Ranier was the trainer that I had been looking for for years. He challenged, inspired, and uplifted my training every session. Best of all, he wasn't intimidated to be working with another movement professional. Ranier has a strong education backing up his extensive experience in personal training . He is capable of offering modifications for one's physical limitations. He is able to give great workouts that are appropriate for the individual he is training. He doesn't shy away from the physical challenges that you face, but finds a way to help you get stronger despite them. I started going to RanierFit in October. Since then, I have seen substantial decreases in my weight & body fat percentages, while maintaining and then increasing my muscle mass over time. Going to see Rain isn't the only thing I do fitness-wise, but if I'm doing weight/strength training - I do it with Rain. Here are some reasons why Rain is awesome:
a) Vibe. Rain is genuinely a nice person and is easy to be around. I wasn't all in on intense gym culture, and didn't want to do crazy shit at 6 am with some dude yelling in my face. I didn't want to be intimidated - I just wanted to work out. Rain is exactly the kind of person I want to be around at 5:45 in the morning because he's not an aggressive, in-your-face type of dude; instead he approaches his training with a calm demeanor and
b) Intelligence. Rain knows what he is doing inside and out. Another reason I picked him is because I'm looking for proper form and technique. Rain is always informing me about muscle groups, and letting me know the "Why" behind the training we do. I feel like Rain is giving me the tools to strength-train for life with an emphasis on longevity over fast results. His expertise is why I feel
c) Safe. I feel safe training with someone so knowledgeable. Plus, with the small group setting, I feel like he is always aware of all of his clients' form & technique and can step in or correct or advocate for a safer/better way if he needs to.
So I met him for a consult, told him about what I liked and was comfortable with, and what I didn't like to do, and he formed a personalized plan for me. I kind of randomly discovered Rain online after realizing just pelotoning wasn't going to cut it. I'm really glad I took the leap of faith to go to my first session. At the barbell club, I get individualized attention in a group setting and have met some really nice people who are all there with a purpose. Going to see Rain is a great decision.

**Another update. This is for the Barbell Club, small group personal training. I’ve been doing the Barbell Club now for about 4 months. In that time, I have gained 5lbs of muscle. As importantly, I have done so in a social, fun, and sustainable way. The classes are small, yet the workouts are tailored to your individual goals. Each workout complements the next. They are well-thought out. Coach Ranier is as good as it gets—the reviews are true—he’s a fantastic teacher and motivator. I highly recommend the Barbell Club.
***Update: It’s now been two months since I started working out with Ranier Fit. I started out twice a week before moving to three times. I continue to be really pleased with the level of instruction and customization. Rain offers the perfect blend of knowledge, toughness, and encouragement. He offers adjustments where needed and adapts effortlessly based on how my body is feeling that day. Rainer Fit works: I have gained almost 5 lbs of muscle while losing 3.5 lbs of fat. I have also noticed that my energy and outlook have improved considerably. I highly recommend RanierFit to all.
RanierFit is an amazing personal training team in Charlotte. Rain, the owner and lead trainer, is top notch. He has impressive credentials and experience, along with a sincere interest in his clients progressing safely and having fun. I really look forward to my workouts. Karen Wong, part of the Fit team, is also very good. She focuses on athletic and functional fitness—and is enthusiastic and encouraging. In only a month working with RanierFit, I have added muscle and gained flexibility. I would highly recommend this team to anyone looking for a dynamic workout provided by stellar trainers.

Rain is an exceptional personal trainer who completely transformed my fitness journey. When I started working out with him, I was struggling with being underweight and lacking muscle mass. I used to walk past the weight section at the gym and feeling intimidated. I worried about hurting myself or looking silly trying to figure out proper form. From our first session, his personable nature and clear methodical approach to training immediately put me at ease. After just a few months of training with him, I've experienced improvements. My energy levels have increased and I can see positive changes in my body composition. Rain listens and tailors my program to what I need to reach my goal. He's not one of those intimidating gym trainers. He is patient, encouraging and genuinely happy to see you improve. Most importantly, he's has been helping me make more progress in a short period of time than I did in years of trying to figure things out on my own. Rain is a very knowledgeable trainer and a great person to be around. I have been training with him for almost a year and always enjoy my sessions. I recently had to have surgery on my hip and Rain was able to tailor our program to improve strength and balance before my surgery. Post-operatively, I have been ahead of schedule! My physical therapist is amazed with how well I’m doing and is impressed with the workouts Rain creates. I was able to come off crutches two weeks early and am weeks ahead in my surgeon’s rehab protocol. Rain is the best of the best when it comes to high quality, individualized personal training.

