The gym and trainers are great the only problem is the person who cleans. He will run a vacuum cleaner for an hour straight and is very hard to focus. I already wrote one complaint to their office but seems like its been ignored and they don't care about my fitness goals just my money

If I could give a negative review I would. Hidden fees. They told me 24 bucks a month turned out to be biweekly and every quarter you have a pay another fee. I was curious about joining so I walked in and got to talk to Christian. He gave me the full run down of his facility and he was very kind and informed about the place! The gym was very clean, and everything seemed very high quality.

I tried to cancel in person, but my membership still renewed for 2 years. I had to call ABC Financial and still had to pay a $50 fee even though I tried to cancel months before my contract ended.

The only stairmaster was broken for months (at least February - June of 2025, I stopped going in June) and the gym felt generally neglected. It’s not worth the increasingly high price.

I loved this gym when I started going in August 2023, but with the quality declining and misleading contract practices my experience here ended bad. Be careful before deciding to enter into a contract.

Editing to add: they repeatedly called me after I left my review and then emailed me requesting I take my review down (note that they also incentivize reviews and ask for 5 stars in the gym). I also checked the Better Business Bureau and they have an F rating with 239 complaints and 146 complaints that are not responded to.

I received the refund.

The membership manager, Josh, emailed me this morning and Christian (the manager of the bg location) also left me a voicemail letting me know that they did put in the request for a refund but they use a third party to process payments and it's out of their hands while that third party processes the refund.

8/10/35:
I posted the original review on July 31 around 5pm and they contacted me at 644pm with a resolution. The training manager (her name is Tiana from napoleon, not fostoria) I referenced below left me a voicemail apologizing for the experience. She let me know that the membership manager agreed to cancel my membership effective immediately and they would refund my last payment of $28.xx. She then stated that she knew it would be a big ask but requested I take down my original review, which I did. I saved the voicemail. However, in an absolutely shocking turn of events, they have not followed through and I have yet to receive the refund they offered. I did give them 6 business days for it to clear, but it is not there. I am reposting that review with this update as they seem unwilling to honor anything they say and I want others to not be put in the same position to deal with this.

The original review:

Back in May, the previous manager was making racist comments about African Americans. One instance was in front of my gym trainer and nothing was done to address it. I let my trainer know that I wanted to cancel my membership after my contract was up (end of July). I was consistent in this communication to the personal trainer. Due to health issues, I was unable to continue to utilize the gym. However, there is a clause that says that we can't break the contract unless I am permanently disabled. They also will not honor what their fitness trainer says. He sent me a text that he cleared it with his boss, Drew Melton, but Drew said that it was just a misunderstanding even though the exchange was extremely clear. That aside, I went to sign the paperwork for the trainer to tell me that they aren't canceling my membership, just the trainings and that I would have to talk to the manager (a new manager was hired). After discussing it with him (the new GM) and the woman training him (I believe she is the GM from fostoria), they said I would have to call a number. That number said that I needed to send an email. I let them know what was going on and they said they would send an email to the fitness manager (the GMs boss) to allow me to quit immediately. The training GM manager also said they would send an email as did Drew. That was Tuesday, 7/22/25 and I have yet to be contacted. I did follow up with Drew on Tuesday (7/29/25) that I was looking forward to the manager over the membership decisions reaching out by the end of day Thursday. Drew did not respond and the other manager did not reach out. Not only did they not honor a change of contract that was given in writing by their fitness trainer, but are also refusing to contact me to cancel the membership which forces me to keep paying them for something I can't and no longer want to use.

DO NOT under any circumstances get a membership here. You can request to cancel your membership as many times as you like, but they will still siphon money out of your bank account no matter what. I have been attempting to cancel my membership for almost two years now and they sent me to collections after I opened a new bank account and closed the one they had.

Their financial practices alone are incredibly predatory. My contract was supposed to be up after 1 year of my membership, and they were pulling money from me on the back end for over 2 more years after that. No matter how many times I tell them I want to cancel my membership, they say they will get it sorted, and do absolutely nothing about it.

I am very disappointed with my experience at Anytime Fitness. The gym is constantly overcrowded, and much of the equipment is not just old but unsafe to use. I've seen several machines that are broken or malfunctioning, and despite frequent complaints, nothing has been done to address these hazards.

The cleanliness of the facility is appalling. The locker rooms and bathrooms are always a mess, with overflowing trash bins and unclean surfaces that make it clear they haven't been properly sanitized in a long time. The general uncleanliness makes it an uncomfortable place to be, let alone exercise.

The staff's attitude adds to the frustration. They seem indifferent and are rarely helpful. When I reported issues with the equipment, the response was dismissive, which is unacceptable in a service-oriented business.

Additionally, their membership policies are incredibly deceptive. They promote their memberships as flexible and straightforward but fail to disclose hidden fees and an incredibly complicated cancellation process. It took me countless frustrating calls and visits to not even be able to cancel my membership !!! A SCAM!

This is a great gym in BG and there is no judgement towards anyone. If you struggle with coming up with a Gym Routine or your form when lifting weights, I highly recommend looking into getting a Personal Trainer. They are very professional and will help you until you are comfortable being on your own..

Used to belong to this gym about 5 yrs ago until planet fitness came to Bowling Green. When the manager didn't like my review on Facebook they made it so I couldn't comment. The membership was more here and any extras like a trainer or the tanning were extra. If my husband wanted to go to the gym with me it cost him $5 every time. Whereas with planet fitness we are both black members so we get used to the gym, a trainer if we want one, Tanning which by the way they have booths or beds,plus other privileges as well as being able to take a guest at no extra cost. I did like the trainers at Anytime just not the manager at that time. I was not mean about my thoughts but I did not think it was fair to be basically silenced because I was not happy.

