I love this place. I go there almost every day. And my parents enjoy going there too. It's very important to have a healthy body. It's important to remember that the more you move, the more you want to move. You can't lie on the couch and watch TV. That's a recipe for nervous breakdowns and illness. Come here and start building your healthy and strong body.

⚠️ ⚠️ Updated from 4 stars to 1 star. ⚠️ ⚠️
There is an individual at this gym named Roger who repeatedly approaches women, makes physical contact (touching and hugging), and makes inappropriate comments, regarding marriage, and other sexual innuendos. If women set a boundary he flips and calls them curse words.

Multiple reports! ⚠️ have been submitted to management about this behavior, yet no corrective action appears to have been taken.

This creates an environment where members—especially women—do not feel safe. Until the gym addresses this issue promptly and professionally, I cannot recommend this facility.

Management needs to take safety seriously. There's video evidence. That is all.

Been attending for years, recently quit.

- They Increase monthly membership whenever they desire

-bugs on the floor

- equipment out of service for months at a time

- rude teenage staff in charge of monitoring minors in the pool area

- mens restroom & changing room
molding & rotting everywhere

- facility is 25+ years old & has zero renovations in common areas

- obsurd price increases with zero justification

Canceling membership
i felt so good about my body after giving birth im 4 months postpartum i didnt want to wear any croptops and now that im feeling so much better about my body they dont allow even a little belly showing i DONT RECOMMEND this gym at ALL i miss how it use to be this was soo unnecessary maybe they could of made rules of no booty shorts and no sports bras but a little belly showing this is ridiculous!! Hate it here
What gym doesn’t allow crop tops thats so crazy feels like a school with all these unnecessary rules at this point
Not to mention they are increasing in membership fees and getting more strict in all areas of the gym its gets to a certain point where you just feel like you cant do anything anymore

For the most it's a nice outdoor pool and swimming area. I do think they have gotten a bit over zealous about the "dress code." Which is also not being applied across the board. My child who was in a one piece bathing suit is pretty "modest" was approached and told they had received complaints and she needed to cover up more next time. It doesn't make sense to one, approach a child over their bathing suit rather than their accompanying adult or two, that there were both other children and adults much less covered than she was. It definitely made a difference in our moods for the rest of the time. My daughter went from having fun with her friends to suddenly very self conscious and upset. I talked to the front desk but it still didn't make up for the joy my child was feeling to be taken away because a couple of adults couldn't keep their eyes off a child.

I’m a very unhappy with my experiances at this facility. I joined at the end of June mainly for access to the waterpark for my 4 year old son. I’ve been a personal trainer/manager of a gym for a long time and I was excited that some days I would be able to lift before we head to the pool.
I just completed my second workout here & I’m just as disappointed as the first.
During the first workout upon ENTERING the gym an older gentleman, who i assume was some sort of janitor, approached me with a piece of paper saying I wasn’t allowed to wear a crop top. The front desk, which is 1/4 a mile away from the actual weight room said nothing to me about my attire. It was something I wasn’t aware of and I found it to be very unprofessional that he was attempting to hand me a small piece of paper while I was trying to workout rather than start a simple conversation about the dress code.
Second workout, today, there was an older woman, a personal trainer, training a client near the TRX straps - not using them mind you. I went to go use them & she tells me I can’t workout in the space due to her training a client. I asked “Are you using the TRX?” She said “No but I don’t want my client to get scared.” I didn’t understand this response and chose to walk away.
After leaving the gym I headed over to the waterpark where I was denied entry due to not putting my bank info on file yet. I have not decided if I want a draft pulled so I haven’t done so yet. I paid $290 upon joining and was TOLD I was good until August 1st. I explained to the woman at the waterpark I had already spoken to the front desk about this and she asked “who did you speak to?” I told her I am not familiar with anyone’s names but I had left there only moments ago.
She then told me, my son & my boyfriend we had to go BACK to the main facility. For what? I don’t know. I’m currently writing this from the truck while my boyfriend speaks to them inside.
I paid almost $300 to join this gym and am WAY less than impressed with any of the staff I’ve come in contact with, with the exception of the childcare for the gym. The childcare room is clean, spacious and the women working in there have been wonderful.
As a fitness professional and someone who has been in customer service a long time, something needs to change here in my humble opinion.

