I’m currently sitting in my car outside the gym because I’m beyond frustrated with the experience I just had. Jordan was incredibly unprofessional and clearly not suited for customer service. He took his time assigning me to a bed, which shut off after just 2 minutes. When I asked him to restart it, I walked away assuming he was restarting the same bed, but instead, he reassigned me to a completely different one without saying a word. He watched me walk off without making any effort to clarify, then just sat behind the counter while I came back confused. To make things worse, I had to scan my QR code each time just to be reassigned, which made the process even more frustrating. When he finally assigned me to bed 4, someone was already on it. After several failed attempts and zero communication from him, I gave up and left. I told him his service was terrible, and instead of taking any responsibility or apologizing, he talked back with an attitude. I’ve had my fair share of issues at this location, but never anything like this. I genuinely look forward to my massage at the end of every workout, it’s supposed to be the relaxing part of my visit, and today’s experience was the complete opposite. I come here almost every day, and this kind of treatment is unacceptable, a manager needs to address this immediately.

I normally don't review businesses when I have just 1 bad experience..

Although I was told to not be talking on the phone while on the treadmill as it can disturb people around me.. There was 0 people around me on the treadmill. I have went here for a long time and I think I am finally calling it quits on this gym. I have a black card so it would make no difference if I brought a friend into the gym vs talking on the phone.

I understand maybe not having people on the phone while working out on the bench but to enforce phone policies during not peak hours and while on a treadmill is crazy.

Hope this helps you guys change the way you enforce. I tried talking to the manager, Kaleen, about using discretion when addressing the policy but he did not want to hear it.

I'm a truck driver, I go to a Planet Fitness just about every day in different cities and they all seem to suck!
It's not the equipment or the staff, it's the freakin water temperature at the water fountain! It's rare to go to a pf that has cold water, they must have it set to produce warm water so they force you to buy their drinks or something! (Marketing scheme)

The temperature inside the gyms are hot! Some PF are hotter then others, it was only 1 I went in and it was noticeable cool in there.

The showers are bad in about 1/2 the gyms I go to, the other half the showers are fine. A Half of a shower curtain is not cool, fluctuating water temperatures in the shower is not cool, black worms all over the floor in the shower is not cool.

All this money PF, get it together!

A most honest and comprehensive review

The gym is average as far as crowds. It is a commercial gym not a private or professional gym therefore it makes no sense to expect near-emptiness except for late night-dawn. Its most crowded 4-9 as many gyms tend to be.
The equipment is okay, a lot better than a lot or other planet fitnesses. 4 smith machines, 2 alternative ones. i’ve only ever seen 2-3 at other locations. I will say something is “temporarily out of order” every other week.

Water bottle fountain is unsafe, filter is always yellow or red in status.

Staff are meh. Majority of them never greet or say goodbye except to those they favor. Spend lots of time talking amongst each other while the paper towel dispensers are empty. All of the female staff can’t speak or acknowledge at you at all even when scanning in. The tall curly haired guy and the guy with the dangly earring, short cut hair, and glasses are the nicest and most helpful/welcoming. The guy with the beard and the glasses is the most professional. The manager buff guy with short afro and beard only speaks to those he is buddies with. He is usually not around to help or answer questions, maybe he’s working hard on something else.

Overall a decent gym, workout, go at a time that majority of people are not active and available if you want a desolate gym, don’t expect amazing staff, expect above average commercial grade equipment that breaks every now and again, remember it is a commercial gym.

Unfortunately this gym is extremely busy. Sometimes I see an equipment becoming available but by the time I get there, somebody else snatched it. Other times I see a guy cleaning the bench after finishing with it so I go there, grab 2 dumbbells, turn around and somebody else was about to take the bench.
You need to go there in the morning if you want to use one of the smith machines since they are always taken during the day.

Other than being busy, I like the gym. It is at a good location , clean and all equipments work properly.

I purchased a membership at Planet Fitness primarily for access to the tanning beds, as this was the main reason I chose to join your gym network at all. Before buying my membership, I specifically called and asked whether all locations have stand-up tanning booths. I was told that almost all locations indeed have stand-up tanning, but in reality, I found that in some clubs, they either have red light therapy or only lay-down tanning beds instead.

I personally really dislike lay-down tanning beds for many reasons. From a hygiene standpoint, it’s uncomfortable knowing other people lie directly on the same surface, even if it’s cleaned. It also feels stuffy and makes it harder to breathe inside a closed lay-down bed. Moreover, the tan often comes out uneven because certain parts of the body don’t get the same exposure as in a stand-up booth. There are just many downsides compared to a stand-up tanning booth, which is much more comfortable, feels cleaner, and gives a more even result.

