All employees-- whether they were based at the front desk or at the pool-- were attentive, communicative and empathetic. I could tell they were invested in the safety of their guests and went out of their way to ensure the children in our party had a positive experience. Kudos to the Kernersville Family branch team!

I GIVE THIS YMCA A 4 STARS AND LOVE THIS YMCA, 4 STAR REVIEW ONLY BECAUSE THIS PLACE CLAIMS TO BE OPEN AT 5AM AS I NEVER COME BEFORE 12 NOON HERE WHICH IS JUST A ROUTINE OF MINE EVERYDAY IN MY SCHEDULE MY WIFE JUST HAS TO SHOWER QUICKLY EVERY MORNING BEFORE WORK AT 7AM EVERY MORNING AS BUSY AS WE BOTH ARE WITH OUR LIVES AND WORK LIVES, WE BOTH GET TO THE YMCA AT 5AM ON 7/28/25 AND SCAN MINE AND MY WIFES YMCA MEMBERSHIPS TO FIND THE HOT TUBS AND STEAM ROOM, AND ALL THE LOCKER ROOMS, AND THE DOORS STILL LOCKED PAST 530AM ALMOST CLOSE TO 6AM WHICH SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AT ALL WHEN YOU CLAIM TO BE OPEN AT 5AM...ALSO WANT TO MAKE NOTE FOR SOME REASON I NOTICED FOR THE VERY 1ST TIME BEING A LATER IN THE DAY YMCA ATTENDEE AND YMCA MEMBER IN GENERAL THAT THE 5AM FRONT DESK STAFF HERE SEEM TO BE VERY RUDE TO MEMBERS, IF YOUR YMCA IS GOING TO CLAIM TO BE OPEN AT 5AM DURING THE WEEK THEN OPEN AT 5AM, GAS COSTS MONEY AND PEOPLE SHOULD BE ABLE AT 5AM TO FREELY WALK IN AND SCAN THEIR MEMBERSHIPS AND GET THEIR STUFF DONE NO PROLEM BEFORE WORK WHO ARE LIMITED ON THE TIME THEY HAVE BEFORE HEADING INTO WORK IN THE EARLY A.M HOURS...FOLKS ARE LIMITED ON THEIR TIME WHEN THEY WORK 2 JOBS AND WORK 17 HOURS A DAY 6 DAYS A WEEK AND ITS 11PM BEFORE ME AND MY WIFE CAN EVEN SPEND 1 HOUR TOGETHER IF WE ARE LUCKY BUT BILLS HAVE TO BE PAID, BUT ALL OF THIS IS BESIDES THE POINT, OTHERS IN GENERAL NO MATTER WHO THEY ARE DONT ALWAYS HAVE TIME TO SIT AROUND WAITING TO GET IN A QUICK HOUR HOT TUB OR STEAM ROOM SESSION IN BEFORE THEIR SIGNIFICANT OTHER HAS TO BE AT WORK OR WAIT UNTIL STAFF FEELS THEY WANT TO OPEN UP THE FACILITY....WHAT REALLY PISSES ME OFF IS IM ON DISABILITY AND BRING MY SERVICE DOG HERE 7 DAYS A WEEK WHICH BY ADA LAWS I HAVE THE RIGHT TO ATTEND ANY PUBLIC PLACE OR ITS CLEARLY DISCRIMINATION AGAINST MYSELF AND MY SERVICE DOG TO THREATEN OTHERS LIKE MYSELF BECAUSE FOLKS WHO ARE DISABLED YOU HAD THE RIGHT TO