I visited this gym on a week pass while I was visiting family in Goldsboro. I was blown away by how clean this facility is. I don’t usually care about people wiping machines but you can tell the members and the staff take so much pride pride in this gym. Everyone cleans up after themselves, wipes machines, there are no random weights scattered around, no trash on the floor…There is so much equipment—tons of free weights and machines, cardio, a little running track and a turf area. The staff is friendly, clean bathrooms, cold water machine, the cable apparatus seems new and is so smooth to use. I’m so impressed and have major gym envy, wishing my home gym was this nice. Definitely recommend!!

I have been working out at this location for several years and I don't know why but every time I go to get water from the fountain, its either warm or barely enough pressure. The staff or manager is not paying attention to this detail of the facility.

This gym is not open to guests on weekends. Came to NC for an out of town trip and was glad to see there was a Gold’s I could use. Expect they’re not open. Never been to a Gold’s that limits guest access on weekends.

Let me start by saying that I love this place, I’ve been going to this place for many years but today we had a misunderstanding about the kids cove rules. I started taking my children to the kids cove in January; I added them to my membership 30 dollars a month, I was not given any kids cove rules, the next day one of the kids cove ladies looked for me to tell me that they were going to close the kids cove so I went to get my kids and took a picture of the kids cove scheduled placed on the door. Today one of the kids cove ladies went to look for me again and I was told they only keep kids for 2 hrs , and I was given a warning and I was told that if it happens again they are going to reduce my time 15 mts and also she gave me a kids cove rules paper, pretty nice ladies in the kids cove by the way; So I left since my time was up and called the gym and Sam answered the phone, I asked him why I was not given a kids cove rule paper when I signed my kids? ; his answer was that he had already spoken with me about this issue ; which him and I never had a conversation about the issue previously ; apparently he signed up my kids from what he told me but he never gave me the kids cove rules and only took my money and had me sign up on the computer only , I guess he was in a hurry! I didn’t like the fact that he lied about it, instead of apologizing , he made it seemed like it was my fault, to me that’s very poor customer service skills to be working in the front desk, other than that this is an awesome place, this is the only complaint I have ever had in many year of going to Golds gym. If you signing up for anything at Golds just make sure you ask for rules documents.

The facility has excellent equipment(4/5). This branch continued to bill my card after cancelation (made in person and filling out online cancel document) to which I was told "I did not have anything left to do"- sam(very nice) and made it very difficult to get refund. Never got refund so I had to freeze their request through my credit card. Their response was to threaten that their "charges would go to collections" - (robin)(1/5). Call backs that were promised never occurred. Getting to someone who can solve a problem does not happen. However, the people that use this gym are very pleasant and helpful. (GM: SHARRON) calls back after two weeks to tell me I will not be getting money back. Pure Greed.

I would give 0 starts if I could. The manager likes to engage in power struggles with gym goers. She clearly is not someone who attends the gym regularly, so she has no idea what she is talking about. Very unprofessional. They do not understand what barbells can be used for what lifts. Mid lift they will ask you to change barbells. They breached contract and are engaging in verbal confrontation on social media. When asked to show “rules” they’re attempting to enforce, they were unable to do so. They are absolutely disgusting. Toilets are TAPED together. AC ducts leak on you and your belongings. We have numerous friends who own their own private gyms, and no one agrees with how the manager is conducting business. Very shady. Do not recommend to anyone.

