Performance Sports Center is a great place for kids to learn and have fun. Specifically, Grace Hawley was a great instructor and I never saw her without a smile on her face. She taught the kids so many new skills and was very patient.

I love taking my girls here to their open gym and they always have a blast! They have lots of fun equipment. Unfortunately, they can’t ever last more than 1-1.5 hours before they’re ready to go and now the price has gone up from $20 to now $25 per child. This is a wonderful facility that my kids enjoy, but $50 for 90 mins if I’m lucky isnt feasible right now. I would love to see them offer a monthly membership or something similar in the future!

I would not recommend this establishment for gymnastics or birthday parties. The owner is rude and refuses to discuss concerns with customers. We had a party here and my fiancé wanted to talk to the owner about some concerns the owner refused to get on the phone . Then when I called she refused to get on the phone with me. We had several issues the day of the party we asked to speak to the owner because we weren’t happy and she was unavailable again. So when my fiancé left an honest review about the party and our experience in n stead of reaching out to a dissatisfied customer to make it right the owner decided to respond to the review and lied about our entire experience. We have photographs , and recordings to prove what our experience was like with this business. If by our looking for a gymnastics facility I would search elsewhere.

Do not use this facility for gymnastics, toddler play, or birthday parties. You'll regret it. They overcharged and didn't deliver all items promised. Paid for additional time that was cut short. No air condition in the beginning of August. Does not offer refrigerator or freezer space for party food. Construction everywhere. Coaches and owner do not care about the individual gymnasts or families that have brought their children here for several years. Owner refused to get on the phone to have a conversation to avoid a negative review, but owner kept "checking in" on our birthday party, refusing to speak to us. When we asked again to speak with the owner in person at the end of the party, she was suddenly nowhere to be found. Birthday party was for a boy and was given a pink and purple cookie cake. Not allowed in the party room until 15 minutes before party where nothing was set up, not even the inflatables we paid extra to have. Cakes melted due to the excessive heat. Was not allowed to drop off decorations to be put in the room prior to the party, as Debbie stated, "We don't do anything but provide the space." Debbie is extremely rude, belittling, laughing when you request to speak to the owner. I'm surprised this place is still in business with all the negative press they've received. Stay away, you've been warned!

Truthfully was so excited to trial the gymnastics class at butterfly gym, but when we arrived it just wasn’t what we expected. The “coaches” explained what to do to the parents in about 30 seconds and then the parents just walked around with their children in a circuit for half the class, and then switched to the second circuit for the other half of the class. There was no real instruction from the “coaches”, and although I know that this class was supposed to include parent involvement, my daughter only received like one minute of “coaching”. I just can’t see spending $55/month for me to do all the teaching myself with no input from the staff.

We have been being our daughter to Butterfly Gym for 2 years. We give the instructors more stars because they are patient with kids and coach the girls well. The owner Anna however is anything but kind and patient. Each interaction with us she has been rude and does not speak to paying customers with respect. Apparently there are rules for the hallways. No one knows them because they are not posted anywhere. If your kids are being kids in the hallway, Anna will rudely correct them on rules that are not known and disrespectfully tell the parents about it. There are more respectful ways to speak to each other. You would think that the people bringing in the money each month to her business would at least be interacted with respectfully and with appreciation.
Coaches in the classes are fine. Avoid the owner. There are better places that appreciate your business in the area to go to giving us more options. This place in Fuquay needs to do better.
Responses to owners reply:
Case in point just proven in your response. A simple respectful conversation about the hallway would have been suffice. It’s not common sense especially when sports teams warm up by jogging and sometimes with balls involved in the same hallway. No big deal. Just move out of their way. Common sense.
My child was not unsupervised. It’s perfectly cool to not allow that in the hallway. No big deal. The problem is your lack of respect for others when interacting with them. Many parents are complaining of your rudeness when I asked if this was just a one off issue. Like I said a simple respectful conversation would have been just fine.

Though the facility is nice and clean we were extremely disappointed in the owner’s attitude and lack of professionalism. The coach was very nice but the skills being taught did not seem as advanced as what we have experienced at other programs. We decided not to continue on as it clearly wasn’t the right fit for our family.

My daughters have been going to Performance Sports Gym for about 2 years now.
They have also hosted 2 birthday parties for us - one in the big gym, one in the Butterfly gym. I highly recommend for birthday parties. It's nice that it is a private party, and cost is very reasonable considering. Both parties were fantastic, the kids had so much fun and the coaches were amazing.
Both of my daughters have been also taking weekly classes. They look forward to their classes each week. It's been a great way for them to move their bodies and learn the basics of gymnastics.

