Sophie's private yoga instruction has been the one thing that's kept my postpartum hip pain at bay! We've been working together for months on generally building back my strength and flexibility postpartum, and every time she comes she has a new routine. I've been doing vinyasa yoga on and off for years and every routine always has something a little bit different from my previous experience with group and online classes, so it keeps things interesting. She also makes small adjustments and explains how to do poses in more detail than I've encountered in other classes, which I'm really grateful for as well. I feel like I'm learning a lot, my body is getting more flexible by the day, and I feel more relaxed after every session.

I’ve been working with Sophie for about 3 months. And my goodness!
I’m 37 and have always preferred curling up with a book or a record over intentionally exercising. My job keeps me hunched over a computer for the majority of the day. Daily headaches and loss of flexibility convinced me that I needed to do something different. I tried massages every 1-2 weeks - they were lovely, but the benefits didn’t last. One therapist suggested I try yin yoga, and that’s how I connected with Sophie.
From the very beginning, Sophie has been focused on my goals. Though I was looking for a yin yoga instructor, I also wanted to get stronger and more flexible. We’ve done a few yin yoga sessions, but otherwise Sophie has been keenly focused on getting me stronger and more loose. Each session, she comes with a handwritten plan to bring me, a yoga novice, up to speed. Vinyasa doesn’t seem far-fetched at all!
In just this short time, I’m less tense and so much more mindful. The daily headaches are gone. Low back pain from scoliosis? No bother. I sleep more soundly and wake up with more energy. At 37, I’m finally feeling confident in my body, and I can’t wait to find out what it can do next! I’m so grateful to have Sophie as my teacher and guide in this process ❤️

My husband and I have been taking yoga lessons from Sophie for about six months. She is a particularly intuitive and patient teacher. She tailors each class to our individual needs and knows exactly when to push us and when to go easy. Each lesson has built upon the last and we can feel ourselves getting stronger and more flexible. Sophie is an excellent and a born yoga teacher (yogini)! She makes you feel welcome, put you at ease and enjoy the yoga poses! Although I have taken many yoga classes with many teachers before, Sophie is one of the few who makes her class and poses enjoyable! Perhaps it is her warmth, openness, sincerity or her technique and style! There is something in her class that makes you feel welcomed, at ease and enjoy doing yoga! I would like to recommend her yoga classes to everyone and experience it for yourself!

Her highly educational approach to the body helps you to progress through the postures with the right alignment.
Sophie is a good listener, and her classes are varied and complete.

I usually don't write testimonials, but wanted to in Sofie's case as she is a wonderful yoga teacher and a bright spirit. In addition to being highly trained, she's always focused on your progress, and will make adjustments to both the practice and flow to suit you. Having practiced various types of yoga for many decades, I can safely say Sofie's approach is both uplifting and invigorating. I urge you to try a class with her. You will finish happier than when you started!

Sophie is a very knowledgeable and dedicated yoga instructor who really cares about her students and how to help them. She helps to make sure you are doing the right postures to get all of the benefits from each pose and she is responsive to individual needs as well. I started doing Yoga with Sophie during the pandemic. I love that to this day I can do yoga over Zoom as I am in Alameda, California and she is in Durham, North Carolina. Sophie is very dedicated to creating classes that tailor to one's needs. She noticed how bad my posture was and said, " Next time we are going to work on your shoulders." Sophie's voice is very calming and is easy to follow. I highly recommend LaPose Yoga whether you are fortunate to do a class in person or over Zoom!
