I have bounced around quite a few gyms in Wilmington but this one has been the one to pick. Very helpful and friendly staff members, reasonable prices, and the 24/7 access allows me to work around my schedule. Facilities are always clean and equipment is in great shape too. Highly recommend.

It’s time to share my experience with the Fit4Life chain of gyms.
TL;DR:
Pros: Large variety of equipment including multiple racks, 24 hour access, multiple local locations, nice employees (Cade is awesome)
Cons: No money invested in maintenance so machines often broken for prolonged periods, walls are crumbling where plates hit them, light bulbs burnt out to the point of it being very dark; filthy (hardly ever vacuumed much less cleaned); the locker room is disgusting, the app is unreliable, zero customer service support between the club and Peak Payment, general apathy toward customer experience
Honestly, it’s not worth it. Delving into the apathy/customer service issue: for all of us who used to go to the Kerr location (which was shut down abruptly with minimal warning) the app has been frozen meaning zero new notifications. This means I routinely drive across town to randomly see the club is closed for some reason and to try another location. I’ve escalated this issue multiple times and I get passed between clubs, people, and even Fit4Life vs Peak Payment (their affiliate). Nobody and no party takes responsibility or ownership so I’m left screaming into the void. Locations have stopped returning my calls asking for a fix. Peak Payment sent me a formal email saying it’s not their problem. And now I’m bracing myself for their corporate BS response to this review (“Your experience is important to us…”) as they try to save face. Folks, there are other options out there.
Update for owner response: This isn’t the first time you’ve heard of the app. I’ve spoken to two different people at Mayfaire and one person at Shipyard about it. I have multiple emails from Peak Payment saying it’s not their problem. Do not front ignorance as an excuse for apathy. You want me to talk to you? Put your name and direct number here and I will call you. I’m done shooting in the dark with random employees who either don’t care or aren’t empowered by Fit4Life to resolve.
Second Update (10/22/25): Still no word from the owner. Do not believe the corporate replied on here...the owner/management chain of this brand is not engaged. Also, consider this: my full name is associated with his review. The owner could easily look into the app being broken for me (and all former Kerr location members) on his/her own, but they won't....because they don't give a crap. Stay away.
Third Update (10/29/25): Still no word from the owner on how to reach him/her. I've added one star to the review thanks again to Cade at the front desk, who genuinely put in the effort to resolve the issue with the app. He is great. The other issues with this facility as cited in this review stand.

This place is awesome for everyone including gym rats and heavy lifters. It has All kinds of machines for heavy workout, cozy and clean environments, not crowded, staffs are all kind and cool! WARNING!!! Read Fit4Life cancellation policies very well before you sign up for a year’s contract because there is a $150 early cancellation fee and a 60 days notice for early cancellation of the contract, and management won’t hear your reasons even though you prove that you moved out of town, and have no transportation available!

Perpetual issues of poor cleanliness, denied entry, staffing, etc. Consistency is highly lacking; a lot of the younger staff and patrons of this gym are to blame, but there is little to no managerial oversight. These issues have persisted since buying the location from fuel fitness (a fantastic gym), and there seems to be no one trying to change the culture or do any mentoring for the better.

Updated: October 2025, it has been 8 WEEKS since I joined and the sauna still doesn’t work, it’s actually not even attempted to turn on now (see photo), gym is generally still filthy, cleaning bottles empty, water stations broken. This is not a “delayed” maintenance issue per their response, this is false advertising and pure neglect at this point.
The gym has such a great location, but unfortunately, I don’t think gym tenants can afford the rent in Mayfair—this is the third gym to come and likely go in just a few years. Like the others, they brought in great equipment and even fixed the broken wood in the sauna at first, but then it seems like there’s no money left to actually maintain the place.
I joined over a month ago, and the women’s sauna hasn’t worked properly the entire time. I keep hearing “we’ve informed maintenance,” but nothing changes—whoever maintenance is clearly isn’t getting the job done. Over half the water stations are broken, the facility is generally pretty dirty, and there seems to be just one poor girl at the front desk juggling everything, including cleaning, which is obviously too much for one person.
Today, even the door scanner didn’t work for me, which I know has been an ongoing issue for others too.
It’s sad because this place has so much potential—I’d even pay more if they brought back the steam room from a previous owner, kept the sauna running, and maintained the facility properly. But right now, it feels like there’s just no budget to keep things up or staff it appropriately.

