Over the last few years I’ve worked with many different professionals to be able to run post-childbirth, and while all have been helpful, none of them helped me gain lasting change. I heard great things about Lark from friends, and was hesitantly hopeful I'd get closer to my running goal. I started with Karli this summer and recently completed a half marathon. Karli is detail-oriented, encouraging, attentive, and a great teacher. Her holistic perspective has made all the difference for my return to running, and her ability to both affirm and challenge those she works with is such a strength. Would recommend to anyone without reservation!

Karli is a fabulous trainer. She listens to what I say and is very responsive to my questions and concerns about my “old body.” I feel
stronger than I have in years!

I cannot say enough great things about the entire team at Lark. Their approach to individualized fitness has been transformative for me and my relationship to exercise and my body. Lark feels like a genuine community in a way that isn't centered on physical prowess or achievement--the conversations I've heard in the space when folks are exercising next to each other are rarely (if ever) about how much weight you're lifting or how hard you're working but rather about life, work, family. It's a community where everyone is invited to be their full selves, be honest about how their body feels, and work to understand their unique anatomy and find a routine that works for you. Karli's approach of learning about me, my life, what activities I engage in and what I find joy in has helped to create a routine that feels fun, challenging, and realistic for me. She has helped me understand my limits and hear what my body is telling me. My favorite question that Karli asks (and one I've integrated into my work) is "is there a way that I can explain that better for you?" instead of asking "you got it?" 10000/10 Lark is the best all around!

Working with Marina has been a 10/10 experience. She’s helped me confront some fears about getting back into shape after a long hiatus. I used to be very active, mostly doing group classes, and never felt the need for a trainer. But after falling off the fitness wagon and then having a hysterectomy earlier this year, I was unsure of where to begin and how much I could realistically push myself. My body didn’t feel like it used to.
That’s when I decided to give Lark a try, and from the moment I walked in, I knew I’d made the right choice. Unlike others who casually told me to “just jump back in,” the coaches at Lark took my restart seriously. They listened, really listened, to my concerns and questions, and they’ve continued to check in with me along the way as we go.
I’ve been training with Marina twice a week for a while now, and she’s been phenomenal. Every session leaves me feeling challenged, but never overwhelmed. I appreciate how she, and all the coaches at Lark, treat health and fitness as a long-term journey. Their approach is thoughtful, and it shows.
The facility is clean, the vibe is good, and I genuinely look forward to my sessions. I didn’t expect to need a trainer, but having Marina’s support has made a big difference in staying consistent and avoiding burnout.

Can’t say enough good things about the Lark team, especially my coach, Marina! We had one-on-one sessions for 6 months where she taught me how to lift heavy, safely. She made sure I had the skills and knowledge to be able to craft my own weight training routine to help me maintain muscle as I age and guard against injury so I can keep doing all the things I love, with as few aches and pains as possible.
She and the other staff are kind and welcoming, and I felt really comfortable in the space. I’ve been maintaining my routine, injury free and still making improvements even 3 months since our last session. Money very well spent!

I have been training at Lark for about 2 years, and I could not be happier with my experience. I’ve had the pleasure of working with all of the coaches in the group sessions, and they’re all fantastic. Karli is my personal trainer who programs my workouts, and I am so incredibly grateful for her. She is thoughtful about programming, and I’ve been more consistent with my workouts and running because of her. Karli has been responsive to my priorities and helped me move from barely running to running about 15 mi a week (and enjoying it!). Since I’ve started running, she’s not only programmed a safe and reasonable number of miles/zone for me each week, but she’s changed my workouts to include movements that support running development. I feel stronger and faster because of her!
I highly recommend Lark to anyone who needs some loving accountability and is looking for friendly faces and a welcoming environment!

I’ve been training with Josh at Lark since December 2024, and it has been an incredible experience. After major back surgery and years of ongoing pain, I was hesitant to try anything new. But after a recommendation from a physical therapist, I decided to give Lark a try—and I’m so glad I did.
When you’ve dealt with chronic pain for years, it’s hard to believe something new could make a real difference, but Josh has truly been amazing. For the first time in years, I’m working out in a way that gets real results without flaring up my pain. My training has given me more flexibility and strength. I feel stronger, more confident, and, most importantly, more in control of my health—without relying on injections or medication.
I’m beyond grateful to have found Josh and this exceptional gym. If you’re dealing with any kind of physical setback, I highly recommend giving Lark a try. It really works!