Their element training company straight up stole $420 from me after I have been saying for months I was going to be done when my one year was up and I was tricked into another month which, as a single mom with no income, is a lot, and they can't reimburse me. One of the worst experiences with a business in my life. Not professional and the manager will take days to get back to you. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS GYM. You will end up paying more than you can even think of. I informed them to cancel my account and they continued to charge me because my cancellation letter (which was delayed because of COVID-19) arrived so late. They rarely answer the phone and will not return messages. This is an unprofessional gym and I cannot stress enough that THEY WILL SCREW YOU OVER IN SOME WAY. Whether its fees or just not being available to talk to. I hope they comment “sorry about this but its our policy or you didnt cancel” but sorry won’t give me my money back and the lack of customer support is astounding during a NATIONAL PANDEMIC. 1/10 staff led by a 0/10 regional manager. I was told I was being signed up for a 1 year plan, it turns out I was signed up for a two year plan without my knowledge. The staff will not return my calls. I have called three times, i was told i would get a call back once the manager talked to his boss but it has been almost a month. Terrible place. I signed up for the “get the summer for free” deal, which lets you sign up in June and not pay until September. Was not told whatsoever that I was entering a binding contract for any length of time, let alone THREE YEARS. I wouldn’t commit to anything for that long, I don’t even know if I’ll have the same job 2 years from now. I never would’ve signed up if they had said anything about three years, but I was the first customer this guy signed up since he was hired. The staff is terrible and there’s borderline harassment... they won’t stop calling and texting you, if you bring a guest, they won’t stop calling and texting your guest. The only way you can get money off your monthly fee is if you refer a friend, but who would refer someone knowing that they’re going to get harassed? You can’t cancel through the gym, you have to talk to ABC financial, who is absolutely zero help. Cant say anything about the other locations, but I’d stay far away from this one.

Worst gym membership experience hands down. This place has very few machines, terrible tanning beds, and when I moved and tried to get out of my contract A YEAR AGO, it has been absolute hell. They have zero respect for their customers and keep trying to get more and more money out of me in order to cancel my subscription. Had a great time working out with Justin. Thought I signed up for a one year contract, as my contract had a very clearly stated end date. It automatically renewed, including a personal training contract(after I'd left the area). I cancelled my contract, per the "Certified Letter to processor" method. Only then did I find out my training isn't through "the club", but rather a separate company entirely I've NEVER HEARD THE NAME OF, and I have to cancel with them directly, with a separate 30 day notice.

There are better options available.

In 2017 I lost 60lbs working out at Anytime Fitness! When I first joined I wasn’t so sure of myself and the staff was very welcoming, answering any question I had. The staff greets you by name, it’s like a gym family they are very supportive of your goals n give great advice. There was a couple months that my payday didn’t align with my payment date, but Jake was very helpful with post pining it a couple days, so I was able to avoid the overdraft fee all it took was a little communication. This is a great gym with very caring and supportive staff! Plus the tanning beds are amazing!

I am a Military Veteran, and I was told that I was signing up for the Anytime Fitness “Military Appreciation Program”. I was told that I was getting a discount, and that I would be able to cancel my membership at anytime. I was told that is a “company policy” of Anytime for Veterans, Retired, etc... I did get a small discount, but when I tried to cancel because I was dissatisfied with the facility, I was told that I had to pay the full balance of the 2-year contract. The person that signed me up had been fired for an unrelated issue, and everybody that I spoke to at Anytime told me that ‘I would not have been told that, because there is no such exemption’. The person that signed me up flat out lied to sell a contract, and then nobody at Anytime, all the way up to the Regional Office level, would stand behind their brand. They all basically told me that I am out of luck. This place is bad news. I have never had a worse experience with the lack of integrity at a business, of any kind.

First, I will say that Jake and Katie at Anytime fitness are absolutely awesome, and have inspired me greatly, but like other reviews I've read..they are way overpriced and stick you with contracts you didn't sign up for! My husband and I both signed up last year around the end of November, I took advantage of the cyber Monday deal, so was only locked into a 1 year contract. A few days later my husband signed up and was told he was on the same plan as mine..now they keep saying that he signed up for 3 years! Oh and my husband was told that my membership would be cancelled out..well, lo and behold I checked our bank account today and they have taken money from our account!! That's it! They will take the money from your account even if you have no money they will overdraw your account. Also it's supposed to be "Anytime" a 24/7 fitness center that offers specials like tanning. Except they don't tell you that a worker has to be there for things like tanning and that a worker is only there during 'regular businesses hours' so if you work 2ed or 3ed shift you're screwed out of that despite the pact that you still pay for it. I really enjoyed working out at Anytime. Ill be at the BGSU rec now, because I want to workout with my friends in college. Regardless, Anytime had great equipment and the 24 hour aspect really seals the deal. I worked out there for almost 14 days straight. I went various times (morning, noonish, evening, night) and it never seemed to be crowded, which was nice. However, working out with my friends outweighs the perks of Anytime. Goodbye Anytime, I will miss you.

I do take issue with the picture that comes up when you search Anytime Fitness. The people in the picture are smiling when they workout...people shouldn't smile while they work out. People should be showing signs of exertion and suffering, telling themselves "one more rep".
