I'm just beginning, having trained with Sharon for about 3 months. I joined after a lengthy break from regular exercise, wanting to become stronger and healthier. Sharon met me where I was, developing individualized training that builds from session to session. She challenges me while keeping me motivated. I haven't been tempted to skip a session yet, which is quite a feat. Sharon makes it fun to work hard!

Rick and Sharon are the Personal Trainers personal trainer. They want nothing more than to see you succeed, and it shows. Always on time, EVEN 6AM. The kind of folks you'd like to live next door to. I can't say enough good things about Old School Fitness and its owners. You really fall in love with the whole outfit and they make you feel like you are their only client. I think you should call them now.

After considering a few different options for training/workouts, I am so thankful I chose Old School Fitness. Rick has taken the time to understand me and plans my workouts so that they are safe, effective and enjoyable. He has taught me SO MUCH. I highly recommend Old School Fitness!

I was new to working out, when I decided nine months ago that it was time to lose some weight but more importantly to be become more fit. Working out in a big gym was too intimidating for me, so finding Old School Fitness on the internet and learning about their personal training philosophy really appealed to me. I met with Sharon, had an initial assessment and decided to give it a try. Nine months later I am still with Old School Fitness. Sharon is awesome!! In the short time I have worked with her, I met my weight goal but more importantly have a whole new approach to eating that is healthy and sustainable. I am more fit and toned and can now actually see muscle definition. But what I most appreciate is the effort Sharon puts into planning each of my workout sessions, the constant encouragement she provides while creating increasingly challenging workouts while always stressing safety first. After my hour session with Sharon, I feel a great sense of accomplishment and constantly surprised with the progress I am making. Old School Fitness was the best internet find I ever made and I highly recommend Old School Fitness no matter what your fitness level.

I decided to train at Old-School Fitness because I wanted workouts tailored to my needs plus a private space. For 10 years, I competed in figure shows and wanted a change from training isolated muscle groups and literally hours of cardio on step mills in gyms. CrossFit was an option, but overtraining and injury were always in the back of my mind. I wanted a fitness program for the long term.
Workouts at Old-School Fitness offer a lot of variety, which keeps me motivated and looking forward to my sessions β they incorporate strength, toning and cardio into full body exercises. I like using kettlebells, the BOSU, boxing and medicine balls. Iβve developed a lot more flexibility and functional strength β helps me working around the house and managing 4 large energetic dogs.
Training with Rick has helped me get back into shape physically and mentally. He pushes me just enough to go beyond what I think are my limits, but also is in tune when I need to back off in intensity yet still provide me a dynamic workout. Iβve gone done several clothing sizes without the stress of a strict competition diet and have gotten out of the rut of my usual workout routine.
I really enjoy the privacy of the studio too - usually itβs just my trainer and myself. I donβt feel self-conscious about learning new exercises or have to share my personal space and equipment with others. Training at Old-School Fitness has definitely put the fun back into my working out.
Iβve been a client for 2 years and continue to enjoy my workouts and time spent at Old-School Fitness.

Skip the Cross-Fit and big box/cookie cutter gyms and go see Rick and Sharon. After an initial assessment, each workout is customized to your specific needs. No upselling, no contracts, just personalized training at your pace. New to working out? Been a while since you hit the gym? Not a problem! Are you in shape and want help with a specific goal? Not a problem! As a 42 year old who sits at a desk most of the day, they have helped nearly eliminate my back pain and increase my mobility, well as help me with my long term weight loss and fitness goals. Trust me, I've been to many other trainers, and Old School does it right.

I've been training with both Sharon and Rick for nearly a year (3x/week). I've lost 25 pounds, gained visible muscle but most importantly healed a serious back injury through their carefully customized workouts. The studio is very private - only one or two clients in the gym at a time. They emphasize technique and pay close attention to form which I especially appreciate having been injured. They are patient and listen and never push beyond my capability. I'm doing exercises now that I would have thought impossible to do even before my injury.
I am very grateful that I found Old School Fitness. As someone who does not enjoy exercise for the sake of exercise - now that I've experienced the benefits - I am committed to investing in my health in a way I never did before. I highly recommend Old School Fitness to anyone at any fitness level.

