Fitworks CLEVELAND is a great gym for people that are serious about lifting and for your everyday workout. I’ve been coming here for a little over a year and the people who work here are great. Yara is personable manager at the gym who makes you feel welcome everytime you walk in the door. Enrico is one of the trainers who does a great job training patrons and have heard and seen great things about their transformations. The one thing this gym needs is a few more functional training equipment and it would be perfect. Highly recommend fitworks downtown

I started Fitworks Downtown 1 year ago. My experience has been great so far. There is never a big crowd and I love that. The staff has always been available and are awesome. My trainer is Enrico and he has been one of the best trainers I’ve had. I will definitely continue to have a membership here as long as I live downtown.

Not a bad gym but some patrons ruin it either due to lack of rules existing or lack of enforcement. Recently, the gym has suffered from a pungent odor. I've started to bring a fabreeze can with me just to make it more bearable. The fact people work out shirtless on the machines probably doesn't help. If you like to listen to music when you work out, you'll probably need to memorize the schedules of the people who come in and bring their own speakers. They blast their music loud enough that you won't be able to hear your own. There's no signs indicating you can't work out shirtless or bring your own portable speaker so people may be within their right to do so and if either of those bother you, consider going elsewhere.

Had an 8:00am appointment for a tour that was supposed to lead to a free month. Well after a half hour of waiting for some incompetent liar named Dave, I just left. If the manager isnt capable of making an 8:00, something even most teens are capable of, then theres absolutely no way this guy has it in him to manage a safe, clean up to date gym. Finished with this place before I even got started. Hope it gets bulldozed and becomes a new taco bar

DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT GIVE THIS GYM ANY OF YOUR FINANCIAL INFORMATION. If you want to sign up for a membership and they will let you pay cash as you go, then do that as a last resort. When you attempt to cancel this gym will tell you that you are inactive and continue to charge you, then when you call and ask why you are still being charged after they said they would cancel your membership, they will act as though they do not know you, claim that they "need to call corporate to get it straightened out because payments go through another company", ignore your calls if they know it is you calling, and you will have at least a 3 month headache unless you cancel your credit card and/or your bank account number. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BANK ACCOUNT INFO to get the discount on sign up. You will end up having to close your bank account to get them to quit charging you. I have reported this gym to the Better Business Bureau of Ohio.

Don’t do it, not worth it. The gym is in a state of disrepair and advertised amenities like the sauna are an additional charge… which would be ok if the gym itself was in good shape but it’s not so another fee is laughable. The equipment is old, the carpets are filthy/smell and the walls are also dirty and have random holes cut out that were never repaired. This place was nice when it was Titans but clearly nothing has been done to it since - yet the price isn’t cheaper. I read the reviews where the owners claim they’re fixing it up, but that doesn’t make it worth it now. Your money is quite honestly better spent elsewhere, especially when gyms like the YMCA and CSU are 10-15 blocks away, CLEAN and full of well-maintained equipment.

DO NOT COME HERE! Its almost as if this gym is the forgotten step child of the franchise. I have been going here since this was Titans gym in 2019 and once Fitworks took over, I was optimistic they would improve the gym. However, when walking in the staff seems more pre-occupied with whats going on In their phone than the paying customers, there are machines that have been broken and unusable since 2019 with no sign of repair or replacement, and the locker room is in a constant state of disarray! I would strongly advise anyone thinking of getting a membership to instead, go to Tremont Athletic Club, Old School Iron, BrownsFit, or even consider going to the Fairview club. I can promise you this place is not worth your time nor the $30 or so a month. If I could cancel my membership - I would in a heartbeat

I have worked out at this gym for over two years and have experienced the transition from Titans to Alpha Legends and now FitWorks. Most of the negative reviews here are due to the management during the short lived period as Alpha Legends. I can verify that the quality of the experience decreased significantly during this time. However, ever since FitWorks has taken over, everything has been improving and I would definitely recommend this gym for people who are actually looking to get a lift in. It’s not the fanciest gym that you are going to find, but it has everything that you will need, and it never feels extremely crowded. I don’t think you can find a better value for a gym that contains free weights than FitWorks.

Ever wanted to experience what it's like to be on a ghost ship? Look no further than downtown Cleveland. I was a member of Titan's (prev. management) for 6 years and it's gone significantly downhill in the past few months as Alpha Legends to the point I'm pretty sure no one is actually managing at the moment. As other mentioned, you step over a homeless man to swipe in and enter the building in the mornings. Half of the treadmills are broken, most fitness machines visibly broken, there's weight plates littered all over the ground, and I'm pretty sure the place hasn't been cleaned in a couple of weeks. I have no idea if they're still accepting new members so I'm writing this in case they are - STAY AWAY.

