Golds Gym does require a $200+ cancellation fee just a heads up, this was not clearly outlined when signing up unfortunately. Looking to end membership due to how overcrowded the gym is and in order to do so you do have to pay that fee, which is bogus to have to pay for something I can rarely access in its entirety. In addition it was difficult to get in contact with Peak Payment Solutions the company they use as well. They preach ease, yet nothing about it is easy just inconvenient. Doesn’t matter that I signed up online GOLDS GYM. If the gym is small and can’t workout out like I should that should be means for cancellation THE END.

Update after ignorant management response on 6/14:
Current status haven't used gym since October 24
I am forced to continue to pay through Feb 26 or pay a $221 termination fee.

Aggressive contracts that are outsourced to a third party to avoid negotiation of ever letting you of contract. Excessive fees leaky gym no equipment upgrades despite additional yearly fees.

Really? Your response to me pointing out your aggressive predatory contract is to tell me to review said contract/agreement.... You're one of the few golds franchisees that outsources your contract enforcement to a third party so you can distance yourself even further from your own agreement and not negotiate with paying customers.

Overall experience is not great. Just about everything could use more attention from maintenance to gym layout. Starting out the facility is small and has way to many people and the equipment is way to packed in and cramped. But the real issue is the fact that just about everything is broken most of the time or never filled. Toilet paper, hand soap, paper towels to dry your hand is always empty. Squirt bottles to clean machines are broken and if those aren't broker the paper towel dispensers themselves are broken. The roof was leaking for over a month and was overflowing a 50 gallon trash can and creating a pool right in the middle of the gym where all the cable machines are. The Air Conditioning is broken and so is the Suana. To really bring it all home, all of those things happen individually and all together. If its not one of those, its ALL happening at once. Today, Nothing was refilled, AC was Broken and very humid inside, Paper Towel Dispensers and Squirt bottles both broken, Soap Dispensers in the bathrooms broken. And what is frustrating is nobody seems to be fixing things, I get some things take time and are being worked on but it seems like they take much longer than they should for what should be basic maintenance.

This location is pretty small and always crowded. They also don’t have fitness classes, which I didn’t realize until I was almost done with the sign up process. I should have walked away, that’s on me. Between those two things the value just isn’t there. I chose the gym based on proximity to my home.

They continue to bill you after you cancel. You basically can’t cancel. We have been trying for months and months and months, countless conversations, emails and requests. If you sign up for this gym, you are signing up for lifetime membership- they will never stop billing you.

So far so good. Its small but they have a lot of really high end bodybuilding equipment in here. If you are looking for big open spaces than prob not for you but if you are looking for some new state of the art new equipment this is your spot. Separate facility for group classes which is cool.
Members seem to have great etiquette so far. Wish they had more clips for sure, but otherwise I am happy with it. Would love to see a south or east clt location like this.

The gym itself is great! The fact that Peak payment solutions deals with their memberships is where they went wrong. I called to cancel our memberships and the lady couldn’t even explain to me what I needed to pay/ do to finalize everything. Amazing gym! Super friendly and kind staff. The fitness manager, Adrain is one of a kind. He listens to what his customers say and doesn’t just push stuff on you to sell it, he truly caters each experience to his customers. Gym is clean and up to date. Personal trainers are also amazing. They again cater each session specially for that customer and are not a “one size fits all” kind of trainers. 10/10 would recommend!

I wanted to make an update to this post. I’ve been a personal training client of Dre’s for about 3ish months now. Today, in between set, he posed a question to me to give him some personal feedback on the experience of having him as a trainer. It took me a minute, to think because it’s just not something I’ve thought about. But I wanna share here what my thoughts have been so far.

Dre has been able to push me motivate me beyond what I even believed was capable. Dre is patient and understanding and truly understands that everybody is in a different starting position.
Dre listens to his clients. I recently brought up a concern about a plateau I hit and wasn’t losing weight. Instead of shrugging it off, we both collaborated to come up with something to try as a potential solution to the problem. He actually listens and takes in what his clients are saying and doesn’t just shrug off their input or opinion

Dre is also very accommodating and very communicative as well. I suffer from lower back pain and this was something Dre asked right at the onset of our time training so that way he could tailor my training to ensure to not aggravate or injure it. He doesn’t just have a cookie cutter “one training style fits all”. He’s able to tinker and change the training based on the individuals goals and performance of where they are now and where they wanna be.

