It has been a great experience. Everyone has been kind and supportive. What I love most is that the primary goal for the kids is to have fun and enjoy themselves. They learn to build confidence, which allows them to improve in every class.

We had our daughter's birthday party at Goldfish over the weekend, and it was easily the easiest, most fun, and most affordable birthday party we've thrown. We actually got to enjoy the party and play with our kids in the pool!
The staff were amazing; they made everything easy and consistently went over and above. We had brought some decorations, so they asked us how we wanted to incorporate those into their usual set-up. They checked in with us along the way with questions about when and how we wanted to do things, and they were great with the kids. When it was time for cupcakes, they let the birthday girl behind the counter to pick her cupcake and candles. And even before the party started, our 5-year-old really wanted someone to read him a book while we were trying to set up, and one of the staff members offered to read to him! They were so kind, and it felt like they went over and above all evening.
The space was also great. Since we had the whole place to ourselves, the kids could run around and be silly without having to worry about getting in anyone's way or being too noisy.

Been going here almost 2 years. They limit group sizes to 4 kids and divide the pool so there’s lots of class options. The kids work on the same fundamentals in each class with 1-2 instructors so the kids know what to expect and repeat until they’re ready to move on.
My daughter could barely “doggy paddle” when she started and had just overcome her fear of putting her face in the water when she started Now she’s in the Pro 2 class working on her dolphin kicks and butterfly strokes. Last summer She did swim team and loves swimming. It’s a very fun environment too, friendly staff, and easy to makeup classes if you miss. Would recommend!

We love Goldfish! The teachers are patient and kind and make sure safety is their #1 priority. Our swimmer has been with them for 14 months and in her third class (she’s leveled up twice!) and we absolutely will keep coming back.
Family swim times are also an amazing perk!!

I'll be honest: I was dubious of the efficacy of a 25 min swim lesson shared between 3-4 kids. But both my kiddos have been going to goldfish for close to 2 years and my older kid is in pro 2, and my younger kid is swimming independently! It works! The staff are great as well.

My kids, 2 & 6years old, love their swimming lessons here in Goldfish swim school. Both children are thoroughly enjoying their time in your program, and we have noticed significant progress, particularly with my six-year-old.
The instructors' dedication and expertise are truly commendable. Their ability to connect with children and provide personalized guidance is invaluable. I particularly appreciate the individualized tips and feedback you have shared with me, which has helped me support my children's learning at home. Even my youngest child, who initially exhibited some apprehension in the water, is now enthusiastically participating and clearly enjoying the lessons.
Furthermore, the flexible scheduling options have been incredibly convenient and accommodating to our family's busy schedule.
The welcoming and positive atmosphere you have created at Goldfish Swim School has made learning to swim a truly fantastic experience for our entire family. Thank you for providing such a high-quality and enjoyable program.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience at Goldfish in Chapel Hill! From day one, the coaches took the time to understand each child's needs, meeting them where they were developmentally and emotionally. One of my kids had a deep fear of swimming for over a year, and I was unsure if we’d ever get past it. But thanks to the patience, warmth, and expertise of the instructors, that fear has completely transformed into confidence and joy in the water!
The program is thoughtfully designed to follow each child’s pace, never pushing beyond what they’re ready for but gently encouraging progress in a way that feels safe and fun. The staff genuinely connect with the kids, making every lesson an engaging and positive experience. Now both of my children absolutely love swimming!

Love Goldfish swim school! Both my kids learned to swim here. Lessons are taught in a group so your child is either swimming or watching a kid on the same level swim. I think it makes class feel less intimidating to be swimming with buddies. My kids love the fun atmosphere and instructors! So happy to have water safe kids now— it is such a relief and has really helped boost their confidence!

Great swim school. Staff is attentive and friendly. Classes are always on time, never cancelled due to short staff and scheduling a missed class and finding a makeup date is easy. Parking is challenging, but that’s a bit outside of their control. We have our 2nd kid learning to swim and will put the 3rd in when she’s old enough.

Our son has attended Goldfish for 1.5 years. We have seen him make a lot of progress during this time. He enjoys pool time, his confidence has grown, and he is now learning the basic elements of swimming strokes. The staff are very kind and terrific with kids. The program is very well organized. Customer service is great. Unlike some other swim programs we looked at, Goldfish allows make up lessons for classes that are missed. I really appreciate this, because with kids getting sick, travel, etc. some missed classes are inevitable. Overall very happy with our experience.