Also, before purchasing the membership, I knew I would be moving soon, so it was important for me to make sure that in my new place of residence, the gym would have exactly the type of tanning booth I needed.

After moving, I tried several Planet Fitness locations over the course of three months, hoping to get at least some tan. I visited the tanning bed regularly, 2-3 times per week, for the maximum allowed time, and used a bronzer. However, during all that time, I was unable to get a tan at all. The only conclusion is that the bulbs in the tanning beds haven’t been replaced in a very long time and are very weak.

I’ve seen your notes saying that if a person doesn’t tan in the sun, they likely won’t tan in a tanning bed either. But the point is, I have very fair skin, and I usually tan quite quickly, although I often burn as well. Previously, I used the tanning beds at another Planet Fitness location just 1-2 times a week for only 4-5 minutes and achieved a very dark tan. Here, however, after three months of regular visits, I can’t even get a tan remotely close to the result I used to achieve after just one visit at your other club.

I’d also like to mention another issue: some of the gym equipment has been broken for quite a long time. The gym is very busy, and even when all machines are working, there aren’t that many available. So when several machines are out of order for an extended period, it raises the question of why no one is addressing this problem.

On the positive side, I’d like to highlight the night shift staff (and it’s thanks to them that I’m not giving this review just one star), as I mostly work out at night or late in the evening. The staff are always polite, friendly, and do their job very well. Another partial plus of this location is that it’s a bit cleaner than many other gyms in the area.

This PF location is ok. Not the best PF I’ve been to, but not the worst. But there are some changes and suggestions that I think they need to do to make it a better experience.

1) Change out the shower curtains more often! It’s GROSS that all of the shower curtains have mold! No excuse for that! This is a multi billion dollar franchise. Why are you cheaping out on plastic curtains?

2. Every PF location I’ve been to has chairs in ALL the changing stalls. For some reason this one doesn’t. There’s only the bench in the accessibility changing stall that everyone fights over. Please put chairs in ALL of the changing stalls so that changing can be more comfortable and safer since the floor will be wet from just getting out of the shower.

3. Change out the shower fixture in the second shower. It can’t even be used cause you can’t turn the water on. So that reduces from three regular showers to just two.

About two weeks ago, I visited this facility for the first time while traveling through the area. Upon checking in at the front desk, an employee wearing an eyepatch asked if I was just there to use the showers. I found the question odd, as I had clearly brought workout gear and planned to exercise. He went on to mention gym policies about bags on the floor and open-toed shoes, which I understood, but the interaction already felt suspicious and condescending.

When I returned to the gym floor, the same employee made a sarcastic comment: “I didn’t think I was going to see you again.” It was unnecessary and made me feel unwelcome.

After my workout and shower, I overheard a heavyset staff member with nearly waist-length dreadlocks speaking to another gym-goer. He made passive-aggressive and disparaging comments about “homeless people,” describing someone that matched my appearance. This was clearly directed at me and was both humiliating and unprofessional. Despite being clean, respectful, and fully compliant with gym rules, I was treated with suspicion and judgment from the moment I walked in.

Unfortunately, based on other reviews, it seems I’m not alone. Many customers have mentioned rude or inappropriate behavior from staff. Management occasionally responds with half-hearted, copy-paste apologies, but nothing ever seems to change.

This was my first visit, and it will definitely be my last. I sincerely hope management does more than offer another fake apology and actually takes steps to train their staff in professionalism and basic respect.

The club manager at this location seems to lack professionalism. I received a significant offer, but now I'm facing issues with my membership cancellation. It appears he spends more time socializing and flirting with members instead of focusing on his responsibilities, such as maintaining cleanliness. Because of this experience, I decided to cancel my membership and won't be renewing it with Planet Fitness in the future.

I was gonna renew my membership, but I remembered that I'm already married, and last time when I wanted to cancel it they made me fill out 3 forms, drive to canada, and provide multiple DNA samples. I’ve had a frustrating experience with billing and customer support at this Planet Fitness location. I added two payment methods to my account, but they only attempted the primary one (which failed), didn’t try the second method, and then charged me a $15 fee.

To make matters worse, when I tried to pay online, the website kept saying my card details had an “invalid date” — even though the information was correct. I made several attempts to fix the issue, but the site just wouldn’t cooperate.

It’s disappointing that I was penalized for a failed payment attempt without Planet Fitness trying the backup method or addressing the technical issues with their platform. I hope management takes note and improves both the payment system and how support handles these situations.