If you've ever wanted to exercise but felt like you've been sedentary for too long, exercise isn't for you, or didn't know how to get started, Lark is the place for you!
Working at Lark has transformed my life. Before starting, I had been sedentary for over ten years and interacting with the world was frequently exhausting and painful. Now, I have more stamina, more energy, and I'm able to interact with the world on my own terms.
My coach Sean is an absolute treasure. He's knowledgeable, caring, and supportive every step of the way.
If your body is holding back from living the life you want, call Lark today!

There is a reason Lark Fitness has such amazing reviews -- they're simply that good. I came to Lark half a year ago when I was postpartum. I was looking to get back into a good fitness routine and to build strength. The coaches conduct a thorough intake evaluation with every potential client to ensure that Lark will be a good fit. During this conversation, I mentioned that I’ve suffered from chronic pain in my buttock and hip for almost a decade (!). It’s an unrelenting pain that is consistently at a 2-5, sometimes 6, and it can be debilitating at times. It hadn’t even occurred to me to offer this information on my own because I had tried so many things to address this pain—visit to a sports medicine doctor, x-rays, 2 separate rounds of months-long physical therapy, and even dry needling. Nothing had worked. I suffered the injury in my mid-20s and am now in my mid-30s. I had become resigned and accepted that this pain would accompany me forever. I was very worried about my future quality of life as I age.
All the Lark coaches are awesome, but based on the intake evaluation, they try to pair you with the best coach to help you reach your goals. They clearly understood that Marina was the coach for me! Ever since she heard about my pain, Marina has been determined to address and fix it. I honestly didn’t think we would succeed. But I showed up for our biweekly sessions and put in the work. For me, it was critical to have that accountability and Marina’s expert knowledge about the muscular system and how to target muscles that need strengthening. For example, I recently mentioned off-hand that I have persistent pain under my scapulas. I assumed it is merely where I store my stress. It may be, but Marina also said that it’s likely that my trapezoids need some strengthening, so we’ve started to address that as well.
Last week, I noticed that, for the first time in almost 10 years, I had been pain-free in my buttock and hip for 24+ hours. Those 24 hours turned into 48 and longer. I’m still in a bit of disbelief. As I shared with Marina, I had forgotten what life was like before this pain. I know I am not out of the woods yet, but I am now optimistic that I might actually reach a pain-free existence. And should I develop pain again, I know now, thanks to Lark, that it isn’t hopeless and that I can address it through targeted strength training and exercise. For me, this has been life changing.
If you are looking for a supportive, welcoming, and fun environment with dedicated and compassionate coaches, Lark is the place for you. Marina has been an absolute joy to work with, and it’s been a privilege to get to know her. She shows up every day with energy and enthusiasm. She is encouraging and supportive and celebrates your successes as if they were her own, and they are. Lark isn’t just a gym, it’s a community. Joining Lark is one of the best investments you can make in yourself and your health.

I had a great experience at Lark Fitness. Marina was my personal coach and she was outstanding! I learned so much from her and Sean whom I worked with in group sessions. I highly recommend training with Lark Fitness to learn good workout habits and skills. I have had some previous injuries and Marina was able to develop a routine that avoided aggravating the injuries while building my strength and confidence.

Lark has been such a great experience. They do a thorough evaluation at the start to identify your goals, baseline fitness levels, and areas to focus on. I have a lot of stress related to previous injuries and fear of re-injury; each session helps me work through that (both in talking and through exercise). You start in individual training and later move into group sessions, all with those initial goals guiding what's happening. I am physically stronger now, with less pain from activities, but also more confident.

