This LA Fitness location needs serious improvement. They often don’t open at the posted 8 AM weekend time, leaving members waiting outside, and the facility is poorly maintained. I’ve used LA Fitness in many states—this is the worst-run location I’ve seen.

I pay way too much money to be a member at LA Fitness for it to close this early. It’s honestly ridiculous, especially on weekends. I showed up ready to enjoy a good workout, only to be told by staff that the gym was already closed… at 9 PM. That’s absurd. For the price we’re paying, the hours should accommodate people with busy schedules. Extremely disappointed.

That being said, it’s an excellent gym overall, I enjoy the experience every single time I go. It’s really just the hours that need improvement. I still highly recommend LA Fitness to anyone starting or continuing their fitness journey.

It is so annoying and really inconvenient that they close so early on the weekends. Some of us actually have to work Saturday and Sunday and by the time we get off the gym is closing or already closed, its ridiculous! For the amount we pay in memberships we should be offered alot more hours. I have never worked out at a gym that closes EARLY on a weekend. If that's the case the membership price should reflect the limited hours you can actually access the gym.

While some of the staff are friendly, newer employees seem undertrained and often appear unsure when asked basic questions. One man at the front always looks unhappy and like he hates his job and bothered to be spoken to. Might just be his face though who knows.

When I attempted to cancel my membership on the phone because I moved, I was repeatedly told to call back after leaving my number and was then emailed about processing the cancellation only to later be informed that the person who contacted me had already left the organization.
When I called to address being charged for the month I was trying to cancel, the operations manager responded as if I should have already known how the process worked and said “of course you’re going to be charged the last month”.

However, I had never received any clear communication or guidance. I know it’s only $35 but thankfully HR was kind enough to explain it might take a few days for the refund if it wasn’t processed yet on their end and only the charge reflected on my bank account. All it takes is some patience and understanding.

Additionally, items such as ankle cuffs were stolen, and I was told they unfortunately would no longer be replaced.

If you have the option to join another gym, I strongly recommend doing so. Based on my experience, it doesn’t seem like the staff are adequately supported or compensated, and that lack of investment reflects in the quality of service. As someone who also works in a customer-facing role, I know it doesn’t take much effort to be kind or helpful—but even that feels like too much to expect here.

I’m extremely disappointed with the way I was treated at the LA Fitness located at 6461 Plantation Center Dr, Raleigh, NC 27616. I’m visiting family here in North Carolina and came by this location with my fiancé. I’m a paying member based in California and didn’t realize my membership didn’t include out of state access.

When I scanned in, the guy at the front desk immediately asked if I was from here. I explained that I was just visiting, but instead of offering help or explaining options, he was rude, dismissive, and made no effort to assist. There was no explanation, no attempt to offer a guest pass, upgrade, or even a basic welcome. He simply turned us away, without care.

I even called my home gym in California, and their manager was very kind and understanding. They said that this location could have offered a courtesy pass but when I brought it up, the staff here, especially the manager Daniel, refused and acted like I didn’t matter. It was honestly one of the most unwelcoming gym experiences I’ve ever had.

To compare after leaving LA Fitness, I went to Planet Fitness nearby, and guess what? I’m not even a member there, but they gladly welcomed me in, offered me a free guest pass, and treated me with kindness and respect. Their staff was professional and accommodating, something this LA Fitness location seriously lacks.

I’ve always had great experiences at my home LA Fitness in California, where staff are helpful and friendly. But this Raleigh location made me feel disrespected, unimportant, and embarrassed. I wasn’t trying to get in for free I would’ve upgraded on the spot if someone had just taken a moment to explain. Instead, I was kicked out like I wasn’t even a member.

There have been repeated instances where the gym and bathrooms have gone without wipes or paper towels for several consecutive days, which raises concerns about hygiene and maintenance standards. Additionally, one of the dance instructors consistently plays music at a volume much higher than the norm established by other instructors. Multiple individuals have already requested that she lower the volume, but the issue persists.

They stopped caring about the gym goers and people with TRIPODS ALL OVER can’t get a good work out in. And Planet fitness has more Kettle bells and other equipment than LA fitness does. They do not listen to the clients to add more strength training stuff, and it’s too many cardio equipments not enough space for more weight lifting. If you pay $30 or more go to PF or other local gyms that have more equipment to use.

Recently got my membership at the new Raleigh location off Capital Blvd., after a couple years with Planet Fitness. This LA fitness is limited in amenities when compared to other locations nationwide. Still good value and better gym than PF for the experience. Make sure you work out a good monthly fee that fits your budget or wait till they have their special sign up deals. Tons of equipment (double others) for all fitness types including extensive free-weights options for the more advanced fitness junkies. The main reason I like this Gym, currently you literally have the gym to yourself for the most part and hardly ever have to wait to use equipment. Things to work on: Management needs to be less pushy and more accommodating to new patrons instead of just focusing on sales. If you treat people right and give them their space to feel comfortable the sales will come.

I had an extremely frustrating experience at LA Fitness that made me question the professionalism and organization of this gym.

