I’ve been a Planet Fitness member for about 10 years, and after today, I’m honestly shocked and disappointed. My 8-year-old son desperately needed to use the restroom , he was about to pee his pants, and we came in asking if he could quickly use the bathroom. The staff refused to let him go.

I understand policies, but basic human decency should matter. Denying a small child access to a restroom is unacceptable, especially to a long-time member. This experience left me incredibly upset and made me rethink whether this is a place I want to continue supporting.

Very disappointed, Planet Fitness. Do better.

Find me on TT gymrattrucker, I do Planet Fitness reviews amongst a few other things. This Planet Fitness was fantastic 8 out of 10 in the showers, not the best shower setup I've seen but pretty close, the owner clearly spared no expense on the equipment they have just about everything you could think of, they even have TVs at the urinals which is pretty cool. The staff is always friendly most of the places I go big shout out to them, I was given a few recommendations of restaurants which I will try one of them today, any place I go I make sure I do not trash the parking lot and I park in the back so I'm not taking up 20 different parking spots. I love Planet Fitness and will continue to travel and review them.

I recently just moved into Wilmington and noticed there was a planet fitness near where I lived. I've been to several planet fitness's before this one but none of them are as great. When it comes to cleanliness and being welcomed by the staff none of the other's l've been to compare. One staff member in particular named "Seth" helped me figure out where all the machines were and all the things that come with being a member at planet fitness. I've been going for two months now and "Seth" is always treating everyone with the upmost respect and is always offering a helping to hand to other gym goers if needed. 10/10

I just joined and came to this location 2 days ago. I was greeted by Evelyn who did an AMAZING, AWESOME, and MAGNIFICENT JOB welcoming me and giving me a tour.🤩🥳 On my way out of the facility, I asked to speak to the manager. Instead, a male staff member with tattoos on his left leg and thigh and a few on his right leg was EXTREMELY HOSTILE.😠He wanted to know what I wanted to speak to the manager about.😳 I asked if he was the manager and he said “no.” So, I asked again to speak to the manager. LO AND BEHOLD, SHE (a short lady with long black hair) WAS STANDING NEXT TO HIM THE WHOLE TIME AND NEVER BOTHERED TO ADDRESS ME. 😠 Those two employees were so unprofessional and should be replaced with more people like Evelyn. 🥰

I have been through a lot of planet fitness throughout the country since I became a member this planet fitness here they have the best looking bathroom that I have seen since I became a member, One thing that impressed me the most was they have new lockers and I was impressed because you no longer need a lock of your own planet fitness it’s providing you a lock, so when you come in work out, It’s very simple you choose a letter and a number you lock it you turn the dial when you come back you do the same thing and it will open up for you so that’s impressive. The customer service here was superb. I really like this location. I wish every planet fitness was like that I’m gonna include a short video of the bathroom so you can see what I’m talking about..

I’m a member of three gyms in Wilmington. This (and the Market location) are the cleanest ones by far, with the most accessory equipment (bands, mats, etc). They also have more incremental weights on the cable stations and machines, which is clutch. The staff does a great job maintaining all the equipment and keeps things clean.

Best Planet Fitness we have ever visited! There were so many cardio machines. All the fitness and massage machines that we saw were in working order. There are screens on each machine that allowed us to control the closed captioning. There was an open turf area where we were able to do running drills. My daughter said the women's locker rooms were the nicest she had ever seen. Everything was so clean and everyone was helpful and friendly. Thanks for a great experience 👍🏾!

I renewed my membership, after 4 years of no close contact, because of concerns with the coronavirus and other health issues. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 4 years. My physical therapy sessions have improved significantly because of the Planet Fitness experience. I joined the monkey junction club, but quickly switched to the Kerr Avenue location. Its spaciousness and elaborate design helps me navigate around the machines in ny Zoomer chair with ease. I am unable to take more than 10 steps unassisted..Therefore, , with my black card I am able to work out as I please and relax in Pod afterwards. The staff is quite friendly and accessible as needed. Very well run and extremely clean Monday thru Sunday.

I started my fitness journey at Planet Fitness on Kerr Avenue on December 1st 2024, and I can’t say enough about these guys. As a Black Card member, I’ve been able to bring my son with me, which has been an incredible opportunity for us to bond and connect on a deeper level. He is now a black card member himself, so we can get the rest of the gang over to the gym as well.

The staff is consistently amazing—always friendly, welcoming, and encouraging. Every piece of equipment is clean, well-maintained, and ready to go. (Although, I’d love to see some heavier dumbbell options added!)

Since joining, I’ve lost 60 pounds of real body fat and gained 3 to 5 pounds of muscle mass… diet obviously has been a huge factor. I’m even starting to see my abs peek through again. More importantly, I feel like myself—strong, healthy, and confident.

Thank you, Planet Fitness, for helping me reclaim my health and my life. Truly grateful. This establishment most certainly gets the Larrabee guarantee.