I can’t recommend Lark enough! Working with Karli has been life changing. I’ve had hip pain for many years and Karli has worked closely with my physical therapist to create a plan that helped me rehab after surgery and also to address some issues that couldn’t be resolved with surgery. Karli is so knowledgeable and able to change things up in the moment to create an effective workout while taking care not to aggravate injuries. She’s also fun to be around and really supportive. Overall, Lark really great gym with smart and kind trainers who can meet you where you are and get you to where you want to be!

Lark Fitness is such an asset for our community. I was initially looking for personal 1:1 training for my son, but ended up signing myself up as well. After having two kids in my late 30’s, I found myself unable to commit the necessary time to maintain my health. I eventually developed severe neck pain due to bulging discs, as well as lower back pain. My exercise dwindled down to walking and gentle yoga over many years, and still I had chronic pain that required daily NSAID medication. After 8 months of working with Karli, I am feeling better and stronger than I’ve felt in 15 years! Karli is amazing - the kind of person who has clearly found her calling. She is very knowledgeable and brings her absolute best to every appointment. The whole atmosphere at Lark is kind and welcoming. If you are intimidated by the gym, or if you are struggling with an injury, then Lark may be the perfect place for you! Highly recommend!!

2/7/2025 Update-
I signed up for another 24 sessions as it has been a success so far. I finished my first race on thanksgiving and felt good. Speed wise I’m not there but that’s okay. It was mainly about being able to complete a race again anyways. I’m learning how to gradually build up to that without risking hurting myself again. During these past several sessions since I last updated we have been focusing on hip and ankle exercises. Building my core muscles. And finally adding longer runs to my regimen. I’ve done a 7, 8, 9 miler since then and while they were brutal. I see the improvement. For example, the soreness I have running 9 miles is the same as at 5 miles. In other words, I’m not having as much pain and that I’m improving. Karli has consistently been honest with me knowing that as mileage goes up so will the pain but it’s given my body a chance to adapt to it. Honestly I still think this was one of my best decisions because I am able to run again and work my way up. It also allows me to do other things like go for walks, hikes, and many other activities without the pain I used to have. Karli has been patient but able to push me when necessary. We are also able to joke around and keep our sessions light and fun. Again I am so happy to have her as my coach. I will give another update to add on to this review.
My journey to healing has been a long one. I had been an avid runner, fresh off of my first half marathon in 2021 and building up momentum for future races. I somehow injured my left ankle and I am not sure how I did that. I went to see a Sports Medicine Physician and was prescribed ibuprofen and physical therapy. I went through both successfully. I still did not feel 100%, I decided to get back into running after going through the walk/run intervals suggested by my Physical Therapist. I improved enough to be able to walk and run with some level of discomfort. I completed a few races even a half marathon. I did okay in these races but not anywhere where I wanted to be. I just kept at it then eventually, I got hurt again in Feb. I was given a cortisone shot and recommendation for surgery if the shot didn't work. I am not a candidate for a MRI so I was against the idea of surgery without evidence. I started running again but still at the same level as before. I decided to reach out to Beth in May and see about recommendations as she has extensive ties in the field. She felt that I would be a good candidate for Lark. I was set up with Josh for a consultation and he answered all my questions/concerns. Even put me on a payment plan to ease the financial side of things. I was set up with Coach Karli, who is also a runner and shares the same passion as I do. Together, we've talked about what my goals are and why I want to run. She said it is going to be a process throughout these 24 sessions. Karli also told me based on her experience she has noticed that in the healthcare field. Their sole focus is on acute/onset injuries rather than chronic injuries like mine. Which leaves a gray area for those with chronic based injuries. She has to do a movement analysis that would take a few sessions so she can understand how my body moves and what we can do to lessen the load on my ankle. After about 8 sessions, I have been able to see a tremendous improvement in the way I walk. I am still working through the sessions to start running, but I feel like I have improved, will be able to sustain my ability to go for runs and being healthy in the long run. She has been compassionate, supportive, understanding, and a fun coach to be around. I will give another review once I have completed the sessions.
Thanks again Karli and the team at Lark!

