I’ve really enjoyed working with Graham in my private Iyengar sessions. We set a goal for me to do a handstand by my birthday, and even though I was nervous about going upside down, we made slow, steady progress together. One day I finally popped up, and now we’re working toward doing it without the support pillow.
Graham always checks in on how my body is feeling, and if something’s bothering me, she focuses on it and I leave feeling better. With scoliosis, having all the Iyengar tools in her well-equipped space has been especially helpful — hanging forward or upside down to stretch my spine really does help lengthen everything out.
She’s easy to work with for scheduling and payment, thoughtful in her teaching, and someone I truly adore. I feel stronger and more confident because of her. Highly recommend.

She is warm, friendly, highly trained and expert at suggesting adaptations and props to enable a student to achieve positions that will provide maximum benefit for their body. Her astute observations, recommendations for adjustments, consistent support and encouragement has created a wonderful total yoga learning experience for me.

I started taking yoga with Graham in 2007 when she taught at the YMCA, and knew immediately that I had found an excellent teacher. When she left the Y to start her own studio I thought I couldn't afford the increased cost. I made it about a year and realized I couldn't afford NOT to study with Graham and now I take two classes a week.Graham is thoroughly versed in Iyengar philosophy and methods and has a deep understanding of the body's skeletal and muscle systems. She is positive, encouraging, challenging and helpful. Her sense of humor is much appreciated and makes difficulty poses do-able. I'm so grateful for her knowledge, encouragement and expertise. She gets more than the maximum number of stars!

I’ve done yoga, off and on all through my life. Having grown up where yoga originated…I was acutely aware of what constitutes a good yoga teacher. Graham Williams is one of the best. She has trained under the Masters-actually gone to the very seat of Iyengar training-and runs an excellent program for all levels. What an amazing find!!

I started doing yoga at the Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh about a year ago, but I first met Graham Williams at a yoga workshop for scoliosis over 15 years ago. Since the workshop, I've had scoliosis surgery and the majority of my spine is now fused. I was nervous about getting back into yoga because I thought my mobility would be too limited. However, Graham has been amazing to work with. I completed private sessions with her at first so that she could understand how my body moved and adapt the poses to make them more accessible for me. I'm now in a regular class with other students, and Graham still takes the time to give me modifications or alternate poses if I can't do what the rest of the class is doing. I highly recommend Iyengar yoga at this studio because of how inclusive it is for all body types!

I’ve attended lots of Yoga classes around the area. However, Iyengar Yoga has been the best.
I received my first correspondence from Graham, in 2017. Being in ministry and working a full time job prevented me from attending until June of this year.
Because I feared becoming disable I contacted the school.
Things that keep me coming back are the love and community building within the class; techniques; and the [hands on] approach to insure our safety.
Finally, the skillful teaching of Graham, has been transforming, and for this I am grateful.

Iyengar yoga is not here just to get your exercise in or parade your lululemon gear. It nurtures your mind, body and soul and that sure transpires through Graham’s teachings. Graham will keep you on top of your game too! However, she always reminds – do no harm, listen to your body. Graham’s studio is very inclusive, she knows everyone by their first name and makes you feel a part of the community.

I have been practicing Yoga for 20 years, mostly in Iyengar, which is so detailed, safe & effective.
Graham, the owner and main teacher at The Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh (IYCR), is an excellent, experienced teacher with an easy going vibe.
Graham has a loyal following of students who have been with her for many years, which is a testament to what a great teacher she is.
I only recently moved to Raleigh and was grateful to be so warmly welcomed into the IYCR community:-)
I truly appreciate Graham’s care, patience and her step by step guidance in the variety of Yoga poses in each class. She helps us to get the whole body & mind experience and see weekly progress in our individual practice.
Also the studio is in a cool industrial space with all of the great Iyengar props & equipment for every student’s needs.

I have been taking yoga classes from Graham since 2010. She is not only highly skilled, but also intuitive, thoughtful, and patient. Iyengar yoga involves utilizing props as needed to achieve proper alignment in the poses. This allows students who may have physical limitations or injuries to realize the benefits of the pose in the body. Since practicing Iyengar yoga, I’ve learned that allowing my body to remain in properly sequenced poses for several minutes with adequate support and alignment is very beneficial. I now have better posture and body awareness which has improved my overall well-being.