There’s literally a homeless man sleeping inside the front door and you have to step over him to swipe your card. Everything is broken and dirty. Smells bad and musty. a/c hardly works. Weights are never re-racked. Front door sometimes gets stuck and you can’t get in at all, I had to walk back home once because I could not get in. The girl at the front desk is great but she’s only scheduled for like 3 hours per day during weekdays so most of the time there’s no one there. My wife doesn’t feel safe to be there by herself. No one answers the phones. No way to contact via email. Good luck trying to get ahold of someone to cancel your membership or ask them to fix something.

It’s sad we took this long to realize it could of saved us all a pretty penny. I advise you all to run and find a better gym. He’s a scammer. I know y’all wouldn’t work somewhere someone has “financial issues” and your paycheck is at stake plus from these reviews he doesn’t care about his members.

I had been a long time member of Titans. Recently gave the gym under new ownership and name a 2 star rating (it deserves only that) and then responded to an owner email with some constructive feedback (it was needed - a lot of maintenance needed). The owner has now cancelled my membership. Seems to be his approach if you read other reviews. Do yourself a favor and find another gym alternative! I'd recommend a gym where ownership cares about its members!

Visited from out of town & stayed at the residence inn next door. Their gym is closed so I went to Alpha Legends. I am a bodybuilder looking for a basic gym.... Alpha legends has it all and then some. Cardio equipment upstairs, big space for functional movements, and then TONS of dumbbells and machines downstairs. Some of the cardio equipment is down... But working at 2 other gyms I know how hard it is to get parts right now and they are on top of it for sure. Plus there's tons of others to choose from. Literally perfect and couldn't ask for more. Drew at the front desk was awesome in answering my questions!! Thanks for everything.
I also found out they are opening a coffee shop in the gym tomorrow!! Super cool.

Overall, it is a run down gym. No COVID policies. They also hide the contracts from you and tell you to sign without giving you the opportunity to read it. I had to ask each time and only got a short summary by mouth of what it said. I would avoid.

I recently moved from CLE to North Carolina. I called to cancel my membership over the phone but they wouldn’t let me cancel over the phone. They told me I had to cancel in person, otherwise I had to send them documents proving that I moved out of state. Completely unnecessary and absurd. I’ve canceled gym memberships without a problem over the phone easily before. I have never run into this. I’m embarrassed for this business, trying to make it as difficult for people to discontinue giving them money. Figure out how to make an honest dollar. The gym was average at best. Not very nice.

The equipment is in HORRIBLE shape here. Notably, the ellipticals are broken (don’t ride smoothly, missing pieces, phone stand missing) and old. Downstairs in the basement (which is freezing during the winter), equipment breaks all the time and it takes AGES to fix (if it’s ever fixed).
One of the door key card scanners has been broken for MONTHS and they refuse to fix it.
Don’t try asking for things to be repaired, IT WON’T DO YOU ANY GOOD.
Waiting for the day another gym opens downtown! Don’t waste your money!

Negative experience with this gym. It used to be called Titan Fitness, and was bought by new owners. The employees told me I was being overcharged because I was being charged on the old prices and not the current ones. However, they said I would have to personally talk to the new owner, who was only there early in the morning. When I came in later, they denied that that conversation ever occurred and refused to refund my money. They also require you to come in in person in order to cancel, because they know that a lot of people have moved far away and they want to inconvenience you by forcing you to buy a plane ticket in order to cancel the contract. Obviously they havent figued out a way to make an honest buck so they have had to resort to makind a dishonest one.

Nice equipment, price decreased in transition from Titan's to Alpha. They still accept discount from employer also. They've already added dehumidifiers that have made a HUGE difference. They've added a water bottle-refilling station above the drinking fountain which I never knew I wanted. They're making subtle improvements everywhere and things are going in a great direction.
Nice group of people working there and it's never too crowded. I never have to wait for machines or benches! Super convenient downtown also.

Boom! It happened. Titan’s downtown sold to a new owner and things are looking up.
My first time returning to the gym was today and I can tell things are noticeably better.
The owner was at the desk, the place was getting a new coat of paint, and the focus is back on fitness.
The treadmills have been spaced and marked to allow for social distancing and disinfectant bottles are within an arms reach everywhere.
The new owners were super friendly and willing to hear feedback. Their first email went out to the existing Titan’s members today with a very professional welcome and explanation of the transition. They even shared their vision for the future of the gym. To top it off, membership pricing model is extremely well designed.
Very excited for what the future holds for this new location of the Alpha Legends Gyms.

