I exercised at The Toning Mill back in July while visiting my Dad in Hertford. The gym offers great equipment and several rooms featuring different equipment: free weights, machines, floor mats, etc. It was perfect for exercise while I was in town. The owner, Pat, was extremely nice and too accommodating, if that’s possible. My two comments/suggestions: 1. β€œthe toning mill” as a name, is somewhat inaccurate, this is a full purpose facility with tons of equipment and suitable for everyone. 2. As others have mentioned, maybe have an online short-term pass? Or something to save the owner, Pat from having to meet people to give them access. It seems like there a lot of visitors to Edenton so this would be beneficial. Overall, the gym is great and I would highly recommend it. - Chris Carter, Cumming GA

Quiet most of the time. Machines are open quite often, meaning you don't have to wait

This gym is VERY neglected, Men’s bathroom was caving in, has been shut down and under repair for almost a month now. I’ve never seen a single staff member here let alone anyone clean other than the saniwipes people use. Hodgepodged put together sets of equipment, god forbid there’s more than two people here you might as well go home. The dumbbells are falling apart, mold all over. Drive to E City if you must

*Note for Travelers - They only take cash for day passes. Seems like a big miss for ownership not to have a Venmo/CashApp/etc option considering the trend to cashless business. Gym is presumably owned by partners in a CPA firm. Thus four stars and not five*

The gym is great overall! Lots of machines, free weights, cardio, etc. Plenty of space to get a good workout in. The space is a recovered/renovated peanut mill which is really cool. Very industrial with beautiful brick walls. Would gladly visit this gym again vs others in the area. Hopefully they accept cashless forms of payment on our next visit.

Seems nice at first, but the gym should be better maintained. I’m not going to continue my membership.

Not set up at all for easy access for New or Visiting members. Key fob access only and no one is at the front desk. If you're interested you have to jump through hoops but you have figure out where and what those hoops are. This is a problem they are aware of but have kept the poor business practice anyway. This is a problem for me, as I work with Senior clients that I would like to refer but they woulld struggle figuring it out.

Was on town for a few days and the facility worked nicely for me. You will need a key fob to get in, which you can only pick up during business hours.
Plenty of machine varieties, free weights, a couple of benches, smith machine, TRX equipment, hex bar, etc. Locker rooms also have a small sauna if that interests you.

I was in town for some meetings and was pleased to find this gym. Linda was so helpful in accommodating me and the facility was awesome! The building is a re-purposed peanut mill and is very cool. They had all the equipment I needed to stay on track with heavy lifting. They also had great cardio machines and lots of Nautilus equipment. Overall a great gym for a visitor or for local membership!

Pros: They have most essential equipment, including TRX suspension ropes. The gym is kept clean.
Cons: I went for 3 days, and there was never a person at the front desk. You have to get in with a fob, which I didn’t have. Each day I had to keep waiting for someone to let me into the gym (20 minutes the last day). I’m not sure how they expect visitors to get into the building or what their plan is if there is a medical emergency inside of the gym.

Great gym where you can lift heavy and be loud without a lunk alarm going off. Most of your basic equipment and clean. Usually not too busy so you're not waiting around for equipment

Biggest gym in Edenton, has most all your basic things like cardio equipment and free weights, squat rack, punching bag, few machines. Always clean, nice bathrooms with sauna. Gets the job done, only down side it is expensive. I ended up going to onelife fitness for half the price and triple the size in va. For the location you can't complain though! I enjoy this place. Wish they would try to lower that monthly price.
