I've had the pleasure of beginning a Yin teacher training with Joy. We've had just one session so far, and I can already tell that I'm in for a rich experience that will enhance both my personal practice and my teaching abilities. Joy is warm, welcoming, relatable, and masterful in her approach. I can't wait to see what unfolds over the next few weeks as I continue my studies with her.

If you are looking for a place where you can grow in self love, discipline, spiritually, find a piece of mind, learn about your body, and how to connect body, mind and spirit the Yoga Om is for you. Joy will dedicate her time to find out what is it that you are in need off and work with you so you can go thru the obstacles making you bloom in your practice.

This place is very authentic. I am so impressed by the level of expertise and how nice everyone is! They even offered childcare for my three kids so I could make it to my class. I am now attening regularly and absolutely love it!

I can’t say enough great things about this place. I’ve been doing yoga for years, and I’ve tried my fair share of studios but they all seemed more like a workout business than anything else. The Yoga Om is a studio where you grow your practice. Joy, our teacher brings exactly that—joy. The way she teaches and applies the practice to everyday life does not bring ephemeral happiness, but lasting joy that develops from commitment. Although it is ashtanga yoga, her classes are not some predetermined set of postures. She works with each student at their level and with their potential in every class. She KNOWS her students.
If you want music blaring in the background while you practice, this is not the place. If you want a quick workout, this is not the place. This is a school where you’ll learn yoga as practice and tradition, and where you can become a part of the community.
I am deeply grateful to have all of this so close to home. Most people have to pay thousands of dollars to travel to India for a few weeks only to get a taste of what Joy offers to us everyday.

I considered myself inflexible for most of my life. With practice my flexibility would get 20% better but there was ceiling that i would often try to break by force (this usually resulted in some sort of injury). I had never done yoga before so I decided to give it a try.
I am so glad I picked yoga Om to start. I walked in the door to make my body more flexible, instead I found a whole new world of mind body and spirit. Since I began my training 2 months ago I have seen immense progress on the mat.
I initially thought that i could watch a few yoga videos on youtube and i would be all set. However, working with a knowledgeable teacher, you realize there are a plethora of minute details that need to be learned to perform the poses correctly( to prevent injury and to help you progress). Joy is able to spot these issues and correct them on the fly, to help take you deeper into your practice.
through my practice I have come to realize that yoga is not just flexibility and strength of the body, but of the mind as well. On days that I do practice I feel gratitude, greater mental clarity and an odd euphoric sensation( I can only describe this as a cross between a good nights sleep and a "runners high", i'm sure its different for every individual).
Joy has an ocean of wisdom and knowledge but delivers it in digestible chunks, based on your skill level. She pushes you to safely challenge the road blocks in your mind and your body.
Im glad I added yoga to my life and and look forward to enhancing my practice.

Yoga Om is a precious gem. Joy is a highly skilled teacher. Her mastery and understanding of the yoga practice can be felt when I practice under her guidance. As a yoga teacher, I appreciate Joy's ability to see her students and communicate her knowledge of the body in a way that is easily understood. As a beginner to the practice of Ashtanga Yoga, I appreciate Joy's patience as a teacher. The quality of instruction that Joy provides is like nothing else I have experienced. I have been here for two years and the staff, service and instruction has been fantastic. I watch our small group of yogis grow size and develop their abilities. Joy is a blessing, seeing is believing. She has help me and the others so much I don’t know where to begin. I look forward to another year and especially the Yoga retreat.

The atmosphere at the Yoga OM is always so welcoming and peaceful. One of my favorite parts is when the owners daughter, Nina, is helping with the classes and around the studio. She brings so much energy to the studio!!! I would recommend this place to anyone.

Under the mentorship of Joy I was able lead a class in Osho Active Meditation. My first experience with this form of meditation I was a student. I remember after class the undeniable feeling of rejuvenation. Unfortunately I was not able to continue with my practice, something I really cherished. Thanks to this mentorship/partnership opportunity not only am I allowed to practice but now I am teaching,which I find to be much more rewarding. As a life coach I understand that yoga stimulates mindfulness and personal growth. Here is how it is helping me so far:
1. For just a few moments I am able to completely remove myself from the rest of the world and focus on me and my body.
2. I can let go. I have the chance to express myself freely of what ever emotion I am feeling at that time whether it's anger, joy, sadness ect. This part was the hardest for me at first but has become one of my favorites!
3.I am learning to silence my mind
4. I don't think about how others percieve how I am doing during my practice because I realize those who are participating are likely experiencing something similar in their mind body's. truth it's the same way in the real world !
5. I am surrounded my positivity and I invite positivity into my life. Positive thoughts promote good health.
6. My life moves at very fast pace. Yoga helps me to slow down and reflect on where I am in my life and where I am going.
I look forward to learning more about yoga and about about myself through the practice of yoga under Joy's guidance. As a coach it is important to me that I lead by example and not words. Through my practice I able to lead my client's to enlightenment and an abundant life. I am excited about teaching my next class!

Beautiful, open, spacious studio! The atmosphere is very inviting and energizing. The instructor is a true Yogi with a deep knowledge of the practice of Yoga. Convenient times as well as location. Accessible via I-485 as well as back roads. Classes are available for all levels. It's not just a session/lesson, it truly is an empowering experience! Namaste

I recently found the Yoga Om studio in Huntersville and it is truly a Mind Body and Soul experience.
Joy McLeod master Yogi and owner has a beautiful spirit and practices with a traditional holistic and therapeutic approach. The classes vary and accommodate all levels from beginners, intermediate, advanced and spiritually oriented.
They also offer massages, I had the Reiki massage with Mina. She was amazing !!
Reiki massage is an exchange of energy. I felt as if a huge weight was lifted from my body. I slept like a baby that evening. Mina also did a head flow that's done with essential oils massaged into the scalp and head. This was as if Mina released the pressure from the top of my head and shoulders.
With every package purchased at The Yoga Om a complimentary massage is offered. I suggest you book yours with Mina and get a Reiki massage or Head flow.

Always a wonderful experience and such a great place to challenge one's practice. Joy is such an awesome instructor and has so much knowledge to share. If you're thinking about starting yoga, or have been at it for some time, Yoga Om is the way to go!