As a life long exerciser, I have had a variety of fitness goals over the years. My current one is fairly simple: remain active and move without pain. In recent years, as I would partake in exercise classes/activities (i.e. yoga, strength training, pilates), I would end up with the same lower back pain and hip pain. After working with Marina for the past 3 months I can say I feel stronger than I have in a long time, my low back has not flared up once and my hip pain is changing (for the better!). The coaches at Lark are informed, empowering, fun, and truly work with you to achieve whatever your goals may be. I have found them to be attentive, adaptive and mindful of the whole of our health.

My experience at Lark was everything I was hoping for and more. I was paired with Karli Sewell, who helped me get out in front of back pain, got me back into running, and enhanced my experience as an amateur tennis player. Karli took the extra time to research the movement involved in tennis, a sport she was initially not as familiar with. It was clear she did a deep dive into how the game was played and what tennis players need to work on with their mobility. This is the kind of support these coaches can provide in this one-on-one format.
I loved the whole Lark vibe - a great group of supportive coaches, easy scheduling, and just no fuss. As someone who was intimidated by going to the gym, Karli and Lark helped me get comfortable in a gym environment and I felt much more confident going to a different gym once my sessions were done.
I'd recommend Lark to anyone looking to learn about themselves and their body, or are looking to enhance their mobility and strength. I can't say enough nice things about them!

I cannot recommend Karli and Lark highly enough! After undergoing two shoulder surgeries, I was struggling with pain and limited mobility. Karli has been instrumental in my rehabilitation journey. Their expertise, patience, and personalized approach have made all the difference.

Lark is not your usual gym. They have unique philosophy, focusing on functional strength and agility, not looks or other external measures. They meet people wherever they are and help them recover from setbacks, restoring them to their previous (and beyond) level of activity. I tore my hamstring last year and had major surgery to repair it in March. I suddenly went from doing half marathons and power yoga to barely being able to run a quarter mile. All of the trainers, but especially Karli, have been working with me the entire time and I am now gearing up to train for another half safely. She's amazing and has been a key part of the recovery process. My husband goes here as well and has noticed a significant increase in strength and flexibility. We love the Lark mindset and community. I highly recommend this gym!

I cannot say enough good things about Lark, and about my amazing trainers Sean and Josh. After going through a traumatic event a few years back, my health and fitness were really put on the back burner. I am living in Greensboro for work for a year and kept driving by Lark, and on a whim decided to look into it. From the first phone call, I could tell this was a company that truly cares.
The gym is such a safe space, I never worry about those around me, or what my coaches think of me or my body or my abilities, or even what I look like while I’m there. I am able to fully focus on my workouts and feel so supported by my coaches.
I also feel so much more comfortable in my body after just 4 months, and physically I feel so much more capable. It feels amazing to grow stronger each week. Lark is giving me the gift of enjoying fitness and I am going to be incredibly sad when I do leave Greensboro, solely because of Lark. Thank you for doing what you do!

I think so highly of Lark Fitness--5 stars doesn't do Lark justice!
As a washed up 5-sport athlete, recovering from serious plantar fasciitis surgeries, I was quite intimidated to walk into Lark. However, the staff has been INCREDIBLE--trustworthy, reliable, knowledgeable and passionate. AND! They've helped transform my life in so many ways.
I'd say first and foremost, my time with Lark has been the healthiest relationship I've ever experienced with exercise. Each session is specifically curated to strengthen my body and ultimately my mind. Additionally, workouts are recorded in an app so I can track my progress, stay motivated, and get a sneak peek at my next session.
After having multiple surgeries on my feet and calves, and continuing to be in pain daily, I didn't trust my body or it's capabilities. The staff has been extremely understanding, lending an open ear when I'm scared, hesitant, nervous, anxious, etc. They consistently encourage me to take everything at my own pace, not be too hard on myself and reflect on progress.
As of now, I have been a member at Lark Fitness for 6 months and my life has changed tremendously. I'm no longer scared to be on my feet, I trust my body, I'm in little to no pain on a day-to-day basis, and I've found a love for exercise again. I look forward to seeing my coaches, pushing my body in a healthy way and learning my limitations. I feel strong mentally and physically and that's more than I could've asked for when I walked in 6 months prior...especially in regards to my feet.
All in all, I think EVERYONE should experience Lark. I could go on and on about how wonderful it is and how they've helped bring me back to life. Joining Lark is truly one of the best decisions I've ever made. If nothing else, go in for a consultation; you won't regret it!