I was truly unable to find any cons from my experience so far. I’ve worked with about 2-3 trainers prior and this is hands down the best and most top notch training I’ve ever had from somebody. I can’t thank Dre, and the rest of the Golds Gym staff, enough for their time and commitment to their members

Overall I like this gym. Its a bit smaller but they have a lot of toys for legs. This is a LEGS focused gym, I will say. Quite a bit of machines for back as well. Usually very clean, owner is on site quite a bit. I do wish they had a few more pieces for arms but they def got what you need to get a good pump. I have never been at prime time(5-7) but whenever I go I am able to get a workout in without waiting. If you like super bright gyms, not the spot for you-- I think they changed their window tint or something but good lighting for bodybuilding ---- NO FILMING AT THIS GYM which I like so much bc gyms are turning into movies studios

24 hour gym with a variety of top of the line equipment from Arsenal, Nautilus and more. The gym is always clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Nice, gym but really small. You can’t film yourself at all in this facility. If you are a military member, they no longer accept active and fit, but instead offer to charge you $30/month in addition to you still having to maintain active and fit membership for any other gyms you would like to use. Equipment is nice, but regularly broken. Join at your own risk.

The leadership at Golds has made some great improvements, spacing is better, new machines, and a separate personal training room. They’re also in the process of adding a bunch of new kettlebells and redoing the machine placement to maximize space. They’re willing to listen and put money into things that will help the gym and that’s awesome. Everywhere has issues but not everywhere will listen to their clientele and make changes, this gym does!

Also, Sam and the training group are awesome. I’ve been to many gyms and often the staff trainers are on their phones the whole time scrolling while their clients have horrible form, not here! The trainers here know what they’re doing and spend lots of time making sure their clients do too. I would recommend this gym to anyone would recommend their trainers to bodybuilders and newbies alike. Great job!

Overall, I really like this gym but I have to give it 3.5 stars (Google only lets me do whole stars for some reason) due to a few fixable issues that I’ve noticed in the 6 months I’ve been a member. First the positives, this gym is very clean and the staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. There is a good variety of equipment to target all the major and minor muscle groups as well. I also routinely observe the trainers helping the trainees with form, even minor corrections, which is something I don’t often see staff trainers do at other gyms. The new sauna is a great addition and from what I see, is a big hit with members. I see staff re-racking weights all the time so that things are where they should be for the next person, which is wonderful but also should not be necessary. I implore my fellow members to do better, clean your machine and put your weights away, it’s common courtesy.

Now for the negatives, of which there aren’t many; the first is that while having a variety of machines is good, the gym has gone too far and it's too crowded with machines. With the recent addition even more machines, it’s gotten to the point where you can barely pass between machines without climbing/stepping over part of one. There are also no longer enough weights (plates) to keep up with all the machines that require them. I routinely see people searching for plates or see a machine with only one or two plates racked on them. The biggest thing that is missing though is a proper grass and kettlebell area. As mobility exercises are becoming more popular the small grass area at this gym is not sufficient, nor is the handful of light kettlebells they have there. Right now they have one 30lb, one 40lb, and one 50lb kettlebell as their heaviest ones and that is just not enough to do much with. I love to see kettlebells, in pairs go up to at least 80lbs. I know kettlebells can be expensive but all of these could be purchased for the amount one of the new machines cost so the barrier should be pretty low.

To get to five stars, for me, I would love to see some of the duplicated machines removed. This would free up space to freely move around s well as free up plates for use on other machines. The biggest thing I’d like to see is a larger grass area with more kettlebells, as I outlined above. I do understand space is at a premium so I’d be happy with just some more kettlebells, both in pairs and at higher weights. One solution to all of these issues is, there is an entire room dedicated to cycling but I’ve never seen more than one person in it (and I vary my workout times) and usually they’re just warming up. With space at a premium, I think it would be great if that room was repurposed into being the grass area with kettlebells, medicine balls, TRX, and stretching equipment. Then the whole main floor could use the previous grass area and it would free up space, which may even reduce the need to remove machines because now you’ve got the space to spread them out appropriately.

