Grossest gym in the area. Equipment is rusty and truly disgusting. The $40 maintenance fee was only supposed to be 1x a year and they ended up charging me for it SEVERAL times throughout the few months I have been here. This is a breach of contract, and it doesn’t help that they do nothing to “maintain” or improve the gym. Cardio equipment is barely functioning and nasty, there is trash in every single cup holder and all of them are covered in someone’s sweat from 2 weeks ago. It is so hot in the gym that it’s hard to even workout. The layout is also horrible. I wish they would shut this place down

Have always loved this gym and have gone for over a year without any issues, but wanted to share the issue I faced yesterday so that others are not put in the same situation! I upgraded my membership a couple months ago to include the guest past so that my boyfriend could try out my gym. My boyfriend just didn’t love the gym and wanted to stick with his planet fitness membership. Yesterday I called before heading to the gym to see if I could go back to my regular membership and was told over the phone that I couldn’t “downgrade my membership I can only upgrade” and that the only way I could go back the the basic membership is if I cancelled my membership and restarted it. Which was called a “hassle” by the man I spoke with on the phone. This was irritating as I love this gym, but have no reason to be paying an extra $20 a month for a guest pass that won’t be used. While at the gym I asked to cancel my membership and when the nice man at the welcome desk asked why I told him about my conversation with the man on the phone. He apologized and said that what I was told was not true and within seconds he was able to update my membership back to the basic membership. So thankful that he was able to help me with that and that I can continue going to the gym I like, but definitely felt manipulated over the phone to get me to continue paying for the more expensive membership!

During my visit to North Carolina, I had to work out. I visited this location for my usual Thursday evening Aqua Aerobics class. The instructor was great. He did have a speaker that was playing good R&B tunes. But it was small and couldn't really be heard over the sound of the water. Plus, it was so small. It really wasn't helping me get into it! I should have put in some earbuds. A bigger speaker is a must! Nothing too big, but bigger than the one he was using. I revisited again for an upper body workout, which was great. The machines have ample space in between them and lots to choose from. The gym was very clean and well lit. I give four stars because they need to add more dissecting sprays and paper towels all around the floor, like Planet Fitness has to ensure equipment is clean. Those little wipes aren't sufficient! Plus, there are not very many wipe stations around the floor.

Went here to try a trial membership and after hearing the high price I told the sales staff over the phone “no I’m not interested” then he said in a condescending tone “you don’t got what it takes to join us, you’re going to stay small”. Did that make me angry. Who in their right mind would talk like that to customers…sometimes I wished I went there to punch that guy in the face. The gym itself is fine. Decent amount of cardio equipment and free weights. There is also a basketball court, yoga studio, cycling room, pool, men & women's saunas, and locker rooms.

During specific times of the day or year, it can be quite a popular location.

Wish LA Fitness corporation would make a larger change to the app to allow local gyms to notify customers about updates and closures. They do a great job about posting these changes at the doors and/or front desk, but would be nice to see if a pool maintenance would prevent you from having access on a particular day.

Zero friendliness from the staff. Expect not to be greeted at the front desk. Never a "hello". Never so much as a friendly nod or general acknowledgment of your existence as a paying member. Being your own towel. And defiantly bring the required self-esteem needed to recover from the feeling of being erased from existence at the front desk.

As an owner of several businesses over the past 40 years, I would not hesitate to clean house, rehire, and retrain the next staff.

I have enjoyed this gym the last year. My first recommendation would be please add chillers to the water fountains. Nobody likes to drink, hot water throughout working out. My second recommendation would be for management or ownership to make sure that the people that are actually in the gym have a membership and or pay monthly. I have literally heard people talking in the background saying that “they just walked in no one stopped them.” If these two things are not addressed within the next few months, I will be switching to O2 fitness With about six dozen other people. Personally the gym has a lot it needs to work on, HOWEVER im leaving this review because their new janitorial worker Clayton is absolutely on the ball. Ive never seen anyone actually pressure clean the side of the pool before & I’ve been coming here for 5+ years. Not to mention the mens locker room and also the bathroom are soo clean now, there used to be trash overflowing out of the trashcans in there. He turns on the Sauna in the mornings the moment the gym opens and thats so big(when the sauna actually works) its annoying to get there around 6-8am just to find it cold in there. These small things makes the flow of morning workouts and overall cleanliness better imo, this gym has been slacking for the past few years especially after covid since they have no competition. But hey at least they’re hiring better and better people, maybe that can shift things around!

I was a member for 2 years and needed to end my membership due to job changes and the gyms time opening/closing time didn't work with my work schedule. I used to love this gym, but the facility and staff desperately need to improve based on my customer experience the last six months. Unless your insurance or employer pays for your membership, I recommend you do not waste your precious post-tax income.

