This gym is trash compared to other Workout Anytimes and other gyms in the area. The twinky brunette pony tailed owner is incredibly rude, creates his own rules on the spot if he decides he just doesn’t like you, as well as the gym being SO small you have to wait a long time to use any equipment while trying not to bump shoulders or bars just switching weights, and apparently you’re not “allowed” to have several minute rest periods between sets because there’s already a line of five others waiting to use the bench you’re on. Switching gym memberships now after moving here from Alabama which was a much better run space and actually worth the membership.

came in today to check out Workout Anytime and had a terrible experience.

When I arrived, I had to ring the doorbell twice before anyone even answered. The staff member at the front was busy, so I politely waited. After about 5 minutes, another worker finally came over and I explained I was there for the free trial listed online. He told me it would actually cost $10 — which isn’t what the website says — and then told me I’d still need to wait.

So I waited another 5 minutes before asking if I could just scan in, since the app had already given me a code and I’d already signed the waiver online. The staff member let me in, and I started getting ready for my workout — only to be pulled back up front and told I couldn’t enter until the first staff member finished with the other person and that I still needed waiver info (even though I had already done it).

At that point, I was over it. I don’t mind paying $10, but my time is valuable and it was being wasted. As I was leaving, another staff member with an iPad stopped me, asked if I was Greg, and then requested my ID. After I handed it over, she told me I wasn’t eligible for the trial since I don’t have a Winston address. This was never mentioned anywhere on the website.

Overall, the staff was disorganized, unprofessional, and wasted my time. I came in considering a membership or at least paying for day passes whenever I visit Winston, but after this experience, I won’t be back.

The gym is okay. It definitely can use an upgrade. The machines are out dated and don't fully work. Two of the treadmills are functional but buttons are broken on one of them and the other fan doesn't work. Not really a lot of stalls or shower stalls to use as well limited down to two. Wish there was an area just for stretching. It just seems like they expect you to go out of the way to stretch anywhere in the gym and in someone else path or way...it very uncomfortable for me. Some of the mats are very dirty and sticky. This gym has a lot of potential if they invested in newer equipment and space. Or at least rearrange their equipment take away some equipment that isn't being used. Oh and when I first started here the staff was rude to me. That was a first sign I should've noticed but I just told myself to look pass it maybe the person was having a bad day. She did not make me feel comfortable during her introduction to the gym did not ask for a walk through for the gym just gave me a break down of price told her I was new to Winston-Salem coming from out of state. For me just felt like she wanted to sell me but for me I wanted more of welcome and walk through of the gym. Another thing that strikes me odd is there is no staff here in the morning I come between 5am and 8am how is there no one working over night or at least early in the morning. It make things uneasy anything can happen and no staff is there to help prevent anything.

This gym has every type of equipment you could need, and is the only true 24/7 gym in the city, you can’t beat that!! The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and they are constantly cleaning! There is a broad range of people that workout here so no matter what your fitness level is you can easily find someone with similar goals! The basic plan is super affordable and if you choose to go to the premium you get access to the massage chairs, personal sauna, tanning bed, and any other workout anytime in the country! This gym has easily been the most significant factor in my fitness journey, I couldn’t recommend it more 💪

I love this gym!!! I’ve been a loyal member for about 2 years. All of the staff is great and very attentive to every customer within the gym. The gym is always clean and neat. The workers always ensure that the weights are put back and every towel and cleaning spray is available. Was looking for a place where I work in Mt. Airy and this place popped up. I read reviews and signed up online and that was super quick and easy. I was not able to hit that location that day but hit the Winston location on my way home and they got me in, gave me a card and I was working out within 10 min. These locations have proved to be fantastic with everything needed, and plenty of space. Would recommend 10 out of 10.

