I HAVE REVISITED THIS GYM RECENTLY looking to get back in to fitness again. i was here when it was World Gym and is now fitness zone. M review will be updated and ongoing. I have spoke with mike the manager by phone and found that membership prices have more than double than what it was as World Gym. Not what i needed to hear. Planet Fitness is not even 300.00 a year BUT i want MORE for what i do. On my current visit i saw that some of the bench cushions padding are exposed do to wear and tear. . THIS IS A HORRIBLE NASTY THING because of INFECTION EXPOSURE TO MEMBERS!! This is EXTREMELY UNSANITARY !! I am on my way soon to go in and use the gym and will report back on everything i experience here. I am not attempting to have this Gym close down or be put out of business but to only be made better!! If i am going to have to double pay the I very well better get my moneys worth. And if i dont get my moneys worth. . . . then you will hear about it hear on Google reviews. And maybe more. ONLY TWO STAR SINCE THE LAST VISIT. ------- i joined 3rd week of july 2018/ . still old beat up lockers. Lighting in the mens locker room is still bad. . urinals just need to be replaced. still has stuck on deposits Even after i see they have been cleaned. A shower still has not been repaired. . . and another shows rust . . . it appears no matter how much its cleaned. . its going to rust because it needs to be fixed. Cushions on machines in the free-weight sections are still torn and busted. Staph infection hazard!! Thats management not caring . and skimping on cost. Cant wait for Amazon to be successful in North Randall. . . i see more business is growing there. Event planet fitness is there now. . . . i know there will be a better gym coming soon. After my year here. . i will be forced to go to another gym im sure.

1 star, for the sauna. Lots of unkept machines and free weights. Ok environment, more gridiron though. But tread lightly, and read the fine print. I can’t say I had any productive customer service until the end. I was typically attempted to be lectured, at first due to my age, if I had any complication with my account. I only received a productive response from ownership when a ranting review was left, and then was I repeatedly called a coward and yet again was attempted to be disciplined. But, it was worth ending the membership.

I was a member over a year ago. Yes, there were some issues, but I loved it and really miss being there. Everything I needed to get strong was right there 10 min from my home. I found Mike to be very open and friendly. I plan on going back this week to become a member again. I went to PF thinking I could get the same kind of workout and I found i could not and have paid thd price!! I'll be returning soon!!

Very happy with both the quantity and variety of machines, all being in good condition. Owner is a good guy, and genuinely cares about his health club and members. Recently replaced all the lights with LED lights, and it feels like a brand new gym. I'm an experienced lifter, and am never left wanting for a different piece of equipment than what is available

Awesome place. It's clean and has Wonderful staff. Every piece of equipment you'll need for a full body workout. FREE WEIGHTS is a big plus! Perks are the steam room, licensed massage therapist and the smoothie station. It is true that they has a few machines down (3 at most), but you have no problem with finding another that works the same muscle group. Reasonable prices. I'm happy and I'll probably be here a while

Fitness zone is a good gym. I've been a member for 3 months now and with the new addition of a punching bag and training circuit I feel like the $20 monthly membership fee is a steal. Fitness Zone offers a wide variety of free weights, machine weights, and cardio machines. Mike is a nice guy who shakes almost every member's hand who comes and goes. The gym is up to standards and Mike is currently making improvements and updating the equipment since I've been there.

Update, 6/22/19 no one around in the building to cancel the gym. Called while standing there, it rang and rang. That's pretty dangerous! What if someone hurt themselves or there was an emergency?

This place is run down and it seems management is unwilling to make any real changes. Stuff remains broken more more than half a year. The place is crowded with broken stuff. The one thing I like about it, the thing that keeps me coming back, multiple times a week, is that these broken and run down things keep uppity people away and there is always plenty of space to do your stuff! The people who ARE there are about their business and are there to put in work. Everyone is friendly. I don't ever feel uncomfortable being one of the only women in the building. Come here if you have a high tollerance for bathrooms that don't lock, water fountains that don't work and other stuff.

