My experience with the training manager Dylan has been horrible. He hasn’t call me back about my charge that I am not receiving for training. I want to cancel my membership.They charge me for training that I am not received. I have called corporate and the faculty they will not help me with my account that is 600.

Will is seriously on another level when it comes to training. He keeps me locked in on my hydration, strength, and overall fitness like it’s second nature to him. He’s not just counting reps he’s paying attention to every detail, making sure I’m fueling right, moving right, and actually progressing. It’s like he sees the potential before I even feel it. I’ve never been this consistent or felt this balanced, and a lot of that’s because of how locked in Will is with what he does.

Where do I start. I have been a member of this gym as the doors opened. Signed a contract with them in 2016. Then about 16 months ago I get an email stating that all legacy members contracts will be terminated and those members will have to pay what the newer members paid. My wife was told today that’s the way things are done. Their example was club fees increase just like everything else. So contracts are for their benefit only and they can terminate at their discretion. Well It’s not the same thing. A gym is a club not a service provider. As a club the early members fees stay the same and the newer members pay the increase. So as my wife and I had enough and decided to leave they tell us we have to pay for an additional month and that it’s written in our contract. THAT THEY VOIDED. I sent the manager’s there an email and they have my phone number. They told me they would look into the situation and get back to me. That was 3 days ago. Still nothing. That’s no surprise to me. If anyone gets a chance to read this don’t waste your time there. Go to the new YMCA. There is no contract and no maintenance fee.

I just had a horrible experience with golds gym in Harrisburg. I have been with this gym for 10.5 years and after feeling unsafe in the gym, I have decided to terminate my membership. Members (grown adults) arguing over bikes. Extremely heated argument and other members had to remove someone from the room. It continued in the ladies restroom. Both members were still allowed to come to the gym. Is there no suspension for this type of behavior?… apparently not.
Golds gym is allowed to change their rates even if we signed a contract 10.5 years ago but now they make me give them a 30 day notice. So I am charged for a month that I will not set foot in this gym. Forget speaking to a manager..they won’t return emails or phone calls.

Broken equipment that has been out of order for over a month now. Leg press machine that keeps migrating into the middle of the floor. Only one leg extension machine. Employees on their phone at entrance all the time. Just some of the issues. Been a member since 2013. To the new management, let's crack down a little. This place should be so much easier to manage now. No more tanning, smoothy bar, folding towels. It should be a pretty easy job for those employed. I will not renew my membership after so many years. Yes, I know the manager will see this review and say to himself who cares go somewhere else. Poor attitude.

Has to be the strangest gym in Harrisburg/Charlotte. The staff is weird & awkward sometimes they speak, sometimes they don’t. Others times they just stare at you as you walk in. The Red Hair girl is the worse Madison or whatever. Always has an attitude. Or sitting on the counter. Don’t know how she even has a job there.

Excellent gym! Very clean! Friendly, knowledgeable, and professional staff! I was looking for a nice, clean gym and I found it at Gold’s Gym in Harrisburg.

The gym is always clean and very spacious. I never feel crowded there. The equipment is well maintained. The staff is welcoming and encouraging. Chris, the general manager, is friendly. He is always busy keeping the gym in good shape. Dylan, the training manager, took time to get to know me and paired me with a knowledgeable trainer to set me on the path to success. They are all so helpful and encouraging.

The other gym members are friendly and encouraging. It’s a great atmosphere and I look forward to working out.

