The staff was mostly friendly. The facilities are pretty good. But the prices don't match the community or the facilities! I understand the price of everything is raising, but seems to me more people would come if it was affordable. Also think it would be smarter to always have more than 1 swim lane open for the public. Have more discounts available for the locals who cant afford extravagance but would like a place to enjoy with their kids! Like a once a week local only free swim day, and make a sign up sheet for people to call and put their names on a time slot or for people to add their own names online. Allow someone to come only 2x's per month and they have to add their name to a backup list for the other 2 days to get a many locals in a possible. Swim blocks can be dependent on hours of operation and other needs. Just a way to give back to the community.

My first experience wasnβt great. This is not a very kid friendly place unfortunately and I wouldnβt recommend taking your kids to the pool. Itβs suited for more elderly people, and the amount of rules/strictness make it apparent kids are not welcome.
Besides that, itβs a nice little facility and clean!

My introduction to Mountain Hearts was through Aquatic Physical Therapy. The staff at Mountain Hearts are both knowledgeable and helpful. They offer personal physical training and various classes of varying difficulty. I personally have attended water aerobics, Tai Chi, and Yoga. They also offer a Silver Sneakers seated class that is always full. Silver Sneakers and water aerobics are taught by their own certified staff members while Tai Chi is taught by Bill Mohr and Yoga is taught by Judy Haas, both of whom are amazing physical therapists. Every individual staff member is a wonderful, caring person making Mountain Hearts an exceptional place to be.
Members can attend classes free of charge, except for Yoga which is an extremely reasonable cost of 5$ for members and 8$ for non-members. Yoga is taught after business hours once a week. All of the classes that I have attended have been so helpful in my continued journey to full mobility.
Water aerobics has improved my strength and muscle tone. Wendy, Adam, and on the rare occasion Ginger are all wonderful instructors. Wendy's recent addition of water pilates on Mondays has given me an another way to work my muscles and balance. This class has formed the base of my fitness improvements.
Yoga (Flow) has helped me exponentially to increase my strength, flexibility, and balance. Judy offers modifications and expert advice to get the best results despite physical limitations. When weather allows, the class is held outside; a beautiful way to end a stressful day. The atmosphere is welcoming, playful, and calming in this class. Judy is so supportive and encouraging that even a water buffalo can feel like a swan. I truly look forward to Monday nights and the opportunity for an hour of focus and peace.
Tai Chi is my most recent addition to classes and was a goal that I knew was far above my ability in 2022 when I started physical therapy at the hospital. As I am very new to this class, I am not yet able to discuss my results, but already I can tell that it will improve my balance, strengthen my legs, and increase my range of movement in my upper body. Bill is a very patient and kind teacher.
As with any endeavor, you will get out of it what you put into it. Mountain Hearts is a small facility compared to some of the gyms in larger areas, but it is a wonderful facility with terrific opportunities to increase your fitness no matter where you are in your own journey.

Smaller but adequate gym with weight machines, treadmills, ellipticals, indoor warm water pool, hot tub. Water aerobics, swim lessons, etc. This place is a blessing to this small community. You can get a discounted membership if your doctor fills out a form for you. Some seniors' insurance will pay the fee for membership.

Ashe hospital is great..they help so many in this rural mountain community. Healthcare from emergency rooms...to rehab, physical therapy and water classes to help the old and frail. The pool is very well maintained, the gym is awesome, the staff is beyond helpful and go out of there way to make sure you get the care you need. Highly recomend.
