Terrible place. Went there to cancel the membership in mid December and I was still charged until February. I called them and asked about it and they said their manager was ON VACATION so he didn't cancel any of the memberships during that time. What kinda joke is that?? They don't have 2 managers or assistant manager to take over when one manager is gone? So they successfully ripped off extra $80 from me. Called corporate and they didn't do anything either. Go to Planet Fitness instead!!! Much better staffs, equipments and better everything!

This place a joke. They tell you $1.00 to start then 49 dollars a month. No contract, no cancellation fee. They are liars. I cancelled membership a month ago and they tell me they have to charge extra month even though I cancelled but I can still come knowing I never came in first place. Watch out they'll take your money

Very disappointed in this gym.Been a member for over 2 years and nothing has changed. One machine after another is broken and never fixed. I have complained to manager and i get the same story, it will be taken care of. 6 months later the ellipticals, stair steppers etc still broken. Also several weight machines are broken and in need if maintance badly, not safe to workout on. Stay away from here donβt waste your time, safety and money here because nothing will be addressed PS.. you can not get in touch with corporate to complain. All calls go back to the club.

Was a member since the buy-out, and nothing good since. Gold's Gym should have kept the business model of The Rush as that was why the business was successful which the did roughly the 1st year. The Gold's Gym probably would have been successful retaining members if they kept the perks that The Rush operated on (ie 24/7 hours, more group classes, clean restrooms, maintained all equipment). To bad they didn't and forced me to look elsewhere. Surprisingly enough I have found a home at Planet Fitness which has plenty of locations and hours that suit my needs. Doesn't have some things that Gold's Gym have, but it is nice to have restrooms at Planet Fitness that actually have soap and towels to clean your hands. I went a weekend in December (3 days in a row to be exact). There were was no soap or paper towels in the restroom the whole weekend, so everyone using the restroom left with dirty hands, and started working out. I never went back since then. Took me 3 months to finalize cancelation as Gold's Gym gave me the runaround.

Right away when I sign up at this gym, they have made me pay over the amount I was suppose to.. he said "first two month will be 49.99 after will be 37... after 5 months past paying 50 dollars! without me realizing because I was on auto pay. Sooon as I realize I came to the gym to cancel my membership but they change my mind into staying because they gave me military discount. In January I wanted to cancel my account and they said it's a 30 day cancellation. So now I'm paying January and February months and I'm not even working out because of my time. Waste of money and they will not give you refund, you pretty much gotta pay your way out good luck on them gains!

Bad experience with gold's gym. In March 2018 I open account with the manager Jordan Moss and 10 minutes later my son don't want to come to gym. I am back to the gym and I spoke with Jordan and explain my situation and I need to cancel the account. He tell me that I only I have to pay $28 to cancel. I pay the money. he never give me any paperwork, and he told me that the account it closed. One month later I have monthly charge from the gym. I when to speak with Jordan and he told me I am sorry they don't have any charges any more I forgot to close the account. I ask my bank to change my debit card with different number and I explain the problem so next month I have another charge and they no supposed they have my card number. I when to speak with Jordan and told my the same thing than before. I ask my bank to change my card one more time and again happen the same problem. I went to speak with the bank and they told my the will block gold's gym from my account. I received calls and send me to collection and the end this month October when to the gym and the new manager they told me that they fired Jordan for many inconvenience. But I have to pay the balance, I tell them wy is gym mistake and Jordan represent gold's gym. I pay $99.98 represent two months of member ship. I don't use even one time. Bad experience and they have many complain.they want to force you to stay in the gym. Don't respect you decision. Bad experience but I will take action at court room and will report them to BBB.