A few observations:

1. The gym started to smell bad in Fall 2023 (unclean, like a cat litter box) and has poor air circulation.
2. There is at least 1 treadmill that has been pending maintenance for over 2 months. I am not sure if there is any cleaning staff either as equipment is often dirty beyond normal use.
3. When I attempted to cancel my membership in person, a staff member tried to convince me to sign a scrap sheet of paper that had no contractual terms on it. I declined politely and asked to speak to management.

I am not sure if these are corporate or local problems, but it is hurting the LA Fitness brand. Customers will leave and look for better options. Thanks for reading!

I've been coming to this LA Fitness for a year now. I'm surprised to see reviews talking about broken equipment. I come here everyday and have almost never seen any. I can't speak to the saunas, hot tubs, pool, or anything like that because I only come to lift weights. But as far as equipment goes, it seems to always be operational.

It's also pretty clean. A lot of people wipe down the machines. I have noticed some people only started doing it after they saw me doing it, which is actually quite funny to watch because they obviously feel obligated to. But still, people are doing it, and that's what matters!

Edit: I originally said there were trainers here that would hit on all the women, and it was creepy. And while it's still true of some gym goers (it's hard not to notice when you see the same people all the time), as far as the trainers are concerned, I believe all of the weird ones have since left this gym. It seems like they hired more professional people here now, so I no longer have anything to comment on that front.

Overall, I've been to a lot of gyms in LA, London, and Denver, and this gym is well above average in my view.

This was a good gym before COVID but it has gone downhill since reopening and has become unbearable in the last year.

It starts with the gym opening which is 5 AM on weekdays. Good luck if you want to train early. There have been multiple and multiple and multiple times in the last 12 months that no one has showed up at 5 to open the gym and it has gotten worse since the early summer. Sometimes the person shows up within 15 minutes late. But other times it may be 5:30, 6:00 or not as all. Meanwhile a dozen people or more who are on a schedule because they need to train and then go to school, work or whatever are inconvenienced and sometimes You Know What Out Of Luck. Emails to the gym get a response from the manager that she is "working on it". Working on it for five months????? It is the second week in November and the gym was not opened on time TWICE in the last week.

Plates are left on bars and machines and the staff does nothing to elevate the problem such as cleaning up the place before closing the gym at night. The leg presses have especially bad with 2,4, 6,8, 10 plates left on them sometimes when we come in at 5 AM. Walk around and almost every chest, back and arm machine will have plates left on them. Plates are left 6 and a half feet high on the Smith Machine. Good luck trying to get them off if you are not Basketball Player tall. Accessories such as ropes, bars and the moveable benches are scattered Who Knows Where when you are looking for something.

I do not use the sauna but others do and both the mens and womens saunas have been broken multiple times and sometimes for weeks or months at a time.

I will no longer be giving these people my money.

I love this gym. It’s huge and spacious and I can always find a machine. My only complaint is maintenance of their equipment. When something breaks down it takes several months before it’s fixed. And the Sauna in both men/women’s locker rooms have been inoperable for almost 6 months.

Sadly this club has fallen into serious disrepair. Bottle fill station now broken for 2+ weeks. Men’s sauna (granted this is initially because idiots put water in the steam generator) but over a year broken! Come on! Jacuzzi broken as often as fixed. Then they have the nerve to close earlier than posted on holidays. Is corporate even watching at all? Bathroom/locker room floors are not cleaned professionally. If there was another option close as this I would not hesitate. Sad when lack of competition is the only reason you stay at a health club!

Ok. So I've had a membership with LA fitness since July 2022. The jacuzzi was one of the amenities and reasons that I decided to join LA, instead of joining 02 fitness. Today is April 3 2023, 9 months later.. And the jacuzzi is STILL not operational from the day i joined. Only excuse they can offer is that they're waiting on a motherboard for heater element. 🤔 They still have no solution and seemingly do not care how important it is to they're clientel to get the jacuzzi repaired. There isnt any plausible explanation at this point to not have this resolved. Management isn't doing their job or simply doesn't know how to. Does corporate know that its going on 10 months now? In addition to the jacuzzi not working, the sauna MD filtered water fountain is now out of service. 🤦 All the while, membership dues keep increasing. Do better LA Fitness!!! I have never left a negative review before. But, this needed to be said.

Started coming here with a friend about a year ago. Was a decently clean gym but now it’s filthy, the cleaning fans are super dusty and nasty which causing allergies and bacteria. The hot tub doesn’t work and hasn’t work in 9 months. The water fountain doesn’t work to refill your bottle, the floors are super dirty. The equipment is great here though. Great workout equipment.

Didn't even get a chance to try it out. I just wanted to pay for a day pass, which is $5 at most gyms. They wanted to charge me $20 for one workout! That's ridiculous! Most gyms in this area are $20 per month. Lol. Not very smart.

Very clean gym, the members seem to put away weights and clean machines after use. The machines seem to be fairly new and well maintained. Overall I'm very impressed with this location I will be returning constantly while I'm in the area