Hoping this review will get the attention of the owner, Anna, who will not respond to our emails or phone messages. You owe us $205 that you charged our credit card for classes that we never officially signed up for or attended in February. This $205 includes a kidfit class that was on a waitlist and we couldn’t attend and 2 of the same preschool classes—I only have 1 preschool age child. Making someone enter a credit card to sign up for a trial is one thing but never scheduling the trial with the family then charging them like they’re in the class is not okay.
I hope this is a mistake and an oversight because you’re busy teaching. I do plan to remove this review once we can get this settled but I can’t seem to reach you on phone or by email.
I sent Anna this message on 1/24/24:
Thank you, I am registering them this morning. We may need to give a 30 day notice at our current gym. Will someone be in touch once I submit registration? There is a spot in tumble for my oldest that she could do until there is an opening in Kidfit. Thank you for your help!
Anna responded on 1/29 (I hadn’t heard back from her so I registered for a trial, thinking we could pick the day)
“Hi Kathryn,
I see you registered for a few things. It looks like you signed Lainey up for 2 different classes, and then Ivy'Kate for Tumbling? There is no need for Lainey to trial both classes, the instructors are the same and will make sure she is in the correct level. Do you prefer 4:30 or 6:30?
All of your trials are active since none of those classes have waitlists, so your trials are this Wednesday. Is that ok? If you want to do trials and then postpone enrollment to allow for a 30 day notice at your current gym, that is ok, just be sure to let us know so we don't overcharge you.
Thanks!
Performance Gym”
I did not respond because this email was in my junk mail. I then had a charge for $205 on our credit card (you had to give number to sign up for trial but no where did it state you’d be charged immediately— the trial is free). I reached out to question the charges which were for 3 classes— one for my older child and 2 of the same class for my younger.
2/24/24 I wrote,
“Hello!
This email was in my junk folder. And as I was reconciling my checkbook I realized you all charged us for the month of February for / classes for my 5 year old and one class for my 7 year old. I’ll forward the receipt in a moment. We need a refund asap!
We had to give a 30 day at our other gym so we have not been available for a trial. I’m upset/confused how we could have been charged $205 and we’ve not even been to the gym or had our trial class.
I’m looking forward to getting this straightened out. We are still interested in class but this is not the best first impression. 😖”
No response from Performance so my husband called on 3/12, spoke to Debbie who said she would ask Anna about refund and I followed up with an email. Nothing, so I emailed on 3/14 again. Debbie responded on 3/15 saying she’d give this to Anna that day. Here we are on 4/6/24 and I do not have $205 and our family has never stepped foot in the gym. I’ve filed a claim with our bank but I sure wish Anna would reach out and make this situation right.

Signed my daughter up for kidfit classes and she was very excited to start! I was disappointed to find that my daughter didn’t receive any direction from the young girls running the class. They would frequently talk among themselves rather than pay attention to the kids in the class and provide them with any instruction. My daughter was not taught anything during any of her classes. After a few weeks we decided this was not what we were looking for and I withdrew her from the program.

If I could put 0 stars I would, When I sent my kid here I was expecting a delightful and welcoming environment, perfect for learning. Instead I was met with the exact opposite, all from one woman named Anna. She was extremely rude to my child behind my back, and she repeatedly told me how much she hated it because of her. This needs to be brought to attention as I have seen other parents complain about it was well.

Edited to add they just charged me again.
Another month. SO I guess this facility is okay if you never plan to cancel. If you do cancel? Expect to keep paying.
Nice facility. But be aware they are signing you up for recurring automatic draft when you think you are just paying for one month. When I asked for a refund, because our schedule changed and they no longer offer a class on Thursdays that would we could switch to (as I was told when we started) they said they require a 30 day cancellation notice. Which is bizarre. They’re basically asking you to always pay an extra month, since they charge monthly. So I just paid them $75 I’ll never get back.
I also felt they didn’t handle older beginners well at all. I watched my 12 year old daughter who can do arials and handsprings being run through the barest of basics for an hour. When I asked about an evaluation to move her up the front desk was like “just ask her coaches” I turn around to see a gaggle of teens without an adult in sight. They’re giggling and gossiping and my daughter freaked out at the idea that we would walk up to this group and ask them to evaluate her. So we left, hoping the next week would provide an opportunity to interact with an adult. It didn't.
My nephew at 15 spent more than half of the paid lesson stretching. I understand that stretching is important. But to spend more than 30 minutes on it? Then the “coaches” basically walked away and let them do whatever they wanted.
Honestly disappointed. If you aren’t part of their competitive team- which means doing gymnastics from a super young age, then they aren’t taking great strides to teach you. Which is sad. Because my daughter and nephew really wanted to learn.

Great gym with good teaching and equipment, but awful job with paperwork and signing up, and legalities. They have a lot of front desk that never can help or know anything. My granddaughter and Son went to view the facility and talk to someone today December 16th, 2022. He had some questions before making the decision to sign his daughter up and he was met with unwelcoming vibes from the owner Anna, refusing to extend the initial handshake to being directly to the website even though he was there in person. After receiving such a negative vibe they left leaving my granddaughter in tears. He told her this place just isn’t the right place for US. If I could give a negative 10 I would have. It’s really sad that people can be so negative right in the presence of a 7yr old. They will never get any of mine or my family’s money. Signed very disappointed.

