When my doctor suggested I start strength training for my bone health I felt daunted. I always thought weight lifting and working out in a gym setting was for other people, not me. Enter IPT. As a resident of Madison Park I wanted to support a local business and I have been extremely pleased with the experience. Mike and Kai have been very patient and are never annoyed with my questions and need for help. They both are a wealth of information about fitness, improving your health and pushing yourself to meet your goals...all within a supportive environment. If I could give this place 100 stars, I would. Working with Coach Mike and Coach Kai for the past 7 months has been absolutely amazing. I never thought I would be where I am now, but I am, and I owe it all to these two. The amount of knowledge, growth, pounds lost (41) and of course all those gained muscles is at an all-time high and at 48, I am in the best shape of my life. Thank you both for everything!!!

If you’re looking for a gym in Charlotte that actually gets you- your goals, your motivation, your lifestyle - Integral Performance Training is the place. I live in the Myers Park area and this is the best gym around.
From day one, Mike (the owner) and the coaches, Kai and Kaelin, made me feel welcomed and supported. They take the time to understand not just what you want to achieve, but why, whether it’s having more energy to play with your kids, improving mobility to move through life pain-free, or getting stronger for sport or everyday life.
The programming is personalized and thoughtful, blending strength training, weight training, mobility work, and recovery strategies in a way that’s effective and sustainable. I joined as a small group fitness client, and even when personal training sessions were happening around me, the coaches were always available and attentive.
Kai has an amazing way of breaking down movements and explaining the “why” behind everything - like how a specific lift mimics something you’d do in real life (think unloading groceries or lifting a kid). Kaelin often works with athletes on improving explosiveness, mobility, and performance - his approach and knowledge is next-level.
Mike is laid-back, super flexible, and clearly invested in your progress. With tools like the InBody scanner and a user-friendly app for tracking workouts, meals, and progress, you’re set up for real, visible results.
This isn’t just another gym. It’s a place where personal training, strength and conditioning, and injury prevention and recovery all come together with purpose and heart. Highly recommend!

Place was very clean and well organized. It didn’t take lots of brain power to find what I needed. The workouts provided by fitness trainers were easy to follow and yet challenging to the muscle groups that they intended to target. If you haven’t given this place a try then you are doing your journey a disservice.

I joined IPT in January and I love it!
The workouts are challenging but doable. They push you to be better in the best way. Some days you’ll be going heavy and others you are going for reps. You’ll never get bored, even going every day. In the three months I’ve been going there, I’ve lost fat and built muscle. IPT even has an InBody scanner to track your progress.
Mike and Ron are both great trainers! They help you on your form and are happy to demonstrate any move for you during the workout. The environment of the gym overall is supportive and makes me want to come back day after day.

My husband and I moved to Charlotte June of 2021. After trying out many different gyms we have found our gym home. IPT is a great mix of different style training (cardio, strength, HIIT, etc.). Mike and Nick do a great job programming the workouts. They help you get proper form and teach you new lifts if you don't know how to do something. Have really enjoyed working out here.

I was never the “gifted” athlete with crazy athleticism , but within just a couple of months I saw major improvement in my movement. Best gym for my needs. I have two young children so I needed the flexibility and accountability that IPT provides. Working out with Nick and Mike has been great, they tailor the workouts to my needs and abilities. I'm so grateful I joined the IPT community a few months ago. I've always been an avid group fitness goer but had fallen off the wagon with Covid. While I was originally just looking for a way to jumpstart my routine and get back into heavier lifting, the IPT classes have blown my expectations out of the water. The weekly programming is thoughtful and balanced - emphasizing both strength and metabolic conditioning - and curated in a way that allows you to see measurable progress.
Coaches Mike and Nick have created a really special community. They take the time to understand personal goals and are always willing to help support needs in and out of the gym. Unlike the other group classes I had attended in the past, their classes are small (< 6 people) and inherently create a close-knit bond between members. I'm so grateful for the added accountability of the small group setting, as well as the friendships I've developed over the last few months. It makes all the difference!

I have been working out with Coach Mike for about a year now. I have had several trainers in the past and Coach Mike is by far the BEST. He is flexible, caters workouts to your needs, and makes working out fun with his talented DJ skills. Last year my sister and I were recovering from ACL surgeries and Coach Mike helped us build our hamstring muscles and regain confidence in our mobility. The workouts are just hard enough to push you to the limit and if you can't do something for whatever reason they give an alternative and make sure you do it right so you don't hurt yourself. Integral Performance Training is a gym I didn't think existed -- a gym without a pre-existing standard of what "fitness" looks like. Before starting with IPT, I was struggling to figure out what physical fitness meant to me. I needed both motivation and and a plan, and I couldn't find that at other gyms. With IPT, I found a gym grounded in physiology and exercise science that didn't judge me for where I was. My trainer was able to objectively assess my physical strengths and weaknesses, and provided me with the tools and rationale to improve myself. "Movement is medicine" is a saying used by both Nick and Mike, founders of the gym, and they really practice what they preach.
After training with IPT for the past 6-months, I've achieved goals I never thought possible, and along the way I never really felt the "work" part of workout. Every exercise had its purpose, working toward a goal I felt would benefit me in every-day life. I wasn't worried about whether I was working harder than those around me, or if I was wasting my time doing pointless exercises. Instead, I met a stand-up pair of trainers who give their all right alongside their clients, adjusting seamlessly to the needs and limitations of every situation.
I'm in the best shape I've ever been, and I feel it in every aspect of my life, from mowing the lawn to moving boxes out of storage. I thought it would be hard to get used to going into a gym again after doing home workouts for so long, but now I love coming to IPT. It’s always the best part of my week. I came to IPT after doing ~2 years of Burn Bootcamp. I was looking for something more personal and growth-focused, and IPT is exactly that. I get 1:1 coaching and feedback from Coach Mike and Coach Nick, who are both former collegiate athletes. My favorite part is that we “train”, not “workout”. Due to my age and safety concerns with my knees, back and shoulders, it is one in one training with Nick.
