Pretty disappointed with my latest experience at Darby Creek. Usually play this course 4-5 times a year, but I won't be back any time soon.

I show up 25 min early for my round, only to find out there is a 45 min delay due to frost. Not ideal, but I understand that can happen this time of year. I buy some range balls and go to hit them thinking I have an hour plus before my tee time. Well about 40 minutes later I get called to the tee box and have to leave half a bucket of range balls and didn't get to putt... great communication.

We then proceed to take two hours and fifty minutes to play the front 9 as they were just sending people off as fast as they could to make up for the frost delay. Waiting 10-15 minutes on every hole to tee off, sometimes having 3 groups on a single tee box. It was the most miserable golfing experience I've ever had.

I came in at the turn to ask for my money back, as I didn't want to take another 3 hours to play nine holes, and we very likely wouldn't have finished before the sun went down anyway.

Instead of being apologetic about how poorly handled the day was on their part, I was treated with rudeness and disrespect. I live almost an hour away from this course, so I was already pretty upset I drove all that way only to play 9 holes. I was then told that I couldn't have my money back for the holes we didn't play because "they don't do that here". Instead I was offered $27.50 in credit that was only good until "the end of the season". Considering the season is effectively over now, I was basically told to go kick rocks due to their ineptitude as a golf course. One of the most infuriating encounters I've ever had.

Tee times were about an hour behind I believe due to overnight freezing. However, by the time we teed off they had made up some time. Course is in great shape. A few traps are being worked on (I noticed it on the 10th hole), so no problem just dropping. My buddy and I love this course and try to play at least once every year. We had to wait on most shots, but the round ended up around 5 hours despite that.

The course is a great layout, makes you hit every club in the bag. Each hole has a lot of variety. Many deep and varied bunkers along with fairways that widen and narrow around them to encourage strategic play. Only losing one star for some of the groundskeeping. Bare spots in fairways, and a few flooded bunkers that needed better drainage and some more sand.

The Hidden Gem Named Darby

Took a run at Darby Creek, man the Greens were fast and receptive, course played fun, first time playing golf in Ohio. If I lived in the area this would be my go to track. Course is in immaculate shape for the weather the Midwest has received this year. Kudos to the superintendent and his staff.

By writing this review I hope those who read it understand if you flock to this course you have to respect the golf course, fix your pitch marks, replace divots , rake bunkers. To keep a place as nice as it was takes alot of work especially with the amount of cool season grass out there. You’d literally have to knit pick to find an issue with this course imo.

Clubhouse is dirty and poorly maintained. Feces all over both toilet seats the day I played, and had not been cleaned all day. Course is OK, but not in the same shape it was before the course changed ownership

I was in town and had a day to play golf. A friend of mine recommended this course and I'm so glad he did. It was top notch. I was paired with a husband and wife named Jay and Chris and they were wonderful to play with. I really enjoyed the course and the personnel were great on the inside as well.

Great course only 30 minutes outside of Columbus. Conditions were excellent. A few bunkers under repair, but that didn’t take anything away from this course. Front nine please very open and links like, with the back nine playing tighter, forcing for good shot selections. Clubhouse had great food And drinks with a big selection. Will be back to play again!

Playing in a league here, so I love most of the course. The heather on the front nine is a defining feature, but it is becoming more poison ivy than tall grass. The greenside bunker on #17 is close to unplayable, because so much of the landscape fabric is exposed in the sand.

Great and phenomenal golf course, terrible people. One time I played there for 9 holes and these 4 guys behind us kept yelling at us to hit the ball even though the people are still on the green. The green was only about 180 yards away from us. The people behind us also were hitting about 300 yard drives but they were playing from the red.

The 2nd time, There was still people on the green and in front of them, another group was still on the tee box. This guy comes up to us demanding that we play faster and he states that I'm a ranger and I work here. Then proceeded to curse us out.

The third time I played there was 2 guys that were playing behind my group of 4. When we were on the next tee box they drove up to us, put their ball down, and teed off. We were in utter shock of what happened.

Please do play here, it is a very nice course but just be weary of the people that you can encounter here.

Could not ask for a better course. The price is perfect, the course layout is fun but challenging and most importantly the grounds Crew does a hell of a job maintaining the course! Additionally, they have a massive putting green along with a grass driving range. Couldn’t ask for more!

One of the better values anywhere near Columbus. Actual variety of holes with subtle elevation changes.

My only critiques are that I wish they still offered the Darby Dozen, and that they had a ranger attempt to improve pace of play.

