I came to Fit Lab with an injury and didn’t know what to expect. The coaches took the time to teach me how to move safely and build strength without reinjury. After a few personal sessions, I joined the group classes and immediately felt supported. Everyone encourages each other, no matter the fitness level. Fit Lab is a caring, motivating community that truly feels like home.

Fit Lab Studios has been a wonderful crossfit gym to have in our neighborhood. Friendly staff, members, and workouts which can be adjusted to your level (or any injury you're recovering from). Whether you're new to crossfit or a veteran, I highly recommend Fit Lab!

I have been a member of FitLab Studios for at least 3 years now. The community is warm and welcoming and the programming is great as well! I loved weekend classes with Jodi and I always loved when my schedule lined up to have Erin as a coach. Benson is a phenomenal weight lifting instructor and I always appreciated barbell class. No matter my fitness level at the time, I could find things that worked for me and people were always willing to help me through the various aches and pains of aging πŸ˜‚.

I started at Fit Lab 3 months ago and have to say that this has been my favorite gym experience to date. The coaching is top-notch, the community is very inclusive, and the workouts are always quality. It's been amazing to come workout and feel known and by my classmates, the staff, and the owners. So kudos to them. If you're new to the area and looking for a place to get connected, I'd say this is the place!

I started at FitLab with zero experience in olympic lifting/powerlifting/CrossFit. Amazing coaches who help you learn the fundamentals and supportive community (very LGBTQ friendly) who cheer you on along the way. I've been at FitLab for several years now and recommend it for everyone, no matter where you are in your fitness journey.

I got the opportunity to join FitLab after my previous box unexpectedly relocated to a different location. I’ve been at FitLab for 3.5 months and it’s a great place to train. The owners are present and truly care about what you are getting out of the process. The coaches are knowledgeable and run you through proper warm ups prior to strength and conditioning sessions. Highly recommend this place to anyone.

My life was in shambles. Barely able to put on socks or climb a set of stairs without having to stop to catch my breath. Heavily overweight and with my doctor telling me my levels were all over the place, I decided I needed a change.

The staff and members at Fit Lab Studios changed my life. I’m now able to run multiple miles at a time, and my mobility has drastically improved. I’ve shed 40lbs. and I feel energized like I haven’t been in years. Having a family of members and coaches at the gym keeps me coming regularly. I can’t thank them enough for giving me my life back!!

Quite honestly, the first time I really enjoy going to the gym. For as long as I have been a gym-goer I always maintained memberships but never truly enjoyed going. This led to a lot of wasted money on a membership I didn't use. I learned about CrossFit years ago because one of my insanely fit friends started doing it. I was always too intimidated to try it because, well, I am not insanely fit. Ha! I stumbled across a Facebook ad one day for the 6 week challenge with SODU and I thought, what the heck! I need to do this for myself and get back in shape. I remember walking towards the gym for the consultation and seeing all these people lifting weights and part of me wanted to turn around and get right back in my car and drive to chic-fil-a. I felt incredibly out of place....and FAT. But I sucked it in and sucked it up an walked inside. I met with Erica. She was super friendly and made me feel very comfortable. Needless to say, I joined the challenge and eventually a full time member. I thoroughly enjoy the workout programs. I love the change up every day so I am always sore (makes me feel accomplished). Its also super motivating when being surrounded by so many hard working, dedicated, people. All levels of skill and fitness are there working together. SODU is judgement free zone and I love that. I have since become friends with many members. It is a very close knit community which I think is awesome because I moved here from CO and don't know many people outside of work. Having friends there also helps keep me accountable and motivated, and lord knows I need that. Above all else, nothing beats the feeling when I leave class like, "yes, I'm still alive and I feel great!" Sometimes you feel like you might die....but trust me, you wont. If you are questioning CrossFit, I encourage you to come in and try a class. Everyone will welcome you with open arms (including me) and soon enough you will be a proud meathead.

Spent 6 weeks with SODU CrossFit and had a great time. I was part of a limited-time challenge that included 3x a week crossfit, 3x a week other workout and a specific diet.

I really enjoyed my time at this gym-every coach was really knowledgeable about the best way to teach the moves, as well as "scale" according to my needs. I was never once judged by a coach or another member for being a beginner to working out and over the course of the 6 weeks I was encouraged to go further in my workout. I really liked going to the early AM classes, because it was a smaller group size and a little quieter. The afternoons are definitely busy, but definitely enough room in the classes that the coach was able to give you individualized attention.