So glad Lark Fitness was able to accommodate my need for a remote/hybrid program. I love Greensboro and its concentration of talented humans, but they understood I also NEED my mountain life!
I came to Lark with a goal of being able to stay active for a long life on my beloved mountain trails, but in a desperate state physically and mentally, scared I might never fully recover after a months-long dire respiratory illness.
After 4 months of working hard through an awesomely intense, varied, holistic, never-boring program that I can do at home, I am killing it! It’s been as much about learning to understand and trust my whole body and self as doing a prescribed set of physical movements.
The real life-changing, forever-impactful thing I’ve learned is how to strike the right balance through episodes of middle-aged joint pain that have derailed my fitness endeavors in the past. Getting the guidance and mentorship to help me learn how to wisely, carefully navigate pain and keep strengthening through it has meant overcoming the huge fear based on my family origins of slowly losing my mobility and having to narrow my life more and more because of it.
My brilliant, well-educated, communicative trainer has adapted with my goals as I’ve expanded my outlook. I’m now living the beautifully adventurous life I wanted, continuously finding that ever-moving sweet spot of challenge through finely-tuned and well-informed efforts. I'm fast (but not too fast!) becoming the long-distance touring cyclist of my dream-life. My whole future looks different. I'm forever grateful.
Make this investment in yourself! It's invaluable.

My experience with Lark has been incredible. Both the owner Beth and my coach Karli are exceptionally kind and knowledgeable. Their approach to training is unintimidating, careful, and well thought out, with plans that are highly tailored to the client’s needs and goals. By drawing my attention to and rebuilding neglected muscle groups, Karli is not only helping me improve my athletic performance (e.g. softball swing), but more importantly is helping me avoid injury and set the stage for a continuous active lifestyle as I age. I would recommend Lark to anyone looking to improve or simply maintain their health and well being, no matter where they currently are in their lives.

I’ve been going to Lark for a little over a month and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. I noticed their sign when I drove by and was immediately interested in finding out more—I’d been looking to get more active but had no idea where to start. The thought of going some place without guidance while surrounded by people who made it look too easy is hands down the biggest factor in my gym avoidance.
After a phone call with Josh, I knew Lark was where I wanted to be. Working with Karli has only proven I was right. Instead of hopping on a cardio machine and pushing me beyond my limit, Karli takes my movement and wellbeing into consideration. I definitely feel pushed, but I’m excited to go back and not dreading the next session. In just a few weeks, I feel like I have better movement and more endurance.
However, the physical momentum isn’t what will keep me coming back. It’s how deeply Lark values your entire self that really sold me. My coach encourages my mental wellbeing just as passionately as my physical improvement and I cannot express how deeply I needed this (but didn’t know it). Their philosophy on load and capacity and giving what you can has been life changing (I know that sounds cliche). There is a true education to our workout sessions and Karli is amazing at accommodating my learning style while she coaches. My experience at Lark has impacted other areas of my life and has been eye-opening. For the first time ever, I’ve been able to shift my mindset on things I thought I could not let go (like unnecessarily power cleaning my house whilst stressing to the max about losing time doing other things). I’ve learned how to better prioritize while also prioritizing myself.
If you are looking for a “whole-person” gym and a unique experience that will build you up… come here.

I joined Lark Fitness a little over a year ago after an extended bout of trochanteric bursitis left me weak and out of balance. After I completed PT I was unsure how to rebuild muscle without risking injury. A friend recommended Lark Fitness. Best advice ever! I worked with Chloe, who met me where I was, challenged me when I needed a push and didn’t let me overdo when I was feeling a bit too enthusiastic. I’m stronger than I than I thought I could be at 63 and I don’t feel like I’ve hit my limit - not even close. Just the other day I spied the cane I needed to walk around the block two years ago - I can hardly remember how that felt. Thanks, Chloe. 🤗

The facility is warm, the staff educated and welcoming and their philosophy of inclusion and empowerment makes every session something to look forward to! My coach, Sean, is simply put one of the most engaging fitness professionals I've worked with. He educates, motivates and even humors me with Star Trek conversations (a Trekkie's dream)! If you're looking to stay active and healthy, look no further than Lark Fitness Co.!