I scheduled a fitness test on 3/5 (Wednesday) around 9 PM at the front desk for 3/7 (Friday) at 12:30 PM. When I arrived five minutes early, I was told by the only trainer there that I was not on the schedule. They asked me to wait while they figured out what happened, but after 30 minutes, no one followed up with me—the trainer instead started working with another client.

The General Manager eventually asked what was going on, and after I explained the situation, he spoke with the trainer. He returned and told me they weren’t sure what had happened but that if I was willing to wait 10–15 minutes, they would squeeze me in. I agreed and decided to start my workout while waiting.

Two hours passed, and no one ever came to get me. During that time, the trainer started working with yet another client instead of addressing my appointment. At that point, I left, feeling completely disregarded as a member.

To make matters worse, on 3/11, I received a text confirming a fitness test appointment that I never scheduled. Given my previous experience, I asked the front desk to cancel it, as I refuse to have my time wasted again. I’ll be looking elsewhere for a trainer who values their clients.

This level of disorganization and lack of communication is unacceptable for a gym that claims to prioritize member experience. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and implements changes to prevent this from happening to others.

I have had multiple calls and stops in trying to get a hold of someone and get every excuse in the book. First, They gave me a triple subscription when I and my wife only needed two (One with I and my wife, one just me and we did not realize for 8 months). Now trying to cancel has been impossible both at the gym as well as online for the second 8 months. My account wont send a verification because they tied me to her email. Also, when my wife has stopped in multiple times during a work day, for some reason, a manager is unavailable, even thought they say someone will be there to help (even thought you can only cancel during work days M-F 9-5 PM). The excuse is either she just missed them or out to lunch or took a sick day. We moved and she works 30 minutes away and had to take her lunch or PTO for these stop ins. if Terrance would like to call us, there are multiple notes from front desk on his table I am sure.

One of the biggest poopy experience I ever have at LA fitness. I'm currently holding a membership at the different location gym which is out of state. Coming in think that the process would be easy then I can go on start me workout. Members and employers are very rude and inconsiderate of others. A member became aggressive with me over a machine they weren’t even using but wanted to hog. An employee flew behind my car as I was backing in after tailgating me the entire time in the parking lot. Equipment wise, this gym lacks compared to others. All machines are resistance based. Members hog benches and machines while chatting on the other side of the gym. If you want a decent gym, look elsewhere.

They have a personal training program should you want to sign up. It is expensive, for just the lowest package it is over $1000.
They assign you with a trainer that spends the first session getting to know you and your goals. (I am saying this as it cuts into the work out time but you think that's fine) only a few weeks go by and that trainer leaves.
So they pair you with another trainer. Same thing, a few weeks go by and that trainer leaves.
Again, pair you with another trainer and they leave.

Each time there is NO accountability on calling to let you know the trainer left. Instead you either show up and learn no one is there or I have learned to physically call to confirm my personal training appointment.

Understanding that hiring is tough in todays market but by not calling or communicating with your members that the trainer has left is not professional.
I would NEVER again sign up for personal training at this facility and feel like others should be warned.

I liked it when it was Lifetime.

The location is fantastic, it is not busy, the staff members are okay and it’s nice seeing familiar Lifetime members. As for the gym, not a lot of renovations were done when it was turned into LA Fitness. The locker rooms are still the same, the toilets have not been upgraded and a lot of times 3 or 4 are out of service at the same time. Also, the AC is not working. It has been extremely hot inside the gym.

Really frustrating experience cancelling here. I came in-person to cancel and was informed that only one employee is able to cancel my membership, and he is there M-F 9-5. I have a full time job that overlaps with these hours, making it difficult to schedule. Cancelling a membership should not require me to jump through hoops and rearrange the rest of my life. Additionally I was billed an additional month due to the delay this caused and was told I couldn’t be refunded, even though I tried to cancel before the renewal. Just joined a couple of days ago. I came from a CrossFit gym and wanted to find a new place to call home because my new job was making it difficult to make it to my classes on time. Decided to check out this LA Fitness gym because its the closest to my home. Compared it to Lifetime Fitness, Planet Fitness and O2 Fitness...and LA Fitness ended up being the best bang for my buck! The staff here was extremely helpful...and a huge thanks to Alec and Garrett for spending the time showing me around...overall a great gym. All the equipment is in great shape, the functional fitness area was nice...and having a gym with a Sauna is awesome!! Plenty of Bumper Plates with Squat Racks too...which give me lots of choices to do work! It was a tough decision but the right one for me!

Amazing club! The amount of space this club has. I didn’t have to wait for a single piece of equipment. People are super friendly. The sauna comes in handy after a hard workout as well. I also can’t believe how clean this place is.

I cannot even begin to explain the pure feeling of euphoria when walking in through those beautiful silver doors. To be welcomed with such hospitality you would think you are coming home after a long day of work. Whether it's the kind and understanding staff or the well-kept equipment and accessories I can't seem to keep myself away from here. I leave feeling not only refreshed but like I have accomplished something having the pure sense of bliss leaving this amazing get away.

Came in to test the gym out as I was looking for a new gym due to price increase at my current gym. The staff was super friendly and helpful, the facility looks amazing, the equipment has a large range of free weights and machines. It was really clean and at around 5 which is usually peak gym hours I was still able to find open machines for my workout. Overall a good experience I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get a high quality gym especially at a great price.