If you're looking for a space that is inclusive and supportive, while still learning to be a crossfit warrior, this is for you :)

I just finished doing a 6-week challenge with the folks at South Durham CrossFit and had an amazing experience! My goal was the lose 6% body fat in 6 weeks and I ended up losing 7% body fat and 10 pounds in 5 weeks. I had many misconceptions about CrossFit that initially turned me off to signing up (i.e. its just for meatheads, you do complex movements with no instruction, there isn't any science/thought behind the workout plans), but my experience with the program, the people who were members, and the instructors couldn't be further from my initial thoughts.

An extreme amount of thought and care went into designing the program. The meal plan, workouts, coaching and social support were expertly woven together to make for a seamless experience. It addressed every pitfall one might encounter when starting a new fitness program (sticking to a meal plan, meal prepping, losing motivation, stress) and made it as easy as possible to succeed.

The members there were great. They were encouraging and friendly. Almost everyone I worked out with came up and introduced themselves to me, and were very helpful if I needed advice on a movement or was struggling with a workout.

The coaches were experts. A special shout out to Amy Depolo and Jason Carley who I trained with most frequently during my challenge. Both were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and motivating. Both great as coaches and people you would want to grab a beer with after class.

Overall I give the program an A+ and would encourage anyone who is looking to transform there body and commit to the program to join South Durham Crossfit.

My wife and I bought a groupon sprI got 2016 and we are hooked. We love the coaches and the folks that go to the gym are all really nice and accepting. The 6am group is dedicated and the 430 group is more lively and joking. The class sizes stay pretty small, probably 5 people on average but some days it may just be two and other days 10. Classes are capped at 12 so you always get coaching tips to make sure you are doing everything correctly. A lot of encouragement and cheering. If you are new, people make a point to come up and introduce themselves (or at least I do!) to make you feel welcome. Wall balls are my enemy.

Crossfit always sounds like something way to intimidating for your average Joe -- with all the hype and olympian athletes involved. I went with a group from work and our coach Barbara did such an amazing job of coordinating all of us, and showing us some cool skills. She introduced some exercises such as the 'clean' and proper form. All of a sudden you are doing a rigorous workout together in a group, so you don't even realize it. The next morning I felt beat, but great! Thanks Barbara for your coaching and high-energy!

I have been a member at Southpoint for almost two years. It is an excellent gym with small classes and highly knowledgeable classes. Not to mention the other members are wonderful and help create a fun, positive and welcoming environment. You'll see improvements in all levels of your fitness regardless of where you start from. You won't regret checking this gym out!

In the four years I've been doing Crossfit, I've learned that each box struggles to find its voice. Bea and Rich have fixed this issue by offering a wide range of classes and coaches that can cater to those looking to lose weight, refine their Olympic lifts, or become a serious competitor. You are able to focus on your goals and gain motivation from the rest of the members without feeling like you are alone.

But all of this is nothing if the gym, members, and coaches are not approachable and welcoming. That was the first thing I noticed about the gym and haven't looked back. With a focus on not only training hard but also doing things together outside of the gym it offers a community and support that is missing from some of the other boxes.

Highly recommended to anyone looking to start their journey or to finally accomplish what you've been meaning to for years.

Amazing! I’ve been there about a month, and 919 is way more than a gym, it’s a community. There are people of all walks of life, at all levels of fitness, and with a wide range of goals. As someone who’s dealt with a lot of injuries, the coaches have been able to help me modify workouts in a way to get in shape but not exacerbate existing issues. I've learned a lot. It feels like home. Highly recommend!

Being near 50, I started CrossFit with some concerns about the training method ' not being for me '. But I started slow , tried 'Boot Camp ' and then worked into the regular Wods. Has been a fantastic experience. The gym is friendly and welcoming- With the others working out being very supportive of each other. The coaches are fantastic. They are patient- really patient-- teaching and ensuring proper form no matter how many times they've seen us attempt the lifts. The workouts are intense and really well designed. Over the year I have gone regularly and now am in better shape than I have been in the last 30 years. Joint aches / pains that used to bother me when I ran / worked out on my own are no longer present.
If you are thinking about a change in how you exercise give this gym a try!