Been at Lark since June, 2023. I specifically work with Josh. I’ve been very pleased. Excellent atmosphere. From my first consultation it was clear that Larks focus was on the health and wellbeing of their clients. There is no negative self talk in the floor, we do not focus on weight gain or loss, really don’t talk about body size at all. Focus is strength and healthy bodies. It’s a great community and I’m super happy I found Lark.

I joined Lark almost a year ago and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. I have been working with Josh, who has been amazing in making sure he understands exactly what my goals are and preparing a plan tailored to help reach those goals. I started out with the one on one training which really helped with building my confidence not just in the gym but in my own strength. I’ve since moved to the active life sessions which really gives you the independence in completing a workout while still having the presence of a trainer to help. All the trainers have been amazing in helping during the active life sessions and making even the toughest workout easier. I’ve seen major differences in my strength, mobility, coordination, and confidence not only in the gym but it has also translated into my day to day life. I can’t recommend Lark enough!

After dealing with chronic pain and wanting to build strength I found Lark. Chloe was patient, knowledgeable and met me where I was at. I grew to trust her with my body, release fear surrounding certain exercises and tried new things. During my time at Lark I found strength in my body that never knew existed. Thank you!

I have more strength and stability, but more importantly I have more confidence and a deeper understanding of where my body is at and where it's capable of going thanks to the knowledge and mentorship approach of my stellar trainer Sean. Could not recommend more highly!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my training at Lark. All of the trainers are great! I work mostly with Sean and he has been outstanding. He often has me doing the step ups. That repetition proved useful when I was hiking a few weeks ago at Lake Brandt. It was so easy for me to pick my feet up to ensure that I did not trip over tree roots and other things on the trail. I also felt stronger because of the training.

Lark is exactly what I've been looking for! I needed help increasing strength and confidence in my movement patterns after years of minor injuries that really started to add up and began to take away from my ability to enjoy hiking, camping, and yoga. Josh was so personable and empathetic throughout the process of being matched with the right trainer for me. Sean, my trainer, is professional, knowledgeable, kind, and fun to talk to. After just a few months of working with the folks at Lark, my knee pain has decreased, my confidence has increased, and I'm working toward some goals that seemed out of reach before finding Lark.

After multiple repeat injuries and dealing with more aches and pains than I should at my age, I reached out to Lark Fitness and was connected with my amazing trainer, Chloe. She is extremely knowledgeable, creative, flexible, and motivating. Chloe is an excellent listener who crafts workouts based on my specific needs, and adjusts them as I get stronger and more flexible. I never thought I would say this, but I look forward to my workouts! In addition, Lark is a welcoming place for everyone, no matter their identities, size, or fitness level. They meet everyone where they are and provide a lot of support backed up by an incredible amount of knowledge.

This place is wonderful! Since working out with my trainer Josh Perryman I have experienced some unexpected and wonderful changes to my overall strength and balance. I have noticed my hand grip has improved and my arthritis is not bothering me as much. I love cooking and my improved hand strength is a blessing! I have had Plantar Fasciitis and the stretching and exercises we do during my sessions have kept the flare ups away. The sessions are not just about "pumping iron" but truly encompass a holistic approach to wellbeing. It is nice to be a part of a group with knowledgeable, kind and passionate professionals. I am thankful to have found Lark Fitness

It’s been an incredible experience working out with such thoughtful, gentle, and caring humans. The facility is clean and welcoming . This isn’t a typical workout facility, it’s a place that centers holistic wellness. I’ve never had a trainer (Josh Perryman), who was so invested in my overall wellness and has taken the time to map out goals.
They are very thorough in their work out routines and pay particular attention to discomfort and pain. They tailor their workouts individually and do a great job of accessing a person fitness level and ability.
I highly recommend this facility for anyone looking to improve wellness.