The scanner has be broken many times to enter gym during not staffed hours causing you to have to leave once you have already gotten up. Childcare is cancelled last minute very frequently causing me to be unable to go the gym. Because of this I have been trying to cancel my membership for months to be able to go to a reliable fitness location and it is nearly impossible to cancel. Wanted to like this gym, but the idea of not having staff there during opening hours is not proving to be a successful business approach.

When this was fuel fitness, the gym was spotless. There was a cleaning crew daily. Now the gym goes WEEKS without being properly cleaned. The staff is expected to do the cleaning so if they are short staffed, no cleaning is done. The women’s bathroom was not properly cleaned for at least two weeks and the entire gym is filthy at all times. They make their contracts impossible to get out of, so please do yourself a favor and do not sign up in the first place.

I never leave reviews, but I feel this is the only way it will get to the higher ups of this company. I have been a member here at the Mayfair location for about six months now. Three times in the last month, the door barcode to get in after hours was not turned on therefore everyone that showed up to go to the gym at 5 AM had to go home and leave because it wouldn’t work. The employees tried to say that it was our fault or our phones, it’s not, somebody forgot to do their job which really sucks because when you get up that early, you’re prioritizing that part of your morning. The employees just sit on their phones the entire time. My most important complaint would be how dirty this gym has gotten. There are mats everywhere equipment in the wrong places, everything is filthy. There has been the same Zyn on the ground for months now in the same spot which means they must never vacuum. One of the mats has dried blood on it, and very obviously has been overlooked, it needs to be thrown away. There are never any paper towels to clean the equipment when you’re finished, Despite telling the staff when they run out. The bathrooms are gross, always out of toilet paper, soap. The equipment is filthy, the members shouldn’t be the only ones cleaning the place. I only go there because it’s affordable And has a sauna But I’m not sure how much longer I can put up with the filthiness. I’m sure they can afford a professional cleaning crew, if not, our membership cost should be way less. I hope they can turn things around because it’s a great location.

Fit for Life Gym – Misleading Practices and Zero Accountability
I joined Fit for Life for the convenience and because my membership was covered through insurance. I signed up for what was supposed to be a straightforward 3-month personal training package—$200/month, discounted to $189 the first month, plus a vague $69 service fee.
Things went downhill fast.
My trainer, which was the trainer manager, quit without warning, and not a single employee reached out to inform me, replace them, or offer support—despite the fact I continued to be charged for training I wasn’t receiving. I later discovered $600 in extra charges across April, May, and June—well beyond my intended commitment.
When I visited the gym for answers, staff shrugged it off and promised a callback that never came. Nearly two weeks later, I heard from TJ, the district manager, who showed up late—both literally and figuratively. His response was a sad display of professionalism. Instead of resolving the issue, he tried to assert a weak bravado and told me we’d “handle this like adults.” Ironically, I was the only adult willing to have a transparent conversation. He kept insisting that what had transpired was completely legal. I say “absolutely deceptive”.
The trainer never explained that I’d be auto-renewed unless I canceled 30 days in advance. I only found the fine print in my spam folder—sent from a third-party company I had no idea I was signing with.
I referred three people to this gym because I wanted to believe in it. But when I asked for a refund for the charges I didn’t authorize, I was denied.
This isn’t just about money—it’s about trust, transparency, and integrity. If Fit for Life wants to win back business, they need to start by doing the right thing: refund the overcharges and offer a sincere apology. Along with that, the gym needs to maintain a clean space and broken equipment.
Until then, consider this your caution sign.

I had high hopes for this gym since it in a great location in Mayfaire. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. They started off with good management in the beginning and in the last couple months management has been nonexistent. The gym remains dirty and understaffed. Too bad since they have good equipment and the potential to be something great. Hopefully they can get it together before they close this location.

