I went to the 25th Year Anniversary event they held in September 2025. I went for my son who wanted to join the basketball clinic. Meanwhile, watching my son during the clinic event a worker there came to my face saying something. Unclear what it was about. All I heard was out the door. So I thought it meant me & my daughter had to stand outside of the door. I stood outside the door til my son was done. We went outside to enjoy outside activities. I told my husband I was going up front to talk to someone about membership. On my way, a police officer stopped me. Someone called them concerned of someone being under the influence. Police asked me if I was okay & what not. Did their job. I told them I am visually impaired. I took off my glasses so they can clearly see i have an eye problem. I started crying because this was not the first time I was called on due to my appearance. I do not recommend this place if someone has a hidden disability. Instead of a person asking if I was okay or just asked questions I would have told them I am visually impaired. But instead they called the police & had me an emotional wreck. All due to an appearance & judgements. They have lost someone who was highly interested in being a member at the ymca. I recommend people there to practice with not to make quick judgements & if they are concerned to ask the person. Many people have hidden disabilities.

We have been Y members for years. The facility is great! The staff is amazing. Always incredibly helpful. The indoor pool provides a wonderful opportunity for our kids to do what they love all year round. 5 stars.

Friendly staff, but the weight room needs monitored. Too often the pointout posters are ignored (mainly by younger kids) about cleaning after use, and returning weights. The 100 lb. weights mainly used for leg press needs removed permanently. Somebody is going to get hurt trying to return them to rack.

If I could give no stars I would. My husband got a membership here for a few months and then canceled it. Then they started charging him again and refused to refund $250 because THEY purposely put it on hold instead of canceling his membership like he told them to. Money hungry scammers do NOT waste your time.

Beware! This place is shadier than any corporate gym I've been to. My credit card was compromised a few months ago. I forgot to re-establish automatic payment with my new card. I accept full responsibility for this oversight since it was my only automatic payment and it easily slipped my mind. But did this place bother to reach out to me? They claimed to call me ONCE and to have sent half a dozen emails. But this was a LIE! I never received any emails or a call on the day they claimed. I refuse to do business with liars. This YMCA is not living up to its Christian mission. But it did prompt me to finally cancel my membership. They raised rates a year ago and the gym really doesn't have much to show for it. You can tell they are desperate for money. Hence why they were not concerned about getting a hold of me. Why pass up an extra $20 per month in late fees? I hope the extra $40 was worth a 1 star review and a lost member. Good riddance. For all those considering this particular YMCA, you have been warned!

The pool is only open until noon on Saturday and closed on Sunday. The water is so cold my kids teeth chatter and turn purple. The lifeguards are lazy and refused to give my 12 yr old son a swim test so he swim in the deep because they were the only lifeguard on duty, however, we were the ONLY people in the pool. There was no one else to watch. I pay a lot of money for a membership and Iโm completely frustrated. They are clearly not family oriented.

The staff is always friendly when I come in to the Y and when I am leaving. They are also always very helpful. The workout area is very nicely set up and lots of different machines to use. If someone is on a machine you are needing, thereโs more than likely another machine similar that you can use. I love the different options!

We are retired and were looking for a place to get exercise. We entered the building, had a look around the lobby and shortly were welcomed to the Y. A brief discussion about what we were looking for then off for a tour of the facility. The associate was very friendly and helpful. We discussed rules of the facility and membership requirements. We signed up and are happy with our decision.

Itโs a pretty great place~
Pros~ The Amenities (Thereโs so many, and theyโre clean!) polite and helpful staff, lovely atmosphere, they even have gender neutral bathrooms! ๐
Cons~ Having to give them something of value to borrow a basketball/volleyball. The showers would be cleaner if people cleaned up after themselves. ๐

Nothing for kids. We're in the area weekly for events and tried to find a nice place for our toddler and I to hang out and play. I went to ask about the facilities and if they have a play area or indoor play area for kids and I was told no. Most Ys are targeted towards kids and keeping them active so this was very shocking

This YMCA has a lot going for it (although could use some cosmetic updates --- mainly in the parking lot - needs to look like it is open and inviting....and the showers/lockers need some work in the locker rooms).
I've seen many Y's that offer childcare for babies - up to preschool and after school/off school times childcare for kids that their parents work.....I think that would draw many more people to this center if it was available not only for the time parents come in to workout but as a weekday/week childcare program.
I really like the TVs that are set up at the treadmills.
A big thing for me is that I don't get that nice greeting when you first come into the facility -- or do they know or care that I'm there?.... I think little personal greetings or chats can make a big difference in building a bigger and stronger membership.

