Let me start by saying, I don't ever take the time to leave a bad review, but this is unacceptable and I wish I would have had this warning before joining. This gym is absolutely filthy. The equipment is greasy, the bathrooms are consistently dirty, and the floors look like they haven’t seen a real mop in weeks. After multiple complaints, management promised a “deep clean.” The very next morning there were dirt streaks smeared across the floor — so either nothing was done, or they think that counts as clean.

This is not just disappointing, it’s unsanitary. People come here to take care of their health, not risk it in a facility that can’t meet even the most basic standards of cleanliness. There’s a reason they don’t offer a 30-day happiness guarantee — they wouldn’t have a single member left.

Owner: this needs to be addressed immediately. And for anyone considering joining, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere until serious changes are made.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I signed up almost 2 years ago for what I verbally agreed to as a 12 month contract. Tried to cancel when the 12 months neared its end, after not going due to a strange experience, come to find out they had me sign a 24 month agreement. I let it go. Fast forward several months later & my card on file has fraud on it & declines. They then charge me a $20 fee for the charge reversing.

Gyms dirty & full of weird men that watch you workout the entire time until you get uncomfortable enough to leave. Hence why I stopped going over a year ago. Be mindful of what you sign up for & go elsewhere.

I’d been looking for a gym that had fitness class options(something I used to love to do but hadn’t found many in ILM) and Fit4life was recommended. It’d been a long while since I had worked out due to a surgery. I’d lost most of my muscle mass. I was struggling to have motivation to just get started. The first time I went in there was a class about to start. So, I poked my head in and after some encouragement from the instructor, decided to try it! I didn’t know what I’d gotten myself into…turns out it was a cardio dance class (I’m not a dancer). But, I absolutely LOVED IT! afterwards there was a weightlifting class…I decided to stay and loved that even more! Months later, I’ve gotten so much stronger and I attend Christina’s classes every week! Her classes have gotten me back into working out. I can’t thank her enough for all she does. If you join this gym, you’re guaranteed to get three days a week of her classes. Best instructor I’ve ever had. Thanks Fit4life (and HUGE shout out to Christina’s classes) for getting me back in the gym!!!! 🥳🫶

I urge you all to refrain from anything but month by month, they have aggressively pursued me for money for a service they never provided. The trainer I was given cancelled on me twice, I realized it was not going to work with our schedules and they still wanted me to pay months of service for nothing. I had to close my bank account to prevent them from drafting money. They then sent a collection agency after me, which I hope collection didn’t buy the debt because I will never pay one more red cent to these thieving crooks. Stay away from these predatory scammers.

I signed up for personal training at Fit4Life, expecting professional guidance, structured training, and measurable progress. What I got instead was a complete scam—a gym that takes your money but refuses to deliver on its promises.

My personal trainer disappeared without any notice, and I was left showing up to sessions with no explanation. The gym knew about this for days but failed to inform me.

They offer a 45-day money-back guarantee, but it's a total lie—they don’t track progress, record measurements, or document anything, making it impossible to qualify for a refund.

Instead of taking accountability, management was rude, dismissive, condescending, and completely unhelpful.

They altered my contract without my knowledge or consent, adding an expiration date that was never part of the original agreement. Unilateral contract changes are illegal and unethical, yet they refuse to acknowledge their wrongdoing.

They continued to charge me for services they did not provide, and when I requested a refund, they refused, hiding behind vague contract terms.

The only “solution” they offered was to freeze payments, meaning they get to keep my money while failing to deliver.

Many people invest in personal training for their self-confidence and well-being, but Fit4Life completely undermines that. Their lack of professionalism, broken promises, and failure to deliver results make this a frustrating and demoralizing experience.

Staff member under the name of Wesley was very rude and uninviting to me and my friend who came into the gym to check it out. They invited my friend via text and phone call with urgency for her to come use her free 3-day pass. We stated we’ve never been to the Murraysville location of Fit4Life. He looked up both of our names and told us that we were lying and that we needed to be honest with them. They need to check their system before inviting people all the way to the gym just to get turned away. Learn to treat people and customers with respect for the future.