I FILE LAWSUIT IF THEY REALLY WANT TO GET UGLY AND PURSUE AND TAKE ACTION....THE YMCA IS LITERALLY ALL I HAVE TO DO FUN WITH MY SERVICE DOG OTHER THAN THE LIBRARY AND A COUPLE OTHER PLACES AND IS ALSO THE CASE FOR ALOT OF DISABLED INDIVIDUALS DURING THE DAY WHILE MY WIFE IS AT WORK AND CANT HELP THE FACT THEY HAVE TO WORK 17 HOURS A DAY, IF THERE WERE OTHER THINGS I COULD AFFORD TO DO INCLUDING MANY OTHERS TRUST ME THEY WOULD AND I WOULD TOO, ALSO GO I TO CHURCH HERE EVERY SUNDAY AT 10AM WHICH IS GREAT, BUT THE 5AM STAFF HERE THREATENED TO TERMINATE MIME AND MY WIFES YMCA MEMBERSHIP AND A BLACK LADY STAFF MEMBER GOT OFFENDED AND SUPER PISSED JUST BECAUSE I SIMPLY JUST MENTIONED HOW AT 5AM THEY CLAIM TO BE OPEN, BUT YET AT 530AM AND 6AM THE HOT TUBS AND LOCKER ROOMS AND ALL DOORS TO THESE AREAS ARE STILL NOT OPEN.......IF YALL ARENT GOING TO OPEN AT 5AM, THEN CHANGE YOUR HOURS OF OPERATION AND STOP THREATENING DISABLED FOLKS AND THEIR YMCA MEMBERSHIPS JUST BECAUSE THEY SIMPLY BRING UP AND OR MENTION A CONCERN FOLKS HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO SO WHEN THEY ARE PAYING FOR MONTHLY MEMBERSHIPS ITS NOT A CRIME!!! IT'S VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND DOES NOT GIVE A CHROSTIAN YMCA NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION A GOOD REPUTATION, JUST OPEN AT 5AM AS YOU CLAIM OR SIMPLY CHANGE YOUR HOURS OF OPERATION.IT'S THAT EASY, BUT THE DISCRIMINATION AND THREATENING FOLKS IS NOT NECESSARY, IF IT WAS IT FOR PEOPLE PAYING FOR THE MEMBERSHIPS THEY DO, YOU GUYS WOULD NOT EVEN BE OPEN AT ALL OR BE ABLE TO REMAIN OPEN AND YOUR STAFF WOULD NOT EVEN HAVE A JOB, SO LETS NOT HAVE MEMBERS HAVE TO BABY AND TREAT YOUR STAFF LIKE CHILDREN HERE AND LETS ALL BE RESPECTUL TO EACH OTHER EVERYDAY 365 ON BOTH SIDES HERE OR SIMPLY QUIT YOUR JOB AS A YMCA STAFF IF YOU FOLKS CANT TREAT YOUR MEMBERS WITH THE RESPECT THEY DESERVE WHEN THEY ARE GIVING THEIR BUSINESS TO YOU FOLKS....ITS THAT SIMPLE!!! BUT THE DISRESPECT IS NOT APPROPRIATE OR NECESSARY AT ALL, JUST DO YOUR JOBS PROPERLY EACH THERE YOU GUYS OPEN UP AS YOU CLAIM AT 5AM DURING THE WEEK AND FOLKS WILL NOT HAVE ANY CONCERNS OR HAVE ANYTHING TO BE UPSET ABOUT AND NO ONE WILL COMPLAIN π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘

Iβve had so much fun at this facility. The staff are very helpful and ready to assist when needed. This facility is also very clean and organized. They have like two or three pools ππ½ββοΈ. They even have a nice hot tub and sauna π§π½ββοΈ . The ONLY thing I donβt like about the hot tub and Sauna in this facility, is that it is co-ed. Other than that, the facility itself is great. I also really enjoy their splash pad. They have this really tall swirly slide π, no thank you, it looks too scary π«£ for me personally, however, all the children that get on it, seem to enjoy it. I like the Lilly pad bridge thing that the children play on at the outdoor pool ππ½ββοΈ. Itβs very entertaining seeing the children play on it. Long story short, I enjoy coming to this facility. I would recommend coming here over all even though I donβt necessarily like the co-ed sauna π§π½ββοΈ and hot tub π . That grosses me out. Thatβs Y I give this place a four star βοΈ. Nothing wrong with the facility at all, just my personal preference when it comes to the hot tub and sauna. I would truly like to enjoy the sauna π§π½ββοΈ and hot tub knowing that no man is gonna come in while Iβm in there. So I guess I wonβt be using it. Not at this facility at least.

I love this Y. I come here most mornings and have never had a real concern. The parking lot is big, always parking available. The gym has plenty of options, whether you're new to fitness or are an expert. I like taking some of the classes that are offered, like Yoga and Body Balance, specifically. One of the best parts is the childcare that is included. Before my youngest started daycare, he was in the child care center while I worked out each morning. They worked really hard to help get him adjusted, it could have been easy for them to get frustrated since he cried for most of the time starting out-- but they were actually a huge help in getting him acclimated to a world where he can play with some friends-- and where this Mama can get healthy just down the hall. The indoor pools are great, my oldest took swim lessons here. When the outdoor pools are open in the Summer, we frequent them A LOT. My oldest has played several sports here and has learned a lot and made some friends-- as have I and my husband. I used to be on the Board a couple of years ago, and I got firsthand experience with the work that they do and how much they genuinely seem to care about what they do. It was truly an honor and a great experience. We have used the summer camp and the after-school care in the past, both convenient and fairly priced. I look forward to continuing my health journey here.

I love all the things this YMCA offers. I spend most of my time though on the upstairs on door track especially in the winter months.
However, the heat is set for the comfort of the basketball court downstairs and not for those who utilize the track. A lot of folks have complained about the heat and suggested putting even floor fans in the corners. (One corner is a fire exit so you can not put a fan there) but after a month or more nothing has been done. Please for those that do walk and run upstairs please do something before someone has a heart attack or passes out from the heat. Thank you.
Thank you for fixing the heat on the track and making it enjoyable again. π

Overall the facility is nice and clean, we love outdoor pool. Splash pad outdoor pool is nice too, but much colder. For swim lessons. I am happy for the refund. Ms. Catherine was not a good choice, we will rather travel 35 min to Jerry Long YMCA, where instructor letting know when sick or have emergency before lesson, doesn't ignore emails and recommend next stage with the paper "cerficate".

I may give this place another try, but pretty disappointed in the lack of managing the workout rooms. I've tried several different times, but too much socializing around some machines where you can't get on them. Cell phones in constant use on many machines, at times making it very difficult to use machines and leaving me to walk out without finishing a workout. Yes there are signs about phone use, being considerate of others, but the staff overseeing the rooms to workout in do not say anything to the people just sitting on a machine texting. The last time I was in there was a girl that took over 35 mins to do 4 sets on one machine, due to checking her phone and to text. I nicely asked her if I could get in a set between her sets. She rudely told me NO. I waited another 10 mins standing beside the machine while she texted. I come to work out and not to sit on or stand blocking
machines. The Y in WS is not like this at all. Management needs to be more aware of what team members are actually doing when they are over an area.

This is a great facility for all seasons. They offer a plethora of group exercises both on the floor and in the pool(s). They have a top-notch gym, and the best of it all is the outside pool with a separate splash/shallow pool area for very young children. And it's all part of your membership. A seasonal membership at any community pool is $400+, so for mw, this only is a huge money saver. I absolutely love it that they have several umbrellas there that provide shade for parents who do not use the pool. It's always brimming with people and children, and it's very popular among the regional YMCAs. Last time we went to the pool, one of the donuts on the rope course in the outside pool was missing, which makes it impossible for children shorter than 5.5. ft to complete the course. I hope that as good stewards of the facility, they will take the time to fix it.

The Kernersville YMCA is the best pool for lap swimming in the Triad. One, it's not crowed like others, so you rarely have to share a lane. You can always walk in and grab a lane. Two, the water temperature is always perfect for lap swimming. Lastly, the staff and management are super nice.