I have been practicing yoga under Graham since shortly after she opened her Raleigh practice in 2008. Graham has given me tools for a lifetime. With her step by step gentle reminders, I know I’m entering into and coming out of each pose in the correct way. I hear her voice correcting my posture even when she’s not around. She provides alternate poses depending on the physical challenges I’m facing to help me get the most out of my class and to ensure no harm comes to my body. She is an amazing instructor and no one comes close to the structure and setting she offers. I’m forever grateful.

Graham is the best yoga instructor I've ever had. I started yoga with her in 2008 due to my scoliosis and back pain, and since then have taken classes in a number of different cities, yet have never had a teacher as kind, dedicated, and caring as Graham. Her instruction is straightforward and engaging. She isn't as harsh as some Iyengar teachers I've had. Since I left Raleigh I really missed her, but with the pandemic I have been able to take her online classes and they're great too! If you're even thinking about signing up for her classes, DO IT! She's the best! Thank you, Graham! <3

This is a yoga studio dedicated to sharing the Iyengar method of yoga, an alignment-based prop-intensive form of yoga. There are classes available for all levels of yoga experience. I have done classes in this studio and all necessary props are provided. For over a year, I have mostly done the classes on Zoom because I am in Fayetteville. Graham is a highly trained, incredibly professional and conscientious instructor. I feel that I get as much individual guidance or modifications on Zoom as I get in the studio. Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh is a hidden treasure. The authentic true yoga is taught here. I have been practicing yoga for almost 30 years. This is the first place I found where I can practice with confident that I can learn not just yoga asanas (poses) but also self satisfaction . The instructor has your well being in mind and give close attention to each practitioner. This is very important to yoga practice as proper asana (pose) is the key a good yoga learning. I am only sorry for not finding them sooner. A great place. I recommend for every one who wants to practice true Yoga.

I've been doing yoga with Graham for many years, starting in 2012 when we moved to Raleigh. Back then I was looking for a teacher that can help me with my back problems, to not further injure myself, but keep practicing yoga in a safe and beneficial way. I found her and I never wanted to look further. She is very knowledgeable about yoga asanas, yoga philosophy, and helps you exercise your body but calm your mind, and be present in everything that you are doing. Graham provides multiple modifications and adjustments depending on her students' needs. I was also amazed how well she navigated the classes during Covid. Doing zoom yoga classes is not an easy task but she is doing it great. Graham is engaging, shows and explains very well the poses and how to use all the props, and gives you corrections looking at the small windows on her screen :). Thank you, Graham for all that you do!

I am so grateful for Graham's online yoga classes! They offer the same joyful, expert-level instruction we've been receiving at Graham's in-person studio for years--the only difference now is we're all at home. Graham still manages to make each class feel like a community and to offer helpful corrections and guidance on each pose for each individual student. Her attention to each student and her devotion to helping everyone make the class work for them is truly incredible.

This is a wonderful studio and since covid, classes have been handled via ZOOM. I take the 'gentle' yoga classes, although other types are offered, too. The owner and instructor, Graham Williams, is a caring, optimistic person and she really looks out for students in her class to make sure they are doing their poses correctly (even in ZOOM she is VERY attentive to each one of us). She is aware of challenges some folks may have (replaced knees, bad backs, scoliosis, etc.) and is always making alternative suggestions for those folks. I joined this studio in January to help with balance, posture and back pain situations, and I have to say, it has greatly improved every one of those situations. (My doctor recommended this type of yoga for me)...Kudos to Graham!

I've been practicing with Graham online for several months now and find her virtual classes to be just as fun and exacting as being in the studio! She gives great verbal cues and watches while students execute the asanas, giving personalized adjustments to every student in her "zoom room". It's also nice to be practicing with others online at the same time! As I live in an area without an Iyengar studio, Graham's virtual classes have enabled me to grow in my practice with a community of students who are dedicated. In strange times like these, it's reassuring to feel supported in my practice by a wonderful, good-humored teacher and grateful to have the opportunity to "be" with others in our virtual studio twice a week.

I have been a student of Iyengar Yoga for the past 7 years. When I moved to North Carolina I looked for an Iyengar Studio. I found Graham’s studio but it is at least two hours from my home. When I told those close to me I was going to drive four and a half hours round trip to take a 90 minute class, people thought I was crazy. To be honest, I thought more than twice about it. But then I met Graham. After my first class I understood that as long as I was in North Carolina, I would be making this trip weekly.
Graham teaches with honesty, integrity and kindness. She is tough, clear, insightful, careful about each students needs and welcoming. Her classes make me feel strong and I work hard but at the end I am calm and focused. At age 61, I am the strongest and healthiest I have been in my life. Iyengar yoga and Graham have contributed to my good health. I feel blessed that I can now take more classes when I can without the travel. I miss the in person contact with Graham and her students. It is a wonderful and welcoming community. I feel fortunate that I can continue my study with her. When its safe and COVID is over, I will make that drive again.

