My sisters and I have been coming since August 2025. We enjoy it very much and have noticed some recent changes in staff members. We do believe it has been a change for the betterment. We want to give a shout out to the new member "Justin" who cleans the machines. He is is faithful to diligently clean the entire time we are there. It is noticeable that he takes pride in his work. Whoop, whoop! Go Justin, keep up the good work!

I’ve used planet fitness in Albemarle as a workout destination for the past year and a half and have had a very positive experience. The facility has outstanding equipment, is never crowded and the staff are friendly. They do an amazing job of keeping the place clean and well maintained. I have a black membership and consider it a major bargain that allows me to use other PF locations when we travel.

Very disappointed in the customer service by the club individually and planet fitness as a company. Was having a great summer back from college working out with my family until staff member( tall, dark hair, works in the mornings, appears to be in her early 50s) became a recurrent issue. What started out as observed PDA with a male member of the gym being brought to her attention became harassment and poor customer service/conduct. When discussing the inappropriate behavior with her she laughed in my face. I contacted the club to file a complaint with dates and times that these interactions would appear on the cameras and never received a direct reply. She then very blatantly has ignored me and my family, denied tanning services, refused to come to the reception desk when we were there, and has only been rude when forced to interact with me or my family. Disappointed in the lack of action from both managers and Planet Fitness for not taking customers complaints seriously.

Was working out and closing time came didn’t realize, a worker came up told us it was closing time and immediately said bye see ya before we could get a word in and apologize for keeping them late tried to wipe down the machine and kept telling us to leave very rudely, didn’t catch her name but she can’t chew gum with her mouth closed, looks like she could be middle aged/ 30s but thinks suntan lotion is sunscreen and loved the tanning bed would not like to return!!

One of the staff stopped me as I was leaving and asked me if I color my hair in the bathrooms. First of all, that's my personal hygiene business, and as long as I leave the bathroom in the same condition as when I got there (which I DO), I consider it my private business. So I complained to their corporate office ...crickets. Obviously, they too think asking embarrassing questions in public is good business. Keep that in mind the next time you think about visiting this place. There are better gyms out there and worth the extra money.

Nice equipment and the employees are really nice! I just wish there was a hybrid bed. Went to tan and they tried to put me in a bed that someone was already in. Didn’t ask for my name like they usually do to tan, so not sure if regular members can just go in.

Great experience at the Albemarle Planet Fitness!!! The staff is amazing, the equipment is great, and I'm so happy they offer classes. I like the classes because they definitely help keep me going as well as it gives me an opportunity to learn what some of the exercises equipment is/does since I haven't seen some of it before. Oh, and the hydro-bed massage things are INCREDIBLE!!! 😁

I’ve been tanning here regularly without any issues, but today I was told I had to wait another 30 minutes before I could tan. I understand if that’s the policy, but it’s never been enforced before. What’s even more frustrating is that I was here much earlier yesterday, so it wouldn’t have even been 24 hours if “Tish” the front desk girl hadn’t been in the bathroom for 20-30 minutes before coming out to check people in. This happens multiple times a week—there’s always a note on the computer saying, ‘Please be patient,’ and then it takes forever for her to return. It’s unprofessional and makes it inconvenient for members who are just trying to use the facility. Very disappointing experience.

great gym, used to work here years ago when it first opened and the service has went down hill since 2019. was at the gym on the stair stepper today around 4pm and there was a little kid jumping all over the equipment and running around while the teenager they were with was on the stair stepper with his gf just playing around too close to me. pissed me off really. get that out of this gym. that goes against policy anyways.

Just moved here, nice location staff is nice. Unfortunately, I’m used to a 24hr pf so the hours are not convenient for me. They close extremely early on the weekends, when I’m able to do my routine after working two jobs during the week. So it’s looking like I have to cancel my membership.

I love Planet Fitness, you CAN'T beat the value. Staff is always friendly and has a welcoming attitude. Jordan is terrific, she has an infectious laugh. More floor stretching would be awesome since this area in the Alb location has several frequently used doors sharing the same space. BUT PLEASE EXTEND THE HOURS - COVID LOCKDOWN IS BEHIND US NOW!!

Horrible experience and too late at night and a hr drive for a sour trip just walking into the door to be greeted with hostility. Went there to relieve stress and got met with Karen who lived up to the name. She refused to let me workout due to a balance she felt I couldn’t pay due to PF not drafting as they should but then she saw they actually drafted for the current month. I got too disgusted with her behavior and holding me up I no longer wanted to workout but walked off and went to the car to get my card and paid it. Took it back in to show her bc she acted like one payment was the end of the world and gonna close the gym down. I told her she didn’t have to act like that because it’s paid and had I known would’ve been paid for it but it was PF fault. She had a condescending attitude and probably racial motivated to turn me away. She didn’t stop anyone else, run through their account or even check to see if they had any payments. And oh no late fees was bc it wasn’t my fault as I tried to tell her who mentioned me not having the funds. Karen is the assistant mamager’s name who was refusing me service and had poor customer service. Never have I been turned away bc of $25 that was paid immediately after I went to get my card. This is who they have in charge then I see why they don’t have more people coming but leaving to go to another location. I will stick with Monroe or just discontinue my membership! Wrong leaders take their job way too serious. Funny thing is don’t people due to a balance especially when they didn’t know as the funds was their and paid instantly. Better places to workout then here!!!

This Planet Fitness location is pretty good, only a couple of minor improvements I can think of that could be made. It seems they are a bit lacking in machines for working the abs, but otherwise, they have everything you could want. The showers could use a bit more TLC too, particularly the curtains could be cleaned better. Overall, it is a very good location and I would recommend it.

Stopped in the area and wanted to work out. Must say it was nice and refreshing to see a planet fitness with some newer equipment. Definitely made the experience amazing since the PF I'm used to has all the outdated stuff. The staff were nice and the gym itself was relatively clean surprisingly. A lot of the planet fitnesses have started to decline on this over the years but this one has hit that yet. Look forward to another opportunity to workout here in the future.

Unfortunately in my case an employee made a mistake with my bank account #, I was charged a late fee on top of my fee which was only $35. Told it was fixed and it happened again and again. Manager's refused to refund although it was not my mistake. Then told they would offer 2 monthsfree.. And again was charged. I've paid over $500 since Oct. I have bank screensshots as proof. I kept giving them chances to correct it. Told over and over its fixed. So my advice is make sure your information is correct because they will not refund. Just wanted a place to go with my kids. My mistake.

Of all the locations I have visited, this is my favorite. It is clean. The employees are very nice. I personally think the black card membership is worth the price for the ability to use the Hydro massage. Plenty of exercise bikes and recumbent bikes and treadmills. I wish they had more free weights but that's not really what Planet Fitness is about. They have at least 2 of most weight machines. There is a 30 minute circuit training area. Stop in and see if they are the right fit for you.