Iβm very disappointed in my membership so far. This is the only place in our city that has indoor basketball courts. The problem is, the basketball courts are hardly ever available to use. If they are available itβs some random time during the day, for example from 3pm to 5pm. Nearly impossible for those of us who have regular 8 to 5 pm jobs. Paying $90 month for a family membership with the main purpose to use the basketball courts has been a waste. Iβm sure theyβll reply, βyou can use any of our other locations.β I get that, but I joined so that I could use my local location at least most of the time. I wish that they would make improvements in this area. I really donβt want to cancel my membership.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU LIKE PLAYING BASKETBALL , they got rid of the second court , changed it into a useless crossfit room one half of it and the other half is a multi purpose room I THOUGHT would be used for pickle ball and kids classes etc. BOY WAS I WRONG the basketball court IS NEVER free unless its nighttime with a million people trying to play basketball on one court when of the main baskets is broken , I can never go in and play basketball anymore , absolute idiocy , cancelling my membership , waste of money.

Awesome place to work out at and for family activities. Love that they have child care for while you're working out. Also they offer assistance to familys with lower income at a huge discounted cost! I had a friend that needed assistances, which saved them over a 3rd of the over all price which helped them tremendously. I love all the activities they have available for my kids and all the different programs they offer members. Over all a wonderful place to work out at, and I love the Jacuzzi/hot tub! I Highly recommended the YMCA in kernersville nc

We didn't care for the swim lessons as they made it a game to fall in the water for kids. They sang the "Humpty Dumpty" song and had kids fall in when the song says "... had a great fall". There were other issues with the swim lessons that I felt were not safe. Other places we went they actually teach the opposite of the YMCA, which is that kids need to ask a parent before jumping in the water.
Another time I went and the pool was empty, they didn't have any barriers up and doors to the pool were all wide open. I was with a friend who has a special needs child and this small child almost fell in the deep end, she had got ahead of us and I didn't know the ymca was propping up all of thier doors to the pool. I told them of this and they said they would close the door since the pool was empty. We were there several hours and they never did close the doors.
I feel like at times children's safety is not as much of a priority to the staff, but other aspects are great.

This morning at the Kernersville YMCA I had a very bad experience. After a morning class which was great I went into the family bathroom at the program pool. This is the one behind the lifeguard chair. Iβve been to the bathroom one other time and I had the same exact experience. My first time I thought oh they probably forgot to clean it. But there was hair and trash and it was just disgusting. All over the place. YMCA staff you need to clean the bathrooms. Remember this was in the morning thereβs only so many people that use the bathroom before me at 6

I usually go one in a week Saturday afternoon, I use the weight machines, the place is clean and the personal is great. My only concern is a bunch of teens hanging around the weight room with Cell phones. Today one of them was texting and pushing 60Lbs at the same time, one of the 25lbs dropped from bench and missed my foot for a inches.

This was the 1st time I had been to this one. And the employees was friendly. They have 4 pools, 2 inside and 2 outside. The workout rooms are well equipped and everything is clean. They are very helpful to disabled people. They explain how to use equipment and any questions you may have about anything at the YMCA.

First, I have a family membership for my entire household so it isn't cheap for a monthly expense. However, my kids wanted to do swim lessons so I paid the extra for two kids to have the lessons. I should have known this place was a joke from this experience alone. Half of the classes, the mom's, but mostly me, had to attempt to track down an instructor or even the aquatic director. Good luck.... When we did have an instructor show up, it was a different one each time because people weren't showing up for work and not being scheduled for this paid class. No refunds, no apologies, and not even return phone calls. If there's a different person every day, how do you know where the class is? How do you know the progress of the kids? Other classes got certificates and ribbons saying what they could do and if they passed. My kids didn't get anything because they didn't even know it was the last day of class. Every time I got the opportunity to workout, there was no equipment available. And the icing on the top is why I'm leaving a review. I cancelled my membership 3 weeks ago and they just took next month's payment from my bank account. I called to get it straightened out and both people I can talk to are out of town for the next two weeks. I'm not pleased. I'd also add, the locker rooms always smell like feet, the showers smell foul, and lots of people get athletes foot and planter warts there!