I have taken yoga in person with Graham for many years and at the beginning of the pandemic was very disappointed to miss class. I was a tiny bit skeptical at first regarding how the Zoom classes would go but have been more than pleasantly surprised. Instructions are easy to follow. It's great to see other classmates, even in the little boxes, and signing into Zoom is a piece of cake. An added bonus is being able to take the class at your leisure if you have to miss it for any reason. However I really like the structure of going to "class" twice a week. Graham herself is a great instructor--she is able to challenge the people who are more "bendy" but also has a seemingly infinite variety of modifications and props for people that aren't as flexible. A wonderful class!!

I have been taking yoga with Graham for 10 years. She is kind, nurturing and extremely knowledgeable in the practice of Iyengar yoga. I found her studio because I had been diagnosed with scoliosis and always had low back pain. I can honestly say that my back pain was virtually gone within a few months of starting classes.

When I started studying with Graham more than 10 years ago, I was still new to yoga. I had sampled classes with different styles and different teachers and I knew from my first class with her that she was a different kind of teacher. She teaches where others would just tell. She doesn't focus only on the asanas, but explains and guides us to an understanding and practice of the other limbs of yoga as well. Graham has incredible knowledge of Iyengar Yoga and is always learning and bringing new information to share with her classes. She challenges us to do our best while keeping in mind that it is our practice and we have to adjust our practice based on how our bodies are feeling on a particular day. She is so in tune with each individual and their particular needs for modifications. I've been taking from Graham about six months in the beginner class. I've also attended the gentle class on occasion. I've taken yoga from many instructors over the past 40 years. Graham is definitely one of the best teachers I've ever had. She's very knowledgeable, caring and refreshingly easygoing with a good sense of humor. She communicates clear guidelines for yoga moves and asanas and is very helpful in adjusting a student's pose according to any personal concerns with health or injuries. What a joy to stretch and to stretch with precision as far as I can, and to become aware of the joints, muscles ligaments and bones that support my body. With infectious joy and precision Graham both demonstrates and explains to us, how step by step we can understand our bodies, and learn how to create space between the segments of the spine and other joints and how to build solid core strength. I love Iyengar yoga for its exploratory approach, and the practice based on understanding of asanas in structural and psychological detail. Graham’s unceasing pursuit of deepening that understanding, her desire to share it with her students and to help them be successful in life and practice, make her a very effective teacher. And the fact she was the FIRST certified Iyengar instructor and is the highest level, Jr Intermediate II, in the Triangle, makes her even more special. She has mentored several of her students to become Certified at the Intro Level and continues to mentor other students that hope to become Certified someday too. I highly recommend studying yoga with Graham at the Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh.

I have been taking yoga lessons at Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh for 2 years. At first, I thought it would simply help my lower back and general flexibility, but quickly realized that it’s much more than that. Of course, flexibility and strength are key, but this experience has allowed me to really think about how I sit, stand and breathe on a daily basis – all of which have improved my well-being. It has also taught me to think about I react to negative situations. Graham is truly expert in her craft of practicing and teaching Iyengar yoga. My wife and I have been practicing Yoga with Graham since shortly after we met, starting in spring of 2011. We thoroughly enjoyed practicing together early in our relationship, learning so much about the poses, but also how to be more focused and calm. After a few years we were married and had our son. The only thing that changed was that we had to practice at separate times so that one of us could watch our son. Nearly six years after his birth and nine years since we started practicing we both still attend weekly. It's a very important part of our lives that keeps us healthy in mind and body! I have practiced yoga for many years and many styles - vinyasa, power yoga, etc, and in every practice I lean heavily on the training I get in Iyengar yoga to practice safely & avoid injury.
Graham is extremely knowledgeable about injuries and quirky bodies, pregnancy and aging, and can help almost anyone find a yoga practice that will work for them. We are very lucky to have such an experienced and passionate Iyengar yoga instructor in Raleigh.

