Let me just say I cant say enough great things about this place, my son is 3 yrs old and the first month was rough getting him to come to swim lessons..he would cry before and during swim lessons but the staff here has been nothing but amazing! We had Allison as an instructor who has left aqua tots and she was great and then theres Sophie who is an amazing instructor as well! she made my kid feel more comfortable in the water & the progress he has made is amazing! he LOVES coming here now thanks to the staff & coach Sophie!!

I have two daughters. One of whom took lessons at another swim place and is no longer interested in even trying to swim. The other is actively taking lessons at Aqua Tots for more than half of her two-year-old life. She loves it and I do, too. I truly feel she's making great progress. Though Aqua Tots is in a strip mall and is pretty small compared to other swim places, it's a vastly better experience. I paritcularly want to shout out Allison K for her work, always being constructive and playful with her feedback setting up my daughter for success. Can't recommend classes taught by her (and all lessons taught at Aqua Tots) enough.

Professional (edit: not as professional and does not understand internet anonymity), not much swim time.
For the 30minute class my child is only off the wall practicing skills for between 3 and 5 minutes. When I was a summer camp swim instructor we always had an additional lifeguard/instructor guiding the group in something to do instead of only taking turns with 1 on 1 instruction.

The cost of one class per week is the same as a whole family membership (less if you’re local) to the Westerville community center pools.

They run things very well, are kind and the kids fell safe. I just believe they should have made their pool with a shallow end to accommodate their young clientele and that your money and time would be better spent on a pool membership to learn to swim together instead of watching though the glass.

We've been with Aqua Tots for several years between my two sons. My older son has graduated from the program, and my younger son recently advanced to level 7/8. Both kids have learned to be confident swimmers through the Aqua Tots program, and I appreciate the confidence I have in their ability to be safe in a pool. We've had numerous Aqua Tots coaches over the years, but my kids have had a great experience across the board with coaches who have earned their trust and helped them to improve. From my perspective as the parent: I am constantly impressed with the coaches' ability to remain calm even during lessons when a child is not behaving. The coaches are under a lot of pressure considering parents are right in front of them watching everything! The front desk staff is always happy to help in any way possible. We especially love Coach Mike and Ms. Hannah.
Lessons are on the more expensive side, but they offer added amenities that you won't see elsewhere (coffee, hair dryer, detangling spray, etc). It's also near impossible to do much without downloading the app, which for me is a negative.

For the most part we are happy with this Aqua Tots, however the waiting area is horrendous and the reason for the 3 star review. The staff needs to do a better job to make sure parents with kids who are IN their swim lessons have seats in front of the glass. It’s usually occupied with inconsiderate parents and their multiple kids who haven’t gone in for their lessons yet. The staff should instruct those parents to sit in chairs that are in the outer perimeter until their kids are in their lesson.

Aqua tots started out great. The instructor was great, she was engaging, my child loved coming to lessons, the feed back was great. For about 4 months. Since then my child has had 5+ different instructors and has been doing the same lesson for over 6 months. The progression isn't fast enough, the inconsistency in the actual lesson when you have multiple instructors, and the lack of challenge is the problem here.

I would HIGHLY recommend AquaTots Westerville! We have been going here since my 4 year old daughter was in the infant class and I can’t say enough great things about the staff and leadership team here. The swim coaches and manager, coach Ryan, are wonderful. My daughter had an off day this week and instead of just letting her give up, her swim coach notified me and coach Ryan right away. Coach Ryan stepped in and provided encouragement and grace in a critical teaching moment for her that went well beyond a swim lesson, but also taught my daughter to be brave and self confident. I love that every skill being taught to both my children is something with safety in mind. The front desk ladies already know is which makes the school so welcoming. The regular feedback from the coaches is amazing and being able to track their progress in the app is wonderful! My kids are learning and for one of them it's a fun experience. Molly is awesome! She's is the main reason we keep coming back! Scheduling can be a bit tricky, especially make ups, but they are very accommodating and do try to work with you.

We have been using Aqua-tots for over a year. Both kiddos are making progress with comfort and skills. The best part about Aqua-tots is how accommodating they have been, especially with one of my kiddos who has a hard time adjusting to change. My daughter has had a fear of water since she was an infant even though she has never had any traumatic experience with water; so once she turned 4, and wasn’t getting over her fear of water I knew I needed professional help. We have been attending Aqua-tots in Westerville for the last 3 months and have had a great experience. My son is just learning to swim and has been loving these classes. We've had quite a few instructors and Teagan has, by far, been the best. She is outstanding with the kids and truly cares about their progress. The only constructive criticism I'd share is that we've had a lot of schedule changes in these 3 months and that can be tough for young kids with early bedtimes. I do understand we joined during the summer and that staffing likely changed as school resumed. This was not a deal breaker though. Our overall experience has still been excellent!