I have had the worst experience with the gym and the staff members especially the red hair receptionist who signed me and my partner up
We had moved into Charlotte and went to the gym together to enquire about their services because my partner and I knew we were only going to be in Charlotte for a year .the red hair receptionist sold us on their one year contract and we can cancel after the year with no commitments.we were happy and signed up only to find out after a year when we were leaving charlotte that the red hair signed me up for two years and my partner for one year .i went to the gym together see the manager Chris who agreed that it was a mistake the red hair receptionist made and they will take care of it only for me to come back two weeks after and the manager “Chris” says ,I should have read the contract before signing it ,it could have been corrected if I had see it earlier .
How am I held responsible for your own stuff mistake.
He calls the police on me for trespassing after I told them to fix the issue they caused
If your thinking of signing up and don’t want any issues,please don’t trust the stuff on anything
Take your time and do due diligence
They are lies and they cover for each other

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH GOLDS GYM. They are the worst when it comes to membership/contract cancellations even if you relocate to a different address that is 25+ miles away. They will try to find any way to keep you in contract and take all the money they can out of you. Worst customer service ever through Peak Payment. I have never encountered anything like this with any other gym. Avoid at all costs.

This place claims to have 24 hour access but the scanner outside only lets you in half the time when no staff are there. If you plan to go late at night you risk wasting time and gas if the scanner doesn't let you in.

I have talked with staff multiple times about this issue but it's still not fixed.

I appreciate my gym and the convenience of its 24-hour access. However, since I started coming here, I’ve noticed a recurring issue with people—both adults and teenagers—bringing in friends who don’t have memberships. Many scan others in, use screenshots, or take photos of membership cards to gain entry. This has repeatedly disrupted my workouts due to the overcrowding, excessive recording, and equipment being monopolized. Unfortunately, this situation has me seriously considering taking my business elsewhere.

The irony in all of this is that there are signs posted throughout the gym and outside explicitly warning against this behavior.

I've had a great experience with Gold's Gym so far. I got the 1 year membership plan with 24 hour access and it has served me well over the past 2 months. There's a good amount of machines and equipment for the space, and I usually don't have to wait too long, if at all, for what I need. Great location for Harrisburg and everyone that goes there seems to enjoy being there, including the employees. Great gym all around.

I have been a member for about 4 months now and I can honestly say the staff is very nice and welcoming. I was put in touch with Johnnie L. who is the Fitness manager and was suggested to work with Megan B. who is a Personal Trainer at this location. Johnnie knew exactly what he was doing because she is literally the best! She not only pushes you to do your very best, but also listens and cares. She is accommodating to my hectic schedule and quickly responds to any of my questions. Every workout she prepares is catered to my goals. We even have a alternating routine going between circuits and strength training together. The gym itself over the course of these 4 months has had the sauna fixed along with the addition of new equipment and machines.

Gold’s Gym Harrisburg great gym and I love the atmosphere but one thing they need to work on. People being on the their phones taking up equipment. Some people come during lunch to get a quick workout and there’s a lot of people just sitting on equipment on their phones. I’m not sure how that can be fixed but it’s becoming to be a big problem. However, overall I love this gym.

Golds gym Harrisburg is probably the cleanest gym I have ever been part of. The bathrooms are ALWAYS stocked and smell fresh. There are always staff members on the floor cleaning, wiping things down, vacuuming and being friendly with members. New management is inexperienced and badly in need of customer service training. I joined over a month ago under automatic payment plan. As I was leaving gym today, management stopped me at front desk and asked if I wanted to renew my PT sessions. When I informed her that I was contracted through Dec. she had audacity to question my integrity by asking that I wait while she checked - something she should have obviously done before choosing to offend me. This incident seems consistent with other low reviews the gym has been receiving. Much improvement is required if they want to keep my membership.

I joined Gold’s Gym last November (2022). I was taking a tour of the gym and while I’m the ladies locker room, checking out the sauna, showers etc., I met Karen Small. What a WONDERFUL person to know! She is a trainer, in her 60’s who also competes and made such a great first impression on me that I signed up immediately. She became my trainer and my friend. The gym has plenty to offer, but if you don’t have friendly staff, your money is better spent elsewhere! I have thoroughly enjoyed coming in to see Karen, Dylan (my other trainer), Tracy, Nick, and Ms. Dee (who works in the child care room and watches my 6 year old). It makes my days better!