I am downtown mon thur friday at 5 am and i signed a year tanning package about 3 months ago but before joining I asked 2 important questions for myself and that was can i tan at 5 am and answer was absolutely and when will you be changing the tanning bulbs and answer was first week of the following month well needless to say its been 3 months and bulbs are still not changed and i have been there 4 time on 4 different weeks at 530 am and no one there to put me in a tanning bed. I haven't said anything because people over sleep and people have car trouble but I am now regretting joining for a year. I really thought i found a great place that fitted my needs but I am really not happy at all. So beware before you sign give it a trial run. Thank you kelli Epps

I used to be a member of Titans gym when I first moved to downtown Cleveland 3 years ago, mostly for the month to month membership they offered. I even bought a tank top and hoodie, I praised this gyms name. However, in January of 2016 I received a deal in the mail for a $39 monthly membership and jumped right in it with my boyfriend. When we went to sign up we were told at the time of registration that we can cancel at anytime and just need to give a 30 day notice. My boyfriend and I signed the paper and went on our way. Later when I tried to cancel Kim told me that I signed a 2 year contract and there is no way to get out of it unless I move. The gym itself is fine I just hate that I feel conned into signing a long term contract. I still live in downtown and am forced to pay for this gym membership. :( Since January is right around the corner they may do this again and I suggest if you get any guarantees, get it in writing.

In January I signed up for a 2-year gym membership at Titan Gym in Mentor. Before signing, the conversation went like this:
Me: I only want to sign up for a few months. I don't want to belong to a gym in the summertiime.
Titan: You can suspend your membership over the summer months. (He volunteered this. I had never heard of such a thing.)
Me: How does it work?
Titan: Say you suspend it for 3 months. Then your expiration date gets moved back 3 months.
Me: How do I do it?
Titan: Just tell them at the front desk when you want to do it.
The ability to suspend is the only reason I signed up. Now they won't to let me suspend the membership for the summer, saying "It's not in the contract." They led me to believe that it's a normal part of belonging to the gym and then hid behind what's (not) written.
All my attempts at peaceful resolution were met by hiding, avoiding, and more lying. It would cost me more to take them to Small Claims Court than what the damages are (thankfully, a fairly cheap membership), so my only recourse is the BBB and writing reviews online.
Bottom line: they lied to my face just to get me to sign the contract.

Of all the gyms in downtown Cleveland this isn't the worst, but there are some major problems. My advice would be to find another gym until they get their act together. It certainly is not worth the premium they are charging. My main complaints about the place is there is no wifi available for guests, it is freezing in the cardio section during the lunch rush because one of the owners insists on keeping the door propped open while she exercises, and most of the equipment seems to be cheap knockoffs of better brands. In this day and age and for $39.99 per month wifi should be available at every gym. With all the new technology out there it would be nice to be able to listen to internet radio while working out. I think my comment about the owner propping the door open during the winter is fairly self explanatory. It is the middle of winter in Cleveland, OH and if you are getting too warm while exercising then I would suggest a few things: 1) get a fan and move it towards you while doing cardio 2) lower the heat in the place or 3) workout first thing in the AM or last thing in the PM when no one is around. After all you are managing a gym, at least for now, use some common sense. I can't imagine working out in the cold is all that good for you. Lastly, to address my comment about the equipment. Don't get me wrong, it is all new stuff, but pretty bush league if you ask me. The dumbbells are giant and completely made of rubber making it very difficult to use. None of the machines in the place offer enough resistance. Believe me, I am no super hero and can do a full rack on most machines. Not to mention every machine can be increased/decreased in 20 lb increments and you can slide down an additional 7.5 lbs. Most every traditional machine I have used goes in increments of 5 or 10lbs. Again, I am no expert, but seems a little odd. There are also some cheap knockoffs of hammer strength scattered throughout that are similar to the machines. Pretty much no matter how much you put on the resistance doesn't change all that much. Lastly, there are some pretty blaring mistakes in regards to variety. There is only 1 smith machine, no pullup/dip stretch station, and no decline benches to do abs (this is just a short list of things missing). The only good thing I can say is it is clean. I had a 2 week trial membership and decided not to sign up. I urge you to do the same until improvements are made. Feel free to post any questions in response to my review.