I have been a member at this gym for a little over 2 years now and I am so pleased with the gym community, cleanliness, and up to date equipment they provide! The 24-7 feature is self explanatory and it’s always clean. The infrared sauna and top of the line human touch massage chair is also plus. If you join, you’ll 100% meet the owners and staff who are always warm, ready to help, and offer tips (but not unsolicited). I also like that they take heed to feedback from members which can be reflected in how they are staying with the trends and consistent and practical improvements. I joined workout anytime over a year ago after leaving another gym. The staff is friendly and easy to talk to. It’s really clean there. The bathrooms are always clean. They do offer personal trainers and there is a styku machine to measure your body weight, BMI, etc..helps keep up with your progress. The massage chairs are the best. The equipment is always kept clean. I’m really glad I joined this gym.

I've been coming to this gym for 9 months, and I couldn't be happier with it. The 24-hour access is a game changer. There's really no excuse for not finding time to work out, LOL. Even during peak hours, I never have trouble getting the equipment I need, which says a lot about how well the space is managed. I made the switch from a big-name gym to this spot, and I’m so glad I did. As a female who is really just getting into fitness and doesn’t want to deal with crowds or impersonal service, this gym is exactly what I was looking for. My teen can even use the extra amenities like the massage chairs and the sauna, which is a huge plus.

The owners and staff are incredibly friendly, supportive, and always available (during staff hours) if you need guidance or just a bit of encouragement. The atmosphere is welcoming and non-intimidating, with members from all walks of life and levels of fitness.

Being open 24/7 is a game-changer for my busy schedule. The space is always clean, well-maintained, and has all the equipment I need, plus some that I am sure I will need as I progress in my fitness journey.

Traveling for work and found this gym near my hotel. It has everything you need for a great workout. Super clean and the staff makes sure weights and accessories are returned to their proper spots! Terrible staff! They make you feel uncomfortable with there stares wen your in there workings out, at least that’s how they made me feel. Old rusted and about to fall apart equipment. My husband and I who are senior citizens joined the gym several months ago and have enjoyed the facility. Staff is nice and keep it very clean. They have a large variety of equipment and always in good condition. We have met other members who are very nice.

Today, my husband while on a weight machine was approached aggressively by another member and then started to be aggressive toward me. I called the owner and he immediately handled the situation. The aggressive member had his membership canceled. You may see this aggressive member’ s review but do not pay attention. This young man who is got aggressive toward two elderly members with me being a female and my husband disabled should not be a member any where! This gym is Dirty and the staff are rude…I did start a membership with this location..My job got a big contract and we had to relocate..I provided our contract and a pic of our new location and emailed it to the email on the website…The company tried to charge my card it was locked the manager called I explained to him I had moved and I did provide proof he told me he would freeze my account and I would not be charged…This was a Lie!! Not only was my card charged but charged 9 times back to back…My bank called me and told me what was going on…They did not care at all they wanted to talk about a contract and yell over the phone The Entire phone call was RECORDED..but as I sit and read the other complaints you can tell by the replies the management lacks professionalism…and the equipment does need to be upgraded it’s a lottta new gyms in the area this gym is very much OUTDATED!! Rude staff!!! Go walk around first..and that locker room was terrible extremely nasty…This is why I only went twice and cancelled I was happy my job relocated…I cancelled my card and I will be reporting these folks I have documented everything…read how they respond to the other google reviews…I gave this gym and opportunity because it’s open 24 hours but it’s not worth it with the older broken equipment..They get pissed when u tell them they stuff old but it’s the truth!!! Proceed with caution, poor leadership in owners.

In March of 2023 I was traveling to Winston Salem for a continuing ed course. I called the gym before I ever arrived and confirmed that I would be allowed to acquire a short term membership for the two weeks (8 days total) I would be visiting.

I was assured by an "owner" that this would be perfectly fine. I arrived in person the day before my courses began so I could arrange the short term membership. I asked repeatedly, over the phone AND in person, to assure the membership would be cancelled and he assured me it would.

I enjoyed my visits and the gym itself deserves a 5 star review, the current owner and "owner" who handled my experience is the reason for the 1 star.

I was assured when I signed up that although no employee would be working at 5 am on my last days visit, there would be no problem cancelling my account before I left Winston Salem and returned home to the mountains. I also called to confirm that I had returned home and the account should be cancelled, the "owner" assured me it was.

