I travel for work and workout daily at planet fitnesses, I've been to planet fitnesses in TN, VA, NC. SC, PA, NY. This one's not it 👎

Lots of room big space lots of machines and plenty of weights about 3 times the amount of dumbbells. Great staff. One of the best I been in compare to the amount of weights machine space and semi 24/7 except on fri sat sun and mon.
Because of limited staff on those days there is no 3rd shift thank you to the people who work 3rd shift on Tues Wed and Thurs and thank you for all the people who work here 1st and 2nd shift. I can usually make it on nights which is why I like this one a lot more than most I've been too. And the showers have good water pressure hust takes a little longer for warm/hot water to come out i see the best way is to open another shower head while showering to speed up the hot water either way you still wait for half an hour waiting for hot water unless logically if the showers are more frequently used you may not have to wait so long for hot water.

I checked in for my first time in a gym (04-29-25). I was happy with the cleanliness, and atmosphere. I have a back injury so I tried out the hydro massage, I absolutely recommend! However, I left upset. One of the workers was rude to me in the locker room, and it honestly makes me not want to go back. Nonetheless, I have goals to meet. If she doesn’t apologize, she better never speak to me again!

Love the gym and the staff but it seems like it takes forever to get anything fixed there. There have been issues with the equipment and it has took several weeks to get them fixed. The tv’s have been out since last week. I’ve inquired about when they are supposed to be fixed but nobody seems to know when the guy works on that stuff is supposed to show up. They recently brought in some new equipment and that’s great but they took out some good equipment to make room for it. It seems like whoever is doing that doesn’t give a flip what the people who actually use the equipment think about it. The equipment could have been arranged better but once again they were just stuck wherever they could find a spot.Other than that, the people who are there on the weekend are usually by themselves and seem to spend their time cleaning. They could use an extra person.

So i have to change my review from five to one, because I've experienced alot of change from 6mths ago to now, you're not always greeted, which I stated in my previous review and now I don't even want to work out at this location because even though I'm to myself in a corner doing my workout, it still seems to be an issue to some workers that feel as if I shouldn't be there apparently. I do a workout that consists of me lifting a heavy weight over my head to hold behind my back , when I'm done with the set I drop the s
Weight in a secure location behind me, to drop the risk of injuring myself. A Karen approaches me, and states if I continue dropping the weight then I can go to a private gym or leave, but it won't be tolerated in this location. I've been here for months, don't cause issues pay my monthly like every other client. I find a corner I stay to myself and out the way. There are a couple ways this could've been handled. But this was how they chose to go about it. I would rather travel an hr out my way or pay double what I pay here. Than to deal with their customer service.

All was great until 3 weeks in I received a text stating that my payment method failed. I immediately went to pay on the app and they charged me a $15 late fee. Mind you I not only had my bank account added but also a “backup payment “ method. Called the number in the text and they referred me to my local club. Went to the local club and Alesha and her coworker referred me back to the same number and again I was referred back to the club “manager” which is never at work. I do not understand how a late fee is applied 3 weeks into a 28-30 day billing cycle with 2 forms of payments on file, one of which I used multiple times. AND to top it off they have an annual fee scheduled in 9 days as well. After much of my time was absorbed I was
told unfortunately the backup payment method can only be used on certain days and that they do not send messages in advance before payments would go overdue. WOW…so even though it was not my fault the late fee still stands… Again the club was great until customer interaction was actually needed. As long as you remain self sufficient this is a great place to workout. If you need support give up.

But no free barbells for chest, shoulders or squats
Everything is on Smith machines, even though they do have dumbells and a couple of light weight barbells every else is machines. No free weights what so ever for heavy lifting.

Employees need to know what the minimum age is to workout at PF. Today 11/15 at 6:00pm there were two different parents with 10 year olds kids working out. Minimum age per your rules that we all signed says 13 even with a parent. Also people workout with out earbuds in and they take phone calls, especially on the treadmills. Employess need to make people aware of the rules to take phone calls to lobby area. Everyone else doesn't want to here your conversation.
1/9/2025 update. Management still do not make visitors use the lobby for phone calls or no earbuds on equipment. They just walk by people on phones speaker and do nothing. Need new Management at this location.

Had an account with Newton, nc location which was a new gym. It was very nice and clean. Moved and had my account transfered to this Statesville, nc location. Very nice staff so far. The gym has no where the amount of machines to choose from as the Newton location but none the less can still get same results. Smaller gym than use to at Newton location. Went to shower and no hot water. There was also hair in the shower drain. Considering it was @10am on a Saturday and no hot water there couldn't been anyone taking a shower since they opened at 7am. So that means there shouldn't be hair in the shower drains. They need an updated facility. I mentioned the hot water issue to the front desk and they said they would check it out.

I joined the Statesville, NC Planet Fitness in 3/2017. I cancelled in 4/2017. Today 11/19/2024 they have been charging my account and renewals! I called to confirm from my bank what that charge was and for how long. Seven years....and they informed me that although I haven't been in their establishment I didn't properly cancel! It has to be done in store or by certified mail. But as a courtesy since your asking for a refund for the last 7 yrs we'll cancel it over the phone! DO NOT Go to the Statesville NC Broad Street location! Maranda was rude, unsimpathetic, and threatened to hang up, and refused ANY REFUND! $1127 DOLLARS LOST!

