I drove 35 minutes to come to this Planet Fitness the parking lot got a few people in it but the Planet Fitness is empty and the doors are locked online that says to Planet Fitness is open which in fact it is not doesn't say why they're closed I pay for a membership here and I have for the past year and a half I even have the app on my phone it would be extremely nice if they close they would actually notify all the members instead of having people drive 35 minutes away to be disappointed wasting their time in their gas not very business like if you ask me. If we have the app to check in and they have the ability to notify the members that they are going to be closed for whatever reason very poor in my opinion

Avoid this Planet Fitness location!
There’s a revolving door of employees, and the gym itself is often dirty. Paper towels are rarely restocked — only the morning employee used to keep up with it, but now he’s gone, and the new staff doesn’t seem to care.

Today I got a call from Valerie, who claimed my payment card couldn’t stay on file and that they needed my bank account number and routing number — over the phone. When I said I wasn’t comfortable giving that out, she hung up and cancelled my membership immediately. When I checked the app, my account was already deactivated.

I called back to speak with a manager and was told that Beth, the manager, can only be reached by filing a formal complaint. The assistant manager tried to help, but said she couldn’t reinstate my account without that same banking information. When I called another Planet Fitness to verify, they said they are not allowed to cancel memberships or request billing info over the phone.

This location is calling it a “pilot program,” but it feels like a scam. I do not recommend this gym — poor cleanliness, unprofessional staff, and shady billing practices.

I cancelled my membership back in January after not going for over a year and I found out I’m still being billed. As soon as I issued a stop payment I started getting collection calls. Don’t trust this place. It’s not worth it. I had a duplicate membership I cancelled as well and they made me sign a paper relinquishing my right to legal action and they laughed at me after I signed it. Do not trust this company.

I I am writing this review to recognize the manager at the new Hope location of planet fitness her name is Valerie. This person is a great choice for a manager in any business. She will handle any concerns or questions immediately upon notification of that concern or question. I am totally amazed with her professionalism. Most companies read it and really don’t even respond. She is on point. The location is always clean and inviting the team is professional. I feel like people don’t give positive recognition enough, and I wanted to say that this person first of all and the location is a great choice for a gym.

Crowds on the weekdays make this place almost impossible to workout. Additionally the amount of cardio equipment is insane. They could easily lose some of the treadmills for more weights which would make the crowds more spaced out.

I visited this gym on 5-16 about 4am!! I witnessed a front desk rep attack a customer because the profile didn’t match and ask her to leave the young lady grab her things and left out the gym! The planet fitness working was yelling and calling her out her name stating she can’t come to any planet fitness gym! She pulled her phone out started recording the lady walking to her car and still continued to yell at the young woman as she walking to her car! Once the lady tried to leave the planet fitness working pushed her and they began to fight! Ive never experienced anything like this at this location everyone is usually nice but this young lady is ever rude

I love working out here. The facility is very clean. I would say the only con is that sometimes it’s hard to find an open machine or an open spot to lay out a mat/bench. But for the most part, everything is great. The staff are super nice and inviting. I would say it’s a little off putting at times when there are several workers at the front having a conversation and they will make eye contact but will not speak. But shoutout to the black gentleman who cleans the bathrooms. He is super friendly and I look forward to seeing him each night I go.

I was shocked to see that they converted the 30-minute whole body workout room!! I used to use it every time I came in. I still get a good workout, but I have to wander the facility to find the machines I used to enjoy. I miss the continuous flow of my organized workout. :(

Gastonia, NC Location is by far the best PF i have been to thus far. Clean, Quiet, Friendly staff. Locker rooms clean, showers clean, bathroom clean, staff constantly checking on paper towel refills/spray refills. and the one thing that has stood out versus the other 7 PF’s ive been to is that the facility is HUGE and they have ALOT of equipment so you wont run into an issue of waiting for someone to get down. multiple of the same machines. Very great Location!

It's Planet Fitness it's not complicated lol so that's its value is simplicity. Most people go for the tanning area massages and treadmills. Over the year they have revamped the area to include a few more machines which are placed near the back where the stretching area was located. 6 additional machines and it's a nice addition I'm 6'2" so two of them I'm kinda limited but overall you can get a good workout from cardio to free or plate-loaded machines. Good upgrades affordable prices 👌

Location is great in most regards! However, I came in this morning to a closed sign. There was no real snow in the area. I guess these closures may come from higher up. However, I’ve seen this happen before and don’t appreciate it. Roads were fine for employees to travel. A simple email to explain closure would be appreciated. Luckily I have access to another gym near my work where they did have some snow. They were open!

The location on the east end of Gastonia is always friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I wish they could run the west end location or teach that location client services. I want to use and bring others to use the west end location because of the red light therapy. I instead avoid that location even though it is closer to my home because of the unwelcoming service you get greeted with from that location. On the East side I leave happy and zen. On the West side I leave angry and disillusioned.

I like many others had an annual fee kinda snuck in on me. It's supposed to be free if you're on disability income. However they try and push you to buy a more expensive training package. They caused my bank account to overdraft. Then tried to charge a credit card that I never shared with them. Also more importantly. My minor aged niece had to see a fully erect male in the ladies locker room. The man got arrested. However they refused to refund anyone that wanted to end their membership. Also they will not show you how the machines work. Unless you buy a special trainer package I don't recommend this place. There are plenty of other gyms. Save yourself the trouble and join a more honest and safer gym.