Really awful company.
The gyms are run down and poor decisions are made about what to fix (eg. re-doing the perfectly-good floor but not fixing the paper towel dispensers, soap dispensers, water fountains, basketball court, restroom stall doors that aren't usable).
Be sure to read your contract thoroughly, because it's incredibly hard to get out of. I got charged yesterday for my membership, and even though I CANCELED yesterday as well, due to the 30-day cancellation policy, I will be charged again next month for a service I won't be using.
My personal trainer was fantastic, but everything else about the company shows how much they despise their customers. They don't even HAVE a customer care/complaints phone number, probably because it would be overrun.

I signed up about year and a half ago. After the first year I cancelled my membership and now I am still being charged. I called the new general Manager and he said he could not do anything about it. I haven't even been there in a year and I was told by the general manager there's nothing he could do. Is the basketball court even open? The hours was changed and now a huge inconvenience to us all. That's why I signed up to start with. I am talking with my lawyer now and discussing a possible law suite as to being charged after membership was cancelled. When I originally signed up and signed a contract it was when it was 24 hours and used a basketball court that no one is allowed to be on to gain memberships. The amenities that was I was sold on does not exist. The customers are treated like strangers if you don't pay for a trainer when you go in. if you would like to resolve this before we go into court don't ask me to contact you. You can contact me. My nest step is to let everyone one on social media know as well. I'm sure there is resolution to all of this but that will be on Golds Gym time. You have my name in the review and my phone number is on file, feel free to give me a call. The last 4 of my number is 7511.

I have so many problems with management 1st the Jordan and Billing me extra and thats a big one..making promises ..saying Ill get a phone call asap and never happen.. Then try to call corporate about the situation and it automatically takes me to the same location.. So I ask for a manager higher than Jordan and at 1st He is it.. Then I was accidentally told Greg Mullins was it but I cant have his phone number or anything.. Its Bull everyone Ive spoken too has had general problems with Jordan and his following through or overall management skills even some that work there say "I am so sorry everyone has that problem with him" .. Becuase of all of the issues Ive had With my Account overdrafting and all I cancelled all 3 family members. And that was a job to do also. Its ridiculous and the fact I cant speak with the head of it all is even more upsetting

People there are friendly and make you feel welcomed. Update: I am now a member of Planet Fitness. After posting a review 4 months ago I have just learned that gold's gym change their hours and they are not 24 hours anymore. That totally changes my review because I Definitely would need to be at a jam that is 24 hours with the schedule the I have. I am now a member at planet fitness and I like it much better for the price and the hours.

These new hours are so bad . I signed my membership for 24/7 . I don't know what happened to this gym the manager don't care about the Coustemer even they change the hours without any previous announcement and make the gym close at 8 pm in the weekend this is really ridiculous management. We really missed Rush.

Unquestionably still the most superior and cost effective fitness facility around. Impeccable customer service, functioning equipment, and all around fun and motivating environment. A recent Feb. Member Appreciation Day ties all those things together in one bow, while also showing Goldβs commitment to the community (local food truck, humane society, other small local business on display expoβing products). Goldβs is and always will be home. And my two year old finally broke out of her baby anti social shell thanks to her friends in kids club. Itβs the highlight for her everyday. Plus, itβs the only true time my wife and I get to spend together. Thank you Goldβs.

The new hours are just not smart at all. I signed up for the convenience of a gym being 24/7. Closing at 8 on the weekends is even dumber. I couldn't make it to the gym earlier today (Sunday) so I started to go in the evening to avoid missing a day and discovered they are closing at 8 on the weekends! Time to start looking for a new alternative. They save money on insurance but charge the member the same price?...No value there for the member. Where is the extra money going? The same equipment falling apart! I guess Golds is turning into a Planet Fitness.π

I am a 40 year old who has been lifting for 30+ years. I have worked out in Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia and now NC. This Golds has what a good gym needs. Great people working at the gym, many weights, and a great community. I do powerlifting now and they have everything I expect, for not being powerlifting specific. I do with the basketball court would get fixed, but I am guessing that is corporate. You wonβt be let down by the gym.
This is a gym not a fitness center. That is what I want. It does have fitness equipment and classes, but I want people who like to workout hard, not just walk around talking in the phone.

