The facility itself is fine but if I could give this place less than a star I for their customer service I would. I downgraded my account recently from the Black Membership to the standard membership. A day later my bank account was debited $50. and my app stated my account was blocked for an outstanding balance. I called Planet Fitness and explained the situation. I was transferred to their collections department and then back to customer service only to be told I had to come in the gym to resolve the matter. Meanwhile, I took a survey regarding my customer service experience and of course I gave a negative review. Rueben Kelly immediately sent me an email apologizing and confirming I would have to come to my local gym to resolve. When I came into the gym I showed the representative my bank statement where my account was debited twice for $25. He offered me a refund but said I would have to come back in the morning when the manager was in. I told him I didn't want a refund just the payments actually applied to my account. I had owed $25 from last under my old plan when I skipped a payment (government employee impacted by shutdown) and a $15 which would be $40 and they already took $50, so they owed be $10. The representative wrote my information down in a book explaining the situation and told me a manager would call me back, no one did. I called and spoke with Rueben Kelly (supposedly a manager.) He immediately tried to poor shame me for skipping the payment to begin with and started going back over my account history to see if there skipped payments in the past(there weren't any.) He then went on to see of I had opened another Planet Fitness account recently (I hadn't because, why would I?) He then told me I had changed bank accounts recently, again no. I told him instead finding reasons to blame the customer perhaps he should contact IT support because it could be a technical issue associated with my recent downgrade. He agreed and when he called me back he was even more contentious saying I owed them and additional $30 to remove the block on my account. He also said HE had been more than patient with ME. I almost fell out of my chair. I asked to speak with his supervisor and of course she wasn't available. I asked for her name at first he refused then said her name was "Georgia" and that was "all he was giving me." I asked for her number he said it was the same as his and I should just call back. Of course when I called back I got this idiot again and he said, "I already told you she won't be in until tomorrow." I asked to have her call me back.
You can't be both obnoxious and incompetent, pick a struggle.This guy took the cake. I want to also mention the entire time he was talking to me, he was chewing in my ear. Had i interrupted his lunch?

I’ve been using this gym for almost 7 years now. This facility is always clean. The staff are all friendly and very attentive. There’s a variety of equipment to use for any kind of workout and plenty to go around! I love the 24 hour availability as well! It’s a great place to workout and its conveniently located in the center of New Bern.

I love it, usually crowed but you'll get over it when. You start to feel better! Progress not perfection. For all you ladies out there dont be to hard on yourself, focus on what you do have not what you don't and keep moving forward. Excercise is great for depression. Above all the gym is a learning curve.

We haven’t worked out in a long time, but decided it was time to get back to it. We went to Planet Fitness to check it out. Georgia showed us around and took plenty of time for us to ask questions. We joined that day and haven’t had any regrets. It’s the first time in my life that I love to go workout!

Awful business practices!!! I signed up over a year ago with a friend , never once set foot inside the gym , called several times trying to cancel ( thru the customer service 800# as well as the New Bern location.
I explained to them I was physically unable to go, have never used this membership, please cancel this membership immediately!
I got nothing but corporate verbiage blah blah … This company does not care about you, your life, or your family!!! What they do care about is getting your bank and card information so they can put you on auto pay and for your 12 month subscription you can get charged for 14 months instead of 12 whether you use the gym or not, whether you beg and plead to cancel or not, they truly don’t care!!!!!!!

Out of ALL the things we lost during COVID I sooooo wish this corporation went bankrupt and closed their doors because they are worthless !!!!!!!!!

I’d give minus -14 stars if I could ! Don’t recommend!

So apparently you can sign up online for an annual contract—but after the contract is up they keep billing you monthly. Then when I tried to cancel online they said I need to go to the local planet fitness because each are franchised and independently owned and operated. Come on guys if I can start it online, I can end it online. Going to take time out of my day to go to the gym and see what they have to say. Very disappointed with the website, customer service phone number- basically the entire experience

Im only in town for a small amount of time, for work purposes. Front desk girl doesn't understand that I have a home gym I go to and I only want this planet fitness membership for a month. It was like explaining rocket science to a caveman. Conversation wasn't worth continuing. Insane

I love my home PF way more than any other!! Just because I see all the workers four times a week or more and really enjoy talking to them all. I haven't been able to go lately because I am hurt but I still stop in to say Hi?! You will be beyond happy stopping at this PF if you're from out of town. You can always use whatever it is you want and they rarely ever have any kind of a wait for machines. Always clean bathrooms and tanning beds as well as everything else. Cleanliness is the most important thing to me.

Do not go to this place! After being a member there for 2 years now, I had to drop my membership due to my health they took $25 out for my membership and because it was canceled on the 16th of the month there is no refund for services rendered that I will not be using. And talking with the manager there there's nothing she can do although the manager last year was able to accommodate me because of my health issues last year. It's obvious she better have the $25 then need to be able to come back in some future aspect once I got my health issue straightened out but she can keep the 25 I will go somewhere else.

Nice gym, but no pure bench press or squat rack, only Smith machines. I assume it is a liability issue as they are open 24 hours. Still a bit disappointing for an otherwise well equipped gym. Focus is on cardio and machines, free weight section not as well appointed. Great staff though.

This place is great and deserves a 5-star rating. It's clean, well-equipped, and the staff is generally friendly. However, there's one woman who works at 7am on June 21st, 2024, who doesn't seem to like me and my wife(we don't know her personally). She never greets us or says anything to us, unlike the other staff members who always make us feel welcome.

Seen a older guy (worker) go up to new kids and get in their face and yell bye multiple times waving his hands in their face, very disrespectful, and very mean, just because he wore the wrong shoes, it’s okay to tell them to get out but not yell bye and wave your hands in their face, they are kids and I felt like it was a power trip. Staff is super disrespectful, managers specifically. Usual staff is nice.

I love it here. I understand you can't give out information about employees availabilities, as a veteran I have had a few encounters with employees and maybe the motto means nothing to those who work there but as a veteran or whoever I am you should stand by your motto. It shouldn't matter who you are if I'm uncomfortable with the staff and I call to make sure certain people aren't working I have a right to know so I won't be judged when I walk into the gym. Especially if people who work there. I pay my fee like everyone else and if I get banned. I really don't carem I can go to the base and go work out with people who aren't going to judge me and actually come and see if I need a partner or spotter or a motivator. I understand you can't divulge employees work days, however, if I explicitly ask if a certain person is there so I don't get judged, which is your motto, then what's the point.

This gym is not as clean as others. The bathrooms are always dirty and out of paper towels. Also hand sanitizer been out for weeks now and when i bought this to the attention of the staff, they said they were working on getting some🙄. This been a week ago. Paper towels are out throughout the gym.

This gym is a complete scam.. they say $25 a month when it actually is $40.. they withdraw the money from your account and when it doesn’t work the first time there is no second attempt made.. and when you try to go on the app to pay it will not let you until a $15 late fee is added.. and if you late on payments the staff tells you you can’t enter until you made your payment.. but they still charge you every month… but your not allowed to go.. and when I tried to contact the owner I get completely ignored.. it’s amazing

Planet Fitness is my go-to fitness center. It offers so much more than other gyms. We came in interested in signing up and we were immediately greeted and offered a tour before signing up. The entire building was clean, well kept and organized. I had trouble with the red light room and the employees were so friendly and helpful. We signed up for the Black card and have been enjoying our experience so far.