I honestly can’t say enough great things about Rain and how he trains. I’ll just highlight the key things that stood out to me, and what I would want to know before selecting a trainer.
Knowledge:
I’ve had trainers all over the country and the way he translates is the best I’ve had. By translate I mean he’s able to explain why we’re doing the exercises we do and how it will get my the results I’m looking for in a way that i understand. Also, I have knee and lower back issues that I went over in my consultation and he was able to do exercises I was never able to do! Literally, he watch how I did the exercises, corrected my form, and then my jaw dropped. For over a decade I thought I would just never be able to do certain exercises and when I did it rewrote my whole way of thinking.
Training Style:
His style really fit for what I was looking for. It wasn’t a super hyped, “come on now! Push it! Let’s go!” In your face yelling like a basketball coach whose team has lost 5 straight games in a row. It was just a right mix of motivation, explanation and observation. It feels like you’re talking to a friend and he makes you feel very comfortable. As a woman, I never felt uncomfortable working with him as you can clearly see everything he does and observes is fitness focused. Great manners and provides a high end experience.
Personalization:
Everything is tailored to me and my goals. He worked around my CRAZY work schedule (sorry rain lol) which I greatly appreciate. He factored in what I do for work, my athletic history and past injuries. All of which played a factor in how I performed. I had no idea how much working at a desk all day affected you!
In conclusion, I truly had an amazing experience and I am so sad I am moving. Finding a trainer like rain is not easy. I know, as I’ve lived in over 12 states lol…I don’t normally leave reviews but I wanted to do this here as I’m hoping it can help those of you who are not sure or struggling to find a way to either get back or start working on your health. I was in a rut for over 5 months for health reasons and it was extremely hard getting back into my gym routine. Rain helped a lot in getting me back to feeling like myself which I am extremely grateful for.
So thanks again Rain and for those of you who are doing your research I hope this helps!

I have trained with Ranier for a little over a year now and have had a great experience! As someone that did not have any experience with lifting I have learned a lot. Ranier cares about his client’s progress and makes sure you are not only learning but also applying while doing your workouts on your own. I have made progress with training with him once a week and had some structure throughout my week with the app where I get custom workouts and am still able to get his guidance on my forms and progress when I meet with him. I recently broke my ankle, and he modified my routine in a way that let me continue improving my strength while protecting the injured leg. Ranier is great about encouraging me to keep progressing without pushing past my limits.

I found Rain through a Google search for mobility training because I'd reached a breaking point from dealing with low back pain for too many years. My goal was to make a financial, and time, investment into finally fixing my back because I've always hated gyms and wasn't disciplined to consistently work out on my own. But after working with Rain for the last 6 months, I've gotten so much more than a quick fix for my back. His passion for sports science, health and wellbeing, and the success of his clients is contagious. I'll be 42 this year and this is the first time I've worked out 5 days a week in my life. I love Rain's philosophy of "leaving the gym feeling better than when you arrived" and that's been true for my experience. We started just a few days a week and he took the time to understand my goals and my back pain. Six months later and he still invests the same attention to detail with me in our sessions. I've got two kids under five and I really want to be as healthy and active with them for as long as possible and I'd love to get back to playing basketball again while I still can. I'm not where I want to be yet but I'm also the strongest I've been in 20 years. But most importantly, I've gained the confidence and motivation to keep going. Rain's customized offerings are also a huge factor in my growth. He's always created packages for me that fit around my work travel and family commitments. His app allows him to continue creating custom workouts for me that I complete at home and our inperson sessions at the gym are opportunities for coaching and tailoring the coming weeks virtual workouts. I'm so happy with this investment and I'm looking forward to continuing for as long as I can.

I found Ranierfit online in the hopes of fixing some mobility issues and gaining strength back after a few injuries I suffered. I now have been working with a Rain for the last several months and have seen a drastic improvement in both mobility, decrease in overall pain and have been able to do exercises I haven’t in years pain free. I worked with RainerFit the spring and summer before going into playing college basketball with a deep desire to fix my tendinitis. I have always had bad flare ups whenever I went really hard, and tried everything I saw on the internet but nothing seemed to really work. Rainer started putting me through individual workouts not only to help my knees, but to fix other things like my ankle stability, and hip mobility. After a handful of workouts, my flare ups went away completely, and my vertical increased dramatically.

Cannot say enough nice things about Coach Ranier and Coach Karen. Both my wife and I have greatly enjoyed training with them over the last six months. I started working with RanierFit while recovering from Achilles tendon surgery, where I needed assistance in designing workouts that could keep me in shape despite wearing a cast from the knee down on my right leg. By keeping me active within the guidelines set out by my orthopedist, Coach Ranier and Coach Karen helped improve my recovery significantly and impressed my PT with how quickly I could progress. Both are extremely professional and easy to coordinate with while being genuinely warm and interesting people. Definitely recommend!

I have been working with Ranier and Karen for the past few months and have had a wonderful experience with both him and Karen. They do an excellent job tailoring workouts to your goals and needs. I have loved becoming more confident in the gym and stronger. In addition, I sometimes struggle with back pain and they have been incredible helpful figuring out how to workout safely and to help support a healthy back. Ranier and I have been training together since March 2020. What drew me to Ranier over others is his focus and expertise on mobility and recovery, in addition to his tailored strength training program. I’m more flexible now at 32 than I’ve ever been in my life, and I recover much faster, which have both been big goals of mine for a long time.
Regarding his training sessions, Ranier always leaves you feeling like you put in great work, but not pushed beyond the point of exhaustion, which you’ll find with so many other trainers/programs. I walk away every time feeling energized and ready to tackle the rest of my day, while already looking forward to the next time we can train.
Lastly, Ranier is just an overall great guy to be around for an hour each day. He cares deeply about his clients and their progress, and he’ll push you and keep you motivated, but he does so all while keeping it fun and engaging, which makes the time fly by.
