Coach Shaw is more than a weight lifting coach. He is a mentor that will help you in all aspects of your life. Whether you want to just eat healthier or get better sleep he will even help to reduce your stress levels.
The reason why he is so effective in what he does is because he lives what he teaches and is very strict on himself which allows him to hold you accountable.
When I first came to coach shaw I was barely sleeping 5 hours a night I had very high unmanagable levels of stress, I was also high in body fat at around 175 pounds. While training with cosch shaw I achieved 8 hours of sleep a night my stress levels were reduced to almost nothing as well as my weight going down to 158 pounds at one time.
My point is you should listen to coach shaw he can fix it all!!

I have never had a personal trainer/coach before. and I've been out of the gym for about 5 years post-COVID. Because I don't have healthcare this year, I decided to get back into the gym to work on becoming strong again, to lower my blood pressure, and to help with my stress management. When I signed up for my gym membership, Coach Shaw's name was recommended, and I reached out to him to get started. It's been one of the best decisions I've made in recent years.
Coach Shaw has gone above and beyond from the very beginning. He helped me establish my goals (which are more about function and health markers); set me up with a meal plan and a training regiment. not only that, but he requires weekly check-ins to go over sleep, water intake, general movement outside of the gym, digestion, supplements, etc. I wanted a trainer who would take a holistic approach, and Coach Shaw embodies that!!
It's been a month and I'm feeling so much stronger, my blood pressure is down, my clothes are fitting better, I'm sleeping better. I've been able too prep all my meals and hit all my workouts.

If you are looking to get into shape and change your life, definitely run. Don’t walk to see Coach Shaw. He is the real deal! I started training with him in December 2023 and even though I took2 months off
For vacation and a month for surgery recovery I still maintained my results and fitness . As a 49-year-old woman going through perimenopause it was definitely difficult to lose the weight and get the energy to go work out. He suggested many supplements and suggestions all that were key in my progress. I am sad to say I’m moving back to Florida and will miss training with him. I was seeing my results two weeks into training with him and the progress photos that i took weekly. Definitely give you the push to keep going. He’s AMAZING!

I worked with coach Shaw and in that year alone I learned so much that changed my life. I was de pleating myself with my approach to fitness.
I had a second baby and this time my postpartum fitness journey has been so different. I’m using everything I learned from coach Shaw and already seeing results.
This time I approached it keeping in mind what coach teaches you and what to prioritize- rest, nutrition, movement, consistency even if it is small steps.
Fitness is about sustainable habits and that’s exactly what coach Shaw teaches you.
I would recommend it to anybody and he is the only person I send people to when they ask about coaching professionals.

Lamar overall was great our first interaction I didn't feel prey to sign up or made to commit it was on my terms.
My short coming was I wasn't aware of the cost overall. He did detail it out and was transparent I wasn't as clear as I thought I was.
For example I signed up to work one-on-one because I thought it reduced the price, oh no. That being said if I had more of a disposable income I would continue to see him in person.
Due to a lack of being more vocal on my part there was a breakdown in communication and due to health I ha to cut my expected time short. I felt a disconnect there between us at that point but no bad blood.
Here's the T. Lamar is a great coach, constantly improving his own knowledge and sharing that with his clients. If you can afford to work out with him do; It helps, he doesn't force you but he still challenges you. His plans are solid and custom, actually custom. My meal plan was the most natural one I had that didn't break the bank. And he's the only coach who didn't attempt to sway me out of my chosen diet. He just helped me improve it.

I had a great experience with PBS fitness. Not only is Coach Shaw very knowledgeable, but he is also sensitive/responsive to questions or concerns. This is a great investment for people at all levels in their fitness journey. As a beginner who was new to working out in the gym, I was met with patience and eagerness which helped to instill competence and confidence through each of my workout plans. He made me a customized meal plan taking into account any food intolerances that I had. 10/10 recommend!

Coach Shaw is extremely knowledgable and does everything he can for his clients. He pushed me past my limits and ensured that my program was tailored specifically to my goals vs. a generic training plan. He is very hands on and his communication was always timely. I'd recommend him for anyone who is looking to work with a coach that cares about you as a person from the inside out. I worked with Shaw for about 4 months. I really enjoyed the guidance and push he gave me gearing me towards my goal. He pushed me to really change my mindset about nutrition and change my life style for the a long term. I have been able to take away a lot from training within and implement into my daily life. Coach Shawn’s program really works if you put in the work! I was initially hesitant about working with him because I did not know much about fitness/ meal planning. He is super easy to talk to and will answer answer questions in an appropriate timeframe! He checks in regularly which is something I wasn’t expecting! He is very positive and that helps with motivation but he will be honest and tell you that you have to put in the work for this program to work for you! I will def be working with him again!

