I have only been a member of the Fitness Factory for a few months, but I have already been made to feel right at home. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the facility, and I have found other members to be easygoing and sociable as well. Lots of space, a turf area, and ample equipment to choose from, even if you don’t opt for the full access membership. Should you choose to go for full access, you are granted amenities like an extra set of bathrooms, an additional turf area, a well-lit posing room, and many more machines to choose from. Highly recommend.

The staff, the equipment, the space- Absolutely fantastic! Very welcoming to me while I visited this gym. My first time to Charlotte, and they made it feel like home. Very convenient to attend and utilize their day pass. If I ever return to Charlotte, I wouldn’t go anywhere else! Plus their mascot Oreo was the sweetest girl, very friendly and made my workout so much more enjoyable. 🐶

This is an incredible gym. They have every machine you could possibly want. I appreciate the fact that they buy really good used gym equipment from colleges (you know it's the best) that keeps the equipment in use while it's very well maintained. And yes, there is no air-conditioning, but huge, and I mean huge over-head fans and many garage-type doors keep it manageable. I mean you expect to sweat a little at the gym unless you're a princess, yeah? Everything is kept super clean. It's open 24/7. The owner Eileen has a Great Dane which is the sweetest girl you'd ever want to meet. It's fair, not crowded (it's enormous), and the staff is nice and helpful. What's not to like?

Incredible equipment (they’re always adding new, maintaining existing), great atmosphere (legit community vibe and feel if you’re open-minded to that), and the staff is great.

The size of this gym is impressive and it's filled with what I'd consider the best of the best equipment. Plenty of platforms, machines, free weights, and space. Everything is A+ if you’re serious about lifting.

One of the best gyms my wife and I have ever been members of!

P.S. The gym dog Oreo makes the gym even more desirable IMO. She occasionally spots my wife and I on heavy lifts and always has time for some pets.

Just moved back from LA and this is one of the best gyms I’ve been to. They have literally everything. If you’re serious about lifting you will love this place. They have an amazing mix of old school equipment and new school equipment, plus an open field for crossfitters. Lots of racks. Lots of space. Great space for bodybuilders too because they have a section dedicated to posing that is off the floor and private. Super clean as well. Disregard 1 star reviews, people will upload pictures of equipment clearly being refurbished or fixed and say “I expected more” such bs. Been going here for 6 months now. Love this place.

I have never loved a gym more! Eileen has created an awesome community through years of experience as a trainer and gym owner. The gym is open 24/7 and because of the safety measures they have in place I have never felt unsafe, no matter the time of day or night. I’ve been going to this gym for over a year and I have never looked back.

One of the biggest gyms I’ve ever been to. Personally, I bodybuild, and the equipment is top notch. All pieces are hand picked and nothing matches, showing they don’t just go for the “bundle prices” and actually care about their equipment. Very clean, the employees are awesome, and the environment is top notch. Doesn’t matter if you bodybuild, CrossFit, strongman, or just simply like to workout. They have options for literally everyone in the industry. Couldn’t be happier with this place!

This is one of the best gyms in the country! Great staff, equipment, and anything you’ll need supplements wise. 46,000 square ft space means you’ll never feel like you’re on top of other gym goers. No there isn’t any AC in the gym area but that just elevates your workouts! If you’re trying to burn calories and lose weight, this is the place to be! Make the dedication to your future self.

I LOVE THIS GYM

★ 1

I had high hopes for this gym, but they were all not met.

1. There is no AC and at 1030am it was 79 inside the gym. Humid and gross with the odor of a men’s lock room

2. The equipment is mostly old (20+ years), reused weights that don’t match at all and machines that you have no clue what they do

3. Cable machines are the worst. None of them are smooth. They all catch on some thing and most don’t even have pins and there are no numbers or any of the weight. You have no idea how much you’re actually doing.

4. Free weights are there’s about five benches which are always taken so if you want to do free weights on a bench, you will always have to wait.

5. Good luck finding a rope pull down took me about five minutes. I only found one or any matching sets.

This place is only good if you wanna spend $100 per month on just squat racks I guess some people are into that but for that price we should have a full service gym with air conditioning with lockers and also maybe a water filling station if you’re gonna make the gym almost 80° while you’re working out

It’s a 0 ⭐️ for me. And I took some pics to help show the vibe.

Love this gym, atmosphere is just what I like and it is big enough to where it never really feels too crowded.

A couple of negatives though. Summer months work outs are miserable in here, humidity and lack of a good cooling system drag this gym experience down … also, some of the equipment and gear shows its age, yoga mats are full of holes and have been like this for over a year since I joined.