I am grateful beyond words that I found Graham and the Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh.
I first met Graham at the Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh when I hobbled in for a private lesson while I was fighting severe lower back pain and considering surgery. My background is with Iyengar yoga and it seemed like a good time to refresh my yoga practice and return to a regular class to hopefully help me manage back pain and immobility. When I entered the yoga room I immediately felt the gentle and loving vibe that Graham brings to her wonderful space...it’s an oasis of calm amidst the chaos of surrounding construction.
Graham is an excellent teacher who understands the limitations that some (most?) of us bring to the mat. She has personal experience with the challenges and limitations of living with scoliosis.
It’s been over 1 yr since I had back surgery (much less extensive than was originally recommended) and I look forward to yoga class with Graham every week!! The outside world melts away when I’m in the yoga room.
I have also been in Mary Margaret’s class a few times and she’s also an excellent teacher. I’m sure Heather is also a great instructor, I just haven’t had the pleasure of being in one of her classes yet.
So, I love everything about the Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh! Namaste, y’all!

“The hardness of a diamond is part of its usefulness, but its true value is in the light that shines through it.“ B. K. S. Iyengar. The light that shines through Graham touches all her students through her brilliant sequencing of poses, knowledgeable recommendations for modifications, and loving attention. If you want the whole experience of yoga and not just an exercise class, take classes at the Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh.

I highly recommend Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh to anyone interested in yoga--whether experienced or not. I came to Graham's studio 3 years ago at a friend's suggestion and was a complete novice. Her experience and passion for Iyengar yoga shows in every class and makes it fun and enjoyable to learn, even for an absolute beginner. If Graham's classes are full, classes with Heather or Mary Margaret are equally wonderful!

I have known Graham since she first moved to Raleigh when a colleague at Meredith College recommended her to me as an outstanding Yoga instructor. I started with private lessons in her home studio and followed her into her studio on Morgan Street.
I can’t say enough good things about Graham. Her knowledge of Iyengar yoga and the quirks of the human body are unsurpassed and she is kind, patient, and especially helpful to those of us who need a bit more guidance with the poses. And what a delightful sense of humor!
If you are looking for a warm and friendly yoga studio and an absolutely terrific instructor, you need look no further! Graham Williams is tops in m book! (Bonnie, age 74)

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Graham and her team at the Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh. I've been taking classes there for about five years. Graham cares about her students deeply on many levels, constantly asking about our personal lives, keeping up with our birthdays, and offering modifications for a menagerie of special requests for modifications, ranging from knee issues, scoliosis, and pregnancy. Graham is always striving to be better, and we all benefit from it.

As a long time yoga practitioner (23+ years), I was concerned that I would not be able to find a yoga center when my husband and I decided to relocate to Raleigh. My Minnesota yoga teacher reviewed Raleigh options and recommended Graham. I am so grateful! I’ve been practicing in this center for about 2 1/2 years. Graham leads the practices with great knowledge and compassion. She has an easy smile and infectious laugh which helps us to grow in our individual practice while not taking ourselves too seriously! It’s been an honor for me to find a teacher of such high degree! Turns out, I had nothing to be concerned about! I highly recommend Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh!

I have been a student of Graham/Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh for over 5 years now. My initial motivation to start Yoga was simply to increase my flexibility and improve my core strength. However the benefit of Iyenger Yoga far exceeded my initial expectations. One, I feel better than before. I feel stronger and more energetic, and my chronic migraines are completely under control. Two, I have learned to manage my work stress better by learning to focus on what is right in front of me, be in the moment and removing myself from other distractions when I am in the class. Lastly, I learned the importance of having structure in life and committing to something long term. Without realizing it, Iyengar Yoga became a part of my life style. Graham is an excellent teacher who adjusts her approach based on the needs of each student.

Iyengar Yoga helped me fixing all sort of physical problems I have been accumulating over the years: lower back pain, bad knee and so on.
I found this studio 6 years ago and I kept going ever since. This studio exclusively focuses on the Iyengar's teachings. The owner of the studio, Graham Williams, is an amazing certified teacher.
If you seriously want to learn and practice yoga, the Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh is the place to go.

I have been taking weekly classes at Iyengar Yoga Center of Raleigh since 2018 and highly recommend the studio to anyone who is passionate to learn more about yoga or just interested to check it out. Graham brings decades of practice and experience to her classes; she knows how to adjust a pose to accommodate any body type, makes you truly feel a part of the class, and ensures that everyone is challenged according to his or her abilities. She also organizes and hosts weekend workshops with more senior teachers a couple of times a year. I love her classes and wish I had started them earlier.
