Turn around and run from this gym. I signed up through Medicare Advantage plan. They pay the monthly dues. I also purchased what I thought was 4 training sessions . They (Cooper) locked me into a full year at $280 a month. Was told no problem you can cancel. THAT IS A LIE!!!!. Between Golds and Peak collection, been getting the run around. I recently moved to the area and was looking for a nearby gym I could attend 5 days a week. This gym is only 4 minutes away from me, compared to my current gym, which is 20 minutes away, so I thought it would be a great fit. I stopped by to inquire about their month-to-month option, as I’ll be moving again in six months, and this was the only membership type that made sense for me.

However, I was shocked when I learned about their fees: $26 bi-weekly, a $19 processing fee, a $99 enrollment fee, and a $69 annual enhancement fee. The total I would’ve had to pay on my first day was around $175! For a gym in this area, these fees seem outrageous.

I took a tour, and while the facility is decent, the equipment was outdated, the sauna didn’t work, and there’s no pool or steam room—just a basic gym. It’s hard to see what those high fees are going toward. My current gym, which is much nicer, only charges $40 per month. While it’s no longer close to me, it’s worth the extra travel for the value I get.

This gym is essentially an upgraded Planet Fitness, but their pricing is far too high for what they’re offering. Trust me I hate planet fitness. They should consider lowering their rates to $30–$40 per month, which would be more reasonable for the amenities they provide. For now, I’d rather pay less and travel farther for a better gym experience. Gold’s Gym, you need to do better.

So included in your (Gym) membership they’re supposed to be access to a sauna and a hot tub. I’ve been going to Randleman for about six months now because I moved away from my home gym, which is Brasfield. Wendover has the same qualities and amenities as Brassfield. Randleman Road, would be the hood gym of them all lol. They don’t have a working sauna. They don’t have a working steam room that’s advertised and it has been inoperable for about three yeas or more. And they don’t have any type of water filtration on the water fountains. Oh, and I got charged a 25$ late fee for my membership, the same day it was due!!!

I have been going to Golds Gym for several years. I love the spin, Pilates, conditioning and other classes excellent instructors. I have been using a personal trainer for several months and he has helped me regain my strength in my shoulder after an injury. They have janitors constantly cleaning. Update 7/2024:
This gym is making efforts to improve and I'm greatly appreciative that management is taking notice of customer concerns. Went from 3 Star to 3.5, but rounded up to 4 Star

The staff seems much more open and friendly.

The gym is still a little confusing, but manageable and allows you to walk around to interact with different parts of the facility.

Since the original review the gym has added a turf area for sprints, stretching, and tabata work. In additional, they've posted signs to "encourage" members to rerack their weights by threat of fining them $50. I think the fine is a little tough, but it's a step in the right direction.

Peak Payment is still an issue with me. They don't have great customer service and make it difficult to get proper documentation of receipts but will instead just type it out in an email instead of a formal document which makes it difficult to expense to my employer.

As of this post the pool and sauna still aren't open for use.

Mediocre gym. It gets the job done, but nothing to brag about considering the name it carries.

The staff is about 50/50 with being very friendly versus not giving you the light of day or even looking you in the eye. Although they have been pleasant when forcing interaction.

The equipment is all fairly well maintained with a decent variety. They have dumbbells ranging from 5lbs to over 110lbs with half increments up to 22.5lbs I believe. HOWEVER, in terms of organization this is one of the worst gyms I can recall ever going to. Member accountability of re-racking free weight equipment is virtually non-existent and rarely do I see staff in notifying or regularly organizing. Machines seem to be placed in random order and I don't really see a flow so it's hard to know where to go next. Small equipment like cable bars, grips/handles, rubber logs, etc. seem to go missing from day to day and/or are not returned to their respective spots after use leaving you to traverse the whole gym to find anything.

Not the gyms direct fault, but personal hygiene of some members is a problem and you can get stuck in a funk throughout the gym. The funk seems to have walked in with them, not gained at the gym and it's pretty reoccurring instances.

