Decent Shape is an absolute gem in the Cleveland fitness world. Brandon has created the most ego-free, effective, FUN place to strength train, not to mention it is squeaky clean and has fostered a really special community in Lakewood. The coaching expertise is unmatched. I've now trained there through a postpartum period, a fractured foot, another pregnancy, and now another postpartum period and I've been thoughtfully accomodated through every change in my body. I've also watched Brandon and his team accomodate both first-time and long-time weightlifters, marathoners, triathletes, surgery and injury rehabbers, and a wide range of ages. No matter your history, fitness level, or goals, if you join us at Decent Shape you're going to get strong in a smart, steady way and have a lot of fun doing it.

I honestly don't even know where to begin to articulate how Decent Shape has positively impacted and helped me to change my life. I was in a low point and found that I wanted to get back into working out and taking better care of myself about a year ago. I have trained in other gyms/studios before, but I have never felt such a strong sense of community as I have at Decent Shape. Brandon thoughtfully designs and customizes the programs to both challenge you and to push you in the right direction to build strength and confidence at the gym. I was recently training on my own and profoundly missed the people I get to work out with every week. Decent Shape is the best!!!! Not only is it a fun environment with great people, but you feel like you get a one-on-one focus in the small group trainings. Brandon cares about your personal development - tracking your progress each session and pushing you (in a good way!) to go farther each time you come in. I started coming in April of 2024 with the goal of getting more toned for my wedding. And in just 5 short months, I couldn’t believe the visible results. I have Decent Shape to thank for that!!!

I started at Decent Shape a year ago after suffering a back injury and needing to get back in shape. I had very little knowledge of strength training so I was looking for a gym who would start from the beginning with me. Brandon has been awesome to work with through his personal training sessions at first then the small groups. The programmed small group classes keep the workouts changing each session and keeps me motivated. A year into training and I am thrilled I took the plunge to join; the results have been remarkable. The weekly yoga and weekend larger group classes at the park in the summer are a great addition to the gym as well.

I would highly recommend Brandon to anyone looking for a local gym.

I needed to add strength training to my primarily cardio-focused workouts, but I was unsure where to start and what would be best for me. I met Brandon for his initial assessment and he took me through key movements and exercises to see where I was at currently. I appreciated that he was genuine and nonjudgemental. He gave me some key strengthening moves specific for me and he was very meticulous on form and completing the exercise properly. This isn't your typical box gym or sweaty-rubber-smelling loud gym, it's a personalized experience where you feel comfortable and confident to make strides in your fitness. I would highly recommend Decent Shape (Brandon) to my clients and friends.

Before I started training at Decent Shape with Brandon, I thought I had enough of the basics of exercise to build strength; however, I can truly say with the upmost confidence that the workouts at Decent Shape have changed the way that I view exercising. Brandon takes so much intentional and thoughtful time to create workouts that are built for anyone at any level of experience. The small group workouts feel like personal training because he pays that much individual attention to you & others in the group. The best part for me is that the workouts are challenging but never to the point of me dreading to go. Contrary, I always look forward to it!

From the tracking & suggesting of weights and reps to the overall atmosphere (cozy, fun, energizing - yes, even at 7:15 am!), Decent Shape is a really great place for those who want to build strength and achieve your goals. I've been doing semi-private group training at Decent Shape for a little over 4 months and cannot recommend it enough! The semi-private aspect gives you the personal attention needed to ensure good form, clarity on why you're doing what, etc. while also getting the energy that comes from a group setting. I love it! (And the people who workout here are really cool, if I can say so myself lol) I'm not a person who usually feels comfortable walking into a gym, but Brandon has created a studio that is welcoming, uplifting, and energizing.

He focuses on quality over quantity and the reason behind every exercise. Because of that, I've lifted weights in the last 4 months I would have never felt comfortable picking up at previous gyms! And understand exercises I never understood before. I feel strong and confident, and leave every session feeling great both mentally and physically.

I've also attended a yoga class here with Emily Kloss and loved it. She has great energy and Decent Shape is a really lovely studio for yoga. She's been doing a Yin/Yang class here that I can't wait to check out.

I have never been the type to head to a gym by myself consistently. When trying to get back into shape, I knew a traditional gym wasn’t for me, and I knew I would get bored doing solely one type of activity.

When Decent Shape came across my radar I was immediately interested in the personal training and semi personal training sessions. In my first semi personal training (SPT) class, Brandon was so helpful in making sure I understood all the exercises and added in modifications that best suited my skill level. I signed up for the SPT classes on the spot and have really enjoyed them since! I love that the classes are small (no more than four), which guarantees you’ll get plenty of individualized attention ensuring your form is correct. Brandon designs each class with plenty of variation in the exercises, and he also keeps track of your PRs so you’re able to compete against just yourself every class and concentrate on getting stronger. I’ve had such a positive experience with the SPT classes and would highly recommend it to anybody seeking to get stronger and get into great shape!

I’ve been working with Brandon in semi-private classes for about 4 months now. He is meticulous about writing down all reps and weights so you know you’re getting stronger and not repeating or letting yourself use lighter weights. That being said, Brandon is a huge believer in listening to your body and it’s limits. I’ve been battling a shoulder injury and he’s constantly giving alternatives or reworks or thinking how I can get the same benefit without aggravating it. I’m a college athlete that sometimes needs to be told to dial it back, but also likes being pushed. Brandon does both well, and the semi private classes allows him to customize the classes and give you enough attention while still being in a small group setting for some encouragement and competition with others. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a more serious strength and conditioning experience!

For someone who hated working out and heading to the gym, I cannot tell you how much I recommend Brandon. He has been so great to work with. The workouts are always different and fun. I have a crazy schedule and he is always willing to do different days/times so I am able to fit workouts in. I met Brandon at his outdoor Boot Camp class. He had a fun and motivating personality and created workouts that were consistently challenging but able to be modified for a range of abilities. I noticed early on his attention to form and functional movements. I was so impressed in fact that I approached him about working with our 15 year old daughter who was 5 months post op from a leg surgery. She was frustrated with her prescribed PT and not making the progress she wanted to see. Brandon built workouts that took her current limitations into account but still challenged her physically. He incorporated some of her prescribed exercises but honed in on treating her as an athlete. The workouts he built for her challenged her strength and built her confidence. He made sure to give modifications for days when they might be needed and encouraged her to repeat the workouts throughout the week.

In 6 weeks of training with Brandon our daughter has made so much progress, mentally and physically. Her muscle growth is visible, she feels herself getting stronger and she has taken ownership of her workouts. His encouragement and attention to form, function and building strength has been amazing. Seeing our daughter find her confidence and strength again has been incredible.

I can not say enough about his positive and encouraging attitude and the range of knowledge he displays.
