Here's a follow up. So following the renovations, ALL of the equipment from both the 15-minute abs area and the 30 minute express room is GONE. And even though they did an enormous amount of equipment moving they did NOT bother to clean as the very long and disgusting black dust snakes are still crawling across the ductwork.

For the second time in 2 days, a staff member was outside dusting the window sills. Meanwhile inside, members have to contend with an accumulation of soot all along the air duct work that looks like snakes crawling across them.

It's ok. They shut down for a few days and I went to 2 other PF's in the area. As I suspected, Garner, doesn't oil their treadmills and it's tougher on the knees compared to Holly Springs where you can tell they take very good care of their machines. I would also say they don't oil up their other machines as well.

Staff is great. Very nice. I don't know if I'll be returning to Garner PF knowing that I use the treadmills heavily and there is a large difference of pain on my knee because of the oil on the machines.

This planet fitness use to be good when they had the one manager who had the service dog. Ever since she left the gym has gone down hill. The workers all stand at the desk, the paper towels are all out, the bathrooms are a mess, the treadmills are half broken, and there is never a manager in site.

Udate....I sent the owner's an email just how they directed in the response under my review a week ago and gotten no response. If I were to guess why it's because they are trying to figure out who i am. The email responded you cam go in person. But see.the way things work now a days is if you speak to someone in person especially in regards to their establishment, more than often they dont do anything. But if you leave a paper trail to the business then the people above with more power see the issues being brought up and make.sure the try to resolve instead of sweeping under rug.

The gym definitely has its perks. Having about 8 smith machines and 4 of them having the old school skinny bars is a huge plus in my eyes. The reason why I give it a 3 is due to the fact that the atmosphere changes once 7pm hits from my many times going. From staff not looking professional in attire. To kids working out with shirts off, to bathrooms being disgusting, to non members just being let in, to finally seeing underage kids in there working out. I think if management were to make pop up visits at night they were be ashamed how its represented.
I go to many places and sometimes the atmosphere takes away from a pleasurable experience. I wish they had more of a handle on things at night time. Its worth driving 20 min further and going to raleigh or cary for these reasons.

This gym is very clean and they have every kind of special exercise equipment, as well as plenty of extras of the commonly used equipment such as treadmills, exercise bikes, elecipticals, etc. The price is the lowest of any gym around, plus I can bring a guest every visit. This really is the best deal around. They have state of the art equipment and technology. The massage chairs, hydromassage beds, tanning beds, and personal training are a great bonus feature. The staff is also very friendly. I love that they are open 24/7 because my schedule varies frequently and I am now guaranteed to be able to get a workout whenever is convenient for me. I highly recommend this fitness club for people of all ages.

I can't say enough nice things about this place. We consider the staff our adopted kids! David, Christian, Leah, Kyle, 🥝 Kiwi, Blake, Marilyn, etc. are just a joy to talk to. The owner of this place has treated us, although we ARE members since 2017 but homeless since my stroke, like family. He's not just in this to make money and run a business. The good: This Planet Fitness is open 24/7 and the staff is consistently friendly and professional—shoutout to them for being the highlight. They also offer tanning beds and the Total Body Enhancement red light therapy, which would be great… if they actually worked.

Now for the not-so-great (aka the part they really need to hear):
I travel all the way from Clayton just to use this location—or Smithfield—because for some reason, Planet Fitness still hasn’t caught on that Clayton (27520) is booming and no longer some tiny blip on the map. The fact that there’s no location in such a rapidly growing area feels like a massive oversight.

Back to this location: The tanning and red light therapy beds are in sad shape. At least half of the bulbs in the Total Body Enhancement machine are completely dead, and the rest are barely flickering. The vibration system? Broken—and has stayed broken, even after “repairs.” I’m not convinced anyone certified actually looked at it. If I’m paying extra for these features, they should function. Otherwise, don’t offer them. Charging for broken or poorly maintained amenities is just bad business.

The locker rooms? Small, outdated, and smell like they’ve given up. The showers and toilets are visibly unclean, and they’re missing basic things like privacy in the showers or mirrors in larger stalls. And don’t expect private dressing rooms or those nice floor-to-ceiling mirrors—this location skipped all of that.

The gym floor itself is cramped with not enough equipment, especially during busy hours. Good luck finding an available tricep or bicep machine. And if you’re someone with knee issues, forget about a smooth cardio experience—they replaced the quality Life Fitness ellipticals with cheap Matrix arc trainers that just don’t cut it.

Bottom line: Friendly staff can only do so much when the facility itself is neglected. If Planet Fitness wants to keep members loyal—and attract new ones in fast-growing areas—they’ve got to maintain their equipment, clean their spaces, and stop charging for services that are clearly out of service.

Planet fitness first of all is clean and a place where very friendly staff to greet you and help. The members are friendly also. It’s the greatest choice I made at 65 years of age that I could’ve made to get my body and in shape. There are plenty of exercise machines, weights, etc. etc to work with. A very good workout early Sunday morning, the place was not at all busy. I had no problem finding a locker and changing into workout clothes then doing the Thirty Minute Circuit and not being disturbed. Plenty of room in that area so I could not have to work around people.