Our kids have overall enjoyed Goldfish — we wish we could give 4.75 stars ⭐️. The interactions we have had with most teachers and all other staff have been very good. We love the warm pool and relaxed/fun atmosphere. Our daughter has had an excellent experience from a beginner to now being in their swim force class. Our son has had a more mixed experience but it’s getting better. The staff are extremely flexible and helpful though sometimes, it required us to be a bit more assertive- particularly with our son’s experience.

Our Swim teacher Jay is pure sunshine & joy! We have been coming to goldfish since my child could not even walk. Even without being in her class she acknowledged us each week with a big smile and short conversation. When my child was old enough to transfer to her class we were beyond excited! Jay brings order and a joy for learning to swim to every one of her classes. I have never seen her have a bad day. We recently found out she was no longer teaching classes and were immediately saddened. Jay is the heart of goldfish. We came for the sole person to teach our children how to swim but we stay for the care the Jay brings to each class.
She is a great teacher and leader without her in the lessons it just will not be the same.
Thank you teacher Jay!!

The swim school is awesome and my daughter has progressed very well. The only downside is the parking situation is atrocious. Being in a shopping center with grocery store, multiple restaurants, various shops and an auto repair shop there is just too much traffic to sustain anything in regards to parking. It doesn't matter how early you get here there is never an available spot in the parking lot. You end up having to wait for someone to walk out and "parking-lot stalk" them for an available spot. Seems most of the time the person coming out is inconsiderate of others time and trys to delay pulling out of their spot just because you are waiting on them.
I would give a five star if they had better parking accommodations and I understand that's not their fault. Maybe they could offer feedback to the landlord to address parking concerns.

Children really can learn to swim here, even if they are fearful or have zero previous skills. It isn’t cheap, but it is something that is hard to teach at home. The couches are kind and there’s always a lifeguard watching the children’s swim classes, just in case.
One thing to note is that it’s very warm in here so that the children don’t get cold coming out of the pool. It is just something to be aware of when you are waiting during a lesson.

Our son is two in a half years old. He has been attending Goldfish Swim classes since he was 6 months old. He recently advanced to the classes without his mom. Although it’s a group setting, the kids have one on one attention. Each child waits their turn to get their lesson for the day. It helps them by watching the other children and has also helped to prepare him for school by having to wait.

I've got a 10yo kiddo who's been too scared or embarrassed (because he's older) to do swimming lessons for years. He finally said he wanted to do lessons this summer, so I set out to find somewhere with QUALITY instruction that was AFFORDABLE and found BOTH at Goldfish Swim. The skill levels are regimented, which I found helpful to my kid knowing what to expect and not being nervous. I appreciated the variety of instructors when we first started booking because kiddo was exposed to different styles of coaching. They're doing the same collection of activities but each coach brings their own "flavor" of how they interact with the kids. All the coaches are great, but you'll learn which ones your kid connects with the best. I was able to easily adjust lessons to get some of the instructors my kiddo enjoyed the most. My minimum hope this summer was that he'd learn to float and could put his face in the water without too much fuss, but after only 12 lessons, he's moved from Glider 1 to Pro 1 easily. It's been a great confidence booster for him.
A side note I'd like to share is about the booking portal. When I first started, I found it to be confusing when moving between single bookings vs. multi-bookings for the same time each week. Once you're in the booking portal and looking at the time slots that have openings, the calendar looks the same - I didn't see a heading that said I was on the single booking page or the multi-booking page. I accidentally did a multi-booking for an indefinite time period and didn't realize until the start of July when my credit card was charged for that month. I was able to cancel the unwanted lessons starting in August. When I went back to the booking confirmations I had received, I saw where I missed the information on the "Start Date" and "End Date" fields. For bookings that have no end date, I think it would be helpful to make the field default say "indefinite" or "multi-booking w/ no end date." In the grand scheme, it was my mistake, which is why I've given 5 stars, but I'm hopeful my feedback could inform how things are displayed when booking.

After a frustrating year of private and semi-private lessons for my 5/6yos, I was hesitant to try Goldfish. Their standardized curriculum convinced me that at least we'd be able to track our kids' progress, which was one thing we'd been missing. Since we started at Goldfish last November, my big kids have moved up 2 levels and were finally completely independent in the water this summer. My little kids haven’t made progress as quickly but they enjoy it and look forward to their lessons every week: I take them Friday mornings when it’s nice and quiet. There are probably a lot of variables that can make it successful or not for your kid, but it's been a great experience for our family.