Ed from California shouting out to Planet Fitness, Wilmington, N.C. I have been traveling the states for 8 years, 300,000+ miles and two cars. Planet fitness is my mobile bathroom. And of ALL the Planet Fitness', this place is definitely #1! CLEAN, well lit, big showers with excellent water pressure, temperature and space. I didn't work out, but if the bathrooms are this great, I am sure the equipment is also. Long time black member here. I travel full time so I've been to many PF all over the country. This is one of the nicest. The staff is helpful. My only complaint is the overload of TVs! Who wants to see the news on 100's of TVs when they workout? Sports news on a huge TV in your face when you are trying to relax in the spa is not relaxing. Are TVs really needed in the men's restroom? My husband said there are TVs mounted on the wall in front of the urinals! Maybe get rid of some and pay your staff more.

Good size club that's been at least modestly busy every time I've been there. They have a very good selection of equipment, probably the best selection I've seen at a PF but a lot of it is older machines. The Smith machines and cable machines in particular are definitely older and starting to get a bit wore out, but they are all still functional. Staff has always been nice and friendly as well and it's always clean. If not for the older equipment and always at least fairly busy, I'd give 5 stars.

During my visit I encountered one of the rudest people I have met. The lady with blonde and black hair gave me the biggest attitude for simply asking her questions about the machines. She gave me short answers and snarky remarks and as I was leaving rolled her eyes and gave dirty looks. I’d rather add the extra 20 minutes and go to the other location then deal with her again.

Best PF I have ever been too on east coast. Largest best equipped too with friendly staff to top it off. Normally don’t give PF 5 stars given bathroom policy and no punching bags but had to make exception for this given how nice it was and diversity of resistance equipment.

This is my favorite location of PF in town! My friend and I just restarted our fitness journey and Jay and Andrea have been super patient and helpful with any questions we’ve had about the machines, the perks, everything, you name it. It’s made coming back to the gym less intimidating and it’s now my favorite way to end the day!

I've actually come to this one quite a few times over the years used to be not so bad but honestly I'll be sticking with the Ogden Planet Fitness this one just seems to attract a lot of trashy people that like to put others down not a big fan of location

I really enjoy my experience at Planet Fitness. The first thing that stands out to me is how safe I feel when I’m working out. The staff is attentive, and the environment is welcoming, which adds to my sense of security.

The bathrooms are always clean and well-maintained, making it easy to freshen up after a workout. This cleanliness is a big plus for me.

I like PF and have been a member going on 10 years and the fact that they have gyms all over that you can visit when traveling I like that. Every planet fitness I've visited staff were nice. Only one time had an employee threaten to not let me in the gym because I didn't have the app...told me without the app you won't get in. I asked her so my senior mom who does not have a app compatible phone would get denied entry as a paying member she continued to be arrogant so I left...upon returning at a later date employee was no longer there. I've since continued enjoying the gym. I just don't like the after 10 check in's rule because I travel with work and like to go to pF instead of hotel workout rooms but now that will be limited with the new franchise rule. Other than that PF in my opinion is the best gym choice period.

I love to work out here. This is the BEST Planet Fitness I’ve ever been to. I travel quite a lot and I am so happy this is my home gym. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, especially Burt. The gym is always spotless. The equipment choices are endless. Seriously, from weights to functional training to stretching areas to every cardio machine on earth to dumbbells and kettlebells to weight machines, they have EVERYTHING.
I’ve tried other gyms and their memberships and have always ended back up at Planet Fitness. They can’t be beat, in my opinion.
Ps. Don’t let the outside of the building fool you. It may look like an older gym on the outside but I assure you it is NOT. The gym was recently overhauled and is all new with state of the art equipment and it is one of the biggest Planet Fitnesses ever been too anywhere in the country. 10/10‼️

We were visiting Wilmington and our hosts have taken us to the gym.

Niko, who is the personal trainer is one of the most dedicated and knowledgeable trainers i have ever met. He makes my daily experience at planet fitness awesome. His high energy and devotion to his clients is admirable to say the least. Planet fitness is lucky to have him!

Cary and Katlin is amazing. The male staff is mediocre. Both male staff ignored me when I went to the desk this morning around 0800 am. I think the upgrade is good, But why would an upgrade down grade the number of dressing rooms in the Ladies Locker Room. Everyone is not willing to dress in front of strangers, especially as you age. Hope something can be done to Upgrade MORE Dressing rooms!

Disappointed in this location. No hybrid tanning beds. I will continue to use the Ogden Plaza location and will avoid the Kerr Ave gym.

UPDATE 8/2/24 Much better!! I'm glad I gave this location another chance since they have remodeled,and it is much nicer now!
-Plus they have a lot more tanning beds and fitness equipment as well. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because my tanning bed didn't come on and after I put all my lotion on I had to redress and go back to the front desk to get him to cut my tanning bed on, which was a huge inconvenience considering I was in a mad rush trying to squeeze in a tan on my lunch. Not a huge deal, but he didn't apologize or anything which is why I deducted a star.