I was almost 6 months pregnant at the time and went home, began preparing for a baby and didnt think twice about the numerous conversations I had with the "owner".

Yesterday, almost 19 months later, I realize I have been charged every single month for the account I was repeatedly assured was closed.

I called immediately yesterday and was told someone would call me back. No one had called so I called again today and finally spoke with the owner who admitted, along with the other employees I spoke with, that the "owner" who signed me up was fired because he was lying and telling people he was an owner when he wasn't, amongst many other reasons I am sure.

I fully expected the owner to make this right since his incompetent hire had fumbled this one big time. Instead I was met with hostility and the worst example of leadership in business that I have ever experienced. When you as a business leader hire an incompetent employee that you and your staff openly admit to, you should 100% take responsibility for the situation.

Instead of taking responsibility and making it right I was told by the owner "I have no way to validate what you are telling me", "why did it take you so long to call", "if you had called last year I would help you", "if you report this to your bank I will turn you into collections", and "do you know how many people call and say the same thing"... He even implied I was lying to him about the number of times the "owner" told me the account would be closed. The disrespect was mindblowing.

I'm sure the owner is a decent guy in real life... maybe he had a bad day... maybe he thought I had nothing better to do with the first year of my childs life than to rack up charges and then call him to complain.

This experience could have gone very differently and I could be writing an awesome review instead of this one (the other two employees I spoke with were respectful).

The owner could have offered ANY amount of refund, even partial to show some kind of care or consideration for the behavior of his past employee but he went a different route... not even an apology for the experience and the obvious negligence on behalf of his employee.

At the end of the day, despite my mind being elsewhere the past year, the 20$ a month slipped past me... lesson learned. Too bad the owner couldn't have turned this into a positive interaction.

Great gym. It has new equipment, a sauna, the best massage chairs in the world, the Styku device which measures your body fat, muscle mass, water weight, all of your muscle measurements and emails you your results and drops in all in the AnyTime app. There's a tanning bed and the best part is that the gym never closes - IT'S 24HRS! Moved out of state a year ago. They refuse to cancel my membership despite the owners telling me over the phone they have cancelled my membership 3 times now. Once with previous owner and now twice with the current owners. Don’t sign up here unless you want to have to report fraudulent charges, cancel your payment method card, and potentially have to sue this sham of a business if they continue to harass me by not allowing me to cancel my membership. Terrible experience, go somewhere else instead and save yourself from this headache

Edit for response- I did meet in person to cancel my membership before I left. Was told to my face that it was. Great for body builders and casuals. Many machines are available. Squat rack leaves a lot to be desired and there are no platforms. It's hard to spot on the bench but it does lean the bar forward for easy lift offs which is fantastic. Great price and it's always clean.

I ended my membership 2 years ago and they continue to charge my card monthly. I have tried contacting them and they hang up on me. The meat head at the Winston-Salem gym is a criminal as evidence to the numerous other reviews found on their Facebook. When will this madness come to an end? Nobody knows. Will I ever see all of my money back? Do yourself a favor and run far away. They will write a generic response to this review, but don’t worry nothing will change. Let’s pass the blame to the next guy shall we? Sincerely your hard work tax paying American who just wanted a safe place to curl and dumbbell but instead is fighting to pay his bills and nobody seems to care. Good luck.

When this gym first opened, I was a member it was really nice and the equipment was top tier . After moving away and returning years later I recently got a membership again last fall of 2022 . I visited the gym 1 time and the machines were dirty some of the equipment seats were busted with the foam hanging out . I couldn’t find any bottles of cleaning solution to spray my machine down with . I was disappointed. Needless to say I took my business elsewhere. I hope this facility revamps it self it is one of the only 24hour places around .

This gym is under new management. I had issues with being charged erroneously by the previous owner. I recently went into the gym in April of 2023 and the new owner was able to stop the charges to my account.