Let me start by saying the owner & managers here are great.

The major problem is they use Peak Payment Solutions & they are beyond horrible. I provided proof of my move & they cancelled my 2 yr contract (which is crazy in itself).

Fast forward 6 weeks later & I’m getting billed $154 and it keeps adding money each month plus all these extra fees. There’s no phone number on the peak payment emails to call, although I have spoke to them and been more than willing to pay my last month & their $50 cancellation fee. But no, they want to add all these additional fees & it’s insanity.

Stay away from Golds due to their choice of payment processors. Let the proof be in their reputation.

This place is wonderful. My family loves coming here and it's convenient. The vibe is lit. The place is super clean. The staff is truly helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the work. I have been working with a great personal trainer (Samantha) for 3 months and although it's been hard, I see results. She creates the workouts for my goals and is very patient explaining the "what" and the "why" . And surprisingly I look forward to the workouts.

I have checked out every gym in the Charlotte metro area, this gym, by far has the cleanest environment, best variety of equipment, and the staff is incredibly friendly. I would recommend 10/10 to anyone looking for a new gym. Kaveh the managing partner gave me a tour and even showed me how to use some equipment I’ve never seen before. Don’t join any other gym until you have atleast checked this gym out. You won’t regret it.

Overall I really like this gym. It is small so it can get pretty crowded at peak times. Im happy with the price. I cant give it 5 stars because of the imbalance of equipment here. They are STACKED for legs. Prob best place to train legs in the city, maybe the state. They have a ton of chest equipment, like 12-13 machines, benches, cables. They have quite a bit of back machines as well, but not quite as much as chest and legs. Shoulders isnt terrible, but id like to see more stuff. ARMS Suck 3 machines TOTAL and two of them are trash. I get that arms are secondary muscles on chest and back but this golds has taken it to an extreme. Planet Fitness has better arm machines hands down. PLEASE TRASH THAT ARSENAL TRICEP PUSH DOWN MACHINE

I've read a lot of reviews on other golds gym in the facility and I am surprised 😯 and applaud on how bad there reviews are WOW. I currently have a membership at the golds gym in Huntersville and it's nowhere near as bad as those. Sign up NOW! I was at my previous gym for years until I spent ONE day here and fell in love. The gym is so clean, the staff members are always professional and welcoming, and the equipment is top notch. I am an experienced lifter, but every fitness level attends this location and the members are all nice yet focused on their workouts. They have reasonable memberships and being 24/7 is a PLUS. Need I say more?
This was the best decision I’ve made in a while and every single workout has been killer - they play great music as well.

Gym has decent equipments and they will do any false promises to make you join the membership and if you decide to quit for any reason you are going to be charged a very heavy fees which is ok if it was communicated.

Visited this gym to check it out. The facility, and its equipment, are still very new and are open 24 hours a day. There is a great variety of equipment here, and basically everything you'd be looking for in a gym. However it is relatively expensive compared to certain other gyms, but everything that it offers as well as its great location & hours make this one of the top gym choices in the area.

The new facility itself is very nice but not impressed with management. I understand the business decision to split from corporate but the zero communication to members with access to multiple facilities lacked professionalism. I was willing to change my membership but no one advised of the monthly rate since I was out of contact. Last correspondence was three days ago and now crickets. Had I known this was going to happen I would have signed the agreement before realizing I was locked out the gym at 3am.

Very corrupt company!!! Neary impossible to cancel, will continue charging you as you try to cancel. After 10 years with them you pretty much need a lawyer to get them to stop payment. Please ask them about there cancelation policy. Do your self a favor and go to another Gym..any other gym!!

It has a constant funk to it. It's small, which does affect your workout on a constant basis. Management was a joke. Go sign up at the Gold's Gym near UNCC, it's worth the drive.

This gym is okay. I only go because it’s close to where I live. Very small gym with only one squat rack. The facilities are unsanitary. There’s been pink mold growing on the water fountains for at least 6 months. Equipment is not cleaned regularly. One pass over the equipment with a paper towel produces a ton of dead skin and grime.