I’ve been a client of Lamar’s since 2015/16 minus a break in bw. He was a younger guy and so was I. There’s like a 14yr age difference bw us, me being older. That to say there’s definitely some things his body does that I’m not sure mine will ever lol…Over the last year since returning to him, he’s now not just a trainer but a coach. He’s grown exponentially in his adeptness of fitness and has been so supportive in more ways than one in helping me achieve my fitness goals. Recently I developed some extreme pain in my elbows, which also affected my mood and that ultimately lead me to see a docto. But while I waited on the appointment, I explained in detail what was going on with me to Lamar. He listened, changed my workout and meal plan and gave me suggestions on what supplements and mind set I should engage until I got it figured out. Just this past week I learned from the doctors visit that I was deficient in a few different vitamins/minerals which were causing the pain and mood shifts. Not only were they similar to the suggestions Lamar made, most are identical! I couldn’t be happier to have received the information needed so that I can start doing what it takes to heal, but I’m ecstatic that I have a coach who really gets it, gets his clients and gets that it takes real knowledge to connect with them on so many different levels to achieve success. That’s a gift and a blessing. I highly recommend him to be your coach if you’re ready to achieve and experience the same. But ONLY if you’re READY! Bc you will be pushed! 💪🏾💪🏾

Im currently working with Lamar in his summer program: Summer Rose training program and it has been such an amazing experience! Such a solid workout plan. It’s limited compared to his regular program but he still check in with you and makes sure to answer any questions you have. Overall very grateful for this learning experience and for this amazing program. I would highly recommend Lamar!

We started offering monthly meal packages but we needed someone that would be able to connect with the customers to put together the right plan for their goals. Thank God we decided to go with Lamar! He totally exceeded our expectations and made the process for the client super painless! Not only did he put together a plan that we could follow to make the clients food but he has an app that allows you to have total self accountability! You can access your meal plan, take pictures of your meals for the day, and he also checks in every Friday for progress updates and any concerns you might have! I could literally go on but I’ll just say if you’re a company that needs a similar setup for your customers I would not hesitate to contact him!

Lamar is one of the most knowledgeable fitness professionals I have ever met. I have been training for about 6 years and this is the first time I have ever worked with a coach and he was excellent. He takes his coaching much farther than just excercises and calorie goals. I have tried every crash diet and “30/20/10 day” boot camp I came across and boy do I wish I had found Lamar years ago! When you are under his guidance, he is not just your personal trainer- he will tailor a nutritional plan to fill your needs, he will celebrate all of your wins and he is not afraid to call you out when you don’t meet your potential. My attitude towards my physical health has changed completely under his guidance. In the almost 6 months that we have worked together, I have lost inches where I wanted to and have gained so much strength and endurance.
If you are willing to put in the work and listen to his suggestions Lamar will help you reach all of YOUR goals. That’s actually one of the first things that impressed me about his training style- he takes the time to listen to what you’d like to accomplish and will use all of his knowledge to propel you forward. Before every session he will take a moment to check in and see how you are feeling that day and will adjust your training accordingly. When you are working, he will adjust your form to make sure no movement is wasted. Oh and did I mention that he never stops his education?
This is not some magic quick fix program but rather he will show you how to make lifestyle changes so you can maintain a healthier version of yourself. I cannot recommend his services enough. When you are ready to make real change and commit to yourself come find Lamar. You won’t regret it.

Training with Powered by Shaw Fitness is one of the best decisions I've made. He really takes the time to design a workout AND meal plan tailored to your needs. He also provides weekly check-ins and welcomes feedback to guarantee your satisfaction. Even in the group classes, I still receive that one on one attention where he’s constantly checking my form or making sure I'm getting enough muscle contraction.

Lamar is the best - the customized workouts in a small group setting are intense and push you to be your best self. The nutrition plan is easy to follow, tastes great, and has made a huge difference in my energy. In just 4 weeks, two of them being affected by corona (so at home workout), I’m down 6.4 lbs.
The crowd that comes to the gym is a community and pushes and supports one another - don’t look anywhere else!

I started working out with Candace & Lamar in December after having my fourth baby last year. Since then, I have seen significant transformations in my physique, strength, & endurance in addition to the improvement of some ongoing autoimmune issues. As other reviewers have said, the workouts here are never the same though always challenging. Moreover, everyone who works out here is friendly & Lamar & Candace truly want you to succeed. Lamar now has his on gym on Richard Dr. off of Westgate. The classes are amazing! It is a real challenge but I am always looking forward to class. I have never been able to burn 600 plus calories in just one hour! Every week I have seen improvement in one way or another! It's exciting to think what we will be able to do a year from now! Candace and Michelle are great instructors as well! Very happy to be here.

I started working out with Lamar Shaw in September of 2012. I remember the first workout like it was yesterday, I thought I was going to die, not to mention I forgot to bring water. However, since the workout was so challenging my pride would not allow me to be beat by a work out, so I pushed myself to keep going back. Here we are 2.5 years later and I still can’t get enough. After 2 years I have never taken the same class once. Lamar constantly pushes me beyond what I think that I can do but at the same time listens to me to know how far I can go. I have lost a total of 25 pounds since starting his workouts, I have met my overall weight goal and couldn’t be happier or more confident with my results. I appreciate all the time and effort that he constantly puts in his workouts to make sure that you are getting what you pay for and more.