They were very kind, understanding, and helpful! If anyone else is still being wrongly charged by this gym, make sure to give them a call/stop in.

JUST DON'T DO IT. Awful membership practices. Seems maybe there is new ownership but someone needs to deal with old problems with memberships and such. I cancelled my membership in Dec and I continue to get calls and now another string of charges (on my now cancelled credit card because they won't stop charging it.) Calls go unanswered. Sent 3 letters and still it lingers. Like others, insane calls from some corp office that can't do anything but refer me back to local club after I wait on hold forever. I have moved 4 hours away otherwise I would go camp out because it would be easier. WHO CAN HELP ME?

As of Feb 1st 2023 this gym is under new management, and there was a much needed deep cleaning on the first day.
Huge improvement overall, glad to see the equipment will be fixed soon. The rates haven't changed yet, and are very reasonable.
Love the fact that it has 24 hours access and I can go on my schedule. The new owners are motivated and friendly.

Picked this gym over a year ago for the 24/7 access. 1/4 of the equipment is broken. Always dirty, mirrors never seem to get cleaned. So I tried to cancel my membership last September. I've been trying to call and cancel since then. Phone is never answered and the voice-mail is always full. I've tried to go to the gym in person during staffed hours, but there's no staff or manager in sight.

Today, I received a call from collections when I've been trying to cancel my membership for 5 months now. I called corporate and they said all I could do was write them an email that they would forward to the owner and manager.

Whoever owns/runs this place doesn't care about the customer experience. They probably just care about the paycheck that comes in. Better Business Bureau is next on my call list because after going through the other reviews, it seems to be common practice to not make it possible to cancel a membership and then send people to collections.

Water pipes at home are being redone, so decided to come for a quick work out while I was in the area and then shower... I should've checked the showers 1st... if I wasn't desperate I would've just gone home. Shouldve just played it safe and gone to my home gym in Mt. Airy instead.

Inside wasn't clean. No paper to wipe the machines down. Showers are disgusting. Looks like the place is 100% independent, as in the members are supposed to maintain it.

Point is, don't come. Especially if you plan on showering after. If you have no choice but to shower like me, make sure you bring sandals.

Any word on updates to the gym? Everytime I visit, the same equipment is out of order. When I first joined it was a nice clean gym with functioning equipment however, the entire year of 2022, I never saw a staff member, and 25 - 30% of the equipment in the gym was out of order with no sign of replacing or fixing. Would love to see some improvements to the gym with this being such a great location and spacious place this gym could really be nice. It's current state is a shame.

I’ve come to this location over 6x trying to get a membership. There is no one ever here during the “staffed hours.” There is no way to contact anyone. Even the other members say “that guy is never here, he might be here at x o’clock, but he might not.” I understand it’s a small gym, but literally NO way to contact anyone about a membership?

Absolutely horrible. I came into the location in August to cancel my membership. The man in the manager's office assured me he would cancel it. He did not. I continue to be charged. I've called almost a dozen times. No one answers. I've sent in four complaints, no responses on any of them. Workout Anytime Winston-Salem's business practices are shady and immoral. Based on the other reviews here that say the same thing, it appears this is a habitual action of Workout Anytime Winston-Salem. Reading other reviews, I called the corporate number listed. No one answered. No one called me back. I'm sure someone at Workout Anytime will give me a copy-and-paste answer here telling me to call corporate and that it'll never be resolved.

I have cancelled my membership over 6 months ago and I am still getting calls from a collection agency. I understood I would have to pay one month after cancelling. What can be done about this? 300 dollars to collections is crazy. I have called multiple times. Nothing seems to work. Maybe I will try the better business bureau next. Absolutely the worst Workout Anytime that I've experienced. The universal membership keycode would not allow me access, then upon entering, the place is the most unsanitary gym that I've experienced. Most of the equipment is broken with many creating safety hazards for the guests. This location definitely gives Workout Anytime a black mark on the chains reputation.

Disappointing... the gym was a great place to workout and meet people who love fitness. You will not be able to cancel your membership. I moved away from the area in 2020.