Please take the time to read this novel...
This morning I woke up and headed out to the gym like I have most Saturdays of my adult life. I went to Gold's Gym Goldsboro where I warmed up and started my deadlift workout.
After my warmup I proceeded back to the deadlift platform where I was met with 315 pounds left on a bar. I then proceeded to clean up the weight left behind. (To be very specific there was a Rogue Deadlift bar on the platform with bumpers and (2) 45-pound plates.) This was on a Rogue Deadlift platform that has rubber flooring for metal plate use.
(Background) I do competitive powerlifting and I do not use a Deadlift bar out of season. I had ankle surgery a few years back and I don't have the mobility that i would like in it so a "Straight Bar" Challanges me more at the bottom of the lift and forces ankle flection. This is why I use a Straight bar or commonly known as a "normal Bar".
I Proceed to find a Rogue Straight bar that I have Back squatted 625 on multiple times with no issue. I start warming up and was confronted once i had just placed 225 on that bar. The Gentlemen told me that I could not use that bar for deadlift and that I absolutely HAVE to use the Rogue deadlift bar. Now I have never been told this. There were absolutely ZERO signs of this NOR did my contract say anything about this. So me and the gentlemen shared a few works and I requested to cancel my gym membership. Then I spoke to the manager "Sharon" over the phone were she just laughed at me basically and said that I needed to leave if I was not going to "follow the rules and use that bar". I asked them to show me where I signed that rule and they could not provide me with that information. I said then that is breach of contract. I never agreed to that rule. I then said I won't be paying a cancellation fee then and she laughed again.
Basically, I just got kicked out of a gym for using the wrong barbell.....
This is not how you operate a business, much less a gym. I have MANY MANY friends that own gyms from Emerald Isle, NC to the damn mountains. They do not operate a gym in this manner.
I say all of that to say this. If you want to go to a gym and workout as you, please then I would absolutely not go to the Golds gym in Goldsboro, NC. It is an absolute disgrace to the Golds Name.

They have better classes and more Exercise equipment And More Employees willing to help When you first walk in It looks like it doesn't have much but when you walk way into the gym they have a great big huge workout room with a great deal of exercise equipment To choose from And great zumba Instructors And Zumba classes And other Awesome classes And instructors That are willing to stop and show you the Correct way to move to keep you from hurting yourself Just make an appointment if you want to join a gym and they can show you around And it's a cheaper gym to join and have more to pick from for classes and workouts..

Nov 9, 2022. This gym has so much potential to be great. Their equipments are mostly outdated some are rusty. The weightroom could be bigger, it feels cramped in there. They only have 2 spots dedicated to deadlifting. IMO, this gym is catered to weight lifters/body builders only and non lifefitness equipment users lol. And finally, they don’t have enough yoga mats, and other items and area for crossfit training. Not worth $30.
Edit: i meant crammed

We go to this gym around 5-6x a week and we like it, the equipment is just what we need. Sometimes, accessory equipment goes missing which is quite unfortunate (such as the green resistance band that I miss a lot haha). Expect to spend around 1-2 hours here if you come during rush hours which are lunch time and 4-5pm and later on. There is bunch of cardio machines to choose from however sometimes half of the treadmills are non-functional. The receptionists are always nice, helpful and welcoming. There is many classes you can join if you wish to do so ! :)

I received a free 7 day pass which specified this location only to be told that this location is franchised and does not honor the 7 day pass.
I completely understand this particular locations policy however Golds Gym should not promote this free pass at locations that does not honor it.
I was going to get a feel for the gym and become a member if I enjoyed my trial period but since there was false advertisement I will not be returning to Golds Gym!

Gym overall is good. Generally clean, well staffed, and respectful people. However, the machines are out of date in places and they’ve had broken equipment for over 6 months. Here’s an example. Hold this business accountable. When they say a parts on order and it hasn’t been fixed in 6 months I tend to believe they don’t care about their customers.

I've been coming to the Goldsboro Gold's location for the past 2 years and have nothing but great things to say about the facility and staff. The child care program is great for those parents that find it hard to find time to workout, and my little one loves it so much that she pushes me to go get a workout in. The front desk staff is very personable, polite, and attentive. Overall the facilities have gotten a lot better under the guidance of the Manager and countinues to get better! Even during COVID, they are taking all the precautions they can by having the entire facility sanitized weekly and providing sanitizing spray to each member so you're not sharing bottles. Also, the wide variety of classes that are available from cardio, to strength training and even yoga is great! They are also very Military Friendly when it comes to putting your membership on hold when you are going to deploy or even have to cancel due to a PCS.

In the era of COVID this is one of the few gyms that dared to open. Why close a gym when there are ways to mitigate the risks anyways??? Not having access to a gym can create its own health risks. Anyways, they’ve done a great job! Temperature checks upon entry, hand sanitizer, and cleaning solution for each member to carry as he/she moves throughout the establishment. This is by far more sanitary than your trip to Walmart/Target/Lowe’s, etc.