As some have stated prior, Peak Payment leaves a lot to be desired. Their system of giving receipts is out of date and not as concise as I had hoped.

Something I wish I knew prior to starting my membership is that it doesn't work if I travel out of the state to another Gold's Gym and only works within a certain network locally.

Also, for those interested in becoming a member, some things to note are the pool still isn't open as of this post. There is no track or lanes to run. While there is a turf area, it's difficult to consider it a running surface or sled area (which they have) as others utilize the space for stretching and such as they should. There is no dedicated running area outside of the treadmill within the facility. There is a parking lot on the side of the building with little to no traffic though.

Overall I'm okay with this gym. Not happy, but not upset enough to leave (not to mention the ridiculous contracts Gold's holds you to). It's en route to/from work which is why I moved gyms after moving from the N side to the S side. Strive Performance and Fitness was WAY better. Unfortunately it was 20mins in the opposite direction. I will not be renewing my contract when the time comes and will make the inconvenient drive instead for a better gym, but I'm hoping this gym can change my mind by then.

Something I'd like to see implemented (and I know they have the money to do considering the membership fees) is to install a MyZone tracker to build community and motivation. Another thing I'd like to see is RockBot or something of the sort like they have at Planet Fitness.

Don't go here. The locked in a personal trainer contract for two years. I was told the personal training was $165 a month not $165 bi-weekly. I told them I couldn't afford it yet they still tried to charge and tell me I have to buy out my contract to no longer pay for their services. This is a scam and they don't do anything to help you. I've been with this gym for almost 10yrs and the new management has absolutely brought down the establishment. It's dark (black walls and terrible wall paper) and gives warehouse/bootcamp vibes. Machines are still old and now there's an extra fee semi annually.

I've been going to Gold's Gym when it use to be the Rush. I'd say its been about 15/16 years. My trainers are Vonnie (cycling) and April (Zumba Step). Those are great trainers. Im disappointed that we're not having the sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and pool classes any more. The staff is great especially the receptionists. I enjoy going to this gym because it makes me feel like I'm a part of instead of a part from.

I have been a member at Gold's on Randleman Road for over 5 years and I have always loved working out here. Some of my favorite parts about Gold's on Randleman are the variety of fun equipment (tires, kettlebells, the sleds, agility ladders, etc.), the staff friendliness, and how the members are welcoming. It seems like lots of people come to this gym because they enjoy the company too.
I would recommend Gold's on Randleman to anyone, no matter your age, fitness level, etc. If you come here enough, you will feel at home even if you haven't spent much time in a gym before. It's a great place to workout! And they offer a free personal training session for all new members.

When you go to the gym they are deceptive when it comes to their cancellation practices. Other gyms like planet fitness tell you up front what day you have to cancel by, gold’s says it in your contract. I signed a contract 6 years ago, why don’t you put it on the cancellation you sign instead of charging blindly. Planet fitness is 10.00 per month. This gym continues to charge unauthorized charges to CC. There is no one helpful to talk to. There is no way to contact corporate. After taking it up with my bank I am still out $50. ..for a service that isn’t used or agreed too. I have emailed the owner over and over with no resolution. I guess in order to stay in business they have to charge that they have cc info for. The terms and agreement were never agreed to - in fact, when I tried to read them, it said I didn’t have an account. Yet I have had 2 charges from them. $49.?? And a random $20 charge.

They charge a late fee when the money is in the account the DAY that’s it’s due and they always have problems processing our payments and charge a late fee! We have tried for a month to get things squared away with our accounts and came in 4 different times to show them proof we had money in the account and they still take the late fee!!
So, because of all this, we decided to quit and of course they charge $100 cancellation fee. Weights all over the place. Benches sway and are unstable, only 2 squat racks, there are two serviceable stiff bars the rest will roll in your wrist or back (for bench and squats) and there aren't enough adjustable benches if you do dumbbell exercises.

If you're determined to reach your weight loss & fitness goals, this facility has everything you need. The women's room does need lots of care & several of the treadmills on the main floor need to be repaired. But overall, you can get things done here to improve your body.