The staff, specifically Wesley, was very unprofessional. He invited over the phone to come visit using the free 3 day pass. Then, he texted and asked me to come in to the Murraysville location. They looked up my name in the system and told me I was lying and that I needed to be honest with them. I’m disappointed with the lack of transparency in the membership cancellation process at this gym. When I signed up, I was not properly informed about the required 60-day written notice for cancellation. My contract is set to end on 10/13/24, and I called months ago to inquire about the process for canceling or transferring my membership. At that time, the need for a 60-day notice was never mentioned.

After reaching out again today to confirm my membership wouldn’t be renewed, I was surprised to learn that I’ll still be charged for both October and November, despite my contract ending in mid-October. Clear communication about policies like this should be a priority, and unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience. For new members signing up, make sure you get a CLEAR picture of what you are signing up for.

As a long time member from when they originally opened I need to praise Kayleigh M my fitness HIIT instructor . I do her classes on Saturday and Sunday she is not just a great trainer but as a individual who has such compassion for what she does and her clients. Kayleigh knowledge and schooling for the internal health of the body mind and soul is on point and shows in everything she does. She is a great asset to Fit For Life. The gym has enough equipment for everyone you just need to know the right time to go so it not too crowded and they do deep clean often which is important to me as a Covid Ling Hauler, only pet peeve would be the fitness room could use a good vacuum in and around items in there . I happened upon this location because my home gym, Fit4Life Shipyard, has been having issues keeping the Kid’s Zone staffed and communicating with members about these inconveniences.

I wish I had come here sooner because I had no idea what I was missing! Fit4Life Murrayville features a huge, open, and spacious layout, a large and fully usable turf zone, dozens of pulley attachments, and multiple pieces of equipment so you never have to wait to do your next exercise. THIS is the standard that Shipyard and all other Wilmington gyms should aspire to.

TJ, the gym manager, and his staff are friendly, welcoming, and at the top of their game. It’s clear that TJ is passionate about what he does and genuinely cares, and this is reflected in his team. Fit4Life Murrayville sets a high bar for quality and member experience.

Driving an extra 20 minutes across town is totally worth it.

Other than the 24 hr access door continually not working which has become an annoyance for early bird people not sure why they can’t get this issue fixed permanently it’s overall a quality gym with excellent equipment.

Overall a nice gym and the staff seem pretty chill. They have a nice mixture of Hammer Strength, Life Fitness, and Arsenal equipment.

On the downside the men’s bathroom could use more attention and the TVs are all on the same channel(local news).

Still the top gym in the area IMO.

Always always cancelling classes. Took my money for a maintenance fee which I was never told about. I wasn’t even able to go because of my back and they charge me a maintenance fee. I quit.

I like the distance from my house to the gym, the gym is very spacious, plenty parking. I would have given a 5 but I walked in 2 days in a row on 4/9 I was not greeted by the 3 people sitting at the desk talking I had to speak to them in order for a response after I scanned in and on 4/10 around 8:50a I walked in one of the same young ladies holding a vacuum in front of the desk did not greet me only after I said how are you doing is when she responded. Customer service should be important to your establishment.

Large, clean space with plenty of variety of equipment. I live near the smaller Shipyard location, but make the 20 min drive on certain days for the classes!
1. Lit Fit Dance with Christina is #1, best class ever. She is easy to follow, but still challenges you every class with her moves that make you sweat. She also teaches a power sculpt class & kickboxing.
2. Resistance Training with Kayleigh. Challenging in the best way and she keeps a good variety.
3. Power Pilates with Jan. Floor pilates that target booty & abs. Best way to start Friday mornings.

I have tried almost every gym in Wilmington and this is by far the best one! The equipment is always clean, and you can tell they keep up with everything to ensure it’s never a wreck. On top of that they have the friendliest staff that greet you when you come in and are leaving!