Didn't appreciate the Cart Path only rule on a 95 degree day (feels like temp) when it hadn't rained for 2 days. It was slightly wet in a few places but not bad. A 90 degree path rule would have been fine. I have horrible knees and that kinda wiped me out. Not to mention it then took almost 6 hours to play 18. Also you need your ranger to keep the younger crowd moving. We sat and waited for them for at least 10 minutes on every hole when they were on the green. They weren't PGA players and didn't need to literally lay on the green analyzing their putt

One of my favorite tracks in the Columbus area. It is worth the treck out here. The folks in the clubhouse are pretty friendly and will work with you on tee times around leagues. The course is always in great shape. The back nine is pretty scheduled and provides s really peaceful atmosphere.

In my top three courses out of all the great public courses in Central Ohio. I’ve been playing several times a year for over twenty years. I’m really happy that they recently instituted a can recycling program. I normally take my (and my partners) cans home from every course I play because hardly any course recycles the tens of thousands of cans they generate. This is my favorite golf course in Columbus. It's a bit of a challenge, but it's not bad for beginners. I feel that all the staff are friendly and they are very professional enough to adjust the time on their own even when I'm a little late. Especially, my favorite thing is the sunset from the clubhouse here. It's very beautiful and I'll always love it here.

Golfed on July 4th 2022 worst possible experience. There were four of us scored 77, 81,82 and 84 so you can see we can golf. On the third hole the ranger asked if the group in front was holding us up we said no they were fine. Long story short he followed us the rest of the day and at one time told us to pick it up we were on the tee box the group in front just hit their second shot and we're not in the carts yet . On 17 we waited eight minutes no ranger done with this course.

Absolutely would not recommend wasting your time or money on this course!! Incredibly rude and unprofessional people working at this course. Never in my life have I golfed somewhere where the starter is constantly coming up to your group rushing and urging you to play faster when absolutely noone was behind us what so ever. A complete one and done for me and my colleagues. Much more prestine courses out there to play than this one... and definitely with WAY friendlier and welcoming staff!! Great golf course and very good condition. Front nine very challenging. The only reason for not a 5 star rating is one of the rangers. Older gentlemen kept coming around like 4 different times and telling our foursome that our pace of play was slow and we were 1 hole behind. Even though the foursome behind us had not even reached the greens as we teed off on the next hole. We did let a two some play through on like the 4 th hole. Just overkill on the rangers behalf.

With the beautiful weather this past weekend (4\30-5/2/2021, stuck at work), i was really wanting to play Monday 5/3. Was checking all courses between Cincinnati and Delaware, everything had rain all afternoon. Found Darby Creek. It showed a break in the weather. Drove almost a hour and a half. Played over 20 rounds at darby in 2020. Its the best deal around. As EVERY GOLFER KNOWS, there's currently no bunkers in great shape due to covid. In past years Darbys bunkers were in great shape. The greens always roll great and the hole 11/12/13 is one of the tougher stretches in local golf. Cant recommend darby enough.

(Edited) Not quite what it once was, but still a very good value and an interesting layout. I left a poor (2-star) review following a couple of painfully slow rounds. But I just played there again yesterday, the pace of play was quicker and the experience was much better...so I am back to update my review.

The course is in pretty good shape and it is obvious they are seeking to improve it. The layout is very good, the staff is friendly, and the rates are very competitive. However, the bunkers, cart paths, and practice range could use some attention. My biggest gripe is that there are a ton of poorly (or un-) repaired ball marks all over the greens, which may have more to do with golfers who don't know any better. Considering all of that, I still think it is an excellent value, with no real competition nearby.

Staff is some of the best around and the clubhouse is great. Their food is great for a golf course, and they are very timely when making the turn. The course is split into two types, with the front nine being wide open and the back nine being surrounded by tree lined holes. The greens roll very true and the fairways are a dream to hit from. Highly recommend as they are helpful and well priced!

This is a course you have to play to understand how good it is. The personnel and upkeep of the course makes it always in great shape, even the aeration of the greens a few weeks ago was not noticed. Love the fact that there are two completely differnt nines (Links/Woods) that challenge most every shot you make.

Make it part of your golfing plans next year, you won't regret it!

Played in Mid-Sept - I can merely repeat the previous reviewers; excellent and challenging course with a very friendly and professional staff. Difficult pin positions, and surprising fast greens. Rough and fairways were in great shape as well. Definitely a more difficult course than some of the nearby facilities. I will recommend this course to friends and coworkers in the future.