I enjoy the gym hours and the equipment, but I did not have the best conversation with one of the managers, TJ. He did not seem very accepting and had some type of attitude. The gym automatically puts you in a contract even if the person you sign up with tells you there is no contract. It is tough to get out of the contract and the senior manager was of no help. I would only go to this gym if you pay all the money upfront and know you are permantly staying in the location

Although some of the staff were great and welcoming, I wouldn’t recommend this gym at all! They lure you in with a “cancel anytime” agreement just to charge you when you decide to leave! AND they want excess information to even think of letting you out of a contract you never agreed to. They can’t/wont help you in house so you have to go thru Peak fitness who makes you show your personal health information from the doctor if you’re unable to continue for health reasons. Or makes you snow proof of address if you move or are outside of a certain mileage from the gym. Best to just leave these franchise gyms alone and join a local smaller gym. Oh and if your staff is telling people the wrong information when they sign up, how about train them because it isn’t anyone’s fault if they’re given the wrong information from start!!!!!!

BUYER BEWARE! My= Wife who deals with Lupus. Decided to join a gym, as her insurance offered to pay. We toured Fit4life and it was fine. Looked clean and seemed to be less traffic than PF. We were informed by a representative. She could join the gym and had the option of canceling anytime she needed to. I asked for more details about this. Because frankly it smelled like bs. She and I were told again . Cancel at anytime, no fees no penalties. So my Wife signed up and proceeded to use the facility on days she felt strong enough to make it. Fast forward 2 months later my Wife and I find a gym closer to the area where we live. So we reached out to the FIT4Life office to inform them that she would be needing to cancel her contract. *SPOILER ALERT: This is where it all goes left. The representative informed my Wife she was signed up for a 1 year contract and that cancelling would not be possible unless and cancelation fee or letter of relocation was filed. She was rushed off the phone and given the number to a call center (clearly not in America) to resolve the matter. The call center rep was rude and had zero information to provide except a big fat NO. When we requested to speak to am manager on duty. Were in informed " Managers don't take calls". A Customer Service Manager doesn't provide Service to Customers. Imagine a person in charge at your job not actually servicing the thing they are in charge of. We quickly call back to speak to a rep at Fit4Life and request to speak to a manager on duty. We are informed the person we are speaking to is the manager. So great! Surely she will be able to help right....not exactly! She tells us around the time my Wife signed up for the gym The people she responsible for hiring and training provided my Wife with bad information and that they "misspoke" about the details of the contract . Finally the age old line of "there was nothing she the manager could do about this". NO apology, no consideration for the fact it was the employees she was in charge OF that made this error. Just a smug and condescending reply followed by no new information to provide. Of Course this whole ordeal got my Wife very upset and her mental health is linked to her physical health. The fact that a company can get away with saying one thing then signing you up for another. Then offering no help or assistance in the matter. Saddens me. There are a ton of great gyms in this area. Clean, Nice vibe and atmosphere. You may decide even after reading this to choose this gym. That is your right. As a neighbor I give the advice BUYER BEWARE

$$ Beware: Was promised by associate monthly billing for nonexistent message chair would go away immediately since this organization took over prior gym- Fit 4 Life took away amenity. I requested on or about Jan 4, 2025. I also emailed management twice (no response) after getting clarity that prior gym could not stop debit from my checking account. I had to have bank block debit. After my unanswered requests to stop debit to Fit 4 Life I get multiple emails and calls from Peak Billing to pay an increasing balance (since bank blocked). Emailed Peak several times to clarify and request emails to CEASE but they continue to harrass me by weekly or more frequent requests for payment (that I do not owe). This sort of disorganization is unacceptable. I will be forced to then bring in all documents to manager in person- what a waste of time. I wonder how many others at the gym are being over billed?

I had a gym membership with Fuel Fitness in Mayfaire. I cancelled with the manager whose name was Chris on October 17rh 2024. In January of 2025 my account was charged by Fit4life. There was NO notification sent to me that this switch was happening and I was never sent a new contract for Fit4life. They are now wanted to charge me for cancellation and refuse to give my money back for the month of January. This company is full of scams. This is the second time I have been screwed by them as I purposely switched to fuel fitness from Fit4life in the past for a poor experiemce. I have disputed the charge with my bank, and filed a complaint to the better business bureau.

