IVE been a member of a YMCA for 5 years. Loveddddd the one I come from. New to this YMCA & completing my registration and the lady at the desk was extremely rude & talked to me like I was an uneducated child!! And then smiled in my face as she continued to complete my registration. Professionalism definitely needed here!!

Years ago, I came to this YMCA after sleeping in my car, and asked about a day pass for a shower. The lady at the front desk showed me great kindness, at a time when I was alone. She let me use the shower and gave me two free day passes to come back. I never used the passes, but I passed through Goldsboro today and thought of this lady and this YMCA. I hope to return and pay for a day pass now. And I hope to never forget their kindness.

I have been a member at this Y for almost 15 years. The conditions as it relates to maintenance have always been a concern, but especially during the last 1-2 years this facility has become not only in extreme and unsafe disrepair, but has also become unhealthy in its sanitation practices. For example, several used bandaids were laying in the drain of the shower for more than 3 days with in the last week, many of the shower stations are non-functional and have been this way for more than 6 months, the carpet and the floors haven’t been cleaned or replaced in YEARS, the sauna has molded, filthy benches and floors, the steam room has a drain that has a visibly obstructed drain grate from cakes on dirt, the benches in the steam room (with the exception of 2 that a member bought with their own funds and donated) are warped and cracked, the one blow dryer left in the locker room has a major electrical shortage in it, just to name a few. The equipment is mostly he same that has been there for more years than I have been a member, the paint is peeling off of the walls and if you make mention of any of this to the front desk, it is met with a sour/rude response and nothing happens. This place is mismanagement in living color. If this place received a health standard/cleanliness inspection it would be closed down. Goldsboro is a prime place for another gym with similar amenities to move into the area. The only reason the Y is still in operation there is because there are no comparable options as far as amenities. This Y continues to collect and raise their membership fees, but absolutely nothing improves. This is a bad reflection on the Y as a whole because I also used the Raleigh, NC Y locations and have never experienced such anything remotely close to the disaster that is Goldsboro Family Y.

I love the YMCA Team here, as well as, all the things they do for the local community and the kids. My family and I went to their Halloween Trunk or Treat event, and they did an amazing job!
Unfortunately, I couldn't give it a 5 star. For the amount of the monthly family plan costs, a lot of things are completely outdated or broken. Upgrades are really needed all around: both fitness rooms, locker rooms, all carpets need to be replaced, and honestly the list goes on. A lot of areas even have a musty smell due to the old carpets and who knows what else.

Essentially stole my money. From an extremely misleading camp description, to poor management of kids and allowing harassment between kids. From claiming they would refund future classes(which I haven't received a month later), to telling me day of that my kid couldn't participate because we owed the payment(when we paid in full at sign up). This place is a completey aweful and has somehow scammed me out of $600+ dollars. Go anywhere else, and I mean anywhere. Stay far far away.

Not all the front staff, but quite a few have the worst attitudes. I signed up for a YMCA class & the employee helping me asked me to pay for the class which I did at HER request. Come to find out the class was canceled. You’d think getting my money back for the class that never happened would be a piece of cake - NOT even close. The front staff acted as if I was the problem asking for my money back for a class they canceled. I was told in a snippy way by the “manager” Rhonda that my refund would be complete in 10 - 14 days. That was nearly TWO months ago. When I would go in to check on the status of the refund Rhonda dreaded seeing me which is interesting because I didn’t create this issue - her employee did. Jessica who called me about the refund was professional & kind. If Rhonda hates dealing with customers she should find a new job. It’s not my fault your employee charged me for something she shouldn’t have. My advice: DO NOT pay for a class or camp until the day it is actually occurring. You can register without paying until the actual class occurs. However, I will never step foot in this place again at least not while that front staff is there. I have friends that come here & they say the same- the front staff most of the time is annoyed when they have to assist people. If you don’t like working or dealing with the public go find a new job. You are losing potential clients because of who you have running the front. Good Luck!