I've had the membership for 3 years. I decided to cancel and they sent me to collections because they never actually cancelled my account. They kept charging my savings account. Based on their mistakes they are now charging me $50 to cancel my account. It's just fraud how they charge my account but send me to collections. The 30 minute Express workouts has people in there hogging an entire machine and then you have to confront the person and create an uncomfortable situation because planet fitness is not watching this area. It happens at all the planet fitness gyms even in other states. This is circuit training, Express for reason, you do a machine finish your sets and move on to the next until you're done. All too often like happen today. There was a young man hogging the quad machine. I finished three full machines and he was still on it. Most of the time spent looking on his phone. I asked him I would like to use this, he says well I'm in the middle of a set or I have another one to do or something like that and I said do you realize this is the 30-minute Express workout where you supposed to do your sets and move on. It is very uncomfortable. And planet fitness needs to address this at all clubs. Also at this club specifically today. Really needed to do the hydro massage and every time the machine turned on there was a horrible smell of sewage. Apparently it's coming from the men's bathroom on the other side of the wall. But it doesn't smell before the Hydra massage starts but as soon as it turns on it smells on all four of those machines. Makes me wonder if it's pulling in sewer water and spraying it underneath you? Or the fans are pulling in that sewage water. It was an awful experience

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is kept clean, members are cooperating for the most part with cleaning equipment they use after they use it. There are plenty of machines, cable systems, weights, mats, cardio equipment AND they keep people distant by only allowing every other machine to be used in the cardio area. The hydromassage beds are great, especially after a muscle workout, and the massage chairs are great for those who like deep tissue massage. I don't use tanning beds, but they're available for those who want to use that service. On the whole, it is a pleasant place to do exercise and get or keep yourself in better physical condition.

Some a member of Planet Fitness itness black card so I can go to other facilities besides my home Planet Fitness. Statesville Planet Fitness was very well maintained clean really all you could ask in a gym. I've always found the rates at Planet Fitness to be very fair for what you get. I have been a member off & on (more on) for going on 6 years now. In the beginning this place was like my second home. I loved it. Loved the price. Loved the people who worked here. But now this place has went down hill, majorly. For one, when it comes time to payment every month theres always a problem. They always seem to end up telling me i have a late fee. Literally every single month. But I always have money in my account on the 16th. Of every month. Supposedly i have a late fee due to payment not being in there on the day they try & take it out. BUT, they have no problem charging me NSF fees. So, I pay $12 NSF fees every month plus the monthly payment plus the late fee in the club. So they get about $50 from me a month. I just came in a few days ago, & they said i owed them $55 bc i was 2 months late. I paid it. Then I come in here today & they say i owe them another $50 for the once a year fee. Which is not supposed to be charged until June. But now all of a sudden they changed that rule to if you are a new member they charge you the 1 time fee after 2 months of joining. I mean its just nothing but a money racket. I feel completely robbed. Its just not worth all the money im spending. The hydro beds arent hot hell they are barely warm. Bed 3 has a really bad smell under it thats been there for months. They are always broken down. Bed 2 is the only good one, and gyess what? Its broke down!! Theres always a guy in the womans locker room cleaning it which is unfair. Thats supposed to be a place for women to get undressed, change, take showers etc. its gross for a man to be in there working during our privacy times. As much as we pay to come here, we should have privacy. The staff on second shift is completely unfriendly!! Especially one girl in particular. Im also pretty pissed that they did not warn me of that yearly fee & let me know id be paying that 2 months after starting my membership. I was told that for some reason they couldn't accept my card for my monthly payment. But they can charge ne the NSF fee?? It literally makes no sense. When i first joined PF years ago I never had any of these problems. If you want to save money, id recommend going somewhere else. Ijs. Im very displeased with my service here.

I must say Maranda is a well spoken young lady, very kind just as well as patient. Let me explain There has been a problem with my account a very big problem . No one else showed me the help that she has shown me .. She didn't have to, but she did . The gym it self is fine. Sometimes the bathrooms, showers and changing rooms could be cleaned better. Only problem I seem to have is when you talk to the staff about any problems you may have they seem not to address them. After working out there is alot of people trying to shower and use the changing rooms to get to work. There are lockers for you to put your things in while your working out but there is one person that will put her stuff in one of the two changing rooms and throw her towel over the door so no one will go in there. So while she is working out she is taking up a changing room that people are waiting on. So this issue has been addressed three times with the workers on duty and told who the person is and nothing has been addressed. It’s called being considerate of others at the gym. It’s plain out rude to do that when you’re not even in there to use it.

I LOVE Planet Fitness. I’ve been a member for many years, and not sure how they are so amazing for the cost.

Now for the disappointing part.

Matt Chastain has been manager for much of my time here Statesville, and as I traveled the US I was always aware that our facility was way out inn front as far as cleaning and maintenance. They were cleaning when I saw nothing dirty!

He has moved on now, but I might encourage PF leadership to pay him a few days to re-teach those systems. Today I find all manner of dirt and body hair all over the base of every machine I worked on. The facility has gone from the absolute best PF I ever visited, to average.

But I still don’t know how you make money charging me $20, so I’m still hooked!

Today, after an absence due to surgery; I came back!

Still, only a token measure of cleanliness. To top things off, when I visited the restroom there was no toilet paper. Think for a moment how it feels to finish and find that two industrial sized rolls were just… giant cardboard tubes. What to do?

The resulting, unsanitary method I needed to employ caused an immediate need to wash my hands. But wait! No soap, in a dispenser just hanging open and empty…

I’ve come to the conclusion that management does not care about this facet of the business. I would like a contact from the district supervisor as to what action and plan there is going forward prior to me canceling my membership of 7 years.

I'm not sure what I expected before joining, but I have found the Statesville Planet Fitness to be excellent in every respect. It is very clean and the equipment is well maintained. The staff is friendly and and I have not come across any rude or obnoxious members.

Be careful about signing up. They take your bank account information and you cannot cancel accept in the store. Staff was friendly but unhelpful. The company is an example of a terrible customer experiences. I had to head to my bank to stop payment on their drafts and I have little to no confidence they will delete my records.
