I've had the pleasure of working with Mark at Fitness Resources for over 2 years. I was initially referred to him to aid my recovery from spinal surgery following completion of physical therapy. Mark is incredibly knowledgeable about the physiology of the issues I'm having and recommends a diverse array of exercises with no two sessions ever feeling the same. In the gym, he is punctual, efficient, and moves quickly from one exercise to the next, somehow knowing the right amount of weight to hand you every time. He's always friendly and easy to talk to, and tailors the intensity and focus of our sessions to what I need. The gym itself well-maintained, spacious, and no-frills. It is never over-crowded and there is never a wait for the machine or station we need. I always have a great experience with Mark and definitely recommend!

I had injured my knee almost two years ago and had stopped exercising all together. Whenever I tried to do something active, I would end up in pain. I decided that this year I wasn’t going to have another inactive summer. I heard that Mark was knowledgeable about training people that had physical therapy needs, so in March I decided to try working out with Mark. It’s been a little over 3 months and a feel a huge increase in my balance and energy. I am able to strength train and I’ve not experienced any knee pain. I was even recently able to play tennis for an hour with no pain. Amazing! I’m truly grateful. I highly recommended Fitness Resources and Mark as a trainer.

Mark is - simply put - a fantastic trainer. He’s corrected my form and shown how effective doing something right truly is. Working out is varied, he’s always open to your suggestions, and you receive a well-rounded routine in little time. Injured my knee at OT, and my orthopedist recommended that I stop working out there until I get it repaired. Found Mark doing a search for trainers near downtown. Told him about my knee, and I have been working out with him since mid-July 2018. He recommended a full body workout, while also avoiding stress on my injured knee.

Mark Mayes is a fantastic trainer as he has had enough patience to work with me for 18+ years! . He has had me work with his different trainers who have all been very helpful and dedicated . He’s been very flexible with my work schedule accommodating me at different parts in the day and week . Studio is very private and well-equipped . But the best of all has been Mark May at Fitness Resources, who deeply understands the daily process of ageing, who designs my workouts to minimize muscle loss and maximize balance, and who does it all watchfully and graciously. I’m seven months pregnant, have been training with Mark for the last five months, and couldn’t be more pleased! Through working with him, I’ve been able to continue to strengthen and tone my muscles in a safe way that doesn’t put strain on the baby. And indeed, I’ve seen results— so far, my weight gain has been all baby, due in no small part to staying active throughout pregnancy.

I am currently getting my Personal Training certification and found Mark Mayes' name online when searching under the "top 10 gyms in Columbus". I called all ten of the gyms listed asking if I could sit down with the owner or an upper management employee to get an idea of what makes Personal Trainers marketable today along with other general industry questions. Out of all ten gyms called Mark Mayes from Fitness Resources was the ONLY ONE to not only call me back and answer several questions over the phone but also took a few hours out of his work week to sit down with me face to face and answer ALL my questions. Our meeting was of no benefit to him. I was not looking for a job with him, I was not looking to be trained by him ( I live an hour away otherwise I would!!) and nor was I able to bring a single thing to the table to aid his career at all and he knew that and still agreed to meet with me. He was extremely knowledgeable of the industry he has been in for over 30 years and very patient with my several ignorant industry questions. He has many clients whom he has had for years and years which is UNHEARD of in this business so he is obviously doing so much right. It is a beautiful facility in a beautiful Columbus location with a highly trained and skilled personal trainer to boot.

I have worked with Mark for 17 years. He's patient and tolerant with me, a less than enthusiastic client. He knows how hard to push without making me never want to come back.