This YMCA is outdated and poorly maintained. The equipment is old, some of it broken, and the air conditioning is barely functional—making workouts pretty miserable. The facility really needs a major upgrade. Do not recommend.

Have been going here for years and recently had taken a turn for the worse! Membership is too high for the state of equipment, but putting that aside, when I showed up this morning, a staff member of theirs, Alexandra, was incredibly rude and made my family not feel welcome in their so “welcoming environment.” I wouldn’t usually make a big deal of this, but this isn’t the first time I have been belittled here! I am now looking into other gyms, as their staffing and overall management has taken quite a turn. I suggest anyone looking into this facility do the same.

Ronda and the staff at the YMCA are simply amazing!!! But Ronda does go about and beyond her position as a Customer Specialist Supervisor!!! Her ability to make not only myself and family feel welcomed every time we attend, but all individuals and families as well. This why I continue to attend and use the YMCA facility as my place of health fitness.

Not enough equipment, also all the equipment is so old. Definitely needs new and up to date like the ymca in wilson nc. Membership is to expensive to have to workout on 20 plus year old equipment that's taped up or not working only two stair masters and gym stays pack.

The open and close hours just blows me away! They close at 8:30 pm on a weekday, and close earlier on Saturday- on top of forcing people out 15 minutes earlier than the closing time. This is when most people are off. They also close on Sunday. I truly don’t understand, and will never purchase a membership.

I left church looking forward to working out. However, without any notifications, I was told that the YMCA is now closed on Sundays. The hours already are poor, now with no reduction in cost/fees, you discover that instead of increasing the hours, they exclude Sunday workouts. I just renewed my membership and I am going to workout elsewhere. I bet you they will not refund my money.

I grew up here as a kid... But now it is such a sad establishment.. This once Pillar of the Community is now LITERALLY stealing money from the elderly. Policy changes now make it impossible to pause payment without being charged for their next month regardless of use. This alongside their disgusting misuse of the same powers during COVID-19 are why I will never again support them. Pretending to help our families while taking advantage of their primarily Senior Citizen customer base is appalling.

A little boy was molested in the bathroom months ago and the Y has yet to file any type of police report or investigation into the incident. The looker rooms are very unsafe for children of age bc anything can happened in there. If you have sons keep them away from that locker room.

Overall I didn’t have any major issues I got to the equipment I wanted to use no problems and I love the sauna main reason I like the Y no other gym has this. But it could use some updating for sure for the membership fees to go up. They handle issues poorly I put a hold on my account for a month and did this online after doing that is stated a member from services will contact you. Did not think anything of it until I check back later on after the payment was suppose to come out and they tried to attempt a payment? The card I had on filed expired sometime before the payment was suppose to come out did not think anything of it because again I put a hold on the account. The account now has a late fee plus the member fee huh? I have called 2 or 3 times to get this issue fixed because I want to continue going at a later date and they kept saying upfront such and such will contact you and whoever this lady was NEVER contacted me completely blew me off shows how sorry the services there are after that I said ok I can go anywhere and pay less with better equipment and services. So in all I will not return so no fees from me!

This is the most expensive gym membership in Goldsboro and doesn’t provide near enough equipment for a solid workout. It needs better management and the facility needs better care. The men’s jacuzzi is disgusting. This pic doesn’t do it justice because there was a gray, dirty film on top.

States they close at 8:30pm. Rushed across town to get there at 8:00 pm to walk for thirty mins. The scanners was put up and they told me they close workout areas and gym at 8:15. Well if that’s the case they need to change the hours to 8:15 because there is nothing left to do there if all the areas are closed.

Not a fan. Literally tried to get a guest pass and they said I am not allowed to use the daycare without having a membership which is absurd and have never heard that anywhere. Then proceeded to fill out all the paperwork and wasn’t told this till the end. Thanks.

This is one of the most horrible YMCAs ever. The employees treat their visitors and each other like sub-human garbage and most of the facility doesn't properly function. They accuse people and spread untruthful rumors like they want to get rid of people.