I have been working out with Sharon at Old-School Fitness for a little over a year. Iβve learned how to set achievable nutrition and fitness goals so that the changes are sustainable and results are long-term. I love training in their studio since there is never more than one other person training at the same time as me. Sharon knows what I'm capable of and always has a great workout planned that pushes me just enough. The results have been awesome--fat loss, toned muscles, and improved self-esteem!

After suffering a soft tissue injury, heeding medical advice and spending 6 months with PT and massage therapy, I felt things were at a stalemate. Then I found the next level to achieve full recovery. The training and knowledge I receive at Old School Fitness has not only restored my health, but encouraged me to continue on to a better fitness level. I am steadily seeing a dramatic improvement in my strength, toning and even muscle definition through the program tailored for me. Their training has and still is paying dividends in my overall health and well-being. I highly recommend both Sharon and Rick.

Sharon asked me to sign up on meeting one for either an 8 or 12 visit package (at $65/visit). They take cash or check only (a red flag). I asked for a trial run ($169) because it's hard to sign up for the unknown. I was glad I did. My initial assessment and first training seemed like I'd expect, but on my third visit, right after walking in, I was asked to ride the stationary bike for five minutes at a certain speed. Being new to working out, I couldn't do it at the pace the whole time. Immediately next I was asked to do the same on the row machine. I couldn't do it non-stop at the requested rate either. I finally said to Sharon that I was surprised that there is no stretching and no warm up and I've never had a trainer tell me to jump on a bike and "go" like that. I'm not looking to get injured. The goal is to get healthy. I canceled my next appointment and looked for another trainer. At this price point, I expected a whole lot more, and was disappointed at what I found.

I've been working out with Rick for more than a year now and have seen a big transformation in my body. I'm stronger, more toned, and see muscles I didn't know I had. (My co-workers often comment on my muscular arms. And I can do a plank longer than my husband!) I've learned so much about the right way to efficiently work out and avoid injury. Rick and Sharon are very careful and thoughtful about your goals, injuries/illnesses, and needs. Rick even incorporates some of my physical therapy exercises into my workout. Workouts aren't a cakewalk, but you can rest assured you'll see real results and get truly personalized workouts and attention. Not like cookie-cutter chain gyms. Now I look forward to exercising. There's always something new to try. The studio is private, clean, and comfortable. And Rick and Sharon couldn't be nicer! Plus they're flexible with appointment times. My husband has also been working with Rick for almost two years. You should make an appointment right now! Seriously. Just do it.

Rick and Sharon at Old School Fitness are simply the best. I've been working out with Rick for more than 7 years and have been transformed from someone who didn't enjoy exercise to someone who craves and misses it when I have to be away. Rick has kept things interesting and dynamic as I my fitness level has evolved. He has mixed it up with body weight exercises, boxing, kettle bells and more!! Simply the best.

Rick and Sharon are fantastic. This is a locally owned small business that really gives you a value and a personal touch to go with it. I learned a LOT about kettle bells and about getting back into shape in general. I highly recommend them both and Old-School Fitness.

I have mostly worked with Rick, but both Rick and Sharon are excellent personal trainers. Rick really tunes into your own personal fitness goals. He knows when to push you to your limit, but he always listens when you have aches and pains. He's great at adapting your training sessions to strengthen areas of muscle weakness and prevent further injuries. When I first starting working with him, I had a lower back and shoulder injury but within 2 months, those injuries were gone and I had a new-found core strength. I would highly recommend this studio - it's a locally owned business focused 100% on excellent customer service. You can't get more customized personal training at those big-box fitness centers. Rick and Sharon are the Real Deal.

I came into town to visit friends over the weekend. My flight was scheduled to come in early so not wanting to bother anyone that morning, I checked ahead of time to see if anyone in the Raleigh area trained kettlebell sport. I have been training for about a year and a half now in the sport method. Lo and behold, I found Sharon and Rick Goodman local to the area. Had a few setbacks getting to the Apex area but Sharon worked with me to schedule my workout.
It was a great workout as well! Sharon was very observant and helped me point out a couple of things that would be beneficial in the world of kettlebell sport! We had a great time, and Sharon shared allot of insight with fitness in general. She customized a session from a conversation we had before I got there. It was exactly what I needed and what I was looking for in my short time in NC!