On multiple occasions I received unauthorized charges to my account after pausing my membership. Gym set an arbitrary date to resume my membership without my written or verbal consent. This is the BEST gym in Charlotte by miles, it is not even remotely close. I am born and raised in Charlotte and 20+ years in competitive bodybuilding and powerlifting, played sports my whole life. I have trained for at least a few weeks/months at every gym in the area some for years and it has been so awesome to see gyms come up and stick around in Charlotte. There are even some brand new ones that are good. Fitness Factory of Charlotte truly blows every gym here and elsewhere out of the water, might be a top gym in the country tbh. some of the newer ones are more expensive and get you way less

CLEAN - cleanest gym ive ever been to and this is so important for everyone no matter how you train

Equipment - literally they have something like over 200 pieces, 20+ power racks you might think they were actually an equipment seller if you didnt see people in there serious about their health and pumping iron. not only do they have a lot but they have some of the most rare and coveted pieces in training, they have something for every body type and muscle group plus TWO turf areas and one is massive and very nice. cannot believe how many leg and back pieces they have

Atmosphere - incredible, lots of nice people who are just doing their thing, lots of different training styles not just bodybuilding or powerlifting some really cool strongman dudes in there super nice. promise you if you are reading this and you have never stepped foot in a gym do not be worried it is the most welcoming gym. music is also not bad although i wish they would turn it up a bit. huge space with the garage doors open especially at golden hour the place is just magic

Service - no secret service has been bad everywhere around charlotte as people dont want to do those jobs but it seems like they have somehow survived that as they have a lot of staff that are constantly cleaning and always nice. owner is super nice and has a cool great dane you might get some pets in. if you are one of those people that just want to get in and out they are 24/7 with a door access app and they also have these self checkout tablets that you can buy your stuff and move on so that is cool if you are introverted.

Price - am still shocked at how low their pricing is for what they offer, it might seem like a lot if you are comparing to some $10/month gym like planet fitness but that is apples and oranges, the place is like over 40,000 sq ft or something and if you are on the fence def get the full access.

Pros:
the people that go there are friendly and serious about strength training.

It’s a family owned biz which is super cool.
Owners are friendly and down to earth.

There is a huge dog that hangs out in the entry area sometimes, so if you are lucky, you might get a pet in after your workout.

Even at peak hours you can still reasonably get to equipment you need and the spacious area makes it feel less crowded.

When equipment is out of order, owners seem to be on top of it.

Cons:
Pricing is more expensive than comparable gyms in the area and that’s just for the basic membership.

No military/emergency service discounts.

There’s no AC. Like none. So when it’s 98 degrees outside, it will be pushing 100 something inside. Some masochists might count that as a pro, but just warning you.

There are a couple of machines that I would like to see that aren’t there, so I have to modify my workouts to suffice. Maybe they’re on the premium side of the gym. I dunno.

Overall, it gets the job done and should be nice inside once weather cools. People are super nice but it is more expensive than other typical memberships, so it depends on what is important to you.

Amazing 24 hr gym for members (with staffed hours M-Sun if you want to drop by and check them out as a guest) with a convenient Noda location. Equipment selection alone is worth the membership price. Eileen, the owner, is continually searching for equipment to add - both super cool brand new stuff and really unique vintage pieces. The Factory caters to bodybuilding, powerlifting, Olympic-style lifting, functional training, cardio… you name it. I joined last summer, so am coming up on a year of membership - the staff and other members have been awesome. It’s a very motivating place to work out - everyone around you is pushing themselves to the max. This’ll be my home gym as long as I’m in Charlotte.

Enormous gym open 24/7. Loads of equipment. No nonsense industrial vibe is about getting your workout in and not much else. Rarely are you going to have to wait for equipment even during busy hours. Rules about reracking weights and following food gym etticate are enforced. Only negative for me is the massive potholes in the parking lot. Depends on what kind of gym you are looking for. No sauna, locker rooms, juice bar or whirlpool... loads of plates and bars, squat racks, and equipment. Knowledgeable and friendly staff.

I attended the Fitness Factory for almost 4 years now, it was the first gym I fell in love with when I moved to Charlotte in 2020. Unfortunately, I recently moved and the commute with Charlotte traffic is no longer feasible which is heart breaking. I’ll miss the high-energy, welcoming environment with great people (and no creeps). The equipment options are fantastic and the space is so huge that there’s always room for everyone even at the busiest times.

I highly recommend for anyone looking for a great gym in the area. I’ll miss it and I’ll definitely be back for some day passes.

If you love to workout, and not watch TV or chat on your phone while pretending to workout...you should try this place. Gym etiquette is practiced by most members and is a requirement by the owner. Great gym, great equipment that you can't find in standard gyms. Doesn't feel like a cookie cutter chain gym and that's a good thing. Definitely like this place.