NEVER EVER join this gym. We joined the gym back in August/September time frame with a 30 day money back guarantee clause. Itβs now February of the next year and Iβm still waiting on my refund. Letβs not mention that the 3 months my husband was a member they deducted 3 different monthly amounts from our checking account. The managers are nothing but liars. They swear they will call you back but they never do. They will not give me a phone number for corporate. They are completely worthless. Weβve been told that checks were mailed and they never were. They actually mailed a refund to us but had already cancelled the check so I had to pay my bank a $10 fee. Do yourself a favor and go to another reputable gym like the Y or Planet Fitness; Golds Gym is a complete and total rip off who takes peopleβs money and will not return it. I hope this gym closes for lack of business!

Closing at 8pm on the weekend! How does that improve the quality of the gym????? In your response to L you stated that based on the usage of the gym that closing at 8pm is best for all members. How is that even remotely true? I want to come to the gym when my schedule allows, not having to worry about the gym, that I pay to be open 24/7, to be closed! make these hours more reasonable for everyone and stay open until 12 every night! Planet Fitness is 24/7 and I hope you lose your customers to them because obviously you don't care about your customers. If you think those hours work for everyone then you deserve to go out of buisness!

These new hours are ridiculous! The reason everyone loved the rush is because they were open 24 hours a day. Golds gym takes over and is now closing at 8pm on the weekend and 11pm on the weekdays. This is insanely ridiculous! At least planet fitness is open 24/7 because you are going to lose so many loyal customers because you have decided to change your hours to such unreasonable times! This gym is going down hill fast! First the basketball court has been closed for months with no reason and now they are closing at unreasonable times! I know of many people who will be switching to Planet Fitness because this is ridiculous!

One of the main reasons I was attending this gym was the hours. Having the flexibility to go to the gym early in the morning works great for me !!!
The basketball court has been down for longer than a year with no signs posted to when it will open back up. There is equipment always missing or broken. Now with these new hours, this has definitely motivated me to start looking for a new gym !!!!

New Hours because of lack of better options? The basketball court has been "closed for repairs" since approx November 2016 even though I personally witnessed the staff playing on it during work hours since then. Many of the equipment takes an exorbitant amount of time to get repaired when broken. Many members do not know how to rerack weights after use. The bathrooms are infested with Drain Flys (I have seen one every time I've used it and refuse to shower there). What's to stop someone from going to any other facility now that the hours have changed? That was the only thing keeping us before.