[Update] After posting this review, I was asked to speak to the manager. I did reach out and acknowledged that it was my fault for not maintaining enough funds in my primary debit card. However, I had added a second payment method, and per the agreement, Planet Fitness is supposed to try the alternate method if the first fails — they didn’t.

I politely brought this up, but the manager refused a refund and told me “things don’t work like that,” even though the contract suggests otherwise. Additionally, their website kept showing errors when I tried to fix the issue and make the payment.

I’m disappointed with how this was handled. I tried to resolve it the right way, but the lack of flexibility and support has been frustrating. I hope Planet Fitness takes this feedback seriously.

Absolutely LOVE Planet Fitness! I've gone different times of the day and there's always equipment available to on, even when it's busy. I highly recommend using the massage chair & hydro massage bed. I have chronic back pain and I was able to drop my BP down 40 points because of those 2 devices. It helps alleviate so much of the pain. Just amazing!

I am giving this review based on attitude and behavior of girl that worked at the counter! Her name starts with letter M. And i don't have a full name because when I asked her her name she hid it and walked away like she was mad. She has a glued hair on her forehead and she is extremely short, can't miss her. When I walked in she was already mad and show her behavior to all the guests that walked in. She even yelled at one guy. Everyone noticed and then she walked away like she is mad. I don't usually leave reviews but people need to keep this in mind at least. For me in a gym the bathroom must be functional, it's the least you can ask for because whether at the beginning, middle, or end of your workout, you may feel like going like me yesterday at first I wanted to go to the bathroom, but I'm a person who likes to check if there is toilet paper before using it because I prefer to endure than to suffer without it, and the two bathrooms that were there were out of paper, which is normal. So I went to the front desk to ask for toilet paper, to which surprisingly the girl working that night told me that she was not going to get in the bathroom, that it was going to stay like that for the rest of the night, to go somewhere else because she was not going to do anything to put paper in the men's room. My question is how is it possible that at Planet Fitness in Concord Commons they can change it by putting up signs that a girl is working in the men's room or not letting other members in until they can put paper in the men's room? But not this gym, it was 7 pm or something at night if I remember correctly, you are telling me that for the rest of the 24hrs, there was no toilet paper. I don't know if it's laziness, fear of the men's room (which I've noticed through the reviews happens in the women's room too), or what the problem is but there needs to be a change. I know Planet Fitness doesn't have a good reputation, but I like several locations that do make the effort to make it a better gym. Sadly, this one isn't good, not even in the machines, since the Smith machines are upright, while the other one has many angles for squats. Besides, the abundance of cardio, for me, it's a cardio gym. But at the end of the day, if you can exercise, you can. That's why I never did a review because you can do your routine if you figure out how to do it in any situation. However, not being able to go to the bathroom stopped me, so that's why I'm doing this review so you know, this gym doesn't have the decency to at least provide toilet paper in a gym. Also, I wouldn't have said anything if I had known they wouldn't have it that night, but the impression the girl gave me was that it didn't matter to her. With that said, good luck with your workouts, and at this point, bring your toilet paper just in case. Good day!

I came to this location for the first time, and the lady at the desk tonight 03/29/25 was extremely rude. As I was about to scan in, I didn’t realize there was a separate black card scanner next to her, different from the regular sign-in scanner. When I mistakenly tried to use the wrong one, she started yelling at me. I attempted to explain that I thought all the scanners were for signing in, but she brushed me off and tried to rush me away. Feeling embarrassed, I walked away and went to the restroom for a bit. On my way out, I noticed her pointing at me and saying something to another person, who I assume was a fellow customer, while laughing.

Because of this experience, I will not be returning to this gym location. I’ve never had such a negative encounter at any Planet Fitness I’ve visited.

This morning 3/28/2025 8am I went there for a tanning session when I walked in the girl didn't greet me she said have you been here before. Being way to bossy with me and throwing her weight around. she was eating popcorn and there was butter all over her hands. To the Regional Manager: I understand having policies, but asking someone to actually leave mid workout because of slide-on shoes is rude. The regional manager asked the individual working to tell me to leave due to my shoes although I explained that I typically don’t wear slide on shoes, I just forgot my tennis shoes for today. I understand it’s a “policy,” but there is also decency. I also understand asking me to not wear that type of shoe again; however, because I was asked to stop my workout and leave, this gym lost my membership. If this had been handled differently, I would have continued my membership.

I started visiting this location because of different machines from my original location, but I think it's time to mive on.
Pads on multiple machined need to be replaced.
Multiple cable machines have been unusable for several weeks.
Paper towel dispensers are empty or jammed, on the main floor and hydro area regularly.
Staff is mostly disengaged and/or indifferent, it's rare to be acknowledged coming or going, used
paper towels on machines or on floor, see above comment, some users are slobs but Staff should be policing the area regardless.