I'd give 5 stars but I think they should scrap the full/standard membership model and just flatten out the prices and open gym full acess to everyone. Tiering gym access for a higher price doesn't feel right. Especially if a new section is built but only available for that higher price.

A large gym, but their “standard access” membership is essentially them saying you can pay less money to not be able to use the entire gym (which still costs more than most other “full access” gym memberships). And $130 to be able to use the entire gym is absolutely crazy, especially since in the heat of southern summer, they don’t have AC. Plenty of other full access strength training gyms in the surrounding Charlotte area which are less than $65 per month. And to be completely honest, if a gym is going to charge you $130 per month, the equipment and plates should be much nicer than what it is here. The gym is very disorganized and feels dark in the $79 section. Was not impressed and will continue to drive slightly outside Charlotte for a gym that allows me to use every section for $60 and has better plates and updated equipment.

It's nice, but for $150 a month, it is way out of my price range for a gym membership. It's a dock warehouse, which means there is no a/c or no central heating. It's cool things in there, but it's a no for me.

Going to be disappointed if I ever have to go anywhere else. An unapologetically raw gym where people are suprisingly friendly and respectful. The lack of frills and creature comforts keeps everyone committed to achieving their goals.

Edit: they upped their prices by ~30%. Now each month it is $79 restricted access, $129/month full access. There is minimal bathroom space, no sauna that you would find at chains.

The gym will approximately double in size with the new addition purchased next door however.

Also, despite saying that they will fix the parking lot which is gravel, they have not in the last year. Lots of big potholes.

I've been a member here for over a year and loved it for the most part, definitely some upgrades needed!

The good:
They have all the gym equipment + machines you need for a workout, dumbbells up to 150lbs.

Fantastic gym environment, people here are here to workout and aren't goofing off. Gym code is upheld rigorously, (wiping down of machines and reracking weights). Plenty of spotters if you need them.

The staff is very friendly, family owned

The bad:
The gym gets very crowded during evenings (5:00-8:00), lack of parking space, gravel poorly maintained parking lot with lots of potholes, no sauna, not enough bathrooms, no lockers.

Price of $79/ month for most weights and racks, turf/sleds/boxes/punching bags come with unrestricted access at $129/month.

2 years in. While the staff is still friendly, it's still 24 hours, there is a lot to be desired at the price you have to pay (and that price is about to increase for new members). Walking into the gym, you feel like it's the perfect place to get your pump. With so many pieces of equipment, solid specialty bar variations, it looks great. Then you get into the nitty gritty... There is absolutely no rhyme or reason for half of the equipment, the placement of everything is rather awful unless you like being crowded with no flow, and most of the equipment is hand-me-downs that haven't been kept up with. The place tends to lean on the dirtier side, probably because it's a cluttered mess. "New" equipment that comes in is hardly vetted and it doesn't take long to realize that there is better out there. It seems like this place survives and can get away with the prices because there isn't any competition. Hopefully, with the expansion, they take existing equipment and actually have a plan in place on where it should go, they no longer haphazardly place things in "open" spaces, and create a gym dynamic that makes sense. There is hope for a good gym yet, but the ever-increasing price is becoming insane.

Fitness Factory has a very home away from home atmosphere. Even after I spent most of the last decade moving around every year or so into a different state for work, this is one of my favorite gyms I've ever joined. The space is large enough to contain all the equipment you'll ever need and compact enough to be very intuitive to navigate. The owner and staff are all incredibly pleasant people. The hours are 24/7/365 and I almost never need to wait to use equipment. They have a boatload of equipment (15 leg presses)
More than any gym in charlotte 100% and ALOT OF SPACE to workout.
Some of it(equipment) is fairly old but I like some of the older stuff they have.
Her pricing model is a bit off I think but then again gyms have gone up a bit in clt.
I do not care for the split gym set up.
I think it would be much better to have a simple 75$ universal membership. I see it as a bit of a money grab to call one side open gym.
NO AC
some people are down with this old school vibe I personally think it's a way to save money and this is not reflected in her monthly membership fees. Should at least have more big commercial fans.
No lockeroom.
If QUADS is 75$ a month in Chicago
(WITH AC) this should not be more than that but it still worth checking out if you are in the area and serious about training

Hands down the best gym I have ever trained in. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a competitive power lifter, you will love this place. My favorite part is that even at the busiest times of day, you won’t have to wait because there is so much equipment/racks/platforms.

After being here for about a year, I've given a lot of thought about the quality of this gym.