Tried to cancel my membership over a 3 month span. Was told multiple times and assured that the GM would contact me at specific times on specific dates...He could not make that happen in 3 months. No one still to this day has told me his name...INCLUDING HIMSELF?? Very unprofessional. Over the course of those three months I was also told and assured multiple times that it would be taken care of and that I would receive a confirmation of cancellation. That promise was told to me by someone at the desk, and on the phone. At the desk, I watched the woman hand write my information down. I spoke to someone at the desk because for my third travel visit to in a row the GM was no where to be found(Attempted a face to face talk at various times of the day.) The journey to cancellation was long and frustrating. I'll hit the high lights. (1)Gold's Gym will not cancel your membership unless you do it directly with the GM(Meaning if you moved away from the area like me and you can't be there between 8-4pm your going to have to take a day off work and hope they help you then.) or the other ONLY way is to mail in a letter to the home office...I seriously asked if that was a joke.(2)Gold's Gym did not inform me of membership policy cancellation changes, nor did they apologize for it.(3) The GM has now personally told me as of 10/2/2017 that my membership is canceled...3rd person to tell me that my membership is closed as of(Insert that particular day's date here)(4) The GM(The GMs name was never spoken of by the staff or *EVEN HIMSELF...GM NEVER INTRODUCED THEIR SELF??) as I was explaining the facts of my experience, decided to insinuate I was a LIER MULTIPLE TIMES! ? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?? COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. DIDN'T ATTEMPT TO APOLOGIZE TO ME FOR ANYTHING AT ALL. WITHOUT DIRECTLY WORD FOR WORD SAYING IT, THIS MAN CALLED ME A LIAR!!
(5) The Sales associate that signed me up/and convinced me to join also in the end was the only person that was friendly to me. The only person to explain policies and changes before/during/and anytime after I had signed up. The only person to return phone calls. The only person from any gym I have ever been apart of that remembered me from 6 months before hand. His name is Bryan, I don't remember his last name, if you need to find him, try asking the desk person...when you ask for the GM...guess who that person gets...Bryan.
From a customers stance he could easily replace the GM with zero training and your members would be MUCH happier. Sometimes a friendly/knowledgeable person is the best thing for bad corporate changes (Such as forcing customers to sit down with the GM.) WELLS FARGO REPLACED MANY SIMILAR GMs, SIMPLY WITH PEOPLE THAT ARE NICE AND PRETEND TO WANT TO HELP. THEY STILL HAVE MY BUSINESS EVEN WITH THEIR OWN SET OF TERRIBLE EXPERIENCES BECAUSE THE GENERAL MANAGER DIDN'T CALL ME A LIAR, INSTEAD HE APOLOGIZED. TAKE A HINT REPLACE YOUR INCOMPETENT GM AND INFORM YOUR CUSTOMERS BEFORE YOU CHANGE THE RULES, NOT AFTER THEY ARE ALREADY TRAPPED.
The bottom line is the GM of Gold's Gym in High POINT, NC on 2620 N Main ST. as of 10/2/17 is incompetent to run that business. Zero sense of good business practices. In the future, I would recommend others to use other Gold's Gyms if the company were to own any of it's past mistakes and fixes them for future members. "Repealing and Replacing" the quality of the top level management would be a great start for your High Point Location. I don't feel comfortable, recommending this exact location to anyone until a new General Manager is put in place(CAUSE: Three months of no control of your business' day to day customer service.) The company's new policy changes are also alarmingly deceitful.
Out of pure disrespect from the general management, I cannot return to any Gold's Gym personally. I would have been open to returning to a different location if these issues happened the same exact way, but I WASN'T insinuated to my face that I was a lair. The Ultimate disrespect of your customers.
-Sincerely your lost customer

This is a really modern and clean gym. The staff is really accommodating and helpful. Has a pool, sauna, steam room, and numerous classes. It would get 5 stars but the members are what bring it down. A surprisingly large number of people don't wipe down their machine or clear their weights. If you're looking for an old school gym this isn't your place, but it's a great gym with all the equipment you need to get in a great lift.

My Wife and I went to this gym to work out for one day. I have a membership and my wife signed up for a 3 day pass. Upon arrival she was to she would be unable to use the facilities because she didn't bring her i.d and I'm fine with that HOWEVER the small hispanic guy(didn't care to even know or ask his name) told my Wife she could sign up for a month pass. When she said no she asked could she do a one day pass repeatedly and he said she couldn't. At that time my Wife came and got me from working out and I immediately asked him about a day pass and he said it was $15. So, the small hispanic guy was trying to make a sale and when he was turned down has an attitude. I've dealt with much better service there and I cannot say ive had bad service from the entire staff but the one individual ruined the trip. Also, I had no issue paying the $15 bucks for the day pass. Again, speak with other advisors. Do not deal with the small hispanic guy with a picture of his self being fat on his desk.

Great gym. They always make sure eveything is working and they constantly add new equipment like bars for squats and grips for cable exercises.

Used to go here when it was called the rush, since it got bought out, there's always way too many people in there and I tried cancelling my membership, which they make it impossible to do. I cancel my credit cards, they contact bank to get new number and now I have paid for a year I didn't use. Gyms are always scummy but this place is what you'd expect out of the south, low quality, poor service.