I've spoken to the manager in person three times since then - EACH TIME he insists that the membership is canceled. The letter from the collection company would say otherwise. Use at your own risk.

I walked in again today. The manager wasn't in. The guy there isn't authorized to do anything. The very next guy behind me had the same issue of membership cancelation.

Both benches are broken, cable machine broken, dumbbells are falling apart. The moveable benches are broken. Padding on the machines is literally falling off and destroyed. Leg press has been broken since 2019. Bathroom doesn’t have any toilet paper shampoo or body wash. Dead roaches around the gym. Constant dirt and debris cover the floor. Management does not care. They are absolutely lazy and never here. Do not waste your time or money here. There are better gyms in the area and worth the little longer drive.

I started to work out at the gym with Sean to whom I paid 700$ for personal training on top of the month to month contract gym membership. I also paid an extra 100$ for 3 sessions that were supposed to be part of a promotion. After those 3 sessions plus a free one, Sean passed away from a heart attack while at the beach. After that event, a new guy took over, Devin, who is utterly incompetent at his job as a gym manager since I have asked for my membership to be cancelled multiple times, over text, phone calls and visits to the gym and it still has not been cancelled.
A month after my gym membership was supposed to be cancelled, I received a call from creditors that I need to pay my gym membership if I do not want to have a bad credit report. By reading the reviews, it seems to be a trend not to cancel membership and get threatened by creditors over sending your debt to collection. This issue also seems worse since Devin took over, who, may I add does not care about the gym reputation and cleanliness.
If I need to get a lawyer for service not rendered and get a refund for all those months that I have been charged, I will. Fire Devin and hire someone that will do a better job at managing the gym.
P. S: The one star is just because I can’t post without clicking on at least one, not that it is earned.

I once had an account with Workout Anytime, as did my partner, and I was paying for both memberships via autopay, but I have not even lived in Winston-Salem in five years. I cancelled our memberships multiple times,
mostly over the phone, but also including email (although they do not respond to emails). A couple of years ago, when I had to get a new debit card due to fraud, I got a phone call from Workout Anytime corporate saying that if I didn't update my card, they would send the bill to collections and I'd have a ding on my credit report. I told them that I had repeatedly cancelled the membership. They said that there was nothing they could do to cancel my membership from the corporate end that that I would have to update my card or my credit history would suffer, so I updated my card. I have continuously tried to cancel and have paid for over 4 years worth of unused gym membership because they wouldn’t stop charging my autopay. I eventually got through to someone on the phone sometime last year and they confirmed over the phone that they were cancelling my membership. They did not send written confirmation, even though I asked for an email. When they stopped charging me, I thought this nightmare was over, but I just got a debt collection letter. And now their phone is out of service. I am at my wit's end. I am disputing the debt collection, but there is very little written documentation because they don't send email verification of cancellation. Predatory and dishonest.

Purchased a membership and changed my mind because I'm always busy and working so i decided to cancel the membership before the next payment was even close to being due (NEVER STEPPED A FOOT IN THE PLACE) which came with a cancellation fee of $58.00. Now they have been tryin to take $125.00 dollars out of my account SINCE DECEMBER because they chose to charge the monthly fee plus the cancellation fee and I'm assuming late fees as well. Honestly feel like it was a mistake to even come back here. This gym is falling apart. I enjoyed back in the 2010s but now it's became a shadow of its former self. Broken equipment and an unkept bathroom( which during this pandemic you should be spot on with cleanliness) just makes me wish I could just cancel without having to do anything in person. Smh

I canceled my membership around March 2020, exactly around the time of when Covid began to close down gyms, restaurants and things. You can't cancel over the phone, they make you go up there and fill out a sheet. So, unbeknownst to me- they've been charging my card close to 2 years. They took over $500 from me. I thought I was doing the right thing by going up there to properly cancel; however, they were still charging me. Beware of their shady business practices. This definitely hurts my feelings because I was a member there for a few years prior to Covid. Just terrible!