The gym is clean with a constant supply of cleaners and towels. There is a good variety of group fitness classes for all fitness levels. Personal trainer Karen is a rock star and very professional. The staff are always helpful when they are needed but don’t hover or make you feel uncomfortable. I always see the front desk manager finding something to clean too. Can’t stress that enough - the place is clean. They recently renovated and have a bunch of new equipment. Also- Alaina Dell (one of the group fitness instructors) made me feel super comfortable as a newbie to her class. She’s incredibly encouraging. Overall a good experience.

The manager was messaging pretty much everyday to come sign up , so when I got there I messaged him and I can tell he was standing right in front of me, never said that it was him. only message I got back from him was sounds good while he was standing infront of me. He never said HI or anything. They all had a nasty attitude except the girl that was signing me up.I took my business somewhere else where I felt welcome and people are nice. They are not the only gym in Harrisburg so please try somewhere else.

Front desk guys are disrespectful. I just moved to the area from out of state a week ago and my friend got me a guest pass that was valid through Dec 14th. I go in to use the last day of my free trial and the front desk guy told me I either need to get a membership or leave. He followed me to the workout machine I was using and kicked me out. I have never been treated that way at a gym before and should’ve been able to use my last day. You made my decision easier. Definitely won’t be getting a membership. A better sales strategy would probably be to treat your customers with respect.

Average gym, below par kids club. Kids club attendant does not seem to like kids, it is the younger white girl who always keeps headphones on, never wishes kids or the parents. She feels forced to be working there. Not a very welcoming gym, even the front desk guys don’t greet people. I wouldn’t be surprised if people flock to a new gym if opened nearby.

This place is so dirty, the women’s locker room is so NASTY!! I attached some pics from the women’s locker room ( the shower& sauna). The shower sink smells so bad. Nice little gym, a little overpriced for what it has to offer which is not too much. Staff is great and all and there is at least one of every type of equipment but thats kinda the problem, there are hundreds of members here and 3 bench presses and 3 squat racks along with a-lot of other very popular equipment that is drastically lacking numbers in that gym. Not rare at all to have to wait an hour or two for a bench or squat rack ect. Lastly, the cleanliness of this gym is also something to consider… definitely not the cleanest gym, there is one employee who is in charge of cleaning and he does a FANTASTIC job, that man is constantly cleaning but this is a big gym with a-lot of traffic and one gentleman is not enough.

The manager has anger issues and cannot politely tell you not to come. As a guest, I was yelled at because I was coming too often, even though I was coming with a member. I should be allowed in, but only on Fridays. I did not know this, but the manager was too angry and wanted me to pay a whopping $15 for 2day pass, which is absolutely nuts.

The manager could've done a better job communicating with me. Besides just being a strict A-hole all the time. Not only that but he is the only one who asks for ID when I come in....yikes . I'm not buying alcohol dude, no need to take the job so seriously.

Update: 3 years since my last review. It has improved and overall the gym is clean. Equipment is aging but being maintained. Biggest issue is no way to clean the equipment, with paper towel dispenser and hand sanitizer stations empty throughout the gym. Fair price. Body-pump instructors are amazing driving the class to have fun and get an incredible workout.

I am only rating it 1 star because it doesn’t give me the option to rate it lower, my experience there was dreadful, upon entering the gym I got body shamed by a worker, I asked what’s they’re heaviest weight was and was told I wouldn’t need it regardless, I then proceeded to do their highest weight and the staff member then disappeared, me and my friends where then rushed to finish our workouts because we had been there for “too long” the staffing members are very terrible and very very very high maintenance, poor communication skills and I’d recommended planet fitness before I recommend anyone this golds gym

I dont really write reviews, but I know first hand people are always quick to complain but never have time to say thank you.Since SAM took back over the place is really changing for the good. I thanked him for getting ripped and broken machines fix. Finding the people that don't rerack the weights and having them do it.. as my wife not yet can lift 45lbs plate.He is always friendly to everyone. The rest of the morning workers and daycare are the reasons why we stay.