After two years of working out at the aquatic center, I had to cancel my membership. Here are the reasons. 1. Their hours are terrible and they’re closed for a lot of holidays when people are actually off work and want to work out. 2. There’s always at least a dozen machines that are broken at any time. The indoor pool and hot tub and sauna are always having problems and being closed down for days at a time. 3. They’ve increased their membership fees twice since I’ve been there. 4. They just implemented a very strict dress code for women that I just found laughable and ridiculous.
No limit fitness is a great alternative. It’s the same price as the aquatic center and you can go 24 hours a day with no dress code restriction or broken equipment.

I came in with a friend that wanted to be showed around the gym and workout with me, the ladies working front desk told us that we had to come back at 7:30 (90 minutes before closing) because guests were not allowed before that, they also had a very mean tone and attitude which they have had since i started coming here. We came back and they charged her $15 just to only be able to stay for an hour and a half. we went to the gym and my friend had a shirt that exposed her midriff when raising her arms and a male staff member came to disrupt our workout to tell us her outfit was “not appropriate” i checked their dress code and it is very clear that it only targets women. a gym is a place to work on yourself not a place to worry about how you’re moving because you might show a little skin. half of the arm/leg machines were out of order which leaves a large amount of people waiting for the only machines that do work. most of the staff members come across as rude and hostile. I wouldn’t recommend coming here as it is overpriced for how little maintenance goes into the place and how they find an issue with every little thing they can.

We have been coming here for years. Unfortunately, it has gone downhill. So much equipment that stays broken. Staff that sits around or works out on the equipment, when they should be working. And an overall feeling that we need to leave much earlier than the center closes, because staff wants to leave. Prices going up abd still the same. Disappointed...No change, but new people keep getting hired that do little to nothing.

The aquatic center has started enforcing a dress code that has been specifically made to target the woman in the gym. It’s not just the way that these rules are worded, but also taking in to mind that when these rules suddenly appeared, they were only handing the little sheets of paper with said rules on them, to the women in the gym.

Reference to the picture of what I was wearing on May 20th. Slight stomach was out, but was told this was going against dress code.

I grew up at this gym, and have met some amazing people within this gym, but I have seen no improvements within the gym itself.

Multiple employees have told me themselves that they would rather the aquatic center focus on upgrading fitness equipment or maybe even worrying about their employees pay rates over dealing with some insane dress code.

Here’s a few others opinions/statements

• This seemingly being targeted directly towards woman is unsettling. And the wording behind some of these bullet points makes me uneasy. Seems like theres an underlying reason for publishing a set of rules worded this way. Very unprofessional and somewhere I would not take my business.

• I was there yesterday and I saw so many people not following the dress code. One girl had her shorts so tiny and up her butt I thought she could taste them and multiple SMALLER girls wearing bras but never addressed by a staff member! If you’re going to demand a dress code you need to address ALL members not just the curvier ones!! It’s hard enough to get confidence these days.

• Men shouldn’t be allowed to wear tight clothing or short biker shorts showing their “junk” and no spandex material allowed if this is specifically directed towards women. We see people dressed with a whole lot less out in public. If people are going to the gym to attract attention, they are there for the wrong reasons. Would you rather see them wearing huge baggy clothes that sag or could get caught in the machines? Workout clothes are made for movement and sweat absorption/dryness control. Some people just have more accentuated bodies than others. The workout area is for adults and they are not middle/high schoolers who don’t have control over their hormones. I can see how this will lead to MAC loosing members. Rather than posting a “dress code,” why not just handle it on an individual level if the need should arise? It creates less controversy.

• Members weren’t alerted of this dress code change, walking up to a paying customer mid workout and telling them they have to leave is not okay. Especially when it’s the active employees picking and choosing whos okay.
I think the language in the dress code being directed at/for women is crazy. No wonder they didn’t want to send that change out to all members.

They are now enforcing a ridiculous dress code. They’ll make a fuss if even a centimeter of your midriff is showing. They don’t fix their broken equipment in a timely manner. I regularly see bugs in the floor, window sills, etc. They also don’t know how to maintain a decent temperature since it’s always hot in the gym.

Nothing but wonderful things to say about this place!

UPDATE***: I knocked 1 star because of an extremely unpleasant, unprofessional and demeaning experience I had on behalf of the "Manager on Duty", Carol on February 2, 2025. I am appalled that they allow such a rude individual to be a manager, which should be an integral role to any facility.