The people who work there are very distracted, I scanned the code to use the massage chair and both were in use so I told the person that I would sit in front of the counter while the chair was free and I was waiting for more than 10 minutes and another person came to scan and the guy who was at the counter gave him the next shift knowing that I was waiting.You should put something more automated so that this type of thing doesn't happen, like a message when you can use the chair without dealing with the people who are at the counter.

Cold shower. No sign. I’m shivering because i got in a cold shower telling the girl that there is no sign. She said they put in a work order a week ago. I say two thumbs down. Black member who has been to a hundred clubs - worst experience yet. I tried to complain on the Planet Fitness app- good luck finding a way!

This Planet Fitness is so nice and clean. The equipment is new and fun to use. Cameron was so patient and professional with me for the first time visiting this location. I will be coming back for sure. Cameron made me feel at home. Planet Fitness is so lucky to have him and his professionalism and knowledge is impressive. I travel for work. I just got a membership at PF. Come to find out this gym (at least the Charlotte locations) is only useful to me 4 days a week. I have to be at work at 6. PF is one of the largest gym chains in the country. Even smaller gyms have 24/7 access. I paid $15 a month at my old gym and had 24/7 access. And more options for weight training, to be honest. But they dont have a gym here. I'm paying $30 a month for a PF membership just to find out I can only use it 4 days a week. A gym this size should have a door scanner outside for members to get in.

My one star review is now 5 stars. I would give 6 if I could. I’m impressed after the renovation. It’s now super luxurious and Orlando is very helpful and kind. Highly recommend. Not to mention the new tanning beds and massage chairs are now state of the art! This location has made a total turn around looking forward to spending a lot of time here!

Omg! The renovated gym is so top tier! The employees energy match the new gym! I don’t know the (dark skin skin) guy name who use to have dreads and now has the low cut fade, he needs a freaking raise his customer service, interaction with the members are absolutely the BEST! I hope he’s a manager cause he sure has the personality to keep members happy! He walked around showing me the renovation with an energy that made me think he knew me personally! He also introduced me to the hydro massager and all my year (5 years being a member) None of the other employees introduced me to, showed me how to get it started and ask how I was doing! Geesh you guys did your big one with this! Thanks for applying my feedback from previous reviews to make this a better gym!!

Poor planning. This location has been closed for over the expected time they originally stated. I understand delays, but expecting your members to use the other 2 locations that are nowhere near the University area is ridiculous. I’m a black card member and have the ability to go to any location, so I am mostly speaking for those who can’t. Pineville? Are you kidding?

Signed up at this location as a black card member where you’re supposed to be able to cancel at any time. Tried canceling on 4 separate occasions I came to this location which is no longer near by. The first time being last November. Here I am 8 months later and all they can tell me is it’s “already cancelled yet I’m still being charged and they refuse refunds. When are they going to open back up???It's been over 8 wks now. This is literally my favorite location and sucks having to go to one's near by. I miss my normal PF location. I loved the place as it was, I can only imagine how much more incredible it will loo. The staff at this location are very friendly, helpful and keep the facility very clean. Neither location is close to me. I now have to drive 20 to 30 minutes just to get to new PF location. Why not make all locations accessible for the university city clients? This is such an inconvenience. How long before the location reopens?

The main problem I have with them is in March I wanted to cancel my membership and not pay for annual fee but they did not help me with that and told me I get enrolled 10 days before so my annual payment cannot be stopped, and a month later they posted that they will be closed for couple months and now all other locations are far away so I had to join other gym. Because of you guys not informing customers earlier and not letting them cancel, i had to pay annual member ship to you and now since I have to go and join different gym I again have to pay annual member ship to them.
I will probably never come back here and not recommend this place to anyone

I stood at the counter for about five minutes waiting to be greeted by two employees who were sitting on the counter and looking at their Cell phones. Finally I was able to get their attention . A Tall ball guy who said his name was Robert offered me little or no information pertaining to how to become a member he acted as though I had interrupted his cell phone interaction. If this is how they treat pertentail Members then I can imagine how he treats the Members. He was very unprofessional. Because of him I would not join this location.

I love working out at Planet Fitness, this location specifically. The staff is friendly and they're opened 24/7 so you can't beat that. There's no excuse not to workout. They are even opened on holidays but close early. Just like any gym, it will be busiest between 5-9, but you can download the app to check how busy it is before going if that is a concern for you.

I love getting a massage after my workout. They actually have all new chairs and hydro beds.