I couldn't be happier that I found Lark. There's so much to love there. I never once felt any kind of judgement. Walking in the door is inviting, safe, encouraging, and empowering. Even though you're paired up with one trainer, it feels like they all know you, greet you when you walk in, check in if you've had a rough day or not feeling well. The staff genuinely cares about each person.
I think I've grown as much mentally as I did ability-wise. The coaches are also educators with the knowledge they pass on such that I feel confident on my own with self-assessment and self-awareness so that I can safely push myself without pushing myself to injury (again).
That brings me to my next point. Three months ago, I injured my foot while running. It put me in a boot and took me out of commission for months. Josh and I were in constant communication during the diagnosis process and my workouts were modified to be boot-friendly. While my foot's been healing, we'll speak frequently to make sure we're not overworking it. Workouts have since evolved as my foot has healed and are working toward the possibility of running again. I've been amazed at how pain-free I've been (even after the doctor said I could be in pain for a couple more months still). I truly think that Lark has been a major driving factor in helping me heal up faster than expected.
I cannot thank them enough for all they've done and I highly recommend checking them out!

I had the best experience doing personal training with Chloe here! The entire staff is kind, supportive and encouraging. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is interested in personal training. Especially if like me, you’ve been intimidated or felt uncomfortable at other big gyms. At lark, there are no scales, no mirrors and no judgement. I never felt self conscious about what I was wearing or looked like. Every workout was a great experience, and the culture the team has created at Lark is a big part of that.
I was struggling with bad knees and my dr said I either needed to start doing functional strength training to help, or I would be looking at a knee surgery down the line. I started working with Chloe and she really helped me so much. She did a great job of helping me to gain confidence and strength in my knees. My knee pain has dramatically improved and I feel so much more capable to do physical activity in general. I’ve learned proper movement technique that I can use for the rest of my life while working out and just moving about doing everyday things. I really cannot say enough good things about the team at Lark, they are an amazing group of people, I’m so happy I found them!

Great professional trainers, beautiful space, wonderful positive vibe!!! I started working with Josh about a year ago post knee surgery. He has helped me so much with my knee's strength and flexibility. More than this, he has also pushed me to get stronger and helped me build stamina. From my observation, all Lark's trainers are experts, they are well trained, and the exercises they program are customized to the individual. I am 70 and have a variety of stiff joints and parts. Josh intially developed a program for my knee but this has expanded to other areas and including core strength. The space is super clean, has great light and is a pleasure to spend time in. Because of all this, I can't help walking away feeling better about myself.

Beth is the boss of the operation and you! Workouts don’t feel like the sweaty behind busting workouts of old. However, I finish as drained mentally as I ever have felt. As she explains “ your brain is making your body do what it should do but hasn’t done in a while.” She is smart , firm, but gentle. She likes plants and has a sense of humor. When I started 9 sessions ago, my body felt 72 years old, which I am. Today, my mind thinks I am 17 and my body feels 50. I’d give her 6 stars if there were 6.

Lark Fitness is amazing! Beth and the other coaches truly care about you and want you to succeed. I am a hiker who came to them for help after completing a 3700 mile 10 month hike. They are really solid folks, and listen to you about your goals - and take your pain seriously. When I started, I thought it would be much more “lift heavy things & move intensely!” - but instead it was very “you’re walking wrong! Fix your feet so you don’t hurt yourself.” I have really increased the amount of reps I can do without my back bothering me, and that’s great! I like how intentional and caring the coaches are. Josh is great.

