The gym is nice, like working out there in kernersville, I love Ms Kathy, wish she was there full time, she has a great personality, super friendly, so great having her there!!!
I must say though, without mentioning any names, there is a young lady there who flirts with men who are actually in a relationship and is very frustrating!

I’m a truck driver and parking is my first concern, this location is tricky for parking a big truck, I parked in the back like I usually do in loading dock area but this is a very tight location and you’ll probably have to back out. Clean location, hot shower, not cold water fountain which is annoying, all equipment up to par and overall a good location.

First time visit to Planet Fitness of Kernersville, was very pleased with the Experience. The associate running the front desk was very friendly and helpful. I did not catch his name, but I would really like to give him a BIG Thumbs up! Tanning bed bulbs were great. My hometown Planet Fitness should follow suit and get our tanning bed bulbs up to par. I would rather brag about my hometown, Planet Fitness, rather then an out of town PF, can’t deny the facts.If anyone with authority is keeping up with google reviews, please give my hometown PF the same respect as the equipment receives in larger cities. Our money fed into your establishment is just as, if not more, important than any other PF across the US. It is sad our members have to drive across counties to experience what PF is all about with the state of art equipment, not just the tanning beds, hydro massagers, Gym/Workout equipment, locker rooms, check in processes, you name it PF of W*i***s***o is behind in the times.
PS If you are looking for a new employee to travel between PF’s and “shop” different locations, I am definitely your next new hire.

This location is pretty good fairly clean and most of the time all machines work and the crowds are not huge all the time. My one big complaint is the 30 minute work out room is constantly full of people using cellphones at the machines and folks using only a certain machine over and over again and not using the room as intended! It was so bad two weeks ago that I went to the front desk to get some assistants in maybe telling people to move on. However I was simple told that they were busy that night and that people use those machines when the ones on the floor are taken and didn’t do anything about it! Since then I’ve either went to the clemmons location to use this room which they make sure no ones not using it for just one machine or I simple ask them to move myself which is super uncomfortable and confrontational to say the least. Other than this it’s a great gym

There's a giant sign that says 245 on the outside of the gym, as in, they're open 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. This is blatantly untrue. This is false advertising. They open at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, they close at midnight on Friday. The only days they're open 24 hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. They're only open 24 / 3. Half of the town has a membership that they don't use. They could afford to hire night time staff for the extra four days, but they don't, because they don't respect their customers, or their employees for that matter. Sad!

This is a good location and with a few updates / additions, I think it could be great. (1) I had to wait quite a while for an adjustable bench while I was working out. Three adjustable benches is not quite enough for the volume of folks at this gym. I'd recommend spending the $300 to add a fourth. (2) I would recommend a refresh of the tricep rope attachments. While functional, they looked very worn to me. I will note that one of them did look new, but it was in use. (3) I have been to other PF locations that have small lockers outside of the locker rooms that do not require patrons to bring their own locks. I would recommend installing one of these units, if your budget for capital expenditures will allow for it. I was in high school the last time I had a personal lock that I carried around with me. In 2025, I would think that the gym could provide a self-locking locker.

Apart from these three items, I had a great experience and will likely return to this location in the future. To my knowledge, all of the equipment appeared to be functioning, and the gym was clean. I've heard to some PF locations are adding squat racks. I only saw smith machines at this location, but am hopeful they will eventually arrive here, too.

I gave it a 3 for several reasons. First I have been coming to this gym for over 2 years now. Jaylin the trainer on site, by the way is great, have been training me from day one. I work an 8-5 job so my time to come in is after work. It worked out great until now. They changed his schedule for build your programs around that time. That is the busiest time of the day when he is training people. You interfered with my workout for folks that won’t probably last but maybe a month. Second there needs to be another gym built in Kernersville because it is so frustrating trying to work out on some days. There is soo many people there it is ridiculous and frustrating. If you take out some of those elliptical and bike machines that nobody hardly uses then you can have room for more weight machines. Please build another Planet fitness somewhere in Kernersville and leave Jaylin’s schedule alone. He is the only reason I continue to come there.

I love this gym but really wish they would regulate the 30 min workout space a bit better to keep the people that camp out on machines for several minutes and do not follow the intended flow of the room from using the space incorrectly. Many people come in and use this space as just an extension to the regular workout area. This happens a lot between 630 and 730 which makes it a real challenge for someone who has limited time and came for the purpose of the 30 minute room.

Update

I did actually report this to the person at the front desk and they did absolutely nothing about it. He actually stated that the policy is that someone is allowed to camp out on a machine if they want to but if someone in the 30 minute room asks them to move onto another machine because it’s been more than one cycle then by policy they must move but only when they are asked to move. Essentially, he placed the burden back on to me. Making it my job to regulate the 30 minute room and confront those who are camped out on the machines. I do not come to the gym At 6 o’clock in the morning so that I can have confrontations with other gym members.
Perhaps I misunderstood the policy and the purpose of the 30 minute room. If in fact, the members are allowed to camp on machines for any amount of time they wish then what is the point of having a 30 minute room?