At first I thought maybe I was being overly sensitive when I kind of side eyed how they treated my 3 year old and some of the kiddos when we went to a trial class. Google has confirmed it’s not just me. We were trying to find a new spot since Artistic our gymnastics gym in Garner closed. After the trial class I had said we can wait until next year since it seemed she wasn’t keeping up at the instructor’s pace and a few times my daughter looked confused or embarrassed. They assured me after she did great and I said we’d be gone for the rest of August but will think about it in September. I got an email first week of a September saying they missed her at first class (and were about to charge my card for the month). I think maybe the owner/staff need some training in how to teach and work with young children. I was looking for a way for my daughter to get some energy out, not for her to become a future gold medal Olympian. It’s a clean and cute facility if they all could just get their act together on how to teach and deal with children and parents, and treat people. We went to a birthday party at Sonshine Gymnastics and staff were 10x better.

My daughter went here a couple of years ago and is still upset about the poor treatment she received. The instructors practiced group punishment and would make everyone in the group do an exercise over again if she made a mistake, which of course she did because it was her first time doing anything gymnastics related. She always felt humiliated and singled out. The other kids didn’t like her because she “got them all in trouble”. It wasn’t fun - it was like a job for the kids.

We have been coming to this gym almost three years now for birthday parties, track out camp and gymnastics two nights a week. We absolutely LOVE it here and my daughter has really learned A LOT! The classes are much more structured and tailored to your child's development and performance level. Anna has been wonderful and knows what she is doing and does care for each child she works with and their progress. Her passion for gymnastics shows. Parties and Trackout Camps aren't that focused on gymnastics, but more the basics and to just have fun. If you want your child to be a gymnist, sign up for weekly class. :)

If I could give 0 or negative stars, I certainly would. Rude . . . rude . . . rude -- that's what I can say about the owner. I sent my kids to track out camp at this establishment. First off, it is NOT a gymnastics camp which is certainly how she portrays the camp to be on her website. No, it does not say gymnastics camp, but it has kids in gymnastics attire on the pictures of the track out camp leading you to believe it is gymnastics based. My kids came home to tell me 1) they could not play the board games because they had missing pieces, 2) they sat and watched movies daily, 3) they were not instructed AT ALL in gymnastics or how to use the gym equipment, 4) they were supposed to play games but the teachers did not motivate all students to participate which made playing games less interesting, 5) the teacher showed tons of favoritism to kids she knew. My kids have been year round for 6 years and we have attended lots of different track out camps to get different experiences. This one is the first that I have been compelled to write about. What a complete waste of time and money! Now on to communication -- I should have known to NOT take my kids there when I was unable to get in touch with anyone over the phone or via e-mail. After three different e-mails were sent and I had called and left several messages, I finally got a short e-mail telling me "they" would call me later that day -- they NEVER called. I sent my husband in to speak with someone and check out the place because I could not get anyone on the phone. He said it looked fine (our ideas of fine are entirely different). Response by e-mail is non-existent and returned calls do not happen. I suppose since my kids were only going to attend track out camp we were not worthy of a phone call. UGH!! After the camp was over, I tried to get a receipt with the business tax ID number so I could get reimbursed by my flexible spending account. I tried calling and got NO return phone calls. I sent an e-mail . . . no response. A month later I sent a second e-mail . . . no response. I then drove to the establishment to get a receipt and the owner told me to "just print it and write down the TAX ID". How hard would it have been for her to send me an e-mail with the tax ID in it and tell me to print it out and write it down . . . no, she has no respect for her patrons. How was I supposed to know the tax ID since she NEVER called back nor responded to an e-mail. It was not that easy! I then asked that she print out the receipt and write it on the receipt herself while I was standing there. You would have thought I was asking her to give up a lung. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I cannot say whether or not she can do anything in the gymnastics field because she clearly didn't teach gymnastics during the week long track out camp. However, she is rude and does not communicate well.

We were pleased to be invited to my friend's daughter's 9th birthday party at this facility but unfortunately we had to leave as soon as we got there. "Miss Anna" is one of the rudest, most unprofessional people I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. After our brief encounter with her, I asked the staff what her name was, for review purposes, and was appalled to find out she is the owner of this place. My friend booked this place for her daughter's birthday party and invited all her friends, one of which is my 2-1/2 year old son. My friend was not told of any age or size restrictions and my son is tall for his age so he wasn't much smaller than some of the other kids out there, but as soon a she saw him, she loudly stated for the entire gym to hear "he's too small to be out here by himself!" Although I was five feet behind him escorting him, as directed by staff upon arrival. Not thirty seconds later, she picked the mat my son was playfully jumping around on to send all the kids to (out of a dozen or so out there) and then loudly exclaimed, "he's too small to be here! He needs to get outta here! He's gonna get trampled!"
I calmly picked up my sweet boy and told him we needed to leave and he was obviously not happy about it. I told her we will just leave then and she did not respond. My friend was mortified at hearing how Miss Anna treated my son and I. This was her daughter's birthday party and she was apologizing for someone else's rudeness.
Don't do business with this woman. Save yourself the trouble of being treated poorly and go elsewhere. Other businesses actually want your business. She clearly does not.