A TRUE EMBARRASSMENT OF A GYM

I used to talk to mike all the time when I would come in and train. He was great at first. Once he got comfortable around me, his true racism started to show. I understand that he is a white boy from the south, but saying things to me like " Hey, THESE PEOPLE DON'T PAY THEIR BILLS! Brother, I am black! Don't say these things! The sad part is? he doesn't even think he is doing anything wrong! Reminds me of a typical Trump Supporter.

This place has went down hill FAST! Half of the lights don't work. The friendly faces that used to be here have vanished overnight. The owner is nowhere to be found. (which is fine because when you try to come in he tries to have a 45 minute conversation with EVERY PERSON that comes through the door). People are coming in trying to sign up but nobody is ever at the front desk. The gas was shut off two weeks ago,cold showers.(morning guy told me when i asked why i couldn't shower before work) The gym is supposed to open at 5am on Mondays it doesn't open until 5:30 sometimes. He closes on holidays and then just opens up whenever he feels like it the next day....(regardless of what time he posts he'll be open) . All the important equipment is unsafe or completely broken. Shoulder press bench wobbles, all the benches are torn and smell like pee, the roof leaks when it isn't even raining, half the treadmills are broken. hack squat machine has been down for over a year. Leg extensions are broke. The machines make noise when you attempt to use them. ( I watched a cable snap once while someone was doing a pull down). Lots of pieces of equipment from 1990 are sprawled across the floor looking like a sad Fitness cemetery where a once thriving gym, used to sit. They did put up a nice piece of equipment (to look at and not use) about 3 months ago. I promise you it will never be up and running (the place will close first). I heard from the cleaning guy,the night aerobics instructor and the morning desk guy that he doesn't pay on time ,ever. (Explains where all the help went) This place will be closed by September and its a shame because I've been coming here for 2 year...... I've been hoping that things would get better because this place REALLY does have potential, but it wont. Dead in the water.

I came in to cancel last week and while I thought we were cool, he was very rude and played the "you are just like everyone else" card. I told him I didn't want to pay for 2 memberships because I just got one at LA and he said "Back in my day id have 4 or 5 memberships and alternate". I'm sorry I can't do that. I can't pay into something I don't believe in. I gave you 2 years to try and get this right and you have failed ME, as a gym member. That is on YOU as a gym owner. Before you blame everyone else in MY community for YOUR shortcomings in the fitness industry, remember. It starts at the top.

-The instructors are talking bad to members because YOU don't pay them

The gym itself is nice I enjoyed the machines and the people, however after reading some other reviews I would like to confirm that when you cancel make sure you have proof in writing because my account was charged two months after I was told it would be cancelled.
As I had no proof but my memory it was easy for them to deny it.
I never had my phone calls returned on this matter and went in 3 times till I realized I have no chance.

I called to get information about a membership. The owner Mike was extremely rude. He never answered any of my questions. He was more concerned with over talking me and trying to get his pre planned speech out. The call ended with frustration and no answers. You can get a real feel for how Mike is just by reading his replies. The guy is just plain rude Planet fitness is up the street if you need good gym in the Cleveland hts area.

So let me start by saying my experience was definitely identifiable with all the other negative reviews. Terrible, unbelievable customer service experience with the facility's owner Mike from day 1 of my membership.
When I signed up in January of last year, I was very surprised and disappointed at the condition of the equipment. Most of it I recognized from when the location was Bally's. Therefore confirming that much it was outdated and explaining why some machines were broken and unsafe. When expressed my concern with the owner Mike he was very arrogant about it saying it doesn't matter because the body is a machine (whatever that means). Either way I continued going and tried to make the best of my membership. Anxiously waiting for the year to fly by so I could be done with this place.
So when my contract expired in January yet I was charged in February, I was surprised (but not)! I called and spoke to an employee who advised to come cancel and the fees would be waived. Although no where does it mention cancellation is required after membership has expired. So I go there and Mike says although it's not in the signed, legal contract, it's a state law that expired memberships become month to month without cancellation. I explained to him whether that is true or not, it's not what signed. He then proceeded to demand that I listen to him so I could learn something. Even asking me what kind of work I did. I told him that was irrelevant and he said I wasn't an attorney. Meanwhile I thinking I’m a professional and business owner myself...and I would never insult and treat customers the way he often does. But, it’s no wonder he has very few members and so many complaints.
Please don't patronize this business! It is very likely you or your business won't be respected. Not to mention the condition is not worth the cost, more less you peace of mind.