These guys need to be reported NOW!!!

Evidently Patrick Eason is an idiot and doesn't know what he is talking about. I have been to several YMCA locations around NC and think Carl is one of the best Aquatic managers I have seen yet. I would defiantly recommend the Goldsboro YMCA pool to anyone

Great place to go and get a good workout. Hot tub, jacuzzi, hot steam room and showers are available. Great indoor swimming pools, one is a heated therapeutic pool and the other is Olympic size. Indoor track. Huge basketball courts. Plenty of things to choose from.

So glad to hear you respect our girls and women’s privacy and have separate locker rooms for male and females, and a unisex option. Wish all of your YMCA locations would follow suit!

Worst attitude ever. Literally walked in the work out room with my younger daughter to tell my oldest daughter it’s time to go. The biggest Karen who had the worst attitude starting telling me “leave, you! Leave now, you need to get out of here.” When I said “I’m about to, I’m trying to get my daughter”. She said “I don’t care, it’s simple leave”. Then proceeded to stare us down, rolling her eyes until we all left.

I’ve been trying for months to join so that my kids can take swimming classes and I can workout at the gym. It’s been well over two months since I dropped my financial application off and no one has called me back. I tried calling to speak with the lady who handles them several times and each time I do I’m told ‘She’s busy.’

I like this gym a lot! The staff is always friendly and the facility is really clean. There's a great selection of things to do (weight room, racquet ball, all the cardio machines, basketball, swimming, etc) and the price is really reasonable! My only ask would be that they get a dedicated computer for people to check in. It seems like every time I go I get stuck in like for 5-10 minutes waiting to check in because someone is signing up or loudly being rude/complaining at the front desk staff.

Used the pool for early morning laps. Great way to get in shape. The heated salt water pool gets crowded quick, so get there at open if you want a lane. I preferred the "cold" pool when they didn't have the lane divider. But even when only half length is available you get a good workout!

The rates here are ridiculously high. The shuford YMCA back home in Western NC is way cheaper. 15 dollars to be a guest for 2 hours of basketball is Ludacris. Back home it is 5 dollars. I workout at Planet fitness because it is way more affordable. I do not recommend this YMCA unless you want to break your bank.

The middle age blonde lady working at the front desk is one of rudest person I've ever met! She always interrogate me and my son everyday in a harsh tone, asking for our names, ages, and what we are doing. Even after we checked ourselves in with our membership card. My son has been a member of YMCA for several years participating in swimming classes, and we never had this problem with other staff members. Sometimes we run a bit late for his swim meeting, we just don't have the time to be questioned EVERY SINGLE TIME with the same questions! You see us everyday! I don't know if any other people have to go through the same issues as we do, or she just have some reason to dislike us. It makes us not feel very welcome, as we did in the past.

This place is great. Looking for an amazing pool, basketball court (along with occasional games here and there you can watch for free), workout room, amazingly nice people, and A place for the kids to run free while you hang out with your friends in the pool or working out, this is A great place for all of that!!!! Great costumer service and military discounts, just in case you are stationed in Seymour Johnson or retired, and just an all time fun experience. Also A great place for the kids so Mom and Dad get to have some alone time without worrying if they are alright or not. This is A 100% truthful review as I lived in Goldsboro for about 4 years and I can tell you, it might be A bit costly for A membership, BUT IT IS WORTH IT!
Hope my review helped <3 bey.

Today after many years I quit the YMCA of goldsboro. The reason is quite simple. It would be nothing for me to workout 2 or 3hours with not so much as a hello from the staff or members. It takes alot for me to go to the gym on a regular basis but I know with my health it is the most important thing I can do for myself. About 6 months ago I walked into a planet fitness and was greeted with a hello and a smile.these people were genuinely nice something I've never experienced at the goldsboro YMCA. They don't care if your gay, straight, black or white they just want you to feel welcome. The gym with real Christian values is not the one with the c in the name.