They didn't allow me to cancel my account during the pandemic. I paid the full length of my contract and they did the automated renewal. When I request an account cancellation I was told the renew was for a TRIMESTER. I asked to cancel then, not to be charged for the following month (now giving them more than 30 days), and it still hasn't happened. A month later, my bank account has another charge for this gym membership!! I called and they tell me they can't cancel my account and that I have to call a different company to get that done. End of story, I paid way too many months that wasn't used and I had to cancel my debit card in order not to be charged again. Horrible business!

I've been calling in to my location since last may to cancel my account. They kept telling me they're doing cancellations because of covid and that it can take up to 30 days to process the request. Well they just ended up charging my account month after month as I called in every time to re-start the cancellation process. I've spoken with the GM and numerous other employees almost every month about this. I had to cancel my card in order for them to stop charging me. Now they're demanding payment for the last month of my "contract" or they will send it to collections. Gold's Gym is not a place I would recommended.

I canceled my membership over a year ago when I moved from NC to California. They still continue to charge me a monthly fee and when I talked to them they say "it will be taken care of" or "we can't find your account." This month they charged me my monthly fee plus an additional $167.45, which I can't get an explanation for. They are a bunch of crooks.

I started the gym exactly 2 years ago in this place everything was great until I started reading and discovered how difficult it was to get out at the end of the contract for this gym, it all started when the pandemic hit I tried to leave the gym and I found many traps That they did not leave me options to pay the entirety of my contract, that is, all the months that I was missing, and I have been to other gym before and none of them cheated me to leave, the 6 months of the pandemic that the place was closed they charged me , I just hope that my comment can advise someone, for my part, this is the last gold gym that I will go from today, no more this franchise, gentlemen, be aware of the contacts once you finish your period, this is self-recharged by others 2 years automatic, I still do not understand why they charged me for 6 months of pandemic if I just in time canceled my contract in the exact period and I found out that it was 6 months which I could not go to the gym since it was closed due to the pandemic, lucky e to all and be careful, credit is at stake in this gym ...

Ok gym, terrible communication with their members. Third night in a row I’ve had trouble accessing the “24hr” gym. Upon calling the 800 number and giving all of my personal information, I’m told that the owners know there’s an issue with the card reader and I cannot access the gym. Will be canceling my membership and will hopefully be able to do this based on “failure to perform to their contractual duties” (access to the gym).

Even before they went 24hrs, there were many days the manager/shift manager didn’t show up until 9:30 for a 9am opening, or didn’t open at all. If you’re looking for a gym in the area, I’d look elsewhere.

Gym is OK but ... BE AWARE! It is impossible to cancel (seriously) and your information and account are actually sent to a third party ABC Financial. I was told I can only cancel if I move out of state or have a serious medical condition. WTF? Told can't cancel at the location, told to call a phone number which says go to MYiClubOnline to cancel, nothing there but a hidden link to call or email a number. Told on phone I can't and that my membership is scheduled to auto-renew indefinitely. I didn't agree to that! I was then told I should email them and ask to cancel in writing and see what happens. WHAT COMPETE BS! I think any club that sells off your info or you can't actually cancel at in person is incredibly shady. STAY AWAY!

I have been trying to cancel my account for over two months now and they ignore my emails and it is extremely difficult to get in contact with someone. I have moved over 100 miles away from this gym, all I want to do is cancel my membership so they stop withdrawing from my account.

Also while I was there the staff is not helpful or even paying attention half the time when you walk in, always on their phone looking down. You will get a better deal somewhere else.

