Best personal training in Charlotte hands-down! Ashton Baalaer has built a fantastic gym and culture at Intertia Fitness. He only hires the best of the best when it comes to his trainers. I’ve been getting personal training at Inertia Fitness for under a year, and I genuinely can’t say enough good things—especially about my trainer, Brie. As a fat woman with a bit more limited mobility and a history of injuries, finding a trainer who truly sees and supports me has made all the difference. Brie is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and creative. She meets me exactly where I am and always finds ways to make movements work for my body, without ever making me feel less than. I leave our sessions feeling strong, proud, and empowered.

What I also love is that Brie doesn’t just accommodate—she uplifts. She’s all about celebrating progress, listening, and encouraging in a way that is so real and respectful. The other trainers at Inertia are also awesome—everyone seems to root for one another, no matter where they’re starting from.

Our college-age daughter trained with Lexi and could not have been happier with the results. A budding athlete in her youth and into high school, our daughter was totally derailed by Covid. After several years, she was ready to get back in the gym, but apprehensive about doing it on her own. Lexi's coaching was exemplary, and not just the physical side. Ashton at Inertia has been the best trainer I’ve ever worked with. He takes the time to understand your fitness history, weaknesses and goals in a way that allows him to hand craft a program (not just a copy and paste). His plan allows you to pivot at any moment if pain arises through training. I’m very busy for work and also entertain clients during most of my meals. Ashton was able to take the menus from the eateries I most frequent and craft a feasible nutrition plan for when I’m out and about. He also goes above and beyond to foster a community between all clients of Inertia Fitness by planning events to build deeper relationships between other clients and the other trainers. 10/10 recommend.

I cannot say enough great things about the team at Inertia Fitness! The trainers are professional and experienced with personal training. They help you accomplish your fitness and nutritional goals. The nutricional aspect was a big plus for me! I’ve trained with other personal trainers but Inertia has helped me the most with my relationship with food (eating more protein and knowing that is okay to have carbs).
If you are looking for someone who actually cares about your body and mind this is the place for you.

I started training with the owner, Ashton, back in December 2023. My goal was to become more confident in myself when lifting heavier, proper form, injury prevention, and overall improve wellness. It is now March 2024 and I am lifting heavy on my own, I feel 100x better, and I’ve made significant lifestyle changes. All of the staff is very motivating and friendly and the atmosphere radiates positivity. I highly recommend starting off working with your trainer in person. Aside from in the gym, Ashton does a great job trying to get everyone involved in group activities and from what I’ve seen we all pretty much show up. Lexi has been training me for 4 months and I couldn’t be more impressed with her knowledge of the body and how to make changes using programming and nutrition. Our training session began mid-July with a thorough intake where we detailed out my goals and timeline. She has built and coached me through a program that I’m so dang happy with. She’s even supported me through injury and physical therapy (not an injury due to training but a long-term issue that flared up and we adjusted). She goes above and beyond to communicate, understand and [bless her heart] deals with my insane schedule and has always been flexible without complaint. I can’t wait to bulk in Jan with her. I moved to Charlotte in July of 2023 and decided it was time to get a personal trainer after years of trying to do it on my own only to constantly get derailed by back issues. I was lucky to find that Inertia Fitness came highly recommended and was super close by! I set up an initial consultation and the minute I met with Lexi I knew I came to the right place. She immediately made me feel comfortable and, for the first time, like my goals were actually achievable. In the 3.5 months, I've worked with her, she has continued to show me I made the right choice. She puts the client first and really tailors your program to be exactly what you need and makes adjustments when life can get in the way. She's adjusted my program so I can stay consistent when traveling for work and even recommended a physical therapist to help with my back issues (which has already had a drastic improvement). I am forever grateful for Lexi and the Inertia team!

I started going to Inertia and working with Lexi a few months ago. From the start I was so impressed. In my intake form I mentioned having scoliosis and wanting to strengthen my back in light of that. Before I got to my initial consult Lexi had already researched about scoliosis so she could know more about it and better help me - note, this was before I even committed to working with her!!

That’s a great example of the kind of trainer and person Lexi is. Lexi is always finding ways to work with me for my overall well-being. She teaches me so much and pushes me in exactly the right amounts! Not to mention, I went out of the country for one month and before I left she got me to get her pictures of the gyms I’d have access to and she made sure I had workouts no matter what. That was a big ask but she did it without a hesitation and never made me feel like a bother.

To top it all off, I not only feel cared for and supported but there’s been visible and physical progress. I feel so much stronger. I’m eating way better. My friends and family have noticed a difference. I know so much more about my body and what I’m capable of and I truly give so much of that credit to Lexi.

Lastly, while I’ve only worked with Lexi, I have no doubt that the rest of the staff is equally as wonderful. Every time I see Ashton he always gives the most welcoming smile. It’s a wonderful environment - both in terms of the space and the people.

I’m so glad I found Inertia and through it - Lexi! I couldn’t recommend a gym or a trainer more!

If I could give 10000 stars, I would! I started my journey with trainer Lexi at the end of May. I was strictly doing HIIT classes 5 days a week but felt and saw no change. Truly defeated. My experience at Inertia Fitness has definitely exceeded all of my expectations! My son, who is 15, has been working with Christian Hill and you can really see results. My son is now confident to take his shirt off because he actually has muscles where once my son was over weight. Christian plans programs based on individual needs and desires. I was very reluctant to go to the gym and do things like lifting weights and doing squats. Since being at Inertia I am now very confident and have learned also from Christian how to use weights and equipment in order for me to work independently when I am not in a session with him. The trainers at Inertia are really thorough with the workouts and insist on stretching before and after workouts so that as a client you won't get hurt. They truly care for each of their client's needs and are flexible with scheduling. Going to Inertia means you are paying for a highly skilled trainer and I will not leave this gym for a different trainer because they have met my expectations and beyond!!

Inertia Fitness is AMAZING! If you're anything like me and have a bit of 'Gym-timidation' (intimidation regarding the gym) their trainers are exactly what you need. Unfortunately I moved out of the city so I ended my membership but because of the things I learned with Inertia Fitness I can go into any gym in the world and confidently get a great work out in all by myself. Before Inertia, I wasted a year at planet fitness not knowing how to work out, what to work on what day, or what proper form for anything was. The patience of the trainers with Inertia is absolutely unmatched and there is no judgment for what you don't know. He truly gives each person he trains 110% of him, going above and beyond for clients - whether that include a trial of a new product you’ve been wanting to test out, discussing nutrition and food alternatives, changing workouts up for your needs, or even just chatting away about life during sessions. I wanted to try out having a personal trainer for a few months just to give it a shot and I’m so glad I found Ashton with Mind Muscle Hustle. I would recommend the services here to anyone.

Ashton and his team are great! I've been training with them for about 7 months, and the progress I've seen is truly amazing. I went from squatting bar only (and with terrible form) to 135lb with great form! My deadlifts went from 135lb to 225llb. My overall form has significantly improved, and most importantly, I feel good! Ashton has a great balance of pushing you without being too harsh. Easily the BEST Personal Trainers in Charlotte. I go to a lot of different gyms and I have experience working in a gym setting. One thing that drives me crazy is seeing trainers who don’t care about their clients, don’t pay attention to them, on their phone, taking their money and not helping the client whatsoever.
