Nothing had changed in my previous reviews. They added an IR/red light sauna which is an awesome addition. I love this place and the people are wonderful. Wonderful place to workout. Very nice place. The owners are great. Probably the cleanest gym I have ever been a member of, and I have belonged to many. It's small but they use the space very efficiently and have everything one could need. I really enjoy going there every day. They make you feel like family

I recently faced a frustrating experience with this fitness facility. Due to a sudden reassignment to another part of Ohio, my nearest location became an hour away. I attempted to cancel my membership by leaving multiple voicemails, but unfortunately, I received no follow-up or assistance from the local staff. I eventually reached out to the corporate office and was assured that my situation was being handled. However, I was dismayed to discover yesterday that my credit report shows an unpaid debt of $219 related to this membership.
Overall, my experience has been disappointing, and I would not recommend this facility based on my current experience.

Make sure you know what you’re getting charged. It was not disclosed to me that you are charged bi-weekly not monthly. I actually talked to a manager at a different anytime fitness and she said that she’s had 3 people tell her that this happened to them here. I now pay $10 less at planet fitness for a nicer gym with way more benefits. The younger woman that works here is super nice.
Post Note; the person who signed me up at planet fitness also used to work at this specific anytime fitness and they said this location is run poorly.

Nice that’s it’s open 24hrs and usually you don’t have to wait for a machine but holy cow, the weight lifting equipment is definitely something left to be desired. Nearly everything is very old and deteriorating. Grips torn, cushions cracked, equipment clunky. Invest is some good machines for the price you pay for a membership.

Why doesn't this place just discontinue their use of contracts? They seem to be where most of the animosity derives from... do the contracts really serve a significant purpose? Other than the business trying to lock up/maximize profits. Do you really need to charge people who've informed you that they're no longer coming? It seems that you are intentionally taking money from people who aren't using your services.
End the "con" contracts. Allow people to pay month/month and if they ever decide to leave..... they and their friends/family would likely return to your business someday.

I have been a member for a little over 2 years and have no regrets about joining. The staff and other members are all very friendly, I have never had a bad experience at this gym.

I recently signed up for the one-on-one training sessions with Terence and was very nervous at first, but he has made the experience very comfortable and has taken the time to understand my goals and has done an incredible job of pushing me to reach my goals. He has been awesome.

The Chestnut Commons in Elyria Anytime Fitness franchise is EXCELLENT. The staff, facility, atmosphere .. well, everything .. provided a very positive experience for me. I was welcomed and Crystal/Sarah both truly listened to my experiences elsewhere AND listened to my goals. There is no doubt I made an excellent decision to join ANYTIME FITNESS @ Chestnut Commons in Elyria.

It's a gym. Good prices, good equipment, keyboard entry 24/7/365. Emergency buttons available (like life alert) if you're alone and concerned you might get hurt. Bathrooms with private showers. Classes and trainers available. Kangoo classes look fun.

This place is still trying to charge my card after I told them ( in a text message exchange) to cancel membership. Claiming that I owe late fees for a membership I haven't used in over a year. In my eyes you received enough free money that adds up to any cancelation fees . The other week you tried to charge me $39 but today you tried $113 . 1 thing for sure and 2 for certain you will never get another dime for me .

Clean gym nice and quiet plenty of machines and free weights not to mention a full bathroom with shower (if you so desire to use it) as well as a studio with cardio ropes they also offer classes and fitness consultations overall worth the monthly fee if you are looking to get fit did I mention it's open 24hrs a day

I wish I could give zero stars! The owner of this place is so rude and unprofessional. I used this gym for about a month or 2 before covid caused the shutdown. I never once complained about paying for my membership since I had sympathy for all the businesses being forced to close. I only became a member here bc I worked in the area which also ended with covid, I live nearly an hour away. I called to find out how to cancel my membership after a year (March 2021) and the guy said just come in. I came in there and the owner was so rude that I didn’t have an appointment to cancel. I told her that her employee told me just to stop in during business hours and her reply was “well you must have called in the evening.” She then tried to convince me I could go to another facility and not cancel and when I tried to explain to her that I live a minimum of 40 minutes away from all of them she just got more rude and snotty. She said my membership wasn’t up until the end of March and I had to come back then to cancel. Seriously!?!? So I called again to cancel, nothing. I emailed the company directly to cancel, nothing. Then I get a text from her cell phone to come in, I explain that I cannot come in there during business hours bc I work and I’m nowhere close to there during the day and again request my membership be canceled. She says mail a letter requesting cancellation.
So, I have physically gone in there, emailed, texted and sent a letter requesting my membership be canceled and that my card not be charged again and here we are in June and she is STILL charging my card!!! I have literally had to consult an attorney. Absolutely ridiculous and horrible!!!!