Not a sufficient gym for powerlifting. There is only one squat rack and one Smith machine. Area is very cramped overall, with no decent place for stretching. Carpet seems dirty and the gym smells funky upon entrance.

Due to a move, we had to cancel membership. The cancellation process is extremely difficult, even though they say a move is a reason you may cancel. This gym will forward you to a company called ABC Financial, and you'll never be able to see them in person. You are required to send in all kinds of documentation, they'll eventually get back with you (and they will nit pick everything!) with what they think of your documentation. Then, after you've met their required hoops to jump through, they charge you $50 per account. Finally, after a month and emails confirming that the account is cancelled, they continue to charge you and you have to call back in to not only cancel but get a credit back. If you don't pay it, they'll turn you in to collection agencies.
Highly recommend you stay away from this gym.

Unfortunately, I am going to have to find another gym. I've been a member here since they opened. It was great when they started as it was well kept and convenient. Slowly, it has dwindled down to a mess if a place. Doors very seldom work, machines aren't cleaned and not properly serviced and working as they should. Another gentleman and I, just this morning, both tried at least 3 treadmills before we found ones that worked but neither of our attached TVs work. I've tried calling before and could never get anyone that was directly affiliated with this gym. I just give up. It's a shame as it is so close to where we live, but just not worth the headaches to get stuff up and running when you get here.

Golds gym is one of the best gyms in Charlotte, I meant cuz I tried most of the gyms here and this is the best gym that you can join (highly recommended) , the staff are really nice people ,specially the management!! kaveh is one of the most amazing people I ever met he’s workin hard to let the family members have the best experience ever at golds.

From day one my experience at Gold's Gym has been amazing! I regularly visit the North Lake location for my regular workouts. Beginning as a "Novice," I felt it was best to gain some knowledge from a fitness professional before starting my journey. Once assigned to trainer Austin Collins and consistently working with Austin over an expansive period has exceeded all my expectations. Austin understood my personal goals from day one and followed through with helping meet those goals. Austin is passionate in sharing his training methods, goal planning and most importantly the mastery of his profession. Overall the staff is amiable, accommodating, and provide a comfortable environment for any level fitness guru. If you're looking for a great trainer and excellent experience I highly encourage requesting Austin at Gold's Gym North Lake.

It is a small shoe box gym with tight areas.
The 24 HR access does not work with the badge and on last 2 visits, Saturday & Sunday, the towel service wasn't available, the computerized check didn't work, and bathroom was dirty and shower for the men hasn't worked in numerous days.
It would be appreciated if a client could use benefits offered. Rethinking my joining this gym.
1 year later and this gym has worsened, if that was even possible.
Numerous people on 07/20/2019 were wishing they also joined a different gym.
Would prefer a better gym experience, but Highland Creek is very very limited - shame too.
Recommend noone spend their money at this "gym" as too many problems that continue to grow in number.

After I reported some concerns that I was having with managnment they quickly responded to my situation... I must admit I was looking for the worst outcome, because sometimes in large gyms they don't want to here what we have to say..
This experience as much different. I was contacted by more than one VP from corporate to help with my issue.. They were very understanding and ensured me that consumer service is their number 1 goal. Thanks again Mike & Sharon

Great local gym that has done a 180 since new management took over. Staff is responsive to questions/comments. Its great seeing the same faces in the gym everyday as consistency is important. Chelsea is always running around ensuring everything is in its place which shows compared to other gyms where weights and other equipment are scattered all over the place.

This facility is very clean and well taken care of. It has great equipment with a very friendly staff. The general manager, Kaveh, is very professional, outgoing and made the sign up process very easy. He took the time to explain all the options carefully and I did not even to bother to explore further gyms before signing up with him. Thank you for your help Kaveh!

I've been a member for just over a year. I found the staff to be incredibly friendly and outgoing. I like the fact that they have taken the time to get to know me and what I am hoping to get out of my workouts. The gym fits my lifestyle perfectly, with the 24 hour availablity can go whenever I have the time.

I really appreciate how friendly and attentive the staff are. Cleanliness is on point, and I don't find myself compensating with alternative workouts because the options of equipment are spectacular. I can get in, get my workout, not feel stressed out about people hanging out on the equipment, because everyone going here has one goal, and that's to work out.
