I met with the owner, Gage, on 8/27 and appreciated his time. However, there were repeated miscommunications afterward. I was told he’d be in earlier than the posted 10–7 staffed hours, but staff weren’t present when I arrived. Then I received an appointment confirmation (and even a call+voicemail) for a meeting I never scheduled.

Screenshots are attached for clarity. I did understand the official hours, but the ongoing confusion made me uncomfortable.

I wish this gym the best and hope others have smoother experiences.

Thanks for clarifying the staffed hours—I did understand they were 10–7. The part that was most confusing for me was receiving appointment a confirmation and even a call for a meeting I hadn’t scheduled (see attached screenshots). In town visiting family and wanted to work out. My Wife and I called ahead, we didn't know if we needed a fob or if there was staff onsite. We were met by the owner and showed around. The facility is well equipped for both cardio and weight training. A filtered water fill up is available, and there's even a shower if you need it. TVs on the walls for watching while resting in between sets. If I was a local, this would be my gym.

Locked my keys, and other belongings in the gym at 1:30 am. Called the help number on the door in which a gentleman named Doug answered quickly. Doug told me how to get back in using my phone as the fob. I was able to finish my workout and gather my things without having to wait til morning. A true life saver (not mention polite and respectful.) never had a customer service as efficient and helpful as him. Thank you Doug.

I'm a newer member of Anytime Fitness, and I am so happy I made the decision to join this gym versus the other options in Wapak. The staff are great - very friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The facility, equipment, and amenities are maintained very well.

And I have to drive to the original location to cancel after I've moved away!!?? I can't do it over the phone or email like ANY other gym! They just try to make it as difficult as possible to keep overcharging you for this terrible gym.
Planet fitness is WAY bigger and WAY cheaper. And you can CANCEL your membership WHENEVER you want! No stupid CONTRACTS! Who wants to be in a freaking contract with the gym? WORST MISTAKE IVE EVER MADE. PLEASE GO OUT OF BUSINESS

I just joined a week ago .here in Wapakoneta Oh.and I been working out since the spring of 2023 .and I left my old gym cause of immature kids there .faulty equipment and .non cleanliness .this place is always clean and a great selection of machines free weights .classes and special groups .trainers are there throughout the day .really knowledgeable staff .great initiatives.not to crowded .lots of parking .so many amenities you will never get board stop by this month 1 dollar to join .what do you have to loose but your bad health .

Update 3: This place is NEVER staffed!!

Update 2: Bathrooms are working, but the toilets are covered in urine. This place is not cleaned regularly.

Update: One bathroom is filthy, hasn't been cleaned in at least two weeks, urine everywhere. The other bathroom has been "out of order" for at least two weeks.

I really don't understand all the low ratings. I've been going here for about a month now. The place is well lit and very clean. They have all the equipment I need and it's in very good condition.

im a member of the af in coldwater michigan and i have a friend that lives in the wapakoneta area and she is ready to get into shape and wants to join a gym... i love my af the coaches are amazing and she will need some small group so i look up the wapakoneta af and im concerned with some of the reviews..i hope this af will help her reach her fitness goals....(update) TJ she says seems to have it together though, i hope so because i sold her that AF was the best for support and coaching (based on my local AF)

Very dirty facility that is embezzling your money that you pay for extra to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation and maintenance of the facility. Windows have not been cleaned for at least 6 months there is literally tree seeds from the spring stuck in cobwebs on the windows. And it's almost October. Restrooms have toilet paper strewn everywhere. Manager is in at this time and it's dirty like that. Anyone who uses a facility currently should contact county prosecutor's office for embezzlement of funds because there's quite possibly $10,000 a month that is not being used for the correct purposes. Eric the manager told me at 10:30 am it's not in their contract to clean the facility completely. So do what I did, issue a stop payment on all anytime fitness transactions through your financial institution.

Place is a joke for what they charge they screw you out of the whole free month for sending them referrals and then charge you more money when canceling your membership so make sure you read all the fine print they also charge you twice a year a fee to help with maintenance you get more for your money at the YMCA especially if you have a family cause its $63.17 for a family membership at YMCA and for just my wife and I it was $64.32 at Anytime fitness and they have NO basketball courts NO pool NO Hot tub so please do your own research and see what is best for you

Worst gym. Awful management. Don't pay their employees. They wonder why they never have staff, talk to anyone who works there. There is a reason he has 3.1 stars. Terrible gym. I've been to over 100 gyms in my life. This one is the worst. Mr. Wilson is a terrible person and upper management for that establishment. Gym will eventually not be profitable if he works there. I signed up for a monthly plan and was told that I would be paying $24.66 a month after 2 months free which I thought was an awesome deal. I find out that I was actually enrolled into a biweekly payment plan and charged 24.66 twice a month. This was after the manager convinced me that I would be saving more money this way because I was paying for the entire year up front. It is way more expensive this way, for the price I am paying now I could get a membership at the YMCA which is a way more respectable place than this. I talked to a Tasha trying to get it rectified and she was very unhelpful and said I could not cancel my membership even though I was lied to. This place is absolutely dishonest; so if you are looking for a better gym, just do yourself a favor and go to the YMCA.

Downside is the price. After monthly dues and bi-annual fees, the overall price per month is about $42; with a 3 year contract.

Bottom line is = it’s just a Gym. All you get is a workout. It’s a $19.99 per month gym that you will pay $42 a month for.

Clean, friendly staff also has quite A few more amenities than most of the other anytimes.
I have noticed people complaining about the contracts which nobody likes contracts but as with anything read the fine print and ask questions before you sign anything and if you do not like what's in it then you do have other choices. For me this is an awesome deal having to travel all over America and knowing Ill have A consistent clean place to work out and not have to deal with people trying to steal my stuff or ask me for money or cigarettes.

I canceled my gym membership at another gym and chose to pay not much, but a little more to go to this location because it’s within walking distance of my house. The trainers were very friendly at first. I do not feel the need for a personal trainer nor is it in my budget after I declined so did their customer service. They only focus on members who use the personal training services ( which is fine this is my me time!) and invade personal space of others using the gym space to make sure we all know they are training. Not to mention the BRO TIME of all the trainers when they don’t have clients. If we aren’t going to social distance at least open up the treadmills so we can all enjoy ourselves. Another plus of this location was I could tan I. The same place as I work out. Instead they have been without management. Today I was turned away from the gym because the new manager of 3 weeks took vacation and he is the only one who knows how to use the beds is what I was told. So bummed I am stuck in a contract here.

I signed up to use the gym which is nice, great facility, but what makes me one star this place is the dirty business practices that deal with your contract, i was charged almost over 200 dollars extra in the first 2 months of having the gym membership and they said they couldn't do anything about it except change it from every two weeks to every month per payment, they wouldn't even let me out of the contract with them without paying like 350 (halve of the 3 year contract) or something along those lines even tho i was over charged. Its super sad that places just take money however they can without respecting their people who feed them because the staff is very friendly and like i said the gym is a very nice place.