Their class makeup policy is absolutely ridiculous, you pay about $145 for your first month starting off but if you miss a day without them knowing because they don’t answer the phone you don’t get to make up that class. They get their money and you get what they WANT to give you. Also this African American female there I don’t know her name, she’s tall, has black & brown short hair. She works at the front desk, she’s rude and stuck up. Definitely will be going to a different location although the swim teachers themselves are sweet and caring, at least the ones my daughter has interfered with. Ryan who handles customer service is awesome as well, That’s the pro’s of this place. But beware of the beginning they’ll tell you all these policies but won’t tell you parts that they don’t want you to know.

We chose Aquatots because of the proximity to our house and because it's a little bit cheaper than some of the other lessons in the area. I'm a former lifeguard and swim lessons instructor- I've taught at almost every program in Central Ohio and I can say that there are multiple programs that are far better than this one. I did both the class in the water with my two year old and a beginner class for my four year old. The teacher in the parent/child class does literally nothing. There are no recommendations on how to coax a child onto their back or how to soothe a nervous child in the water, hardly any interaction between the teacher and the children, there are no skills being demonstrated- it's just 30 minutes of playing with my two year old while a teenager who clearly has no idea what they're doing watches. My four year old's class seems similar- I have yet to see her attempt to float independently, push off the wall, do any kind of stroking- literally all I see her do is jump in and sit on the side. It's a total waste of time and money.

In the four months we've been at the swim school, we've had three separate lessons outright cancelled, usually the morning of classes. I was informed there was no one to sub, however today when my 2 year old's class was cancelled, there were two deck supervisors, a manager, and my daughter's class- which got out TEN MINUTES EARLY- had two instructors. In other places I've worked with a similar set up to Aquatots, a manager gets in the water, a front desk person- there's always someone to get in. Never, in the fifteen years I've taught swim lessons, have I seen classes cancelled because there's no one available. I'm actually kind of stunned at how bad this experience has been. We sacrificed quality for proximity and will not be doing that again in the future. We're only staying through August because we've been billed for the month already and we have about 4 make-ups left on our account. Otherwise, we would have already withdrawn.

Mason is extremely good with young children and is on the high school swim team! My son loves him. Mason teaches each child to their comfort level while working on the skills required in the level. I am truly grateful for the progress my boys have shown in a relatively a short period of time. Although it has been almost a year, they only attend once a week. Yet, they have gone from being afraid of the water to working on bettering their back stroke! The classes have been consistent despite a couple of schedule changes on our part! I have absolutely no complaints.

I am not at all impressed with this place. My 4 year old started in February in the water confidence class. The classes are small, maybe 3-4 kids each time, but they barely do anything in the 25 minutes they are allotted. They spend most of the time hanging out by the side of the pool, jumping in maybe once and attempting to float maybe once. The rest of the time they are watching, doing nothing themselves. It seems the classes are structured to maximize profit for the center, requiring way more classes than should be necessary by teaching nothing in each class. I thought maybe it was me, so I asked my parents to take him to one class, asking after what they thought. Unprompted, they said it wasn't what they expected and that it was a waste of time and money. I can pay for a private instructor for what this center costs. After 3 months, my 4 year old is now terrified of the water. The last couple lessons he has been in tears begging not to go. This class was supposed to build his confidence, but has done the exact opposite. Now I will have to work to undo the damage they have caused. Obviously, we will be cancelling classes.
A note on the center, it seems to be run entirely by high-schoolers. In our time here, we had just one coach who was any good, but her wan't an actual coach, just stepping in to help one day. Had he been the consistent instructor, I think this review would be much different.

The instructors and staff almost bring Aqua-tots to a 5 star by themselves. They are amazing and caring. Coach Mason, Emily and Jordanne were out of this world awesome, and we appreciate all they did. Aside from them, everyone was awesome, when we had subs, the staff at the front desk, everyone was helpful and willing to do what they could to make your experience great.

To give this an honest review, there are a couple things that could be improved to point out.
1 - Sundays are packed. There is a good chance you will have to wait for a changing room after class to get changed. If you can pick an evening, it will be much more relaxed. There are a main set of chairs that overlook the pool, they are really hard to get on Sundays.
2 - They often run classes on both sides of the short lengths of the pool. When they are practicing their swim moves, it is common for kids to run into each other or nearly run into each other. The teachers do their best to not have this happen, but it is just too crowded to run classes on both sides. In the pool, they have 10 zones, so could run up to 10 classes.
3 - Substitutes for your child's teacher happen often. We really wanted to stick with 1 teacher for both kids so they kind of knew the kids, but there seems to be a lot of subbing. Sometimes they will let you know, sometimes they won't. The down side of subbing is you know your kids won't move up when they have a sub. It is just going to be a week of practice even if they are ready.

All of these little things can be overlooked because of the amazing people. We originally had our kids in Westerville Community Swim Lessons, but they had classes of like 10, where these classes have a max of 4 and are more helpful to develop skills and get your child to learn much quicker.

What's not to LOVE! The staff is excellent and you feel like family! They really try to remember something special about each child and do a great job communicating with parents on progress.