Would not join this gym if you paid me! I came over from Fuel Fitness at Mayfaire and was awarded a membership I had won. Originally I was told it would be honored. Then was told they were not honoring it! They then charged my account the monthly membership fee & refused to reimburse me! This is after a lot of misinformed phone conversations! Management team also has given wrong info on when group fit classes would start and how many would be offered. The bathrooms are disgustingly dirty! All the while construction is still going on! So much chaos!!!!

Heard was a new gym just recently went from fuel to fit4life was very excited to try fit4life because I am a mother of two I currently work at the movies right across the street and only have the weekends free to myself to workout. I went in last weekend to sign up was rudely greeted by a "manager" asked me if I was here to sign up for here to complain. I had mentioned he may have the wrong person because at the time I had nothing to complain. I ended up signing up the manager gave me this pre tour of the facility and was asked at the end of it if I was employed and if I wanted to apply for a job. Kind of caught me off gaurd at first but really creeped me out given the fact I told him already I was happy with my work status already at the Cinema. I ended up signing up but really made me feel uncomfortable with the personal questions he asked me about how much I make there and what I could be making here I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else

I had what was supposed to be a cancel anytime membership. When I tried to cancel the kid at the front said they didn't know how. Then the next said they didn't know anything about that. Then I called and was told I had to do it at the gym. I made a special trip from an hour away just to be given the run around again when I arrived. So, I simply terminated my card. Now they have a collections agent after me for hundreds of dollars.
Complete scam!!! Avoid at all costs!!!

Easy sign up waiver, the passes are priced well, beautiful facility, clean bathrooms.

Exceptional staff and equipment offerings. My husband and I visited the gym while on vacation in the area. The young lady at the front desk, Gracie, was both very knowledgeable and attentive. Another employee, Ryan, was also very helpful in providing additional information. The gym was clean and the variety of equipment offered was very useful. I also had the opportunity to experience a Hydro Massage post-workout. That was amazing. I highly recommend Fuel Fitness to local residents.

Nice little gym located in the Mayfaire shopping center. They offer month to month memberships or yearly. Also have a joiner fee, but lots of promos running. Once a year $49 fee also. Lots of decent equipment and not too crowded, so plenty to use at peak hours. Lots of free weights, cable machines, exercise machines and plenty of cardio equipment. Saunas are located in both men & women’s bathrooms. Sauna is in need of some renovations, but does get up to a good hot temperature.

Please stop engaging in the practice of using people's emergency contacts to gain members. I was used an an emergency contact for a gym member and they have been harassing me via text based on this information to join the gym. Once this practice is removed, I will remove this negative review.

I’ve been a member of Fuel Fitness for about 2 months now and have so far had a very frustrating experience. A large part of why my husband and I joined the gym was the childcare. However, we have now had FIVE separate occasions where we got everyone dressed and drove to the gym only to discover that the childcare was closed (during the advertised childcare hours!). We were told that if they were having staffing issues we would receive an email or text message letting us know but that was not the case for four out of the five instances. We’ve only been members for two months and almost half of the times we’ve wanted to workout the daycare has been closed. It’s incredibly inconvenient and really defeats the point of having a gym membership. If you don’t have kids, the gym is decent and affordable. But if you do, I would recommend taking your business elsewhere.

JP is a great manager. He is making the gym super clean and happy. He has a great attitude and knows everything about the gym and training. He makes friendships with all members and has made a huge change to the gym. He is going to make this gym very successful and I hope the owners keep him the manager

My fiancé joined and has to bring our kids with him in the evenings, for the first week it was okay but he hasn’t been able to come because the daycare is constantly closed now without any notice, it’s really aggravating and he would’ve never joined if we knew it would be like this. Other than that the gym is nice and people are nice but it would be even nicer to be able to come use the gym

I am delighted to have chosen this gym, since it is close to my work which motivates me to go to the gym I do not have to think about traveling across the city. The atmosphere is calm. The personnel is very friendly. In addition Jean speaks Spanish and english very fluent both and has a lot of knowledge on the subject.

The staff here is unbelievably unwelcoming and honestly very judgemental. Theres also very little equipment. Be prepared to have to adjust your workout because theyre missind a lot and theres only one of what little they have.