If you’re looking for a great 1-1 personal trainer without any toxic fitness nonsense, lark might be for you! I have been training with Josh at LARK for the last 2 months and I’m already seeing amazing improvements in my strength, flexibility and range of motion.
What I love most about LARK is the focus on strengthening your body and specially focusing on your weak areas to overcome past injuries. There’s so much thought put into the training program and Josh takes the time to explain the purpose of each exercise and what it is helping with which I find really helpful.
I also love this gym because it is a beautiful space with such a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

How many years, or even decades, does someone have to struggle with getting back to a healthy weight before she realizes that maybe she’s going about it wrong? After spending almost half of my middle-aged life overweight, and never seeming to find the right path back to health, I had an A-HA moment….if I was too heavy, too weak, too listless to move, maybe instead of holding on to the concept of “losing weight” I could focus on the idea of “gaining strength?” THEN I could start moving, THEN I could protect my joints, and THEN I could finally get to the place where I could exercise enough to lose the excess weight. Flip the coin from “weight loss” to “strength gain.”
This is the mental path I took that lead me to Lark Fitness, and ultimately, Josh Perryman, my fantastic trainer and coach. The world is full of strong young men who can give you exercises to do, but Josh brings so much more to the table: his four-year degree in Exercise Science from East Tennessee State University (a place where Olympic athletes train, btw), his experience as a Division 1 college-level athlete, his professionalism, just to name a few.
But on top of all that, Josh brings a huge heart and a positive presence. Every training session is different, always seeking to find the perfect blend of challenge and care. It took a lot for me to make that first call to begin my training journey, but I continue to come because I know my trainer knows what he’s doing, is conscientiously tailoring my exercises for my specific goals, and most of all, gives me the confidence to push myself so that, one day, I will be the healthy, happy, FIT tennis player I used to be…
I do not exaggerate when I say he is the perfect answer to my self-consciousness. He makes me feel strong, competent, and confident. If you can relate to my story, I encourage you to cut yourself some slack, stop beating yourself up, and just give Josh a chance to show you how strong you really are!

Over my 40+ years of running, cycling, and gym ratting, I have worked with lots of fitness coaches, physical therapists, and teachers of various schools like yoga and Pilates. Beth is unique in her knowledge of anatomy and human movement. She combines her technical education in kinesiology with her own experience as an athlete, and adds uncommon communication skills to give her clients not only training exercises, but also insight into their body and mind's responses to the demands placed upon them. I wish there had been trainers like her when I first started the cycle of workouts and injuries she has finally helped me leave behind.

Hey Friends! So what do you do when you are 68 years old, have had a few spectacular falls, resulting in foot, ankle, leg and now hand injuries; BUT, you still want to be as active as possible?! And, you have a hiking trip coming up so you want to, for once, mindfully prepare.
I went on a search and my efforts led me to Beth Hansen. She opened Lark Fitness during my early days of work with her.
Beth is phenomenal…she completed a thorough assessment of my issues and set about developing a specific plan. I love that we have one-on-one sessions. She is super knowledgeable, experienced and skilled so that she can tailor any movement in real time. Every session is a learning opportunity as well. Beth is a teacher at heart and explains the whys of each movement . She has the ability to multi-task too as she listens to my “stories”-lol! We have worked on balance, strength, agility, and safety…and she dedicated to preventing injury while with her and giving you the skills to be less prone to injury. As long as Beth will work with me, I’ll be there…so thrilled to have found her. And I’m happy to say, my hiking trip was a huge success thanks to her work with me from late August to present- more work to do tho!
I live in rural north Guilford county so it was a real plus that the BEAUTIFUL gym(in a building I have known of ALL my life- so it’s historic as I am😄) is relatively close to me…I can be there in 25 minutes- it’s on Summit Avenue near the Steven Tanger Performing Arts Center. This gym is wonderful…all the equipment you would need but plenty of floor space to do what really matters with body work. While expertise and proper facilities are important in selecting a gym, the vibe I get when I walk in to Beth’s cheerful hello, sets me on a positive path of “today is going to be a very good day”. It’s the vibe of this lovely place- it’s non-judgmental and a supportive atmosphere- even for a slightly seasoned gal like myself! Check out Lark Fitness…you will be happy you did!

Beth Hansen runs a clean and personalized gym at Lark Fitness. As an “immune-compromised” person dealing with the pandemic, it was important to me to find a place to work out that observed the science-based prevention guidelines while creating a challenging modified workout program to help me progress after emergency double-knee surgeries. Beth does both. Her attention to detail and creativity continue to help me regain a sense of independence and humor while traversing a lengthy recovery path. Thanks, Beth!
