Yoga studio Personal trainer Pilates studioAbout the Club
The Tree House Yoga Studio is a gem nestled in the peaceful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Columbus, North Carolina. Each season brings a new view from the private yoga studio: Winter opens up the eyes to the neighboring pasture with a little white barn, horses grazing and the nearby mountains. In Spring and Summer we are enveloped in a canopy of green leaves creating a natural sanctuary with the accompaniment of birds singing and water flowing. In Fall, before the trees surrender their leaves, we are witness to warm golds, bright yellows and vibrant reds that only this time of year brings.

I am a third level dressage rider with FEI aspirations. I took yoga classes with Lori for years (back in my eventing days) and I now take private sessions that include elements of Pilates and yoga.
Our practice has been absolutely essential to me as I move up the levels! My riding instructor may find that I am tight in my left hip, for instance. I tell Lori and she immediately comes up with several exercises to help me with that. Or with my collapsing on one side, or, well, all the things!
In addition, building and maintaining core strength at the age of 65 has been a challenge for me. If I didn’t work with Lori every week, I think I would get lazy and lose tone.
Lori is such a positive person and so much fun to work with! Our work meshes so well with the training I get on the horse. Love it!!!

I'm a 67-year-old beginning dressage rider trying to move up to 2nd level, which means I have to learn how to collect my horse. My riding has improved tremendously since going to Lori's yoga classes! My lower abs are stronger, I'm learning how to isolate different body parts, keep my shoulders back, breathe evenly, and stretch my hips. Lori is a great instructor and offers helpful tips for those who have specific concerns!

I've been having yoga sessions with Lori for a few years now, initially somewhat sporadically but now on a more frequent basis since moving to the area. My job parks me at a workstation for 8-9 hour shifts which is tough on my body, especially at my age. Having 1 hour sessions when off and taking a break for 30 minute sessions during my shifts has been a revelation in pain management. For years I have been taking too many NSAIDS for pain and stiffness. Since working more with Lori I have found that I rarely need them. Our bodies need some inflammation in order to heal properly. NSAIDS like Aleve, etc. block the inflammatory response and carry cardiovascular, gastric and enteric risks. I am convinced that the sessions have benefitted me greatly by stressing my body and allowing it to heal more effectively. I need to do a lot more but feel that I am on the right track. So do yourself a favor and see how she can help you get your body back on track!

The best yoga class I have ever attended. In the past I always felt the need to protect myself from injury . While still reaping the benefits of stretching and strengthening the flow and timing from one position to another was perfection. Lori was attentive to all her students and gently corrected us as needed. Will definitely make her class a part of my weekly health maintenance.

I have been attending yoga classes at Yoga at the Tree House for twelve years. Lori possesses a deep understanding of yoga philosophy, as well as the physical and mental aspects of the practice. I've benefited greatly from her expertise. She does a great job of sequencing each class so they are not repetitious and encourages you to listen to your body and make adjustments as needed. Lori also has a genuine connection with each student on a personal level. I encourage anyone who has not attended her classes to give it a try. I believe you will be surprised how it can boost your mental and physical abilities.

I can highly recommend these classes. Lori is very skilled and knowledgeable and knows how to help students modify poses based on their own limitations. Patient and cheerful, she embodies the important aspects of yoga and makes our time together a very satisfying experience.

Lori has a unique gift in her ability to make yoga totally accessible to everyone—including this 64 yo who had never before tried (too intimidated!). Her focus on form, explanation of what we are doing and why in her cheerful, easy demeanor topped off with supreme patience… she truly is the ideal teacher.
Honestly, no one has helped me more in my recovery from a fractured neck than Lori. My doctors were wonderful, my PTs wonderful, but the overall most good has come from my yoga practice with Lori. I am better now than before the accident! And I will always, always be grateful. …Namaste, Lori!

Lori is phenomenal; one of the best instructors that I have had. She is an excellent teacher with personalized instruction for each student in the class. Her passion and caring flow through her teachings. Yoga on the deck with the surrounding beauty of the trees, frogs, and birds add to the experience, making it one of a kind.

Being my first time ever, I was a little nervous. Lori was incredibly gracious and welcoming, and her instruction was easy to follow. She was so encouraging and I appreciated the ease in which she helped! I am looking forward to taking more classes regularly and could not be happier that we chose the right teacher!

Lori has been an excellent teacher and role model. Her style of teaching is always encouraging as well as congenial. She keenly observes her students and tailors her sessions to their ability. Each class is somewhat different, so it never gets boring. Lori explains the purpose of each pose, and encourages students to improve at every class. She is concerned for student safety and gives tips on adjusting poses to accommodate any pre-existing medical conditions. She is as adept at teaching all levels of ability from novice to expert. Those who are looking for a great yoga experience need look no further.

Lori is the epitome of a good teacher (and I say this as a professional teacher, myself): she is conscientious, present, well-prepared, happy, and clear. This is why we all keep coming back! Would highly recommend to anyone of any level.

Wonderful yoga classes in a beautiful outdoor setting with a thoughtful and excellent teacher who knows so much about how the body works and is able to adapt each position to her students’needs. Lori has worked so hard to adapt her teaching through the pandemic and is offering a remote and on demand option to her classes.

Best yoga classes! Lori is great, very knowledgeable. Understands the individual needs of her students, the movement of the human body, is good at structuring a class to her students’ level, and giving alternative approaches to meet their individual needs. Beautiful and relaxing environment. I had been doing yoga for years in a large city and with Lori for approximately 5 years in Tryon, NC. Her classes are as challenging as you want them to be. The best instructor I have had the pleasure to work with.

Best yoga experience ever! Lori Corda leads excellent classes. Her beautiful, calm delivery helped me tremendously in the beginning to get deeply inside each pose....while helping me build confidence and improving my overall health and balance. I'm usually an impatient person, and her teaching has helped me slow down and center myself. I'm a lot more flexible and I have learned to breathe better. My husband Hans also takes the class and we have noticed that our practice at the Tree House has enhanced our favorite outdoor sport; hiking in these beautiful mountains. There's nothing like feeling balanced while traversing a narrow, rocky trail with a 50 foot drop to one side! Thank you Lori!.