I was looking to switch gyms for the new year, and Gold’s had all of the group classes that I wanted. I was a little concerned about all of the poor reviews I was reading though, and decided to try a week pass to check things out. I was thrilled to learn the the Harrisburg location has a new GM (for about 2 months now) who actually cares about his clients and cares about their opinions and concerns. It seems he inherited a bit of a mess when he took over, and is still working through some things. But he is slowly beginning to replace old, damaged equipment and also adding in some new much-needed things, as well as building back client trust and confidence. After speaking with him and getting a tour, I actually decided to go ahead and join. There will always be negative things said and rare isolated incidents, but as a whole, this gym and the staff seem pretty great. PLEASE NOTE: I do not have close relationships with any of the staff and was not given incentive for this review. Just wanted to put out an up-to-date, positive review to clear up so many of the negative things it looks like this gym has had the last couple of years.

I recently moved out the state and have been trying to cancel my personal trainer but have not been able to even get a call back . I have left several messages and they have not returned my calls but they keep charging me. I was able to cancel my gym membership but they keep taking my payments for training and I don’t even have a membership with them. One day I left 6 messages on their voicemail. I tried to call the front desk, and no answer either. They are happy to take your money and sign you up but when you call to cancel, good luck because they will just ignore you. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

This gym did not notify me when my two year contract was up even though I repeatedly asked for the membership expiration date. Then, when I finally found out that it was up, I was charged full price for my membership AND I was also charged for the next month's membership even though I had already cancelled my membership. This business should be more professional and address customer service on a very deep level if they want people to be satisfied. On top of all of that, the classes that they offer during peak times are not of any help to me which is why I had to stop going. They only have yoga at 8PM and several other classes that I am interested in takes place well after I have already came home from work and would have to go back out again after eating dinner. This does not work well with a typical person's schedule if you work 9-5. Most people don't want to work out right before they go to sleep at night! Please get it together!

Had a bad experience with the last gym I attended. Staff was totally unprofessional. Stopped in at the Harrisburg location. David Bell's professional attitude and demeanor made it an easy decision to start working out there. I don't expect perfection but I pay close attention to how staff treats members. I love this place but they stand around talking almost constantly yet they always have to check if there is a tanning bed clean and they have to be told a movie has been off for an hour in the cardio cinema. I just feel like quick glances can fix these quality control lapses. Other than that, it’s a clean environment and the staff is personable. We pay management fees each month but run out of soap and paper towels.

The gym is not the best, but it's good. Gets the job done... has working machines, good weights area, and the sauna is a nice touch. The classes are the best, and the Les Mills workouts and the instructors for group classes are really what keeps me here. There's a cool cardio cinema that I like. Things are usually kept pretty clean and I have only had one issue with creepy men trying to talk to me while I work out. (Good compared with other gyms.) The staff are friendly. They recently extended their hours on weekends, so that's been nice.
Downsides:
--I don't like that there is no space for stretching. It's something I've recommended to them for the past two years, and they know it's a problem for many people but they don't do anything about it. They tell me to just use the group class room if it's available, but what about when it isn't? Having a place to stretch would actually encourage stretching and reduce likelihood of injuries.
--I hate that every single treadmill has a TV... I hate having something right in my face while I try to walk or run, and I'd rather listen to music or an audiobook and be able to look out from the treadmill. Having a screen in front of me hurts my eyes and it ends up also hurting my neck from not being able to look straight ahead. I get that some people like it, but having one or two treadmills without TVs would be great.
--There are also never enough heavier dumbbells available for classes. Three or four people try to get the 10 lb dumbbells every Body Pump class, and there is only one set. Those are now falling apart from so much use in Body Pump. There should be more.
--And the other major downside is that my friend, who signed up one month AFTER me, is getting a much heftier discount for being a student than I do ($10/month difference, and we are in the same program at school, moved here at the same time, etc.). I brought this up with management and they said that because this gym was owned by someone else before them, they don't know why that happened and can't do anything to fix it since her payments are lower than what they currently offer... that seems incredibly unfair to me and I know they could do something if they really wanted to, but they have said no. The only reason I stayed after that was because of the classes and the location is convenient.

