I was a bit hesitant in going to planet fitness again. After discussing many changes in the evolution of the gym with Sarah, I changed my mind. Good tour and excitement about deadlift platforms and squat racks coming in December. Sarah is a great representative of Planet Fitness and a credit to this gym.

I have really enjoyed my Planet Fitness experience for years. This Newton is one of the very few that I have found that has The Wellness Pod and the Cryotherapy Lounge. Those are 2 of the main reasons that I travel to this location in addition to visiting new sites keeps the experience from becoming too routine and dull.

I enjoy PF- their equipment is generally in good shape, but it is not always clean. I love the PF Newton. It is clean and well-run. I've previously complained about the cleanliness at other PF's as I go to Hickory and Coconut Creek, in FL. I think the difference maker at Newton is Cheyenne. I don't know if she is the Manager or not, but she treats the location and the customers as if it is her home. She is kind, welcoming, professional, and she was also thoroughly cleaning underneath benches and machines today. This is my go to location!

Haven't even stepped foot in this location yet I am continuously getting charged for a membership and anytime I want to cancel they tell me I have to come in. I call and supposedly you can send a certified letter but no one told me that.

Also I had to put a block on their vendor to stop payments and they STILL somehow managed to take money out of my account. After MONTHS of fighting with them to cancel.

Just don't do it. It maybe be a cheaper option but there are way better gyms and this shit ain't worth it.

Today marks the THIRD time the electricity has tripped WHILE on the treadmill. Not only is this incredibly unsafe and annoying, it was just the icing on the cake of grievances I have with this relatively new location. Like most corporate garbage, they cheap out on the remodel--hence the electrical issues--and they buy the CHEAPEST equipment color it purple and say look how pretty! The equipment may not work, like the tanning booth with a sign thats been up for over a week now that still hasn't been fixed, but at least my monthly rate is cheap. Id cancel BUT THEIR COMPUTERS DONT WORK BECAUSE THE ELECTRICITY KEEPS GOING OUT! Do yourself a favor and opt for another gym where you wont have these frustrations.

I love the treadmills, ellipticals, and nautilus type machines. I also love all the TVs on different channels. I can find sports, news and many other things. I am not crazy about the music. It is a little hard for me, but I am getting up there in age. I also miss paper towels in the bathroom. I come in with toothpaste in the sink and water all over the place. You can't clean it up so you have to try an avoid it. But I am not going to go anyplace else. When I average everything together it is a very nice place.

I would like to start off by saying the facility manager/ GM is phenomenal, but some of the staff is clueless and very unprofessional!! I have been with Planted Fitness for many years. I have seen people come and go. Couple of the ladies that open are totally unprofessional! They make a person feel uncomfortable, awkward, and not welcome. They are very unprofessional, belligerent and belittling. I mean if you don’t want to work at job then get a job that is more fitting to you, but you don’t have to take it out on the customers. The professionalism isn’t there! The manager is very kind , helpful and understanding. She goes far and beyond to make you feel like you are someone/ family. The trainer is very helpful and professional as well. The guys are very professional and hard workers. They are always cleaning. Even the manager. The old saying, it takes one spoiled apple to destroy something is so true. Because the two staff members makes me feel that our society has plummet. No mannerism nor etiquette on how to talk to people. No customer service what so ever!! With this being said I will cut my ties with Planted Fitness in Newton and go to Mooresville. This facility know how to talk and treat people. Whoever that do go to this facility please watch out for the red head female with glasses. She is so rude and unprofessional!! Also a long dark headed female. Two very unpleasant people!!!

If I could give 0 stars , I most certainly would.
I joined this gym in Feb or March of 2024, because I was told that with the black membership , I could consult with a trainer.
I asked for months about one , after seeing the staff members come and go and change.

I finally asked the prior manager to cancel my membership, and after she told me the price would increase to 15.00 if I came back,I told her it was ok , and to please cancel. I was never told in June that I would have to come into the location or submit a letter in writing .
I’ve even called customer service - which has been a pain because you can barely understand what they are saying.

I have continued to call since June and every time I call, there is not a manager on duty so they take my number and say “ a manager will
call you back”, which has never called.

The young lady ( can’t remember her name) I spoke too advised me that the prior manager did add notes and all of employees I’ve left messages with have left notes - and she apologized that I had not received a call back.

I then called again yesterday - and the rep who answered talked over me , not even sure if he was a manager or not , but he told me I could not cancel because of a balance ! A balance ??? I haven’t stepped foot in this gym since May because I was unhappy not only with the runaround I got about the trainer , but because I paid for a black membership which was supposed to include a trainer and never saw one because the staff said they could not afford to hire one.
I am beyond irritated with this location! I give fair reviews and I am at my wits end with this location and the customer service team.

So this is an updated review! Thank you to the employees that open in the morning! It was be great if all dressing rooms had a chair in them. The gym stay decently clean but the walls in the shower could use a cleaning. As someone that showers there frequently I can't tell no one cleans the the same stuff is on the walls like from people conditioner or shampoo. If other people with clean up after theirselves it'd stay clean in the gym and locker rooms!
I wish you guys a few other pieces of equipment like a hack squat machine, hip thrust machine and laying leg curl machine would be great additions the the gym!! Some of the equipment in there doesn't get used and could be swapped out of things that would get used! I really wish you guys were like lincolnton location and open 24hrs monday-friday.