I have never worked out at a planet fitness. I did join the gym. They said you can stop anytime. I joined another gym the same day. That I liked more. When I tried to cancel membership they said you have to come in in person. When I went in. They told me I had until whatever the date was and couldn’t get a refund. So try it out and maybe I’ll like it more and want to come there instead. Time went by. Actually a few months. And I forgot all about the membership. Until I seen on my statement. I called again. They said come in. I went in. They said call this number. I called that number. They said go to your home Gym. I called they said call the number. I got tired of the bs. I completely shut down that form of payment. Now they somehow got my new one. And want $300 for back charges to a gym I tried to cancel the very 1st day. And have went back and forth with them for a year now. Don’t fall for the BS. You cannot cancel. They won’t let you out. The guy on the phone at kville gym said call your bank and dispute charges and stop payment. Or pay in full and then we can cancel. Or call pf financial department again. Circles on circles.

So in 3 weeks there has been 6-7 that I know off attempts to take more money out of my account. What the heck people. Figure your company out. It should not be a game of hot potato to cancel a membership. I go in they say I need to call. I call they say I need to come I in I wrote a review the “owner” says contact whoever that email is.which I do. The email says go in the gym to do in Person or certified mail. The gym says can’t be done because there’s a balance. Just stop. I’ve never worked out in the freaking gym. Cancel. It’s certified the “owner” is the one that replied. So you received the message. I don’t want your membership. Stop trying to charge me.

One small thing about this location since it's winter is they took away the coat hook board going into the locker room so you'll either need to use a locker or carry it with you while working out.

The Kernersville Planet Fitness is kept very clean, thanks to Gi Gi and others that we constantly see cleaning. Sanitation stations are every few feet throughout the facility and are kept well stocked. We have been members for several years and are just upgrading to black card status. I like everything about my Planet Fitness member experience. I'm 67 and have been working out since I was 15. I've belonged to many different fitness clubs and have never found one better than Planet Fitness. The weigh machines are user friendly, smooth, and focused. The many variations of cardio equipment enable a cardio workout using different muscle groups while keeping the workout interesting. The many video entertainment screens are well positioned and offer good variety. Free weights are abundant in conjunction with appropriate benches. Everything is very well maintained. But best of all is the Planet Fitness Express 30 minute workout. As I have aged I find it harder to consistently work all my muscle groups. The PF Express works my entire body in addition to cardio (the ultimate superset). Finally the price is great. The absolute best value I've ever encountered on a fitness club.

I can only work out at night. They often only have one person here at night, even though there are at least 25 other people working out. I can't turn the hydrobed on by myself, and there is no way to call an employee to the front. The showers are also so gummed up with bacteria and sludge that they don't drain and create a little pool of yuck. My shower sandals are about an inch high and used to keep me from getting athlete's foot, but not anymore. I've talked to them about it no less than 4 times. They have the tools and time to fix it. They won't. The machines are kept in working order and the toilets are clean.

Member here for just over 10 years. In a way 3 stars is generous but the selection of machines to work out on is among the best. And the facility is clean as Gigi works the time she is there to see to it. 2 primary and unforgivable negatives:
1. Some do not clean the machines after use and either the staff did not explain that to them when they joined, or the staff stands behind the counter without enforcing.
2. Some text between reps tying up the machine(s) which prevents others from using. As to the explanation, see item 1.
Reply to response from owner: Your suggestion is ridiculous! Why don't YOU do something about the issues instead of deflecting to the member! No member should have to be a snitch or tattle tale to achieve an acceptable environment. Questions:

Outstanding facility. Very clean, spacious. There were tables with chairs and electrical outlets for charging devices and doing "office work." Huge locker room. Totally clean showers, with attached dressing area and hooks just outside [I hate having to track water across the floor just to dry off and get dressed in a separate dressing area. Why do so many stores do this?]

Friendly attendant, got me hooked up quickly with a hydto massage. I guess these are newer machines, best hydro massage I've had, bar none.

This is, IMHO, what a PF should be. I am all over the country, I have been in more than 100 different facilities, and today, this is my top facility. Should be used as a model for others to follow.

Planet fitness is a great place for the average Joe and Jane to work out. The machines are new. The facility is clean. The staff are helpful. Everything is laid out in a logical progression so working a particular area of your body is easy to do. If you buy the Black card you get to use the massage chairs, and tanning beds. There are also breaks on things like drinks. To top it all off you can use the tanning beds. Great deal for $25 a month.

I've been a black card member of this location for a month, consistently going every day. Unfortunately, I've been disappointed with the quality of equipment and overall attitude/atmosphere. In terms of quality, the treadmills have loose belts, and members often don't clean their equipment. Interactions with team members are hit or miss. They're either extra friendly, or appear as though they'd rather be anywhere else. During a cardio session yesterday, the team members hit the lunk alarm 4 times consecutively over noise that was very minimal and expected in a gym where people are genuinely trying. Anyone who has experience at the gym should know, when there is noise from plates, they are pressing for a heavier set of weights. This was not only obnoxious, but it has become obvious that this is not a gym for anyone other than beginners. I will not be returning to this gym, as spamming the lunk alarm while people are working out is demotivating and childish. Considering the recent controversy with this gym and their policies on who is allowed in what bathroom, I find this to be just absolutely not worth the money. Additionally, you must sign-in with your phone. They no longer provide cards nor tags for your key chain. If I go to the gym, I would prefer the ability to leave my phone in the car. Overall disappointed in the quality of this gym and its team members.

Gym is a little busy but I can usually can get on the equipment I need. Staff is friendly and helpful. I did however notice that the men's locker room counter tops are always dirty and although floors are clean and the bathroom is cleaned up nice. You have to sit on them to put on your sneakers and put your workout gear on them. It would be nice if they were cleaned more often. And the walls could use a good cleaning also.
