It's a clean gym. If you go between 8a and 10a it's pretty empty. If you are from out of town you need to be a black card Member or you will have to pay $5 to use the gym. No cash by the way. Staff are friendly. The gym is on the lower level, not the street outside door.

My husband and I are visiting Charlotte for a work trip and during a break we decided to stop by this Planet Fitness location to get a quick workout in. We followed the directions and saw the sign but once we arrived we got a little confused about how to actually enter the gym.

I called the number listed not really expecting anyone to answer right away but to my surprise Chris picked up immediately. He was incredibly kind, welcoming and helpful. He guided us step by step on how to find the entrance all the way down to the basement level and even stayed on the line until we were in the lobby.

The gym itself was clean, well laid out and had that classic Planet Fitness vibe we know and love. But what really stood out was Chris’s attitude ! His friendliness made our experience at a different location feel just as comfortable as home. It’s a small thing but when you’re traveling and walking into a new place that kind of positive energy makes all the difference.

Nice Planet Fitness in Uptown Charlotte. On street parking after 6 PM WAS free in Uptown (see update below), so parking is now an issue. It's also not as crowded as other PF's after 6:30 so you can easily get your workout in. They have a nice black card area too with a hybrid tanning machine (it uses red light), very nice massage chairs, and hydromassage beds.

Sept 2024 update: on street parking is NOT free in uptown until 10 PM now. Sadly, I won't be going here anymore.

Planet fitness took money out of my account without my authorization. I had my monthly fee set up to come out of a specific account. When I went into the gym the customer service representative informed me I could add my debit card (linked to a different account) on my account to make it easier to purchase items. They debited money out of the wrong account and refused to give me a refund.

If you are looking for a gym in the uptown area, Planet Fitness is the way to go, it’s in the lower level of the U.S. Bank building. At first I felt hesitant to work out here due to the gym being in the basement, but honestly you can’t feel that you are in the basement. The gym is modern with great equipment. It’s usually never crowded, has showers and lockers. Opt in for the black card and for only $25 a month you can use any Planet Fitness in the country!

I typically go to other PFs or my apartment gym, so I have only been a few times. The entry into building is now easier than in the past. The staff was very friendly and the place was definitely clean. The hydrotherapy massager worked great. I would return next time I am Uptown.
My only 'complaint' is that there could be a little more open space for mats in the Abs area. It wasn't busy but I did feel like I was in the way, either in front of a door or in front of equipment. Not sure if that is any way around that with the layout.

I email Planet Fitness on 04/21/2024 regarding a billing issue. As of today, I have received a response. THIS IS MY SECOND TIME DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE I signed a contract on 11/15/2020 for $20.05 (19.99 w/out tax) for the Black Card Membership. This contract states that my membership fees NEVER change. But somehow it did. Another contract was placed on my account on 04/21/2022 FOR THE SAME MEMBERSHIP! I NEVER SIGNED OR AGREED TO THIS CONTRACT. NOW MY MEMBERSHIP FEES ARE $25.41 ($24.99 W/OUT TAX). I reached out to Planet Fitness regarding these issues on 03/15/2023 for the same issues. THE RATE WAS ADJUSTED BUT NOW I AM HAVING TO DEAL WITH THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN! WHY? WHY WOULD ANYONE PAY MORE FOR THE SAME EXACT MEMBERSHIP! IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RESOLVED WITHOUT ME HAVING TO CONTINUE TO CONTACT PLANET FITNESS REGARDING MY RATE. MY RATE IS $19.99 BASED ON THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT.

It's got everything you'd expect from PF, except only a single Fly machine which is a little odd. Otherwise great. Getting INSIDE is a hassle at first, as there are two doors that don't lead directly inside, as it's underground. Gotta call and ask for the door to be unlocked... then you need to get an app setup to let yourself in. These are not flaws, just features.

Very Small location, located in the basement of a building. No free parking, no parking validation, and depending on the security guard in the building you may have to walk around the entire block to get to your car. Who wants to do that in the winter or after a leg day.

There's no way I'm hell these reviews are real. Seems like somebody is getting friends to leave them or something. I go here often b/c its closest to me and its filthy. It's always dirty. The floors have lint/dirtballs everywhere and under damn near everything and all around the equipment. Seventy five degrees - are you kidding me? The air is so still in the machine weight lifting area that I question whether your sweat is coming from my body or condensation from how humid this place usually feels. A gross lack of fans and air circulation paired with high temps means if I am seriously trying to get a good lifting session in, I am going to sweat before I have even gotten started. This gym is otherwise incredibly clean, the staff is ultra friendly, and the members are courteous and polite. But as an uptown resident who walks here in the summer heat - I find working out here abysmally miserable.

People are being to nice. The parking here is horrible. It's worth the extra 5 even 10 minutes to drive to another location. The owner not taking responsibility for parking is a huge disconnect. Should have considered members when picking location. I've been 20+ planet fitness locations and this was the worst.

I loved everything about the facility. My complaints have nothing to do with Planet Fitness. The location is awful when it comes to parking, if you're new to the area. And I couldn't figure out how to enter the building. The security person in the office building lobby was off putting, and extremely rude. Has been good and close to church. Rarely go except Sunday. Today I tried for 30mins on treadmill. At 12 mins gave up. Guy behind me loud on his phone. Told Guy at front and said he saw. He turned on music but could still hear him at water fountain. Never went over. I gave up and left.

Signs are posted but not enforced. Could care less about people's business and always leave my phone in car. This is my time.

This is a clean, well equipped facility.

Unfortunately, though they do not have any on-site parking, nor do they validate parking.

So unless you're here at really odd hours and snag some of the limited streetside spots, or you happen to live or work nearby, you may be paying as much as $10-20 just to park. This makes it a much less appealing location.

I visited town for the week for work. Most gyms in the area were boutique gyms that only offered classes. I did the free day pass on my first day but then ended up signing up for the month commitment free. The month costs less than a single day pass at most gym. While there are no free standing barbells, there are a handful of smith racks, dumbbells up to 75 lbs, as well as rowers, treads l, and other cardio equipment. It’s enough to get a heavy lift in and definitely a great workout if you get creative. The staff was all very friendly. The members were very nice as well. It was spacious and never seemed too crowded. If it is your first time here, keep in mind that it is located on the lower level of the building address listed on google.