After, the showers were good. I like the "double" stall where I could change and then get right into the shower. Hot water worked well enough but the pressure is low. The shower seemed clean enough to me though I think both curtains need to be replaced.

Overall, a good spot and I was glad to stop here.

I am an older gentleman with a lifetime of working out in many different gyms around the country. I have been a member of Planet Fitness, in the Garner, NC location, for several years. Yes, I prefer PF over all the other gyms I have used for the many reasons you advertise. You are basically available to me 24/7. Your equipment is vast and always in service. There are plenty of machines/stations, so I am not forced to wait for an opening. The facilities are nice and clean, but they are also enjoyable. Thank you for all the TVs!! The staff is always helpful and courteous. And finally, I cannot believe how inexpensive all this is. I have the Black Card membership, and the extra perks (too many to list) are worth the additional cost, which is still minimal.

Been going to this PF for a couple years now. The only real complaint I have is the bathrooms. I’m under the impression that they don’t get cleaned ever. There is buildup all over the tile which is turning into another life form. It stinks constantly which stems from being dirty at all times. Needs a regular deep clean.

Boondocker. We use the showers when we travel. Skip this place. The showers are filthy. The whole shower/ bathroom area reeks of mold. Walls/floors are covered in old soap, grime and hair. The grout is full of what I can only assume is mold. There is clearly no cleaning to be had here. Do yourself a favor go to the next town.

It seems apparent to me that the showers here do not get cleaned.

The floor of the shower is covered in some sort of slime, the shower caddies are congealed with what appears to be month's old soap scum, the grout has black crust all over it which I can only assume is some sort of mold, and all of this is accentuated by a powerful rotten smell.

Water was plenty hot and consistent in temperature. The rest of the gym seems fine.

The Customer service from Trinity was amazing she was very professional and informative on the services provided. I was encouraged while speaking with her to stay active not just to keep an active membership. I haven't been to a gym in probably 5 years, since COVID. We have gym equipment at home, but I decided to give PF a try, because I remembered they had this arm bicycle machine that I used at PT for my shoulder. I have very bad arthritis in my shoulder, and this helps with mobility. Also, because I haven't been to the gym in so long and because of shoulder surgery, etc., I have lost a lot of strength. I started out with the lat pulldown. I couldn't even lift 12.5 lbs, I had to go to 5 lbs., which was the lightest weight. As I grabbed the bar, I lost my balance and fell to the floor on my butt. A guy also using the equipment helped me to get up. I share this story, because all over PF, they have signs on the equipment that say, "Judgment-free zone." I felt foolish and old, but I looked at the sign and thought no one should "judge me." We're all at different places in our fitness, but we're all there to become more physically fit.

In addition, the gym is clean, and the staff are very helpful. I would definitely recommend PF if you're looking for a gym.

Great simple gym. Tons of cardio equipment. Super simple to sign up and cancel via their app. Imho just use the app to sign up - they may ask for an ID and photo at some point (usually in the first few visits). I personally take my wallet anyway so even tho I wasn’t expecting it it was fine. I’ve canceled and restarted as needed (I usually use a diff gym during summers) and never had an issue with difficulties canceling. Anyway, imo it’s worth the extra for the black card cos the massage chairs are great. They got cleaning sprays and paper towels all over the place, always feels clean and comfortable in this gym and appreciate that the equipment isn’t super close to each other/crowded in.

I hear a lot of people having trouble with billing and I think I have a solution, at my Bank of America you can pay $30 and have whomever is charging you stopped from doing so forever and also you can always change your debit card also so they have no access to your money any more, hope this helps in these end times scenarios where business scam people.

I tried to cancel my membership with this gym numerous times throughout the year after realizing I just wasn't into going that much. Not only was I denied the ability to cancel without being charged an additional $58 fee (for what?? who knows), I also had to pay a $49 annual fee on top of being charged $25 a month to not use the gym. Started coming here the last few weeks. I always come here with my daughter. They scan me in on the app then they scan her guest account on the app and we go in. But today after scanning her in the guy said she needed to have her I.D. and wouldn't let her in. I've been coming to this location for over three years now. I love the environment, and I've found the staff to be helpful and nice, generally speaking. The only reason didn't give five stars is because of the women's locker room. Housekeeping appears to be non-existent. Moldy shower walls, moldy shower curtains and dirty dusty floors. I was told the bathrooms get deep cleaned once a week, but that really doesn't seem to be the case.

I love most of the p-fits I visit,but Garner is THE WORST. The staff is rude, and they let bums sleep in their massage chairs all night. I've tried to report them but never got through to anyone. Again love their other gyms but I highly recommend avoiding this one!!

Planet Fitness is a great gym choice! The membership fees are very affordable, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is welcoming, with regular people focused on their fitness goals. I love that the gym is open 24/7, making it convenient to work out anytime. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, and the equipment is in excellent condition. Highly recommend!