My daily stop at CrossFit 919 is the highlight of my day. The atmosphere is fun and extremely "non-judgey". The coaches are caring, understanding, fun, and cognizant of just how much to push you to ensure you don't become complacent. They will quickly learn your name along with all of the other members. In fact, I've made some of my most cherished friends in less than a years time at this particular location. I appreciate being able to pay a fee in order to have someone tell me from start to finish exactly what movements to do and how to do them. I will never go back to at home workouts or gym memberships!

Community is at the heart of Southpoint CrossFit. Everyone is made to feel welcome regardless of who they are, what their fitness background is, or what goals they might have. It's really impossible to come here without feeling like you're part of something special, and the supportive and fun nature of this gym is what I love the most. Everyone wants to do well and cheer each other on, but there's no intimidating competitive vibe here, and no battle of the egos.

Owner and head coach Bea is phenomenal, as are the coaches she brings on. I've had the pleasure of working out with and being coached by Bea for almost six years now. She encourages everyone to test their boundaries, and because she takes the time to get to know everyone who walks into her gym, it's always in a way that makes them feel comfortable and confident in their abilities.

Bea, the owner of Southpoint CrossFit, has challenged me to do more than I thought possible or was capable of physically accomplishing as one of the "older" members of CrossFit. I had been going to bootcamp at Crossfit Durham which was coached by Bea. When she opened Southpoint CrossFit, I decided to follow her even though I had never done a CrossFit WOD. I will admit I was very intimidated by the weight lifting part of the class, but with Bea's great coaching/teaching skills and encouragement, I am becoming less intimidated each class and actually adding more weight to the bar!! The workouts are both mentally and physically challenging and can be scaled to your skill level. The WODs are well planned and different each night. My balance, physical strength and endurance are strong and I hope to keep improving.

I've been a member of the Y and other gyms, but after a couple of weeks I would lose interest and stop going. People would have their headphones on or watching TV while walking/running on the treadmills - no one looked up or spoke to you. Not that way at Southpoint CrossFit - members are welcoming and supportive - a community. I've been working out with Bea for four years and I'm not bored and haven't lost interest. I honestly hate to miss class. I encourage you to visit Southpoint CrossFit and workout with a great coach and community of people.

Southpoint Crossfit is the first box/gym i have been to where i have had fun and i have been to quite a few, not only with different challenging workouts but with the community that is Southpoint Crossfit. The head coach Bea is an awesome coach with tons of knowledge to help anyone better themselves both physically and mentally as well, she makes if fun and knows how to help all kinds of people no matter what their skill/experiece level is. The class sizes are nice and managable which makes 1 on 1 coaching a regular thing during wods and strength cycles, it has helped my wife and I a ton getting some real coaching on lifting (which we had to scream and yell about to get a glance at other boxes). I highly recommend giving this gym a try and i would guarantee a great experience whether it be your first time ever stepping foot in a crossfit box or you have been to numerous ones, this one just has the great friendly atmposphere that i think everyone is looking for!

I have been at a couple of CrossFit boxes over the past couple of years with varying community personalities. Southpoint Crossfit is the first place I actually feel like I am part of something. The head coach and owner, Bea, is amazing. Bea and her community welcomed me in right away. Bea is an incredibly supportive and passionate coach. She always aims to help her members meet their goals and provides a great deal of motivation.

I can honestly say this is the first time I have had fun at Crossfit in a very very long time. Bea's gym is equipped with everything you really need; amazing coach, awesome gym, and fantastic community. I highly recommend Southpoint CrossFit to everyone (brand new and experienced); no matter where you are in your journey, this is a great place to be.

Two years ago I quit smoking and decided to get in shape. I started classes with Bea Yaxley when she was still coaching at CrossFit Durham. I'd never done Crossfit before, and have to admit being a little intimidated at first. The reason I stuck with it, and the reason that moved to SouthPoint CrossFit when Bea opened it, is that she creates a non-competitive, non-intimidating, can-do atmosphere while showing you how much ass you can kick. Classes begin with a skill-focus, move into a strength portion (usually a lift of sorts, always with attention to form), and then the actual workout. SouthPoint Crossfit classes always have a mix of ages and abilities, but workouts are scalable so everyone gets the most out of their time. I find myself recommending Southpoint Crossfit (and Bea) to friends all the time, and thought it would be a good idea to do so on the web as well.