Just woke up early to get to the gym early on Saturday, January 11 to find the entire gym shut down no one there the website says they’re open says they close at five. Doesn’t say anything about being closed today glad I wasted my time coming up here. the roads are completely clear no ice on them. No clue why no one showed up to work at the gym that I go to today. Whoever is in charge should fix this if you’re going to randomly take days off without letting gym members know

I was quite excited to try first time chair yoga. All handicap parking taken however I did not complain the problem is I was not late to chair yoga and entered class from a door that was open to be screamed at by the teacher like I'm in grade school. I said sorry I had a knee replacement and found no handicap parking ..was still given an attitude and an aggressive demeanor by yoga instructor. How humiliating to be treated like this in front of people I was looking to meet and share a calm space in yoga with.
Spoke to management but was a lot to be put through to I go there for positivity and strength not this. Luckily a couple people in class told me they were glad I spoke up and that should not have happened. Management let me in class however the instructor lectured me again about being late however I got in the class not over her 10 minute policy and walked through her OPEN door...then she went on to shame me when I asked for suggestions of modifications as I had a knee replacement...she said it's simple if u can't do it just don't do it and said we'll many people have had knee replacement and not in an encouraging way but a shaming way...I said oh I'm not here for competition on knee replacements...people pay for a membership and not this type of begavior...I hope management really helps this teacher so she no longer does this

I used to be a Harris YMCA member before I joined MAFC. These guys don’t even have a website (but literally a few pages on the Monroe city portal) where you can register for things and manage your account. There is always a massive early morning DMV-esque rush to sign up for swim lessons. To register for anything, you need to go in person to their front desk. Seriously, you can’t do that online in the 21st century? If money and resources are what’s stopping them, they need to raise their prices. Plain and simple. Harris YMCA used to charge $135 per month for families. Providing substandard service and facilities at cheap prices is going to do more harm than benefit.

Sad to see it go downhill. Don't forget your water or your towel. I went today, Saturday afternoon at 2, and forgot my water. So I went to the smoothie bar. It was closed. So I went up front where the sign says vending machines. I go in, the machines are gone. So I go to the desk thinking they've been relocated. Nope! I'm told most people bring their own water. They no longer do towel service, I'm assuming because of covid, yet they want me to drink from a public water fountain on a very busy Saturday afternoon if I forget to bring my own water! And without going into detail let me say that I will never again get into their hot tub for health reasons. Instead of remodeling, how about we consider the comfort and health of our members, maybe? It might be pretty but it's also pretty poorly managed lately.

Pretty fun place with lot to offer. But the pricing isn't for most people. I got a free pass for the week. 150 dollars in start up fees(for what? Paperwork?) Then 78 a month. And there's a contract to keep you from cancelling. Feels a little aggressive financially. But the outdoor pool is fun. Indoor is to when their not doing classes. There's a gym to but I wasn't really there for that. Life guards are inconsistent. Told us we couldn't do things that other people were doing in plain view. Cool place but start up fees and contracts seem a little disrespectful considering the monthly cost is already kinda high.

Horrible staff, old equipment, prices keep going up and when you try to cancel they tell you to come only in person. Then when u do they tell u they are gonna charge another month. They charge 15 dollars everytime for a guest accompanying a person with a membership and even though you are paying 15 dollars you can't get in until 7:30pm, which means you are paying that for less than 2 hours of gym time because they close at 9. This place used to be so good now it’s going downhill. Staff is really rude i can’t do my workout’s without them following me around. This place is a joke don’t go here.

I pay $84 per month for use of the facility and water park. I was bringing a guest and were willing to pay, but they get turned away because we can't have guests until after 4 July. It is noon on 2 June 23 and there is no one here

Rude staff chasing me down cause my ID didn’t scan and I didn’t notice and giving me attitude when taking my ID and giving it back. And told me I can’t do certain things on the exercise mat. Like it’s meant for that use and give me attitude when doing my workout

First time visiting and was given a tour. Very nice place and the people were very friendly. Only drawback for me was the high cost of joining, monthly fee isn't bad itself but a high sign up fee.

This rec center is awesome!! I chose it over the other, because of the steam room and sauna. The equipment is brand new, and in a huge area. The facility is clean! Love the yoga classes too. The girls and I, are very happy that we all joined.

Great gym, the protein shakes are amazing. One word of advice... when they close--- they close.

Good place, decently priced... the only issue are the workout machines/ pool breakdown that happen a little too often sometimes.