PROS:
-Lots of equipment, but there are caveats
-24 hr access
-Generally chill environment, with lots of cool folk

CONS:
-Price... $59 a month for one person, $99 for two FOR HALF THE GYM. This price is insanity. There are powerlifting gyms I have been to that cost 1/2 the price for the same if not better quality equipment
-A lot of the equipment is old, and generally bad quality. I get the aesthetic, being "rustic" or whatever... But for the cost of access, it is absolutely inexcusable to have hand-me-down 40 yr old equipment.
-You are excluded from half the gym unless you pay premium. This is the most egregious part of this gym. $59 gets you essentially the SAME amount of equipment as your run of the mill Fitness Connection, for 4x the price. If you want better bars, better equipment, more benches etc, you will have to pay premium
-Selling illegal/questionable products? For a good couple months there were SARMS for sale at the front desk. There are teenagers that frequent the gym. Thankfully they removed it, but c'mon.

My suggestion. Unless you are competing in Strongman(not even powerlifting/bodybuilding), do yourself a favor and go to a cheaper gym, youll get essentially the same equipment for a massive fraction of the price.

Without a doubt the best place to train in either of the Carolina’s! The equipment/atmosphere is exactly what you need to lock in and get the best workout.

My ONLY complaints about this gym are the front desk area and the bathrooms. Both are extremely unkept and smell like urine. They hate a comforter on the floor for a pet, and it’s the first thing you notice when you walk in. The bathrooms also have flies and look like they haven’t been cleaned in months.

If you can manage to walk through and get to the gym floor without needing the bathroom, this place is 10/10! Would love to see them put some care into the non-lifting areas…

If you’re searching for a GYM not a fitness studio then this is your heaven. You get 24/7 access with a badge reader. All the machines are available and are used for one function, get fit. You never have to communicate with people. No one wants to talk to you. You just workout. Simple. Also, most affordable gym by far.

Well equipped gym for powerlifting, weightlifting, bodybuilding, general fitness, and more. Although there’s no AC, the gym never feels too hot thanks to the oversized ceiling fans and the warehouse doors that they open to let the breeze in. If you’re serious about your strength training, look no further!

This is an amazing place. No matter what age or shape you are in (me, 67 and not so great), you will feel completely at home here. I can come in and use any one of the incredible machines right next to a very serious weight lifter and be perfectly comfortable. There is a machine for everything, and plenty of them so the wait times are super short. Clean, bright, organized and help is always available if you need it.

Hands down the best gym I have ever been to.

If you want to workout somewhere where the staff is courteous and professional, this is the place for you.

They treat their members like a part of a small community. Don’t let other negative reviews fool you, they truly care about their members and it shows with every interaction.

Every person takes a spray bottle and individual towel when they walk to ensure the gym stays clean and sanitary.

I recommend this gym to anyone in Charlotte!

You won’t have to wait on Becky/Brad to move away from their selfie sessions either.

Hi, I moved to Charlotte's Plaza Midwood in 2008 from Kansas City. And in learning Charlotte, I got lost and accidentally found the Fitness Factory in their previous location. I did not know anyone in Charlotte, and Eileen and the dogs were among my first acquaintances and friends.
The factory is her, and she is the factory (to me). It is an excellent place, low key, and focused on your goals. There is no better place in Charlotte in its target space. For damn sure, there is not a better or nicer management and coach team to be found.

Amazing place to workout. What’s even better is the customer service, my fiancé and I had to cancel due to moving and they made the process so easy without any hassle. I can’t explain how much it means to have an operation treat their customers in such an outstanding way. Most places make you run through the ringer to cancel a membership, I wish all fitness facilities were like this. Thanks fitness factory for setting the standard of how a fitness facility should operate.

One of the messiest, most disorganized, cluttered gyms I've ever been to with pricing line with some of the best gyms in Charlotte. Not a matching plate in sight and you can never be quite sure what the weight on the bar is. I always wanted to train at a "rustic" gym, but not one that's also a garbage dump. Certainly not paying for quality here and I can't wait until my membership ends.

I wanted a gym where I didn't need to worry about finding a squat rack or a barbell, and boy did I find it! There are something like 12 squat racks and even more barbells, a load of Olympic lifting platforms for all your deadlift, clean and snatch needs, and essentially every machine you could ever want. I only wish there was a directory of all the machines to understand how some of the more obscure ones work! What a great place - the open gym is AWESOME too -- sand bags, sleds, everything! So glad we found this place.

I was visiting Charlotte on business for 5 weeks and found this place. They have two separate gyms depending upon your goals. Both are FULL of equipment. If a piece of equipment exists, they've got it! Eileen and the rest of the staff are A+. This is NOT a globo gym. Tons of rack, plates, dumbbells. Additionally, the cardio equipment is STATE OF THE ART. If you're in the area, you should check it out for yourself.

This is not your typical commercial gym - they have every piece of equipment you could possibly imagine and lots of space. You'll never wait for a squat rack here and the turf area is awesome for sled work, farmers carries, etc.

The owner, Eileen is great, and you might even get to meet one of the gym dogs. If you take training seriously, you have to check out The Fitness Factory.