I've been a member of Anytime Fitness when I lived in Colorado and really enjoyed my experience. So, when I came to Ohio, I was glad to see an anytime fitness near me. I signed up for a week trial and the representative suggested I pay a deposit for a keyfob so I could use the club when it was unstaffed. Ultimately, I decided to join a different gym, and so I placed the key fob in an envelope and placed it under the managers door with all of my information for the refund. It's been about two weeks and the club says they never received a keyfob. I'd highly recommend staying away from this gym because they won't return your deposit, and when you inquire, they'll accuse you of lying. Shame.

I called in January and was assured my account was canceled and my last charge would be January. I kept getting charged, called multiple times and left tons of voicemails. Finally got a hold of them 3 months after. They said I have to come in to cancel because they can not verify or ask me personal questions on the phone. I don’t even live close to there anymore and I’m over 8 months pregnant. So they told me I can send them a letter stating my name and I want to cancel... how is this any better then on the phone. (Even though I was told on the phone in January my members was canceled) Refused to refund me even thu it took them 3 months to respond to me... just a way to get money out of people.

I felt that the owner was rude! Instead of taking time to learn more about the Active & Fit program her that gym has signed up to participate in, her response after I inquired about the guest pass offered as part of the program was immediately “No, we don't honor Fit & Active Guest passes. As the owner of two Anytime Fitness Clubs I have never heard of Fit & Active Guest Pass. - Crystal from Anytime Fitness”. This could have been a good opportunity for her to LEARN more about the program and gain a new member, but obviously this gym is not as “welcoming” as they claim to be.

Not only do they charge you an extra $90 for club improvements when you sign up. If you choose to do the month to month plan, when you decide to cancel your membership they charge you for an extra month weeks after you cancel. Their excuse is you should have read the whole disclaimer on the bottom. I could have if you didnt say just sign this and we can cancel your member ship, then take it away instantly. Totally horrible experience with dealing with the workers here. Oh and if you loose your keyfob you have to buy another for $25 and they wont refund you when you found the one you lost.

Reply: I was not able to fill it out due to your employee just handing my a paper and telling me where to sign. She than took it back and said she will have it set a side for Crystal to take care of. No mention of extra payments or 30 days. Nothing. At the time I came in and cancelled, i consider my membership finalized, and I will not be excepting any further bills or charges to my person. I would recommend you update your employees on your policys about paper work and Key Fob refunds.

I held a membership here far longer then I should have because it was close to home. Owner was extremely rude to my wife when she decided to cancel her membership while still under contract, which we didn't mind buying out and/or paying fees for. The female owner told my wife, and I quote, "this is me trying to be nice." If you want a 24/7 facility close to this location I recommend maximize fitness on 83 in North Ridgeville. My wife's a member there now and the owner is a sweet heart.

Everyone pretty much minds their own business and focuses on what they’re doing which is great, the space is pretty small but there is enough equipment as a beginner. Don’t like that the gym has “unstaffed hours” though. Don’t think that’s very safe/professional. But to each ones own I guess. Not much room to do floor exercises unless you go into the separate room they have for classes. The kind of “Smith machine” they have doesn’t have padding for back when lifting on shoulders or hips. Not a fan of that. So to be completely honest, I don’t think it’s worth the price.

Edited: Thank you @AnytimeFitness for correcting me on that. When I went for my 7 Day Free Trial an Associate or Manager let me go and explore the gym last minute yesterday. So I couldn’t find the items or ask questions about the machines since the person left. Which, again, is why I think the unstaffed hours is very unefficient. If someone gets hurt and no associate is there to assist or call for help that would look poorly. I liked the gym. Think there can be improvements, just my opinion. Also, maybe not replying to customers through text because of a review and basically saying they aren’t welcome because of it you would get a higher rating updated review.

Definitely DO NOT LIKE the new Compel Fitness Trainers at the Avon, Ohio GYM. More like used car salesman.
They had GREAT Trainers and Staff at Avon before.

Inconsistent on the cleanliness, I go in late night/early morning and either there is no music or it's blasting. The ceiling fans are the same. When equipment breaks they are slow to fix it if they even do, some times it just disappears and the put something else in. The only reason Planet fitness hasn't got my business is after 10hrs at work I know I won't drive out of my way to go to the gym.
