Planet Fitness Review – Six Forks Rd, Raleigh NC
I’ve been a member of Planet Fitness on and off for many years. You start, you stop, then you start again—but I always find myself coming back. As I’ve gotten older, regular exercise has taken on new meaning, and this club has become an important part of that journey.
My home club on Six Forks Road in Raleigh was recently renovated, and it looks great. This time around, I decided to take the plunge and become a Black Card member. Honestly, one of the best decisions I’ve made. Yes, it costs a little more, but the benefits are worth it. Over the summer I traveled to Chicago and Cleveland, and being a Black Card member gave me access to Planet Fitness locations there too.
The amenities are a highlight. I absolutely love the HydroMassage beds—they’re relaxing and perfect after a workout. On the other hand, those high-tech massage chairs? Not for me. I tried one once and felt like I was in a horror movie—it wrapped around me and squeezed so tight I swore “never again.” But the Hydro beds? Awesome.
The staff here is first-rate, always friendly and helpful. I also appreciate that they still offer free personal training, which makes staying on track easier without extra costs.
If you’re looking for a cost-efficient way to get in shape and stay consistent, Planet Fitness is the place to be.

This is a really fine location with super staff.. they are incredibly friendly & helpful and keep this place extremely clean. Really good machines and plenty of them. The only suggestion I would make (owner please note) is that this location doesn’t have a red light therapy room, which is incredibly beneficial for reducing inflammation; these are at every other PF club I have been to in multiple cities & states. This one has 10+ regular tanning rooms, which are rarely used and could easily convert one or two into red light rooms. Do that and my rating is 5 stars.

I had a very disappointing experience at this Planet Fitness location with an employee named Sage. My friend, who is currently on a weight loss journey, came with us to check the gym out and try to get started with a free pass. Instead of welcoming him and encouraging his effort, Sage flat-out refused him entry.

Trying to help, I politely asked another Planet Fitness guest if my friend could be added to their guest pass. At that point, Sage completely overreacted and “freaked out” over the situation. Meanwhile, both my brother and I were easily given free day passes—yet my friend was left out and forced to leave.

It was frustrating and honestly embarrassing that someone trying to make a positive lifestyle change was treated this way. A gym that promotes being a “Judgment Free Zone” should live up to that motto, especially when dealing with new potential members who are motivated to better themselves.

I hope Planet Fitness reviews how their staff handles these situations, because experiences like this can discourage people from taking that important first step toward fitness.

Id like to start off by saying Im a planet fitness connoisseur. I travel a lot and I love to visit different locations and workout! I wanted to admit that this location is one of my least favorites although like children I love them all. Compared to ones Ive visited this one lacks minor amenities that many others have. Primarily the restrooms/locker rooms dont have a separate dressing area. You have to get dressed in the shower. Not a fan. Secondly I'm not sure if this was just a one time thing but there were hardly any spray bottles on the gym floor. I had to actually search for them because they were hardly any at the trash cans. I noticed they were all in the restroom... Idk what that was about. Lastly was the massage chairs... I asked the guy at the desk if I can get a massage chair and he actually asked for my black card info 😂😂!! I know he was just doing his job and I understand but as many locations ive been to no one hardly ever asks... One good thing was there was some nice eye candy around.. other than that this is still a good location and Im just being a Karen about it. I love planet fitness. ALL of them

One of the Best Planet Fitness Locations in Raleigh!

The Planet Fitness on Six Forks Rd is hands down one of my favorites in the Raleigh area. The gym is always clean, well-maintained, and has a nice, organized layout that makes working out comfortable and stress-free.

The staff is super friendly—they always greet you with a smile when you walk in, which creates a welcoming vibe. It’s also located in a great area, so I always feel safe coming here, even during late hours.

Another big plus is that this location is open 24 hours, which is super convenient for any schedule.

If you’re in the Raleigh area and looking for a reliable, clean gym with good energy, I highly recommend this Planet Fitness location!

saw advertisement one dollar down $15 a month went in signed up. Nobody told me that the very next month it would be a 60+ dollar fee so they do not tell you at the counter. They did not tell me at the counter at least that there would be a fee of very next month so it’s not a dollar down $15 a month it’s a dollar down $15 a month plus a annual fee after the first month. I was not happy at all and I canceled my membership still had to pay $30 plus the fee of like $65 very unhappy be honest in your advertising please be honest tell everybody all the costs not some lie.