Our daughter loves going to goldfish, her teachers have always been amazing and the place is super clean. The classes are only 30 minutes and sometimes they have up to 4 kids in one lane, which significantly cuts their instruction time. It would be nice if the classes were 45min or had less kids per lane. If you miss a class they let you make it up, that’s always helpful since little kids get sick often in the winter. Overall we’ve had a great experience at goldfish.

My daughter went to GFSS for about a year. The facility is nice and the customer service is good. Unfortunately I did not find the lessons themselves to be particularly effective. It did help my daughter get more comfortable with the water at least, but even at age 5 after a year of lessons she would still sink like a stone if dropped in the water. Lessons are about 25 minutes so if the class is full (four kids), each kid is spending most of the time just sitting by the side of the pool, with maybe 6 minutes of actual instruction. So bottom line, I am not necessarily recommending against GFSS if you're in search of swimming lessons for your kid, but temper your expectations somewhat.

Be warned about this. My daughter has been going for about 2 years and she loved it up until about a month ago. Well, we live a bit away so when you can't make it (usually because there is almost always an accident of Fridays that you can't get around) they give you make up tokens. Well we had about 3 months worth and were NEVER able to use them because there were never any spots in the class she was in. I mean for months and months. Well, we decided since she said she didn't want to go ever again to cancel. We were just like whatever, it is what is is with losing about 300 bucks to them in those make up tokens. But then we couldn't even drop until Mid June so they get another 100 bucks for a month that she isn't even going to be there. So 400 bucks in their pockets. You have to pay 30 days. The group lessons to me weren't' worth it but hubby paid because she liked it. They aren't even a full 30 minutes because they have to change classes and there are always about 4 kids per lane so maybe they get 5-7 total minutes of focus on each of them. Just something to think about before you sign up.

Classes get canceled often without prior notice. Our Sad child will definitely go to better places that more professional and respectful

Couldn't have had a better experience. The facility is fantastic. The staff was incredible with the kids. Wish we could give 6 stars. Worth the fair price and drive.

We've been attending Goldfish Swim School for two months now. We love our teacher, and the consistency and positivity she shares each week! Those elements really help our 18-month-old pick up on the skills and enjoy her time in the pool.

My daughter had meltdowns the first two times she came to her swim lessons and your team knew just what to do. She hasn't had once since, and she comes home after every lesson proud to tell me what little victory she managed this week.

Our kids love going to this place for swim lessons. We tried the local YMCA, their lessons were 45 minutes and it always felt like the instructor was just trying to get through the lesson and not focus on their progress. I feel the complete opposite here, in 30 minutes they get a lot of attention and feedback on how to improve. They're also more tired from Goldfish than the YMCA. Always a win. Having COVID protocols in place was very important to us and with their practices in place, we felt completely comfortable bringing our kids here. It really made our decision easy.

My 3 year old loves coming to his swim lessons. Before coming to Goldfish he has water anxiety and hated going in the pool. Now he happily goes in and smiles throughout his lessons.

I took my 10 month old here for swim lessons so that we had something to do to get us out of the house. They are taking every precaution to make sure it’s a safe space to spend time and my son and I absolutely loved it. Thank you Goldfish for a great first experience in the water.

Great facility and amenities (lots of changing rooms with Bumbo chairs for babies, hair dryers, extra warm pool water, diapers, etc.). Instructors/instruction vary greatly and the classes sometimes end before the 30 min is up. Very happy with the service overall for our small baby but seems like it might start to seem overpriced when kids get bigger.

We are big fans of Goldfish Swim School. Our girls, ages 6 and 3, love going every week and have made a ton of progress in just a few short weeks. As a parent, I love how easy it is. They are fully engaged in each lesson, love showing us what they have learned at the end, and build on those skills each week. We are also able to shower and get ready for bed at the end of each session, which takes an extra step out of our already busy evening routine!

The facility is amazing—clean, kid-friendly, and bright. Unfortunately, the way they’ve setup the group lessons gives the kiddos limited time to actually practice swimming during the lesson. I sat with a stopwatch once, and my son swam 3 minutes in a 30 minute lesson. The class had four students, and each practiced a skill once before moving onto something else. There has to be a better way! I really wanted to be impressed, but I’m underwhelmed.