Horrible place... Its all a big scam, easy to get in and a nightmare to get out. They trap you with the contract from the beginning. You have to sign the contract when you want to try the 7 days, that's when they start getting you. The machines are old. When I tried to cancel they've charged me the whole contract of 12 months even though I've had paid 5 months already. Besides the fact they keep calling and sending messages over and over when you try to cancel the contract. Read the contract really carefully, that way you can avoid all the nightmare I went trough. They charge and extra fee at the middle of the contract towards the improvement of the equipment , another part of the scam. The owner or manager Danny is really rude and when its related to money they are very vague and don't give clear information. I don't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Stay as far away as you can from this nasty place.

Great 24hr gym, they have all the machines and free weights you need. Their cardio machines are top of the line but they also carry old-school treadmills if you don't like all those new features on the newer ones. Day care center is convenient and they have kids activities like yoga so healthy too! All in all good gym.

Pros and Cons for sure.
PROS:
- The staff is very friendly.
- The clientele is diverse and polite.
- The size of the gym is awesome (Even during peak times, I can always find something within my plan to do. I don't do much cardio, but their machines are never even close to full).
- The division of the weight room, machines, cardio, and classes makes it more comfortable for all fitness levels.
- The variety of equipment is nice.
- They often have free classes and bootcamps included in your memmbership (I haven't done any, so I can't speak on them).
- The cost ($39 a month or so) is a decent value if you go to the gym more than once a week.
- Parking isn't crazy like some gyms I have been to.
- Child care (during certain hours)
- Tanning (see cons list, though)
- Truly 24/7 Entry (Staffed during peak hours)
- No high pressure sales tactics
- 12 Month Contracts (unless you pay in full or a high monthly fee)
CONS:
- No one that works here or works out here cleans up much. If you leave a towel or bottle on the gym floor, it will be there for days. I rarely see gym members clean the equipment after use. *They do have someone do minimal cleaning of the bathrooms and gym floor, but I mean minimal.
- There aren't showers in the locker rooms (I would like the option, but with the way they maintain the gym, maybe it's for the better).
- If equipment has small things wrong (the handle is broken, the padding is missing, etc)...Just get used to it. I have not seen them fix anything since I have been there.
- The tanning is a nice perk (for an extra $20 a month), but the beds and bulbs are old. The fans don't work (they have floor fans), and the bulbs have not been changed or the beds cleaned (under the acrylic). I have to tan twice as much just to keep a base.
I originally started at the Clayton location and was happy to be able to use this facility after I moved to Goldsboro. The Clayton location was a tad cleaner, but the Gold's Gyms I have been to before are normally maintained better.
There isn't a lot of competition in Goldboro (smaller facilities, the gym on the Air Force Base, Crossfit, or the YMCA), but I think even if a budget gym like Planet Fitness came to the area, it could impact membership here.

Love the gym itself, but stuff are liers!. I signed a 12 month contract, after the 12 month they kept on charging my card, each time they had a different excuse. First time they said that it was the last month and that i was wrong, that it will cancel itself out at the end of the month. Well, next month they charged me again, i called and they said that i had to call the month before and cancel,. Bottom line they are crooks , they force to keep their service even if u dont want to.

They do not honor the 7 day pass as shown online. The machines were in good shape, nothing broken, just a few that were a little hard to adjust. The group fitness room is alright for a 24 hr facility....I was surprised they had smart bars! But the floor was awful...very slippery. The staff could have been a little more helpful (most places give you a tour and show you around instead of just pointing) I would go back, for the simple fact that they offer Les Mills classes

Really enjoy the gym itself, top notch equipment, if you are looking for a good solid workout there's no place better , a lot of military folks there (Yankees) not really sociable , they recently added on , so its really laid out nice and roomy . however they didn't do anything to the shower/locker area , really wish they would have, more than 4 in there at one time it feels crowded , 3 shower stalls with low water pressure. but overall I like the gym itself to get a good overall workout...

Did like the new management, didn't like the contract, child care, or playing phone tag with corporate office for three days. Read your contract. You can't terminate your contract unless you move. Other Golds gyms that I have visited also had issue with allowing me to use their facility because the gym in Goldsboro is a franchise and not a corporate gym. Luckily I moved.