I used to have a membership with them but yeah I still have the product , the problem is I moved out of the state and so I frosted the account for 3 months , guest what ? They keep doing the same they keep pulling money out from my account even if I already called customer service and transferred location but they haven’t done it , liars ,4 months with this shit show and they don’t take actions , i called my banck to cancel the transaction guest what ? Location lacks in sanitation and cleanliness. Amongst many other things lacking would be the selection of gym equipment. They only have one bicep curl machine so good luck if you’re in a hurry or not even. The squat racks are smith machines and slanted unlike the previous ones they had before that were straight and didn’t feel like you were hurting yourself these machines limit your range of motion but also don’t seem to glide smoothly while you do your reps. I’ve been to many PF’s across the country and Raleigh is lacking the most in all locations. Bathrooms as you seen in these pictures here are run down and always filthy. No private changing rooms or showers that have the frosted glass. They don’t even have redlight vibre shake. In desperate need of a remodel. It also smells like mold and I have gotten repeat skin infections from this location. The staff is friendly though but they change often sadly. Please update your facilities and do better with equipment and cleaning. This isn’t you get what you pay for bc you can get that at fitness connections for cheaper.

If you know Planet Fitness, then you know what you get. A good number of machines. This location has more free weights than others. I wish this and other PFs had more than one of certain machines, e.g., the high row machine.

One thing I don’t love about PFs is that there aren’t saunas, free weight squat racks, or leverage machines (rows, hack squat, etc.). Those thing can be there and PF could still hold true to who they are.

Planet fitness changed my life pure and simple. I wouldn’t be where I am now without them. They have a wonderful staff that makes the experience one I look forward to everyday. Even though the color scheme is wild I’m a ride or die fan of PF. Also if they end up getting new machines like the hack squat or hip thrust I’m never leaving. I will live there day and night. They will have to drag me out…in the best way of course.

I've been a member of Planet Fitness for a few months now and I'm really impressed! The staff here are incredibly friendly and always willing to help. They make me feel welcome and comfortable, even as a beginner.

The gym itself is always clean and well-maintained, and the machines are in great condition. I love that there's such a variety of equipment, so I never get bored with my workouts. Plus, the amenities are awesome – I especially appreciate the tanning beds and massage chairs.

All in all, I think Planet Fitness is a fantastic value for the price. If you're looking for a friendly, clean, and affordable gym, I highly recommend checking it out!

I have been a member for several years and have noticed a decline in customer service and amenities. For starters, there are frequent instances of paper towels being depleted in various stations, water for bottle refills at water station is always warm or hot, request being ignored to fix issues and lack of follow up.

Solution: Fix the issues and keep your members satisfied.

Went in today and refilled my water bottle at the water station and could barely drink the water. You could definitely taste the chlorine or whatever additive was put in the water. I immediately thought that maybe I would get sick and just decided to not drink the water refill. If it's not one thing it's another....

All staff members were friendly and helpful. I am not a gym rat and very timid but felt welcomed. The QR codes are super helpful on equipment and their videos on the app are too to not make you feel unsure or intimidated by a piece of equipment. I’m so glad I got the black card membership for a bit more. The hydro bed thingy and massage chair after my work out make the little extra worth it and I just saw I can get a discount on my taxes! as another perk?!?! The other folks in the gym were so focused on their own goals and not once did I feel out of place or awkward.

I enjoyed the fact that the gym is super huge plenty of equipment to work on with no waiting in line. But I did not like the way that the bathrooms were not well kept. They really need to be much more well maintained. I go to other planet fitnesses in the area and their bathrooms are immaculate. First time going here and was pretty empty when we arrived. Did my workouts just fine, can’t complain about that. The women’s restroom was disgusting though. It looked like it had been days since they last cleaned it. I use the restroom atleast 2-3 times when I go the gym. (Stay hydrated) But I was grossed out on how bad it looked in there. Each stall I walked into was dirty. 👎🏼 I did notify the employees before I left and he said they should have cleaned it.

Great Facility. It truly is a judge free zone.I come in ,work out,sweat and repeat! The hydro massage machine is a sourcery machine of Heaven! Depending on how hard i hit my workout i feel so relaxed after that machine!!!! I'm usually there 4-5 days a week and it's just become my routine.I could do an intense workout,light workout,or come in for a massage,i like the Staff they are so laid back,helpful,and just genuinely nice. We were new to the area as of September of 2023 from Virginia. Although I have been a member of planet fitness since 2015. But my membership has been the basic membership. My husband he's not really into fitness .
Nonetheless I am. So I first tried the Knightdale location because we live on the Knightdale/Raleigh line. The equipment there seemed a bit dated. I was not feeling the crowd. Lots of unsupervised minors there. The population in the area has become so dense. So my husband suggested I upgrade my membership to black card. So I did and I decided to try out this location. Appearance is bright and seemed inviting.
But staff members not so knowledgeable. The club manager unprofessional and nonchalant.
I voiced my concern about an issue and I was brushed off. My husband is suggesting that I either go to another location. And if that fails he says to just seek out a more private fitness setting. But I'll try another location. I understand there are no perfect locations. But customer service, friendliness, and professionalism is a must at any establishment .
Maybe it's the time and era we're in. But I cannot suggest this location to family, friends, or my neighborhood. But because fitness is a part
of my daily life. These locations won't stop me . However this location is a thumbs down for me.