The staff is very nice! But this place has really went down hill. The hours here are horrible and trying to get good reasoning why they cut the hours is impossible. Urbana and Marysville YMCA's are open until at least 9:00 pm during the week and are open Saturdays and Sundays. Bellefontaine YMCA only offers hours on Sunday's for 6 months out of the year. I used to love this place and tried to get everyone I knew to join. Now I let people know how it has declined so much. Update: this place gas even gotten worse with the limited daycare hours. I thought this was a place to promote a healthy lifestyle but they reduce hours and childcare hours for parents. Why would you only have childcare hours in the mornings on Mondays and Wednesdays, most people have to work during the days.

Update* changing it to a 1 star because the daycare hours just got worse. The daycare and it being close to my husbands work was the whole reason I got a membership here. It went from being offered 4 days in the evening to 2 days in the evening. If I cannot use this facility do to lack of child care it is a wast of my money to keep paying it when The Findlay Y and Lima Y are the same drive district from house and they offer day 5 days a week.
I have a love hate relationship with this Facility. have a really nice gym for lifting, nice staff, and they are starting to offer some nice classes for kids as well. But their day care hours are horrible. They have kids classes that go past the offered day care hours. Which can be a problem when you have younger kids that are made to wait. Plus the day care is only 2 hours in the evening which is very inconvenient for me (they offer it during the day as well but I do not know the day time house since I cannot go to the gym during the day) Some of the classes they offer for adult are set for times that day care is not offered.

As a business you earn customers through service and fixing things you messed up. Apparently this YMCA doesnโt understand that at all. They treated a minor like a corporate whistleblower, and tried to fire him after he quit. This, after, leaving him alone in freezing temps. Instead of being professional about it, insulted the parents and dug their hole further. There are other YMCA and workout Facilities. Use them instead!

I think its Horrable that their staff leaves underage children that work for them, outside in the middle of an ice storm. 1 of the Parents was in a car accident on the way to pick him up so they were late. The staff left him there alone. You people will never get my Buisiness, ever. You should be ashamed. Are their any compassionate people anymore?. Wow

Worst YMCA we have ever dealt with. We have lived many places and always have done things including sports with YMCA. They don't care about their employees especially the membership Director Kristy. Our son worked as lifeguard and one freezing cold night last week shift ends same time the close. Husband was on way to get and unfortunatly got into an accident. By the time I was informed, he had been left by himself outside in the freezing temps for 30 minutes and was close to hyperthermia. Called YMCA and kristy says "we will not pay our employees extra to babysit your son" after explaining husband got into an accident. We then went above her to Jeff (Director) and were told personally by him he would get back with us Monday and deal with her and told us don't let one person jeopardize our son's job with them. Monday comes, and gets a call and were told they were terminating his employment even though we made it clear he quit 3 days ago.

Worst group of management I have seen. Our Son(16) was out of work at 8pm Thursday. I was on way to pick him up and got into accident. they left and locked both sets of doors in 20 degree weather with him standing outside. One lady asked if he had a ride and he responded that his dad was coming( he didn't know I was in accident). She got into car and drove away. Lady we spoke to told us they weren't babysitters and not their responsibility once they left the building. She also said they could of called CPS on us because it's their policy..mind you,she wasn't there. Their Director(Jeff) said he was gonna look into and handle things. We said we don't want our son working at a place that doesn't care for their Employees and he will be no longer working for you. He said he didn't want to loose him because of one issue. Now today their Aquatics director ( 3rd one in less than a year) calls to terminate our Son. We told you last Saturday he wasn't working for you! Guess if they fire the person that did no wrong, the problem goes away....Well Done, take your Kids out of their programs.

We are going through the same thing a previous commenter mentioned.
Great facilities and very clean. We enjoyed our membership at first but now we are trying to cancel.
Here is where the problem is. In this day and age trying to end a membership is usually quick and painless, but we are now going on 2 months of us trying to cancel. These are 2 months of payments because it can take months for the paperwork to process so we have been told. We was told we could get one of the months refunded after it caused our account to be overdrawn, but guess what several days later and no refund.
Very dissatisfied with how they handle cancelling account and would never recommend a membership to anyone.

I would not recommend coming to this YMCA. We signed up for the family package in the hopes of getting out there every day, but we had to cancel our membership. Since cancelling our membership and stopping payments, the Bellefontaine YMCA is still taking money out of our account despite signing the cancellation papers and numerous phone calls to them to tell them that we cancelled months ago. The woman we spoke to said that there was nothing that they could do and did not help with the situation at all.