I moved out of town but kept my membership even though I can only visit once in a while because the owner Mike is one of the coolest, humblest people I know and he creates a family atmosphere at this gym. If you want to do a lame corporate workout with only machines go to planet fitness. If you want to go lift weigts at a gym that is set up the way a gym is supposed to come here.

Fitness Zone is a horrible gym. The gym is not clean, the work out area is dark and there is only one sauna room which is not clean and the other room has been closed for at least a year. I spoke with Mike the manager in regards to closing my account. He immediately start taking out double my membership fees. I would advise every one to look at there bank statements. When a gym is being managed so poorly equipment not working and moved from the floor and not replaced and management is drawing extra funds from there customers account. That is a clear sign that this place may be closing in the near future. One Star is to good of a rating. Thanks Mike for stop Pilfering my bank account.

This is the WORST GYM I HAVE EVER ATTENDED. NO HEAT! ITS LITERALLY FREEZING! NOT SURE IF ITS NO HEAT OR HE JUST DOESNT WANT TO TURN IT ON. It is currently 5 degrees (January 22,2019) Gym says open at 5am The gym is NEVER open on time. It was 5:39am and the owner (who has a really bad personality)sped in the parking lot and had the nerve to have a attitude about it. This gym doesn’t deserve a star. Please save your time and money . This is not the gym for you. At all..

Great gym with great management. The hours are very accessible, management doesn’t bother you too much unless you’re doing something very wrong, weights are usually re-racked appropriately. To address some cleanliness comments on here, in terms cleanliness, I think people are confusing clean with old. Some of the facilities like the benches and locker rooms are a bit old, but the gym itself is actually a bargain compared to what’s offered in the surrounding area if you’re looking for a place to develop real strength and I don’t see why a place needs to be sparkling clean because you should be showering after work ours. Regarding the Staph comment, Staph is pretty much on everything we touch.

Pros: Actually has a free-squat rack as opposed to the smith machines. Would be amazing if they could get another. The 4 bench presses make it so you never have to wait on chest day. There’s also a deadlift platform which is nice. Overall, this gym has every major lifting item and a decent selection of machines. The manager takes the time to get to know you and everyone at this gym is very supportive.

Cons: Some of the machines have been out of service for a while.

Feedback: I would pay double/month if this place were open 24/7. Planet Fitness is virtually useless for someone looking to really lift weight and Anytime Fitness is doesn’t have as much equipment and only one shower/restroom? Even opening an hour earlier would be super helpful. Really hope this place receives enough volume to do that in the near future.

Let me start by saying I'm a member of fitness zone by deception only, because I was already a member of the previous named company WORLDS GYM and obviously a new franchise company came in to take over and spear headed by a gentleman name Mike Pala.
What established company takes over an existing company and not inform the current clientele of the upcoming changes while keeping the process extremely transparent.
Mike Pala manager, owner, contractor, not really clear of his position but does carry himself very managerial and extremely evasive when it come to client gym issues.
If I was properly informed by Mike Pala whom I saw frequently at the gym about the upcoming changes I would've had time to make the appropriate changes.

New paint would make it more inviting. Bathrooms need updated,staff is friendly,stationary bikes need replaced they currently make noise. Management should consider better music, maybe survey your members because what's been playing is not good gym music more for a waiting room. Renovations should be managements #1 priority

The club is totally brand new and I love the location. They even have child care. I joined so I could lose some weight but I got a whole lot more. Thanks for the personal trainer too. The rest is up to me. Good place to work out.