Yeah this place is nasty and run down. Half the machines look as if they've never been cleaned. They are also very old, I am squeezing the metal that was destroying my shins as I tried to use that machine in the picture. Non adjustable Olympic set was quite difficult for me to use being a short girl as the safety bar stops me before I can fully squat. STAFF NON-EXISTANT and creepy old dudes staring at your every move. I'll pass next time...

This gym is great but the maintenance and care of it's clients seems to be lacking. There are always issues with the ladies locker rooms that do not seem to be kept up (despite our reporting them) like ants in the showers. I was bitten on the toe by ants while in the shower this morning and am now the proud owner of a very swollen toe. I've personally reported this issue in the past but it seems that the staff does not keep tabs on issues such as these. This is a great facility but the lack of attention to details like this makes for disappointment.

This gym is ridiculous. The manager is very rude. I visited Charlotte for Thanksgiving and my gym gave me a travel pass. I noticed that my license was missing yesterday and the last place I remembered having it, was last Saturday, November 25, 2017, at this gym location. I called the gym yesterday but they were closed. I called today and the person at the desk quickly verified that they had my license. I asked her why they didn't call me or mail my license back to me. She told me she was not sure. When I asked her to mail it to my out of state address, she told me she would have to talk to her manager who was in a meeting. Unfortunately I had to call back again and the manager told me it was not their responsibility to notify me that they had my license. My local out of state gym told me they contact members when licenses are left at their gym and they ask the person if they want to come get it or if they want it mailed. The manager at this gym said, "good for them".This is the worst customer service ever. If I didn't remember the last place I had my license then what? They would just keep it forever or trash it? Common sense, if your employee did not return the license to a member, wouldn't you expect them to contact you? The manager was very nasty, rude and unprofessional. I love my Gold's gym in West Cobb, Austell, Ga. They go beyond and above to give members and potential members the best customer service ever.
This gym in Harrisburg, NC can learn from my gym. I have been a member of Gold's gym for 11 years and I have referred new members to my gym and they love it.
Mr. Manager, the customer is always right. I hope you put my license in the mail and don't put it in the garbage!!

Really love this facility and my personal trainer, David Wool! Joined this gym back in March 2017 and I am obsessed. Never been a gym rat before but thanks to this facility and David, I love my body more than ever and look forward to going to the gym everyday. Both the gym members and employees are extremely nice and I have never felt uncomfortable or out of place and people of every age, shape, size, and ethnicity can be found at this location. The more time I spend at this gym the more it's beginning to feel like a second home! Other comments on here mention the cancellation policy, and that information is true and can be a hassle, but honestly every gym I've dealt with has had similar policies or they didn't offer the same amenities such as child care, a sauna, a cardio theater, classes that are included in your monthly payments, and a ton of other awesome stuff, not to mention it's a newer facility and always clean. The training program is under new management, and my trainer specifically is amazing! It can be pricey but they are very willing to work with what you need specifically and design a plan that fits your budget and exercise requirements. My boyfriend and I both work with David and we LOVE him! He is knowledgeable, flexible schedule wise, and is there to push us but make sure we never hurt ourselves plus he makes our workouts fun so it's not a chore. My boyfriend was hesitant at first to sign up for a personal trainer since he works outside and stays in shape all year round, but since we have been working with David for a few months now he will sing his praises to anyone willing to listen! We have both learned so much and nothing feels better than being able to feel yourself getting stronger and seeing physical results right before your eyes, which we both have. If you've been thinking about a gym or making a change to a better healthier lifestyle, stop waiting and do it!

Before you sign up here, beware the cancellation policy, even if you are no longer under contract! You have to send in a CERTIFIED (almost $7) letter to corporate with a reason for quitting and your cancellation doesn't take effect for 30 days after your letter has reached them. This same letter that also contains your returned gym key. So you have to pay for an extra month! This is such a scam. I would never recommend this gym after this ordeal. I've also been charged the $25 maintenance fee even after cancellation. (a month ago)
